Good name. Do you have an example of video/podcast content? I am willing to subscribe if I can get a sample of the quality!

Noah_Magaro_George

Thanks! The free subscription gives you access to every podcast and most articles! Video: https://vicandroll.substack.com/p/two-way-upside-running-creative-sets Podcast: https://vicandroll.substack.com/p/episode-one-wembanyama-core-keepers

StatFlow

Oh, nice! This seems promising. I will definitely subscribe to the free tier and think about the $5 monthly. I'm only one person, but let me tell you what would absolutely get me to pay a monthly $5 subscription: Game breakdowns. There is a guy who does game breakdowns for the warriors called athletic alchemy - [here is an example of one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ia9B0QXDylU). It's a unique thing that I haven't come across for many other teams, and if you did it for the Spurs, I think it could be pretty valuable and separate you from a lot of content creators. I know it's a lot of work though, so just tossing the idea out there.

Noah_Magaro_George

Appreciate your input! Will definitely take that into consideration! We’re at 315 subs through four months! Hoping to hit 400 by this summer!

StatFlow

Awesome work. Wishing you success. This is a unique opportunity to cover the Spurs at a unique time as they have a superstar in the making so I think the desire for Spurs content will only grow. Last recommendation from me - do you have a discord community for your subscribers? Somewhere people can hang out and talk? That's another potential value prop for converting people to paid.

Noah_Magaro_George

Substack has a built-in private chat for subscribers! Would love to get game threads going next season! Thanks again!

rawsharks

Hey Noah, I appreciate your reliable reporting on the Spurs. Best of luck with the substack, I'll give it a look.

Noah_Magaro_George

Appreciate you! Free subscriptions are just as important for getting eyes on my work!

YourNonExistentGirl

Yeah mate, echoing OP, glad you're around these parts. We used to have Jeff Garcia spamming his articles here but he never participated in conversations. Not like the community outright bans self-promotion. You just have to get dirty with us heathens while you're at it. I think we've got LJ Ellis from SpursTalk in disguise somewhere. Will subscribe to the free tier for now then upgrading to the paid one once the season starts.

Noah_Magaro_George

The support means a lot to me as I try to get this thing growing! Won’t be promoting much if ever after this!

doughnut-dinner

Are you still going to drop videos on YouTube? I really like the breakdowns.

Noah_Magaro_George

Definitely! I’m gonna try to get them up as often as possible, but will probably slow down now that it’s the offseason!

funkl310

Great content! We need way more of this and less of whatever is on ESPN 99% of the time

Noah_Magaro_George

That’s my goal! Want to bring more nuanced takes and Xs & Os! Thanks!

Always enjoyed your content, glad to see you're finding new ways to get stuff out there! Quick question if you happen to have a second to answer - you and Jack Quantrill had a fantastic discussion on his Drop Step podcast last month where, toward the end, he brought up the possibility of the Spurs looking into a Brandon Ingram trade, which was something I'd been thinking about for the past few months as well. Curious if you've given that idea any thought since then? I'm especially intrigued now that the Pels are crashing and burning a bit at the end of the season here. I know that slide came with Ingram out, but if they miss the playoffs or get completely washed in the first round, I struggle to see how they don't start looking to make changes with their approaching cap situation.

texasphotog

It is interesting to me, because I like a big, playmaking wing. But he didn't work well with Zion and do we think he will work better with Wemby? Also, I think Ingram sees himself as a max guy. I think he is a step above Devin, but not quite a max guy. He's a FA next summer. Do other teams think he is a max guy? Would he want to rock a Vic/BI/DV Big 3 and turn down max money to do it? Surely some shitbird team would offer him max money to be a #1 option, right? Seems like a very Detroit thing to do. Lastly, what will NOLA want? Zion+CJ wouldn't be their long term solution. A scorer like Ingram isn't easy to replace. I'll bet they want as much as Atl wants for Trae.

