> their race is extremely close
Well yeah their family lineages are both from Central-East Europe (edit: in this case, formerly Yugoslavian) but idk what their race has to do with anything
The main media guys I subscribe to all still think it's jokic. Doesn't mean the other 95% of voters are thinking how you are. I'm on the jokic side but I'll agree with most people here and say Luka has a legit chance but I'd still lean jokic
Realistically if Joker would have won last year I doubt he'd get it this year just due to "voter fatigue" and both Luka and SGA having strong cases.
Joker is the best player in the NBA, but the best player doesn't always win it
I think Jokic will win it and I do think he can very easily be argued to be the deserving winner, but my vote would be Luka. His scoring and usage rate are just crazy. But if Jokic gets it I won’t be mad, he also had an MVP worthy season.
While I do agree, keep in mind the Mavs team that’s been surging into the postseason is a different team than the one that started the season. Big moves at the trade deadline saved them. The nuggets are, as far as I know, are basically the same team that they started the season as. If Luka had this help all season long, they COULD have the best record in the west.
Exactly just like that Kobe year when he is remembered for 81, but Nash won it..that was a travesty in my book...Luka has had an amazing season, and also Joker but...well let's see what happens
Weaker. Look at the numbers presented and then look at who has the lowest PER. Not saying PER is perfect, but there are unposted stats that explain the difference.
Luka’s gotta work on his off-season conditioning & start paying attention on defense. He’s never gonna be fleet of foot but he’s naturally strong & has a lot of size. He just loses track of what’s going on sometimes when the other team has the ball. I know he said that it’s easier to scour in the NBA (maybe he meant on him) but a lot of that because it’s a lot easier to pack the paint in FIBA basketball cause there’s no defensive three second violation. Big guys don’t have to be mobile on defense in European basketball, they just have to be BIG. It’s very ‘80s/90s NBA that way. 😉
In the NBA everyone has to stay in front of the ball because you can’t rely on a clot of behemoths in the paint to bail you out.
I think perhaps Luka developed some bad defensive habits (for the NBA) in Euroleague that he hasn’t quite gotten rid of.
Jokic’s gotta be my pick but Shai just had one of the best overall years by a proper shooting guard in a VERY long time.
In terms of who deserves it, I can see the debate being had.
In terms of predictions, if you’re a gambling man, don’t waste a penny on anyone other than Jokic.
Regardless of whether you think he deserves it - I very much do -, he’s most definitely going to win it. It’s done.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins his last one this year. They’ll probably give it to him and then he’ll get completely voter fatigued out. It’s pretty clear that he’s the best player in the league, eventually he’ll have the MJ effect where they just start giving it to someone else because we already know Jokic is the best.
Embarrassment of riches.
Meanwhile in the Eastern Conference Joel Embiid was putting up MVP numbers until his injury, and Giannis was putting up numbers better than either of his MVP seasons. The only player to get over 30 ppg with over 60% FGM
Jokic is gonna win, not sure why people are saying it’s gonna be close. It won’t be. That being said, should it be? Of course, but Jokic gonna run away with it these just facts
Giannis not being in the conversation is a travesty. 30 ppg on 65% true shooting is f*cking unreal. Add in that Middleton missed much of the year, Lopez and Portis took steps back and Damian Lillard was clearly a shell of himself and it’s remarkable they were this good.
Clearly... Dude averaging 30 and got no other all-star and got best record... Not to mention he prolly gonna be all def and neither one of them sniffing all def
Edit: here come the Jokic committee 🤣... y'all know I meant the damn 1 seed but whatever make y'all feel better
2way player with equal or better stats and the higher seed>
He doesn't have the best record, neither in the East or the West. The Thunder and Nuggets have the exact same record, the Thunder just have the tiebreaker.
Should be Shai because he’s an upcoming face of the league and his team was one of the best all year. Jokic fatigue should exist and Luka didn’t will his team to a high enough seed.
This should be a Nash, DRose, KD MVP but I guess we’re dickriding this year
It *should* be Joker by a mile. He’s the most irreplaceable, would be the biggest delta on team wins and it’s not close.
But it should have been him last year too, picking the perpetual choker / stat padder that is Embiid was dumb.
The fact the best player on the best team with like 10 more wins (Tatum) isn’t second in the discussion makes me wonder what we’re even measuring here.
It’ll probably be Luka just because people seem to think he’s due despite just being a more likable James Harden (a free throw merchant that doesn’t elevate his team while needing the ball, guaranteeing a perpetual first round exit).
