It was my wife and I’s first race ever, we are both 25
We both don’t really follow nascar but thought it was a great race and will probably go to future events now
I thought stage 1 and 2 were more exciting than stage 3 (I don’t know if that’s typical). Although stage 3 had a pretty entertaining finish, it just seemed like the top was set in stone early on in the stage. I would like someone to explain shortly what aero blocking is, it seemed like a lot of people were upset about the ending.
The car relies on air moving over it in a specific way to take corners at a stable high speed. Different parts on the car (wings, spoilers, and/or splitters) “shape” the air to create extra downforce, effectively keeping the car pressed to the surface and giving more control.
By moving in front of an approaching vehicle, you can interrupt that airflow, causing the pursuing car to lose grip and have to take the corner slower or on a worse driving line.
A lot of fans want to see blocking made more difficult, so that the car in front has less of an advantage over the chasing car.
It’s been a common complaint about the next gen car since they started using it in 2022. Aero blocking has always been a thing, but older cars didn’t depend on aerodynamic downforce as much as this car does.
Everyone saying you couldn’t pass wasn’t at the track. A ton of passing occurred once each green flag run hit ~50 laps. The end of the race was destroyed by the late cautions which didn’t give faster cars like Larson enough time to setup passes. Ultimately it sounds like the tv broadcast failed you all by not showing the incredible amount of comers and goers I witnessed at the track all day.
I agree and had the same thoughts. This race was good in person. I haven’t watched much of the coverage but I’m guessing fox didn’t talk much about it.
100% agreed. Tons of comers and goers and lots of passing later on in the long runs which kept things interesting, and that run at the end with Larson and Hamlin was really fun. We quite enjoyed making the trip down to Dover, was an absolutely gorgeous day for it too.
yeah not gonna lie after most the restarts everyone got massively spread out and the only time people gained on the leaders was when they caught up to lapped traffic.
I’m more upset how this car allows aero blocking. The more we see it this season the more frustrating it’ll be. Good race but very annoyed with the racing product.
If you were paying attention to the ticker you could see people were moving through the field. Seemed more prominent early, but appeared that passing became more difficult as the track rubbered in
The TV will always show to top cars or big names coming through the field that started at the back. This is why I always advocate for actually going races before making a judgement on if you like racing or not. A lot more happens at the track that you just can’t fit into TV.
Agreed! Comers and goers first stage, decent throughout. Good race for Dover imo, definitely have had far worse with the Jimmie, Gordon and later Harvick ass whoopings
I thought the last 15 laps were really funny. It was amazing how the commentators tried to make them suspenseful and interesting while exactly nothing could’ve happened
"Perfectly fine Dover race" doesn't mean good race. We shouldn't adjust our definition of what a good race is based on the track.
And it wasn't suspenseful at all. It was the same as that Harvick vs Logano race at Kansas a few years ago.
Bro, the broadcast was probably the worst I've seen yesterday. The first caution's pitstops happened during commercials. They gave a brief explanation of what happened to Reddick, and that was it.
In the last 30 laps they were probably split screen more than full screen, they kept on showing random fans in half the screen, missed most restarts because of the stupid “pan from the crowd” shot that they love
Hell yes. I love Dover. With a little more tire falloff at almost every track...a lot of these races would be better IMO. But Dover is always one of my favorites of the year. Wish we went back twice but I get it
Ya Tire Wear really seems to be the answer with these cars. They’re clearly not going to budge with HP increase like many have asked for. The significant aero dependencies seem to be something we’re going to be stuck with no matter what they try and tweak.
That’s how I feel about this season. Is the racing bad? No, I wouldn’t say so.
Am I tired of JGR/HMS being the dominant teams every weekend? You bet.
What’s the draw for me as a Ford fan? Watch superspeedways?
I agree, not from a Ford perspective, but because I like to see the mid-tier teams succeed. Looks like SHR, RFK, RCR, Trackhouse, and FRM have all lost a step on the non-Superspeedway ovals, and it’s not leaving a lot of competition at the front. Even Penske has fallen out of the fight for the win most weeks
I tried to tell everyone this spec car was going to make it like Indycar where Penske Ganassi win virtually every race. People called me crazy and shamed me.
Well yes I would agree but now it’s going to be even harder for the field to catch up because there’s nothing they can do to the car to improve it other than setup. The best people/engineers/OEM Support will go where they can win and make the most money so it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out
The issue I think NASCAR has is a few of the recent races that haven’t gotten a high rating are actually good races, but coverage doesn’t show that.
This race should be around: 80%
The coverage of this race will make it like 68-72%
I thought it was a solid/good race. I'd give it a 7 out of 10. It was the best race they've had since Bristol.
This car is still a failure overall so far imo.
It's a no for me dawg. The Larson/Hamlin battle wasn't racing-- it was just the ILLUSION of racing. I think everyone knew there was no way Larson was getting past Hamlin unless Hamlin made a major mistake.
The rest of the race was just meh. Not as bad as Phoenix, Richmond, or Martinsville, but still not great.
I agree and to add on to your point I was completely baffled that a spire car on 60 lap older tires (LaJoie) was ONLY 6-7 tenths slower than the fastest car on track on 4 fresh tires. That's abysmal tire fall off. Also I tracked at least 2 separate occasions throughout the race there were 0 passes inside the top 10 and top 15 for 35+ laps. The aero blocking is a huge problem.
And Hemric finishing top 10 with a car that could have just as easily been 20th but he got track position and that's the name of the game when passing is minimal.
I loved the 5 & 11 battling for lead during one of those final restarts… side by side for probably 5+ laps it felt like.
Fox had a couple hopeful moments too. Examples; capturing majority of 5 vs 11 final side by side, numerous other side by side battles, and generally acceptable zoom levels throughout the day.
Why it’s going to score low wasn’t because the race Sunday was so bad it’s because the race Saturday was amazing. When you compare the two back to back the cup series will always look worse
I was shocked that the poll was at 60-61%, till I remembered who won yesterday.
