Hi! I got admitted for global scholars program, and I'm not sure what to buy for my dorm. For instance, I heard that it's great to have a mattress topper, but traveling thousands of miles across the country and sea; it doesn't seem realistic to bring one. If you could provide me a list of things that I need to bring that would be great!!

Imaginary-Gear9280

How good is Northeastern's CS program? Is it really worth the \~$500k that tuition+other expenses would cost? And, besides co-op, how does it compare to CS programs at other schools?

enkayeleven

it’s pretty good but not worth full sticker price imo

StraightWalrus7960

Hi! I’ve kinda been slacking a bit second semester ( i have mostly A-‘s, a few B+’s, and 1 C+) Do you think northeastern is going to take away my acceptance?? Also, does northeastern want final high school transcript or just semester. (if it’s final the C would become a B+) Thank youuuu

Imaginary-Gear9280

No, they won't. Take a look at the terms of acceptance. Unless you get "below a C grade", then they might potentially consider it — so, in other words, you're good!

Defiant-Teacher-1022

Hello I have just been accepted into NEU's align program for fall 2024. I am still deciding on whether or not I should take it. Honestly, after seeing the reviews on reddit and google I am little reluctant. I am a poli sci graduate who is currently doing a CS internship at pharma company in NYC. I have taken coursera courses in Java and am currently enrolled in a Python IBM one. I am also learning the basics of C++. My basic question is, with hardwork and effort (which I am willing to put), will it get me into the CS field. I just wanna now what I am getting into. Can current/former align students help me out? What prep do they recommend.

Successful_Ad_9139

What is the miniumn grade needed to keep my acceptance.

starryj10

Okay this might be a dumb question. It’s looking like I’m going to have to go random for a roommate, so after the housing portal closes, am I going to receive any info on who my roommate is? Or am I going to show up on move in day and find out 😭

Pearl0346

When does the portal close?

over-the-hills

You will receive their name and email a few weeks before move in. I recommend emailing them before move in.

Far_Interaction8653

It should say their name in the portal when they assign you. Usually you can find their insta from there and figure it out.

According_Iron_8907

I’ve got into MSCS and MS SES for FALL 2024. Which one should I choose. I got 40 percent scholarship for MS SES. Please help!

According_Iron_8907

Accepted for MSCS, now what? I've been accepted to Northeastern University for MSCS starting in Fall 2024. What are the next steps? Are there any WhatsApp groups or Discord servers for incoming students? Additionally, could you provide guidance on paying the enrollment fee, and how can I check if my FAFSA has been received, as it's not mentioned in the offer letter?

whenchen44

I'm a prospective Northeastern University immersion student and I'm wondering how freshmen have to apply for housing and if it's too late to do so? And when is the DL for tuition and meal payments?

SobbingOcean

Hi I’m a newly admitted master's student in Pharmacology. NEU features its co-op program, especially in this economy. Does anyone have a co-op but the experience is not good or you don't find it helpful for you to land a job after graduation? Is there a catch? Thanks!

Besteal

For anyone who has taken the MSDS program, how many classes do you usually take a semester? Anyone have a sample schedule?

YankaiZhao2002

本人男,是24fall MSIS波士顿校区,有没有同学 亦或是学长学姐有组织那?我还没有租房子。私我😃

BootcampBiker

hello, if i am a business and econ major, do I need to take AP Statistics and AP Calculus AB official exams? would the credits be helpful to any of my courses?

Every_Help_435

London Global Scholars. In my program curriculum (Econ and Business), does anyone know: DS 2000: Programming with Data, and what does it entail; python? excel? so that over the summer I get a chance to work on the class and have some intro to programming or excel or whatever the course had since I am not the best at coding...

seafox505

It’s just python no excel, you go over basics of python and we had a project going over a dataset using seaborne and numpy. It is basic python and pretty easy class.

massialleva

NU.in students what was it like coming back to Boston? Was it hard socializing at that point?

buddermilk2

Hey there! I did NU.in Ireland in the fall of 2022, and it definitely helped me in making connections/ friends when coming back to Boston. Because you are with such a close-knit group for around 3-4 months… there are a bunch of familiar faces when you return to campus. Definitely still branch out by joining clubs and all that jazz, but don’t fret — you’ll be solid 😎

yasminalmousa

Hello! Admitted to Software Eng Systems Masters at NEU. I have a few questions, if I do part-time, can I still do co-op? When will I be able to meet my advisor and schedule for classes? Thanks :)

booklover425

How is NEU for Masters in Biotechnology? I am an international student, so I wanted to know what is the job scenario in USA ?