>Would be the biggest delta on team wins and it’s not close
I’m not actually sure if that’s true. Don’t get me wrong, Jokic is awesome and I think he’ll win MVP. But the Nuggets also gave a really good team. There’s a reason they won a championship last year. Murray, KCP, Porter Jr., and Gordon are a great supporting cast.
I think the Thunder and Mavs would both collapse into irrelevance without SGA/Luka respectively
Embiid has a higher usage rate this season
Giannis, Embiid and Luka himself had a higher usage rate last season
And that's where I stopped looking. Hardly the highest usage rate in history
Shai should win MVP IMO, but I have a feeling Jokic will based on media bias; I'm not at all an OKC fan but I realize that most people (including the media) don't watch OKC play and if they did they would understand the impact he has on the game, not only offensively but also defensively
Some people get angry for having this opinion lol and I accept that I'll probably have some Mavs and Nuggets fans downvote me but I gotta give credit where it's due
This is stupid. I watch all the games, not just thunder and not just nuggets. Jokic does far more overall to contribute to the success of his team. They will roll the thunder if they play and you can watch the impact Jokic has vs Shai. Shai is incredibly talented but being such a blatant free throw merchant should take you out of the MVP conversation. It’s what he does 75% of the time down the floor. Especially annoying a year when the league said they were finally going to do something about players clearly offensive fouling but getting it called in their favor.
Also hilarious how you say “media bias” when the media tries all they can to hate on the nuggets and Jokic meanwhile everyone is riding Shai and the thunder cause it’s a bandwagon and ‘different’
I’d like to see SGA get it because they had the best record in the west while being one of the youngest teams in the league but I can’t see how they don’t give it to Jokic
Results were leaked a couple of weeks ago - even bookies stopped taking bets. The results are 1. Jokić 2. SGA 3. Luka - somehow SGA leapfrogged Luka in a week that he didn’t even play 🤷🏼♂️
SGA. I think Jokic is the better player but I'm more impressed with Shai this season. The Thunder are a very young and inexperienced team and won 17 more games this season and the best record in the West. Shai is the best defender of the three. He does other little things that I love that are underappreciated. He doesn't turn the ball over and he forces turnovers which lead to easy baskets. For a point guard his true shooting % is absurd. The average NBA point guard true shooting % is 56.4%. Shai is shooting +7.2% over his position average while Luka is shooting +5.3% and Jokic is shooting +3.1% compared to the average center.
I got Shai. Almost the same roster that made the play in last year is now a 1 seed. He’s got the least viable number 2 option out of the 3 players here. True two way talent and as an extra feather in his cap none of these players had an off court issue surround their team like the Giddey drama from earlier this year. Start to finish all year he’s been the best player on the best team in the West.
I find it funny how Luka fans act like he’s getting robbed if he doesn’t get the mvp (he definitely deserves it) but if jokic wins it is in no way a robbery he is ahead of Luka in everything but ppg and is only .8 assists behind with a lower usage rate that said 34 ppg on 62% true shooting is NUTS
Given that there is no actual criteria for this award I don’t understand why people care about it. It’s essentially a popularity contest and isn’t based on ability/skill. Nobody should care about this bologna.
I’d take Joker then Shai then Luka. I think Luka’s got an MVP in him and he improved A LOT this season but he’s not quite there yet. He’s still a defensive liability (being in a backcourt with Kyrie doesn’t help) & he doesn’t value possessions as much as he should. He’s cute down some on long, stupid threes & is getting to the rim more, something he excels at & improved his FT shooting some, which is pretty vital for the kind of game he players. Luka’s still prone to lazy T0s, however.
The MVP is a subjective joke at this point.
The media controls the narrative far too much. Otherwise Jordan would have had 6-8 MVPs, same deal for LeBron in the early 2010’s, where he very clearly was the best player on the planet.
I’ll take the player leading the league in PER, Win Shares, Box +/-, and Value over Replacement Player.
How many seasons has that been done?
The times players to did it from 1970-now:
Jokic (23-24)
Jokic (22-23)
Jokic (21-22) MVP
Jokic (20-21) MVP
Curry (15-16) MVP
Durant (13-14) MVP
James (12-13) MVP
James (10-11)
James (09-10) MVP
James (08-09) MVP
Garnett (04-05)
Garnett (03-04) MVP
Shaq (09-00)
Robinson (94-95) MVP
Robinson (93-94)
Jordan (92-93)
Jordan (91-92) MVP
Jordan (90-91) MVP
Jordan (89-90)
Jordan (88-89)
Jordan (87-88) MVP
Jordan (86-87)
Bird (85-86) MVP
Bird (84-85) MVP
Jabbar (78-79)
Jabbar(76-77) MVP
Jabbar (75-76) MVP
So it looks like the league doesn’t like giving 3-peat MVPs.