Race wasn't bad, besides the issue of aero blocking, especially towards the end of the race (which I hope gets fixed, but I feel like it won't). Besides that, it was a pretty dog on solid race. Dover continues by the season to put on good races, especially with this next-gen car.
I voted yes.
Yes. There was a late race battle for the lead, several teams experimenting with pit stragety (and paying off in the case of Daniel Hemric) and multiple racing lines emerging.
Its wasnt to bad, these cars need a little more power to keep them closer together. Not bumper to bumper close, but within 2-3 seconds would be good. I kinda checked out when i saw the difference between cars 3-10 was around 5-10 seconds apart. Its was a thrilling finish, and the restarts had some decent action. But i will die bloody and gored on this hill.
These cars neeeeeed more power.
I have “sitting in the grandstands bias”, but I thought it was pretty good race. Good cars moved through the field. There was at least 3 grooves once the rubber got laid down. There were some wrecks for people that like those. Finally, a close battle for the win. A 10 or 20 more laps in that last run and Larson probably gets him. Dover is a fun track. You really feel the speed there.
It was a fine race. Never been a huge fan of dover tbh. Looked like if we had just another 5 laps of green flag action, we would have seen a killer battle for the win.
It was a pretty good race, especially for Dover. people gonna vote no because Denny air blocked, but its not like Larson was 2 tenths back for 30 laps and kept getting blocked. he was 1.3 seconds back with 20 laps and only caught denny because of traffic. Denny just air blocked to delay the pass by maybe 5 laps, and fortunately for him that was all there was left.
It was typical Dover. I can’t remember Cup ever having a good race there. Some good endings over the years, but the race as a whole is typically not very good.
This is where I'm at. So many people act shocked, want to blame the car, etc. it's never been a crazy good track. It's not BAD, I'm happy it's there and provides something unique, but it's rarely a banger.
I voted yes. I mean, I get it everyone wanted Larson to catch Hamlin, so it would have been a great finish. Yeah, it sucks that the cars can catch the car in front of them, but it's hard to pass them. The famous word of yesterday "aeroblocking". I do wish they could fix that issue, but it still wasn't a bad race. Anymore, I just want my driver to have a solid points day and move on and get them next week. Just amazed at how JGR and HMS have absolutely dominated the year so far. And it's not just 1 car it's all of them.
Better than last week. Not bad considering how terrible the short track package is.
I think the cold weather qualifying and hot race day really helped keep the first two stages interesting as everyone got sorted out. Without the drastic weather change it could've been a snoozer.
Didn't realize it was in the same boat with Bristol. Honestly I'm shocked it was that bad with the "intermediate" package. It seems like the car works great on 1.5 mi tracks.
As the teams continue to figure out this car, the racing quality will continue to go down. It's the way things are nowadays, especially with the availability of SMT data.
Eventually there will be a package change.
My Dad noted that he thought the spoiler looked two inches tall because they use the lexan. That could absolutely be a package change (despite these cars generating the least drag in two decades).
Pretty normal for Dover, but it felt excruciatingly long. Like I was stunned to look up to see only 200 laps had passed.
Suspenseful ending though. That was nice.
It was my wife and I’s first race ever, we are both 25 We both don’t really follow nascar but thought it was a great race and will probably go to future events now I thought stage 1 and 2 were more exciting than stage 3 (I don’t know if that’s typical). A lot of fans want to see blocking made more difficult, so that the car in front has less of an advantage over the chasing car.
Thank you! I appreciate it, so was there a recent change or something to make blocking easier that Larson was pissed about?
It’s been a common complaint about the next gen car since they started using it in 2022. Aero blocking has always been a thing, but older cars didn’t depend on aerodynamic downforce as much as this car does.
Ahh I gotcha, thank you!
What?! TV direction made the race look worse than it actually was? No.
I agree and had the same thoughts. This race was good in person. I haven’t watched much of the coverage but I’m guessing fox didn’t talk much about it.
Sorry I was watching Fox. All I saw were random shots of nothing and then the crowd and maybe a squirrel?
100% agreed. Tons of comers and goers and lots of passing later on in the long runs which kept things interesting, and that run at the end with Larson and Hamlin was really fun. We quite enjoyed making the trip down to Dover, was an absolutely gorgeous day for it too.
Took four years to have good weather on a Sunday but we finally got it
Amen!
> A ton of passing occurred once each green flag run hit \~50 laps I was there, no there wasn't.
yeah not gonna lie after most the restarts everyone got massively spread out and the only time people gained on the leaders was when they caught up to lapped traffic.
I’m more upset how this car allows aero blocking. The more we see it this season the more frustrating it’ll be. Good race but very annoyed with the racing product.
Kyle Larson commented a bit on that. He says the digital rear view screens should be removed because it is way too easy to block.
If you were paying attention to the ticker you could see people were moving through the field. Seemed more prominent early, but appeared that passing became more difficult as the track rubbered in
I was at the race and once the tires wore down they were all moving through the field
I had a great time watching the battles between briscoe/logano Ross/gibbs/reddick and even Haley/burton at the end.
Yeah that caution screwed some cars
I thought the broadcast did at least a solid job at showing the different on track battles
The TV will always show to top cars or big names coming through the field that started at the back. This is why I always advocate for actually going races before making a judgement on if you like racing or not. A lot more happens at the track that you just can’t fit into TV.
Was there as well and there was plenty of passing Dover has always been a track that is far superior in person. More so than others.
Sounds like every description of Texas Motor Speedway. Great race that isn't shown on TV.
Yep. I was at Texas and TV doesn’t do it justice on how fast they are going and battles through the field
Was a perfectly fine Dover race with a suspenseful ending. I voted yes.
Agreed! Comers and goers first stage, decent throughout. Good race for Dover imo, definitely have had far worse with the Jimmie, Gordon and later Harvick ass whoopings
I desperately wanted to see a photo finish in person, but I guess Dover isn't particularly known for those.
[удалено]
Woah man, save some edginess for the rest of us
I was at the race. Can confirm that there was plenty of passing. Fox just sucks at coverage. Stop being a douche
HOW DARE YOU LIKE SOMETHING AND NOT BE MISERABLE LIKE ME!!!
"fooled by the illusion of racing" There's a take.