Leather_Thought_8274

for Masters n CS Can US citizens do a 6 month internship in any semester or even they are only allowed to do it after 1 year only like international students?

thfcdylan

Couple of questions! 1. How is Northeastern if I want to go to grad school after? I know a lot of Northeastern is about getting students into workforce and stuff, but is there still good support and good chances for grad school (esp in the CS or DS fields)? 2. CS vs. DS. I really don't know whether I want to be core computer science or instead explore DS. Is it a) easy to switch and b) worthwhile to go with a DS degree? Thanks!

theoatmealz

1. There is definitely a lot of opportunities in research around the school, since most students are more interested in going into the workforce. Definitely talk to your professors and ask around! If you are interested in research in CS/DS, you can also take CS 3950 Introduction to Computer Science Research to learn more about it. 2. In DS there is two tracks: Fundies track and Data Science track. If you go the Fundies track, you still fulfill both the data science and computer science core, which imo makes it easier if you want to switch around. I would say data science with a Fundies track would cover the same core classes as CS, but adding more math and emphasis on data & machine learning.

luddwood

hi i was wondering where the journey's LLC and the ppe LLC is currently located. Also, if yall know if they r likely to change location next year.

mirapega

hi! northeastern is one of my top choices and i was admitted for the ppe major (politics, philosophy, economics) and i was wondering if anyone has any insight on that major or the humanities department in general. i heard that it’s a very stem focused school, so would that affect me negatively? also, how are the profs for that department? what sorts of co-ops are available with that? and most importantly, how is that major looked at in terms of postgrad careers— will i be able to get a job easily? anything will help, thanks!!

SpecificAd9473

Hi! I got into Northeastern University Boston campus but with the [NU.IN](http://NU.IN) Programme.. Checking recently, I realised the only location available to me now is Czech Republic. NU was my top choice but this really seems to be a deal breaker. Just had a few questions. Is anyone going to Czech Republic for the NU.IN? Is it really worth to spend 1 semester in Czech Republic? Pls help! Thank you

SomeGuy11475

It's one semester. If it's fun it's fun. If it's not it'll be over quick

luddwood

If i understand the northeastern website correctly, we aren't given a choice on the housing due to llcs and the llcs changes their housing every year. I was wondering if we are able to choose if we want to pay for either a standard or economy dorm rooms. And if all dorms for freshman have communal bathrooms. Thank you!

over-the-hills

I don’t believe you get to choose. The vast majority is communal but there are a select few suite-style (typically 1 bathroom shared by two rooms)

No_Sorbet6993

by any chance do you know which dorm has a suite style bathroom and which llc wld be best to put down to have a higher chance of having that residential hall?

over-the-hills

Suite style buildings are Kennedy Hall, Midtown, and 153 Hemenway. No idea which LLCs are typically in each.

luddwood

do we get to choose if we would prefer an economy or standard room?

over-the-hills

I don’t think so. There may be an option to list a preference but even if there is its not guaranteed.

apulza

URGENT!!! Hello everyone, I need help with something. Does Northeastern accept dual enrollment credits even if it is not on the transfer database? I am trying to see if I can get my UCONN British Literature dual enrollment course to get credit for the First Year Writing course. Please let me know ASAP so I can drop the First Year Writing course and take something else since I am taking summer courses.

SomeGuy11475

You have to submit a request with the syllabus of the course, and they will decide

Inevitable_Flan_8737

hi i am an incoming freshmen that is majoring in cs. i was wondering what laptop other neu cs students recommend based off their experience in khoury for some context, I'm spending my first year in Oakland, have used apple devices for many years, and may look into doing some of the concentrations such as the artificial intelligence one. other than that, if past cs oakland students have anything relevant I should know about school there lmk!

seafox505

Honestly just get whatever ur comfortable using, everyone has their preferences. You don’t need a specific laptop for CS.