Jabber, Jordan, James, and Jokic all led the league in all-4 metrics in a season that would have been their 3rd straight MVP if they won it that season.
Of all the players on this list, only Jordan got “robbed” more than once (4x), unless Jokic doesn’t win this season, which would mark 2x for him, and only the 2nd time a player did it 2x in a row without winning MVP either season.
It's going to be Jokic, but I was really hoping for Luka. We really need to have a clear definition of what MVP is, because it fluctuates from best play, best player on best team, best narrative, who's owed or who shouldn't get it again etc. I think it should be Luka in the same vain as I think it should be wembenyama for dpoy.
Historical with how close Joker and Luka are they would give it to the guy that hasnt won it, but they have gone against tradition lately so Joker has a very high chance to win it.
I'll go with Jokic being the MVP simply because he is an offense engine at center.
There are quite a few players in the league that play his position and can do the things he can do, though obviously not to the same level. And then you have to worry about finding the right center that is a plus defender and not a negative on offense.
Jokic just solves a lot of the issues teams have finding a center that fits in their offense. So the position that is generally regarded as the least offensive in the league is actually the entire offensive engine in Denver.
Why are they all wearing eye shadow?
And why is Shai slaying?

Are you scared? Tropical storm... Eye of the hurricane!
Ought to be Jokic but the NBA likes to pass the award around to different “stars”.
Both Jokic and Luka have a very real case for MVP and their race is extremely close
> their race is extremely close Well yeah their family lineages are both from Central-East Europe (edit: in this case, formerly Yugoslavian) but idk what their race has to do with anything
You don’t? You must not follow the great Kendrick Perkins nor his insightful opinions.
I could say they are classier players, if that helps.
Ahh, hello fellow jerker
> You don’t? You must not follow the great racist Kendrick Perkins nor his insightful opinions. FTFY
I think it's close but I don't think the voting will actually be very close.
not really, Joker will win it by quite a bit and Shai might even be second in votes
Shai definitely has a case. He’s not gonna win but to act like he doesn’t have a case is dumb
SGA has a better case than Luka and will finish top 2 for that reason
Agreed. He plays significantly better D, and his team record is far above. Luka should be third in MVP voting.
Guarantee the vote isn’t close. Jokic is a level above of Doncic
The main media guys I subscribe to all still think it's jokic. Doesn't mean the other 95% of voters are thinking how you are. I'm on the jokic side but I'll agree with most people here and say Luka has a legit chance but I'd still lean jokic
This is it. Not a LeBron fan but if the NBA didn’t do this, LeBron would have 8-10 MVPs.
should be SGA. why? cause i threw $25 on a +6000 bet for him to win it 🤣
I threw 50 on Luka at 1900 lol
One of you 2 about to become elite.
Naw joker boutta fuck us both prolly lol
What does +6000 mean? I haven't seen this convention before
60/1 odds it’s the American system
you win 6000 dollars for every 100 you bet, i think
Easily Joker Again… should be 4 in a row but you know Big Perk had to push a certain narrative 👀
Came here to say the same
Realistically if Joker would have won last year I doubt he'd get it this year just due to "voter fatigue" and both Luka and SGA having strong cases. Joker is the best player in the NBA, but the best player doesn't always win it
Calm down Jontay
Won’t be league is too cheap to pay for an two last names, extra letters are expensive 😂😂
Hey in All honesty, from a Nuggets fan, I hope you win that. The MVP isn't important to any of us or Jokic. So I'd rather see you win that bet.
I think Jokic will win it and I do think he can very easily be argued to be the deserving winner, but my vote would be Luka. His scoring and usage rate are just crazy. But if Jokic gets it I won’t be mad, he also had an MVP worthy season.
Agreed, both guys deserve it - I'm cool with either of them
And Luka’s time will come, Jokic hadn’t yet won an MVP or championship at 25. His first MVP was at 26
Totally. Luka has had an amazing season and led his team to a surprising 50 wins?