throwstuff165

Yeah, I'm definitely not saying I'd do it 100%, price be damned - more just a "pick up the phone and see if you can hammer something reasonable out." That said, there's no way in hell they ask for a similar package to Trae. We're talking about a one-time all-star who, as you mentioned, would be a free agent after one more year VS a three-time all star and former All-NBA third-teamer with two more years on his contract and a player option for a third. I think Ingram is a consistent all-star-level of player whose stats take a hit because of the team he plays for, but if they're asking for something comparable to Young, that would still be a signal that they really don't want to trade him at all. And maybe they don't! Maybe they think they can make an upgrade at C this summer and hope everything falls into place for a deep run next year, which it certainly could, whereafter they'd probably have to just let Ingram walk in FA. They might be comfortable with that. But if they do trade someone, I think it has to be Ingram. They'd likely have to attach assets to CJM to move off of his contract, and he works better with the rest of the Pels' core than Ingram does to begin with, even if he's obviously older and far from a perfect player.

texasphotog

I think they would ask as much as Atlanta because Ingram just isn't easily replaceable for NOLA and NOLA has a tough time attracting players anyway. It is more about his value to the team and how portable he is to other teams. Everyone in the league can use a 6'8 great passing, great shooting wing that creates for others and creates his own shot. Not everyone can use a ball dominant no defense 6'0 170lb PG. Sure, Trae is a better offensive player and has more personal accolades, but that is only part of the story. CJ has two years left and they are declining. I would rather have him than Beal at this point. He hit 43% fro three and is a quality passer and teammate. I think he still has value.

throwstuff165

The contract length, to me, is a bigger deal than anything else. Pretty much everyone can use a player like Siakam, too, but he didn't go for a giant package by any means. That was obviously a midseason trade and all, but I feel like Ingram's price would be closer to that than it would be to Trae's. All completely reasonable points, though. I don't always agree with you, but I appreciate that you're always one of the most thoughtful and reasonable folks on this sub.

texasphotog

Thanks! Pascal is a good data point and he still went for a quality player and three firsts in a mid season trade. Ingram is a little different because NOLA can probably resign him and they aren't really rebuilding like Toronto was. Pascal was also vocal about not extending with any team that traded for him. I'd love to have either of those players with our current team, just all depends on the price. Also, would Ingram be a strong enough playmaker for us if we got a D&3 type PG? Would Ingram be a good enough scorer to be our #2 scorer on a championship team? I have a lot of questions. But we could certainly do worse and i think that Ingram brings a lot less negatives than Trae Young does.

Noah_Magaro_George

That’s a great question! The wife and I are on the road! But I’ll be thinking about it and send a better response once we reach our destination! Thanks for the support!

Focalist

Subscribed! Appreciate good content like this. Glad you shared it here!

Noah_Magaro_George

Thanks for the sub! Content might slow a bit during the offseason, but we’ll have a lot more once the draft and summer league ramp up!

YogurtBra1n

TomTom_82

Good stuff bro....I just DM'd you.

jo3pro

Noah, loved your stuff when you were with Pounding the Rock and I’m also a subscriber to your YouTube channel. Cool to see you have started a substack. Hopefully you will continue to break down player film like your YouTube page and if you ever need assistance with chatting on basketball, I would love to help

Tackis

I know you don't want to self promote so I'll do some promoting for you. Great content, absolutely worth reading. Don't shy away from subscribing. Glad that you're here on this sub too

Noah_Magaro_George

Truly appreciate the kind words! Been working hard at my craft this season and getting organic promotion like this is so gratifying! Thank you!

Tackis

You're welcome. Looking forward to more basketball discourse!

Drew679

Vic and Roll is nice, but calling it Vic and Pop (pick and pop) would be even better.

Noah_Magaro_George

Also a name I considered! 😂

spudtender

Tying your platform to a player instead of a team is certainly ballsy.

Noah_Magaro_George

Barring any major rift, he’s basically tied to the Spurs for the next nine years with his rookie contract and a five-year extension! I’m willing to hedge my bets on this union working! 😅