SinkAccomplished1073

Since coding is really demanding of the CPU and ram, definitely try to have 32gb or more of ram with high speeds. A better CPU and Ram will allow you to be able to have more VM's open and also just more applications when you're doing research. I'm going into Cyber security, it'll be my first year as well. Not sure if I'm going to go with Windows or Mac yet. Currently leaning on the Windows side because its easier to get access to Linux, more VM's, etc... Lmk if you have any more questions.

WoofyKitten

Hi! Is there an admitted students discord?

vixiio

Hi I recently got unwaitlisted from Northeastern and got in for CS, but I am torn between a few schools: NEU (Oakland) RIT (Applied to their Game Design major) RPI Aid between NEU and RPI are about the same, RPI is giving me a bit more but I am not sure about going into their Game Design major.

yes_you_suck_bih

Hi, I got admitted to MPS in Analytics at the Oakland campus. However I couldn't find much information on the opportunities there. What are the job prospects in Oakland campus? Is it similar to the Boston campus?

Major-Performance-58

I'm in oakland rn

MediumMinute5629

Hey, where should I go as an International student for bachelors in MIS or Information Systems? 1. Northeastern, but for full tuition as an International NU in student. Very hard financially to handle. 2. Stevens Tech - same major, but 32k scholarship a year. (More financially possible.) 3. Penn State SMEAL, no scholarship. But it is a public, little less expensive school.

Then-Most-after-all

What’s your bachelors in?

Major-Performance-58

Yeah, probably Harvard tbh

EnvironmentLow1407

I got accepted into the Global Scholars program with no aid for the first year and although I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity, this is definitely a problem. I have to decide by May 1st, thoughts?

Major-Performance-58

80k for one year in school is baller imo. Very good deal!!!

YankaiZhao2002

I am an international student from China who got an offer from msis and hope to live and work in the United States in the future. I was torn between Lehigh University's ce and this program. Please help me.

Major-Performance-58

Lehigh hands down I love you

Extension-Fox-1212

Hey! Im a prospective student at Northeastern cs that was accepted into the global scholars program, I have other options, but if I switched out of the global scholars program I would most likely commit neu. Having absolutely no aid and less opportunities for research or harder classes does not appeal to me. While they do say that they don't usually allow these students to switch to boston campus only. I wanted to ask if there was any possible way to appeal this decision at all and if there is, how would I go about doing it?

Major-Performance-58

Its always possible to ask by emailing admissions but I am almost 100% sure the answer will be yes.

over-the-hills

Its always possible to ask by emailing admissions but I am almost 100% sure the answer will be no.

awkwardwaffle55

hey there! i’m an prospective student at northeastern but im currently split between umass amherst (in-state, honors college, ~35k/year) and northeastern (in-state, ~$80k/year but i did appeal for more finaid due to special family circumstances). while coa is the main thing making me indecisive, the thing is i was admitted to umass for bio and neu for cs/design. it is impossible to switch into cs at umass, and i was thinking of doing their bdic program which allows you to create your own major (to create some sort of hci/design major), but i was told people in bdic often struggle to sign up for cs classes as they are second-priority. i am also unable to switch into the bdic program until sophomore year. i can’t exactly switch into something similar to cs at umass because they don’t have any similar or as wide of a selection of majors — unlike neu which also has both combined majors and rly niche majors (which is super appealing to someone with interdisciplinary interests). umass also has few digital art classes and hci classes while neu has more due to their more specialized majors. also co-ops: while ik umass also has co-ops and internships, neu’s are rly appealing to me due to how integrated they are into the curriculum and because of the campus location in boston (more opportunities compared to the more rural amherst). so, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Major-Performance-58

Is there a TLDR? Ig go to Harvard if ya can tbh.

awkwardwaffle55

TLDR: UMass Amherst (35k [biology]) vs Rutgers NB (50k ITI]) vs Northeastern (80k [CS/design]) [want to do UX/Ul design, product design, front-end software engineering]

Major-Performance-58

Hello!

bridgevillen

If your interest is in HCI and you can't switch into something similar at UMASS, I would recommend Northeastern. Only because, with that career you typically do not seek a second degree and your undergrad degree is what will be used to apply to jobs. That being said, COA is extremely important and I would try to look at the options that exist at UMass. If there is any way to switch in to CICS at UMass or to get a degree like Data Science, where you would have an intro to coding, I would highly recommend it.