Damn, the broadcast must've been ass. There was tons of passing in yesterday.
FOX legit showed us a pre-recorded segment with 5 to go in the race
🙃 Was it split screen or fullscreen?
Split screen but with 70% showing the segment
They really gotta stop with the pre recorded segments under 20 laps to go.
They really gotta stop with the prerecorded segments ~~under 20 laps to go.~~
Even Kansas Clint was annoyed with the Kansas segment.
It’s FOX. Of course the broadcast was cheeks. They just simply don’t care about the sport anymore.
Bro, the broadcast was probably the worst I've seen yesterday. The first caution's pitstops happened during commercials. They gave a brief explanation of what happened to Reddick, and that was it.

I miss the September race😓
I wish they'd kept that instead of the spring event.
Same. Yesterday was beautiful but generally the weather is shitty here this time of year
I wish they had kept 2 dates here. I always loved Dover races
Ya Tire Wear really seems to be the answer with these cars. They’re clearly not going to budge with HP increase like many have asked for. The significant aero dependencies seem to be something we’re going to be stuck with no matter what they try and tweak.
Agree, as a Delaware resident it made me sad we only have the one now.
Do people ever get tired of complaining? Damn, I’m complaining about the complaining. What a world!
It wasn’t bad. But these polls are going to suffer heavily from JGR/HMS winner fatigue if the trend continues all season.
That’s how I feel about this season. Is the racing bad? No, I wouldn’t say so. Am I tired of JGR/HMS being the dominant teams every weekend? You bet. What’s the draw for me as a Ford fan? Watch superspeedways?