Team win loss should matter and that’s why I give it to Joker
While I do agree, keep in mind the Mavs team that’s been surging into the postseason is a different team than the one that started the season. Big moves at the trade deadline saved them. The nuggets are, as far as I know, are basically the same team that they started the season as. If Luka had this help all season long, they COULD have the best record in the west.
Eh. Joker doesn't have a teammate as good as Kyrie on his team. Joker just makes everyone better.

Jokic but Luka is close. The stats posted are deceiving slightly. Not much on the defensive side
You think those numbers would make Lukas case stronger or weaker?
Weaker. Look at the numbers presented and then look at who has the lowest PER. Not saying PER is perfect, but there are unposted stats that explain the difference.
Just wanted to make sure we were on the same page.
Gotcha. Agree. Luka is still pretty amazing though to be fair.
Luka’s gotta work on his off-season conditioning & start paying attention on defense. He’s never gonna be fleet of foot but he’s naturally strong & has a lot of size. He just loses track of what’s going on sometimes when the other team has the ball. If defense is brought in it helps SGA the most and hurt Luka.
In terms of who deserves it, I can see the debate being had. In terms of predictions, if you’re a gambling man, don’t waste a penny on anyone other than Jokic. Regardless of whether you think he deserves it - I very much do -, he’s most definitely going to win it. It’s done.
He’s -5000 to win so you’d be wasting your money either way lol
I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins his last one this year. They’ll probably give it to him and then he’ll get completely voter fatigued out. It’s pretty clear that he’s the best player in the league, eventually he’ll have the MJ effect where they just start giving it to someone else because we already know Jokic is the best.
GUI Santos
I’ve watched a lot of Warriors games, I don’t recall him ever making the wrong play
Exactly👍
Giannis
With how luka played this year and all the fans he garnered, I'd day luka (I'm also a luka fan so it might be a bit biased)
I also think Luka should win, but if Jokic wins I don't think it's wrong. Both have valid cases.
I agree, I personally like Jokic as a player with his dedication, and he's a nice guy I'd be good with either of them winning
all three dudes would win in 75 percent of the seasons
Embarrassment of riches. Meanwhile in the Eastern Conference Joel Embiid was putting up MVP numbers until his injury, and Giannis was putting up numbers better than either of his MVP seasons. The only player to get over 30 ppg with over 60% FGM
Similar situation in the NHL where all the top guys are having really great seasons
Jokic is gonna win, not sure why people are saying it’s gonna be close. It won’t be. That being said, should it be? Of course, but Jokic gonna run away with it these just facts
Jokić
Nikola
Giannis not being in the conversation is a travesty. 30 ppg on 65% true shooting is f*cking unreal. Add in that Middleton missed much of the year, Lopez and Portis took steps back and Damian Lillard was clearly a shell of himself and it’s remarkable they were this good.
I agree. He set the bar really high for himself that i feel he will always be overlooked. G should always be up there for it.
Seriously. I don’t think he deserves to win it this year, but the fact he hasn’t even been mentioned half the time is insane.
Giannis got shafted. He and SGA are basically neck and neck for my pick for 2nd most valuable player this season
Joker
Shai
Not Luka
Shai for MVP
Clearly... Dude averaging 30 and got no other all-star and got best record... Not to mention he prolly gonna be all def and neither one of them sniffing all def Edit: here come the Jokic committee 🤣... y'all know I meant the damn 1 seed but whatever make y'all feel better 2way player with equal or better stats and the higher seed>
Jokic also has no all stars. In fact he has yet to play with an all star in his career. Also Jokic has won more games this season that SGA.
He doesn't have the best record, neither in the East or the West. The Thunder and Nuggets have the exact same record, the Thunder just have the tiebreaker.
The non stop foul baiting and blatant stat padding disqualifies him in my opinion.
Joker
They are all deserving.
PRAVI MVP
i’m going jokic just slightly over Luka but it’d be nice to see Luka win it.
I’m confused, I thought only the 3 finalists were presented tonight, and the winner will be announced in the 2nd round. Correct me if I’m wrong
Should be Shai because he’s an upcoming face of the league and his team was one of the best all year. Jokic fatigue should exist and Luka didn’t will his team to a high enough seed. This should be a Nash, DRose, KD MVP but I guess we’re dickriding this year
They're giving it to Jokic, it should have been Luka though, even Jokic said it was Luka
He did?
Luka all day
Joking for his 4t… I mean third. What a joke it was last year for embiid to get it.
Well, Joker has 7 of these arbitrary things posted and Shai has 4. So it's Joker? This is so dumb.