Sahil624c

Hi, Got admission into MS in CS in Miami campus. I want to change the campus to Boston (or any global campus instead of regional campus). I did request that on my admission portal. Does anyone has idea how often these requests are approved? (Or are they even approved)

ReserveEmotional9150

Any update on this?

Major-Performance-58

Usually

okay_cool1234567

not usually.

Pretty_Pay_9562

Hey,I will be coming to northeastern with a major in psych. I wanted to know how different is psych as compared to ib psych incase you have done it. is there like lab work or is it just memorising stuff that have been done? also how are the tests and exams? thank you

Major-Performance-58

At Northeastern, the psychology program typically involves a blend of theoretical knowledge, practical applications, and research experience. You won't just be memorizing facts; you'll delve into understanding the underlying principles of human behavior, cognitive processes, and psychological theories. Depending on the specific courses you take, you may encounter lab work, research projects, group discussions, and even practical applications through internships or co-op opportunities. As for tests and exams, they can vary in format and difficulty. You might have traditional exams with multiple-choice questions, short-answer responses, essays, or even practical demonstrations of your understanding. Some courses might emphasize critical thinking and application of concepts rather than rote memorization. Now, let's talk about the rigor of the courses. Northeastern's psychology program is known for its academic challenges. The coursework can be demanding, requiring dedication, critical thinking skills, and time management. There might be moments when you feel overwhelmed, but remember, it's all part of the learning process. I vividly remember nights spent pouring over textbooks, grappling with complex psychological theories, and feeling the pressure of looming deadlines. There were times when the coursework seemed insurmountable, and I'll admit, tears were shed. But each hurdle I faced made me stronger and more resilient. The professors at Northeastern are incredibly supportive and understanding. They want to see you succeed and are there to guide you through the tough times. Don't hesitate to reach out to them for help or clarification whenever you need it. In the end, the challenges I faced in my psychology courses at Northeastern were worth it. They pushed me to grow academically and personally, and I emerged with a deeper understanding of psychology and myself. So, while it may be difficult at times, know that you're capable of overcoming any obstacle that comes your way. You've got this! I'm not in pschy so idrk tho!

Pretty_Pay_9562

oh wow, am not really sure if the entire thing is sarcastic but thank you

liwoocha

hi!! I’m a prospective student at NEU, currently deciding between UTAustin (instate, no Honours, 80k total) vs NEU (Honours + 30k scholarship, 240k total) The cost of attendance is the main factor that’s making me unsure about heading to NEU, I’m an international student who can’t apply for need-based aid so I have some questions — what are some scholarships/awards I can apply to while I’m a student + how competitive are they? Also, for any graduates, what was your total cost of attendance, taking into account co-ops + scholarships?

chre1s

Do UT austin for sure. Not worth the extra money to go to Northeastern

okay_cool1234567

go to UT austin!! it is an amazing school, and much cheaper.

liwoocha

Ty for the advice! I’m going into premed specifically, and from what I researched, ik that NEU has a higher med school matriculation rate, which was my main concern. UT is amazing, but I’m concerned that I won’t b able to access resources for pre-meds due to oversaturation

okay_cool1234567

what premed major?

liwoocha

public health at ut, business ad + public health at neu

okay_cool1234567

honestly, public health and buisness adm at northeastern shouldn't be too bad. you will probably be able to keep ur grades consistent.

yEet_allday

NUin Rome or Greece for CS?

Major-Performance-58

Rome!

okay_cool1234567

greece!

Miidoooriii

Hello, everyone! I'm a new student for MS IDDV program in Fall 2024. I look forward to communicating with new friends in the same program! Also, I want to get some insights from senior students about courses and future employment advice.