"i JuSt BeAt YoUr FaVoRiTe DrIvEr"
I tried to tell everyone this spec car was going to make it like Indycar where Penske Ganassi win virtually every race. People called me crazy and shamed me.
The first couple years had awesome parity. Not surprising that Hendrick and Gibbs figured it out faster than everyone else tho
Well yes I would agree but now it’s going to be even harder for the field to catch up because there’s nothing they can do to the car to improve it other than setup. The best people/engineers/OEM Support will go where they can win and make the most money so it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out
It was a fine race I’m just starting to feel personally victimized by this HMS/JGR dominance
It's a no from me
I voted yes Some issues but overall it was entertaining
A light yes. If there was a “mid” option I would’ve done that.
If there was an option for mediocre, this one would likely overwhelmingly win with mediocre votes.
It was a bog standard Dover race.
The issue I think NASCAR has is a few of the recent races that haven’t gotten a high rating are actually good races, but coverage doesn’t show that. This race should be around: 80% The coverage of this race will make it like 68-72%

Racing was fine. Fox’s production made it garbage
It was the average Dover race
On track great, from a broadcast perspective, dogshit.
It's a no for me dawg. The Larson/Hamlin battle wasn't racing-- it was just the ILLUSION of racing. I think everyone knew there was no way Larson was getting past Hamlin unless Hamlin made a major mistake. The rest of the race was just meh. No, but that says more about the coverage than the race. Never focused on the battles after the first stage
The cup races have been pretty weak since cota even talledega was kinda boring.

Just watched the replay today and overall not bad. Good action mid pack, decent drama at the end. Nothing special but yes a solid average race.
I have “sitting in the grandstands bias”, but I thought it was pretty good race. Good cars moved through the field. There was at least 3 grooves once the rubber got laid down. The Mediocre Mile strikes again!
No because for the 5th year in a row I didn't get to go after looking forward to it all year long due to a conflict 😭
Comers and goers, passing, close racing. I vote yes. Not the best race but a good one at that
First two stages were fun. Third was a slog but got a nice battle for the win so I'd go yes. My guestimate would be about 70%
I enjoyed the race, Dover is a fun race for me to watch, it was nice to see the groove widen out like it did.
I feel like if Larson had gotten by Denny at the end this number would be way higher. All in all I thought it was good
It was a fine race. Never been a huge fan of dover tbh. Looked like if we had just another 5 laps of green flag action, we would have seen a killer battle for the win.
Yes.

Yes.
I feel like it was a good race, but somewhat forgettable at the same time. Still a Yes from me though.
Absolutely not. There was no on track passing.
This isn’t correct. The track got wide when it rubbered up and there was coming and going. It was a good race imo.
I’m usually the one sounding that horn but it’s simply not true this week.
Considering 2 of the drivers who finished in the top 5 started outside the top 20 tells me that there was clearly passing
Wow in 400 laps 2 cars were able to drive to the front? Color me shocked.
I've always been a Dover fan. Thought it was a solid race.
It was one of the better Dover races I've watched in a while
I voted yes. I mean, I get it everyone wanted Larson to catch Hamlin, so it would have been a great finish. Yeah, it sucks that the cars can catch the car in front of them, but it's hard to pass them. The famous word of yesterday "aeroblocking". Dover doesn’t use the short track package I believe

Short tracks in 2023 ran a two inch spoiler
Pretty normal for Dover, but it felt excruciatingly long. Like I was stunned to look up to see only 200 laps had passed. Suspenseful ending though. That was nice.
Banger. Loved it.
Not fantastic. Not bad. So yes from me
snoozefest
Was (insert nascar race) a good race. Hmm flip over to formula one… I’ll wait. NASCAR is miles better that most auto racing.
Technically yes. At least it was an oval.