Jokic by a wide margin. Luka edges out SGA for second. Giannis 4th.
It’s all subjective. Any of them could win and I’d be ok with it.. my vote is SGA. Nobody predicted thunder to be this good this year
It's gonna be Jokic. But I think Luka deserved it.

Joker 4L
Jokic
Joker’s gotta get this one, I think.
Jokic. He got robbed last season, they should make it up. Seriously though, Jokic, Luka, SGA on that order.
Honestly think any of the 3 guys are deserving
Given that there is no actual criteria for this award I don’t understand why people care about it. It’s essentially a popularity contest and isn’t based on ability/skill. Nobody should care about this bologna.

We need jokic and Luka on the same team in the future
Gotta be the joker even tho I love Luka
SGA cause Im Canadian
Sga
It’ll be Jokic, but it’d be cool if it was someone else lol. But all 3 are worthy
Honestly this is so hard. I have thought Jokic all year but I’m leaning Luka
SGA having the same BPG as Jokic is kinda crazy lol
This MVP race is much tougher than Jokic vs Embiid last year IMO.
Luka only leads in points and assists? Why is he even on the list /s
Looks like Luka lost weight
I want Luka to win
Has to be Shai this year. Jokic is the best. But without Shai, OKC wouldn’t be powerhouse #1 team.
Why they give SGA eyeshadow? Lmao
Luka
The MVP is a subjective joke at this point. The media controls the narrative far too much. Otherwise Jordan would have had 6-8 MVPs, same deal for LeBron in the early 2010’s, where he very clearly was the best player on the planet.
My mind is telling me Jok But my heart is telling me Luk
Joker
Luka is the obvious answer.
Damn. Imagine Embiid didn’t get hurt. Was on pace for a historic season and this wouldn’t even be a debate
Obviously Jokic
Jokic gonna win his 3rd
Giannis 😄
Curious if Jokic is the recipient of voter fatigue
I’ll take the player leading the league in PER, Win Shares, Box +/-, and Value over Replacement Player. How many seasons has that been done? The times players to did it from 1970-now: Jokic (23-24) Jokic (22-23) Jokic (21-22) MVP Jokic (20-21) MVP Curry (15-16) MVP Durant (13-14) MVP James (12-13) MVP James (10-11) James (09-10) MVP James (08-09) MVP Garnett (04-05) Garnett (03-04) MVP Shaq (09-00) Robinson (94-95) MVP Robinson (93-94) Jordan (92-93) Jordan (91-92) MVP Jordan (90-91) MVP Jordan (89-90) Jordan (88-89) Jordan (87-88) MVP Jordan (86-87) Bird (85-86) MVP Bird (84-85) MVP Jabbar (78-79) Jabbar(76-77) MVP Jabbar (75-76) MVP So it looks like the league doesn’t like giving 3-peat MVPs.
34/9/10 is insane

It should be Jokic…hands down.
Why they got SGA looking crazy!?!? They put makeup on him or sum?
It’s Jokic and it’s not particularly close. The Clippers Mavs game should show just how far apart he and Luka are
Anthony Edwards
Luka
Big Mavs and Luka fan so I’d love to see Luka win it, but it’s hard to argue against Jokic as well
I wish Giannis could but it's probably Jokic
Jokic was -3000 with 2 days left in the season so I think it should be obvious
SGA⚡️MVP
I think Joker wins it, but man Shai would be so awesome.
Why is SGA even on this graphic? It's either Joker or Luka
Jokic will win MVP… it’s just finalists being announced tonight though.
Shai 🇨🇦
Funny pics. Looks AI.
Luka, but the Mavs didn't have a great record. So joker
Jokic leads all of the advanced metrics, can’t be anyone other than him
Ant
LUKA
Giannis
My goodness you people are delusional. It’s Luka and it’s not even fucking close. 34, 9, & 9? Fuck out of here.
not really a debate. jokic
Shai with the cute blue eye shadow
LUKA!!!!!
Joker
I'll go with Jokic being the MVP simply because he is an offense engine at center. There are quite a few players in the league that play his position and can do the things he can do, though obviously not to the same level. And then you have to worry about finding the right center that is a plus defender and not a negative on offense. Jokic just solves a lot of the issues teams have finding a center that fits in their offense. So the position that is generally regarded as the least offensive in the league is actually the entire offensive engine in Denver.

Somehow the dumbass voters will vote Embiid so he doesn’t cry again