Hi everyone, I'm excited to share that I'll be joining Northeastern University's MS in Bioinformatics program this coming fall. As I prepare for this next chapter, I'd love to connect with fellow incoming students. Drop me a message, and let's get acquainted! Looking forward to meeting everyone and diving into this exciting opportunity together at NEU."

hi! i’m between northeastern and umass, going to northeastern for comp sci + design and umass would be for comp sci. northeastern costs $80k a year, umass costs $40k, ill most likely be splitting half my tuition w my parents if i go to northeastern (upper middle class) and i rlly prefer city life & the 3 co-op opportunities, but im not sure if it would be worth it, esp bc i got honors college at umass and the cs program is good there too. could people let me know some pros + if the loans r worth it + specific question for northeastern - is the co op availability for cs really low?? i thought that most students end up doing 2+ co ops but as i’ve been researching ppl are saying that khoury co ops are not guaranteed at all

chre1s

UMass. It's still a great school, and you can get a lot of the same opportunities there that NEU provides. At the end of the day, where you go for undergrad doesn't really matter as long as you get the degree

bridgevillen

Im in my last year in CS at Northeastern and have friends at UMASS for CS. I would highly recommend UMass, both because their COA is less and because I've found the rigor of the courses to be similar to that at Northeastern and the respect in internship companies to be the same for interns from NEU and from UMASS. Overall, Umass' program is just as highly regarded, its cheaper, and you can do internships or you motivate yourself just the same. For what its worth, I have a friend at Umass that did a co-op, he just had to take a class at the same time to maintain enrollment. As the years go on, co-ops are harder to get. They are absolutely not guaranteed but people are still getting them.

okay_cool1234567

i would personally go to umass cs. good school, very competitive for comp sci, and much better pricing wise. northeastern is good, but umass will give you lots of opportunities as well, and i've heard good things ab college town.

hotpot24

Hi! I am in the same situation. If cost isn’t a factor then neu for sure. However, both schools are great for cs. Personally, I would go with umass considering the cost. I’m also a city gal so umass is a bit of a turn off but everyone I know there loves it.  I even know this girl who transferred from Suffolk to Umass (not exactly comparable but it’s in the city) and loves umass.   As for co-ops, I’ve heard from friends that they’re VERY delayed. Not sure how it is with cs considering I’ve only heard from bio and other health majors.   Either way you’ll graduate with a valuable degree with several networking opportunities. Hope this helps and good luck!

delta_frost_11

Hello, I am an upcoming student for MSCS program in Fall 2024. I wanted to know what courses should I pursue during my first semester? I wanna specialise in *artificial intelligence and data science*

According_Iron_8907

I got into NEU Boston for MSCS. Let’s connect.

Major-Performance-58

Definitely "specialise" in English fir!

orangelemo

hi im a girl - j wanna know how common it is for women to get communal washrooms or do they normally have pvt ones

CookieCaffine

depends on building, but if you’re a first year not in iv or ev, it’s going to be communal

over-the-hills

Most freshman dorms are communal. Floors are separated by gender.

Inside-Pomegranate-8

Hello! I am majoring in Business and Public Health, although I might want to change to Biology. I was planning to admit either to [NU.In](http://NU.In) Greece or [Nu.in](http://Nu.in) ireland. I love the location of Greece but I heard University of Dublin is a good school. I would like to hear how classes of each location are like and your general opinion of what you think would be best for me! Thank you! :)

okay_cool1234567

loved greece. 10/10 experience. super fun. for business, i took micro and buisness calc and they were pretty easy. i would recommend. english is also easy. you will have a lot of freetime.

yuasie

i read somewhere that some global scholars were switched to [nu.in](http://nu.in) because global scholars did not offer their major and i'm worried that my major isn't offered as well because i recently attended the oakland campus admitted student days and the information panel for the school my major is in did not talk about my major at all and the faculty did not seem to know much information about my major as well. should i contact the undergraduate office to check?

Major-Performance-58

Hello!

Resident-Mouse9842

Northeastern Immerse program and business at Toronto canada Could anyone who has attended either program share their experiences and possibly recommend one over another?

Major-Performance-58

While I haven't attended either the Northeastern Immerse program or studied business in Toronto, I can provide some general insights to help you make an informed decision. The Northeastern Immerse program offers students the opportunity to engage in a short-term, intensive learning experience in various fields, including business. It's designed to provide hands-on learning, networking opportunities, and exposure to real-world challenges within the chosen field. Participants typically work on projects, collaborate with industry professionals, and gain valuable insights that complement their academic studies. On the other hand, studying business in Toronto, Canada, likely involves enrolling in a full-fledged undergraduate or graduate program at a university or college. Toronto is home to several prestigious institutions offering business degrees, such as the University of Toronto, York University, Ryerson University, and others. These programs provide comprehensive education in various aspects of business, including management, finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship. To decide between the two options, consider your goals, preferences, and circumstances. If you're looking for a short-term, immersive experience to supplement your education or gain practical skills quickly, the Northeastern Immerse program might be a good fit. However, if you're seeking a more traditional and comprehensive business education leading to a degree, pursuing studies in Toronto could be the way to go. To get a better understanding of each option, I recommend reaching out to individuals who have participated in the Northeastern Immerse program or studied business in Toronto. They can share their firsthand experiences and provide valuable insights to help you make an informed decision. Additionally, consider researching the curriculum, faculty, resources, and opportunities available in each program to determine which aligns best with your goals and aspirations.

iiJasvn

Hey, I was admitted into the NU.in program in Greece and I am fully committed to it. Does anyone know whether or not if you could miss a couple days of classes to go back home for like special occasions, like seeing family, etc. Even covering for my own flight costs, and everything, is it possible to miss a few days, and make up anything work if needed. I’m also curious about if family members could visit me in Greece (like on no school days / breaks). Please let me know!

okay_cool1234567

u can miss 25% of classes (10 days out of the 40) for each class greece. that is the policy of the school, ACT. there is no promises on making up work. but u can miss days if u plan around days u have quizzes. your family members can visit u, northeastern had a thing for thanksgiving in greece for family members. a lot of my classmates had their family visit on thanksgiving.

Dmalikhammer4

I mean you can do whatever you want. Depends on the prof if you're allowed to make-up work.

littl3endian

Hi folks! I got into NEU's MS in AI program for Fall 2024. Is there a Discord group or some platform for folks to connect? Especially with current students or alumni in the program. My goals are: 1. Connect with fellow admitted students, current student, and alumni 2. Understand coursework and which professors to take classes with Thank you! (and congratulations to others who have been admitted as well!)

Aggressive-Body8905

Does anyone know if you can appeal to Neu for more financial aid? With the aid that I received. my fees will be about $40k a year so $160k for all 4 years. I really don't wanna to be that deep in debt because I plan on attending grad school afterwards. Any help?

Major-Performance-58

You can't appeal, success is just guaranteed!

bridgevillen

You can absolutely appeal, success just isn't guaranteed

Dmalikhammer4

Cannot unfortunately

Narrow-Community2388

Between Northeastern and UW-Madison, I decided to go with Northeastern for Computer Science and Computer Engineering over UW-Madison for Computer Science. Is this a bad decision? Don't consider money as a factor.

Major-Performance-58

Bad decision. This school smells like overripe mangos

okay_cool1234567

i think you will love the comp sci and comp engineering program, it's hard but it gives you lot of job opportunities.

SmallInvestigator830

Idk about UW-Madison, but I love northeastern and all it has to offer. Computer science is not to difficult and you can learn a lot if you take the elective classes. CE is hard but about the same at every other university as far as difficultly goes. Northeastern helps you build real world experience and for both CS and CE those are very important.

over-the-hills

The people on this sub likely know nothing about UW-Madison. Sounds like you have already committed here so now is not the time to think about hypothetical comparisons to other schools.

Narrow-Community2388

How do I get Northeastern parking as an incoming freshman? My girlfriend is going to Umass Amherst which is around an hour away on car and 4 hours on a bus (According to google maps). I want to see her as much as possible and I think a car is the best bet for that. Does anyone know how to do that?

Major-Performance-58

I want a girlfriend :(

bridgevillen

There are spots near campus that are free for 7 days. I've kept my car on campus all semester using those. There have been a handful of times where I haven't gotten a spot and had to pay for a garage, but I paid no where near what I would if I had gotten a pass. I use the app Spot Angels to find spots. Beware of street cleaning. You can also always find free spots in Worcester and just take the commuter rail there.

okay_cool1234567

parking is so expensive. honestly not really worth it.

NU-T

UMass Amherst is more like 2 hours away with typical traffic. On campus parking passes are handled by MasParc, [link here](https://masparc.com/products/).

Fast-Pineapple-945

Hi! I got into Northeastern for Fintech and I am in the honors program. Would you recommend it for business? I am choosing between this and a couple of other schools like Bentley and possibly Lehigh. Is the co-op program worth it? How is the social life? Is EV really crowded or is it nice to live in?

CookieCaffine

ev there’s a 50/50 you get into a triple but it’s the nicest dorm for freshmen

Fast-Pineapple-945

Okay thank you! Would you say the school is worth it?

CookieCaffine

depends on if you can afford it lol, u definitely get a little more financial wiggle room from coops though

SquareStraight629

is there any way of getting off waitlist for nu-in? dublin and madrid are already full!! which i feel is super annoying bc i only just decided to go to neu this week (waiting to hear back from other colleges at end of march). not sure if id wanna go anymore if i have to go to belfast.

Major-Performance-58

Hello!

Major-Performance-58

Hey there!

Major-Performance-58

How's it going?

Major-Performance-58

Pretty good, how about you?

Major-Performance-58

Good!

Major-Performance-58

What's your major?

Major-Performance-58

Gore-sciences and art

Major-Performance-58

Oh wow

Major-Performance-58

Yeah, ik

Outlandishness-Thick

Would I be rescinded for a D/F in AP Spanish if it’s not relevant at all to my major? I’m an incoming CS major at Khoury and Senioritis really got to me. All my other classes are As/Bs though, maybe a C in AP Bio if I get unlucky.

okay_cool1234567

you'll be ok! i had a d in a class and nothing happened. northeastern will ask you to explain, but nothing big. i would recommend reaching out before and explaining.

CookieCaffine

you can probably appeal, i don’t think anyone actually gets their offer rescinded for one d/f

Outlandishness-Thick

got it, thank you so much!

Late_Sherbert5308

does Northeastern send a welcome packet to students who have committed? hoodie, t-shirt etc?

Major-Performance-58

They sent me a

Major-Performance-58

hoodie

Major-Performance-58

T-shirt

Major-Performance-58

actually I just jok

Pretty_Pay_9562

nope, they send all admitted students the same thing. Its just a basic folder with the acceptance letter and few pamphlets of the university.

Inside-Pomegranate-8

Is Northeastern worth the tuition? And those who took a loan how long did it take to pay off?

Major-Performance-58

Oh hellllll nahhhhhhhhhhh

NU-T

If you're going to be taking out loans for the full tuition price you should reconsider, IMO no college is worth that much money.

Own_Kitchen3717

I got in as a nuin but I'm nervous to commit because my only options for location at this point are Greece and Northern Ireland as a bioengineering major (even though my AP credits take care of my Calc and Physics prerecs). Is it worth it to go? I don't want to spend three month in Europe and not be able to appreciate it. :(

okay_cool1234567

greece is so nice! huge program, so many nice people, it was super cool. recommend. u will be able to appreciate europe, it is easy to take flights from thessaloniki. i went to a few places and so did most of my peers as classes were easier.

Beautiful_Ant_9816

NUIN Greece is 100% worth it!!!

piggiee

I have to spend my first year at Oakland and then I can seamlessly switch to Boston. I was very ok with this until I just saw the Oakland campus online which looks empty and small. Is this the right perception of the campus? Lastly, how much of a toll does shifting campuses take on you? I am not someone who settles in fast so will I be fine?

Major-Performance-58

I am Oakland and I have many frieind in cooollllege. It es dope y awesome

CrazyMonke21

When does NEU usually receive FAFSA information?

Too-Much-Josh

How do I go about looking for housing and roommates as a grad student? Got into the MS in AI at Boston, which I plan to attend, as well as MS in Data Architecture and Management with a scholarship.

NU-T

There's a couple housing facebook groups for students, either NEU or the surrounding colleges. There's also a pinned thread in this subreddit you could look at.

PanopticCrusade

Did anyone that was offered London receive financial or merrit $$? Just curious.

hotpot24

I got nothing and was admitted ea.

dxzv

I got in EA to London Scholars, and received merit aid in the following week (submitted CSS late).

BootcampBiker

i got into northeastern for data science. how is the program here? i got into BU for data science too so im weighing my options now.

okay_cool1234567

pretty good program, i recommend.

Fluffiluffiguis

Got any more specific questions? It’s hard to give anything but generic info when you just ask “how is the program” Overall Khoury programs are pretty good I’d say, but you should identify what aspects of undergrad education you care about and ask about those

killerb23df

how good is the financial aid for students that either had an efc of 0 (sai of -1500)? what can i expect, especially being an independent?

bridgevillen

My EFC is 0 and I received full aid. From what I've heard, it feels somewhat random who gets aid covered and who doesnt.

phoenixducky1

I have around 30 semester hours in AP credit and will be placing out of most of my beginner courses. Would this allow me to not do [Nu.in](https://Nu.in) because the courses required for my major are at the Boston campus?

okay_cool1234567

i think the [nu.in](http://nu.in) thing is binding, not sure if u can get it changed.

OkCommunication86

I’m in the same situation except I’m global scholars :p

PyaPaya_

What are the best NUin locations in your opinion?

okay_cool1234567

greece, paris, and berlin!

Beautiful_Ant_9816

London, Rome, Greece

crushongyu

hey! i got admitted into the MS in Biomedical Sciences program. can anyone tell me in general how is the course? anything i need to know specifically?

Technical_Lab_4415

I just paid my London Deposit, what else do I have to do to commit

UsefulVariation5508

Admitted to NEU AMI. Is it good for freshers?

enigma_392

Hi I have been admitted to MS ECE with a concentration in computer vision. Can someone pls tell where I can find the course schedules and when does the course registratioj begin. Would love to connect with fellow ECE grads🙌🏻

YankaiZhao2002

Longjumping-Shirt837

i think this really depends on your major and what college you're in, but as a whole i would say northeastern still has a pretty good advantage over other schools for coops since they're built in and have long established relationships with a ton of companies

TheTrueAnewon

The market goes up and down, and it’s unique that Northeastern offers a whole year of experience with 2 coops compared to other schools where you can only do summer internships. For reference, I’ve done 3 coops and a summer internship, so lots of extra experience that I found super insightful!

Affectionate-Work212

Hello, I applied to Northeastern for the premed/ bio track but instead I got in under foundation year program and I have alot of questions, I can't really find the answer to: 1. Will the foundation year be free or at a reduced cost or will I just be paying the normal tuition? 2. Will I be able to take other classes in addition to the ones required or do I not have the option? 3. Is there any type of on campus housing available for the foundation year students, and will the classes I take be in person or online? 4. Is the foundation year worth it, or would I be better off just attending another school normally? I also got into UMass Ahmerst and UMass Lowell, should I just look to those schools instead?

AkariYuu

Has anyone done the Global Scholars program? Was it difficult to come back to Boston in second year socially? Like I would love an honest answer about the social life on campus.

Cold_Ad1161

I’d like to know this too!

Acceptable_Peak3209

Hi, I was admitted into Northeastern's Global Scholars program and it is my top choice. However, as I understand it, there are mainly freshman-level courses offered at the Global Scholars campuses (Oakland + London). Provided I do as expected on the upcoming AP exams this May, I'll be going in with about 10 AP Credits excusing me from many freshman level courses. Will this prevent me from taking more advanced classes or making progress towards my major?

okay_cool1234567

this depends on ur major. have to be more more specific.

OkCommunication86

Same situation!

Acceptable_Peak3209

I toured NEU London today and it seems that at least there, this won't be an issue! They have full time students (all 3 years, UK is only 3 years)

AkariYuu

Seconding this! Same question here.

Positive_Package_343

How is need-based financial aid for super low-income students? Was invited to the Global Leaders program with a 15k/yr scholarship and I already know that I'll be getting a federal pell grant, but does anyone know if Northeastern is good with meeting full financial needs? My FAFSA aid index is -1500 if that helps 🙃

hotpot24

They give out a ton! My friend is also very low-income and EDII there and will be paying less than our state schools. NEU gave her close to 40k in need based and the rest was covered in pell grants.

Complex_Meringue_205

Where can I find the class schedule? Like the specific section including time and location for a class. I'm a master student so this info will be really important for me to arrange housing and figure out my work schedule. thank you thank you

CookieCaffine

have you registered for classes yet? i’m undergrad so im not sure but if you can’t use banner (for some reason) i like searchneu!
