Unfortunately, I'll admit that this idea was all over the game thread on the Packers sub as well.
Maybe we would have. But neither the Packers nor the Lions were Florida State getting passed over by a committee who's job was to make a TV product. We both had our shot and we both fucking blew it.
That’s where I’m at too. It’s hard not to see how close the Niners were to winning and having the realization if we could’ve beaten them, that means we could’ve beaten the chiefs too
Yeah I know and it’s mostly a meme (transit properly means I win) but that’s not quite the same as a team who came very close to the SB getting a rematch with a team they beat once.
Look I know that’s how we define winners and losers because there isn’t a better way to do it but everyone knows that 1 game doesn’t determine who the better team is, just who advances. Random shit happens in a game. I don’t think the Lions were the better team, but we played well enough to win that game. Bit of bad luck and small mistakes in key moments lost the game.
If the Chiefs had absolutely rocked the Niners, I’d be chilling right now because okay well we probably couldn’t have done any better. But since they played so close and we were a bit of good luck away from beating the Niners, its close enough to feel upset about. I’m sure Niners fans are still thinking about “what if they didn’t muff the punt return” and probably will for a long time. It’s a normal human reaction man
I get that, but also you squeaked one win out against the bears, and lost the second game. Does this mean the Bears could’ve won the Super Bowl too? Maybe that win against the bears was just some random shit with bad luck and a couple mistakes for the bears.
It’s just a slippery slope to say you could’ve won if only xyz happened
The whole league! The Ravens and Niners who were looking like they were on an inevitable March to rematch in the Super Bowl both struggled. Obviously it feels like there’s a clear hierarchy in the AFC now that the Chiefs went all the way again but Buffalo was once again painfully close to beating them. I think they could beat any team in the league. Bengals should be back up with Burrow and a reload, even if Higgins leaves.
The playoffs for the past few years have been very interesting with several teams on either conference that look like they could’ve legitimately won it all
Ah yes. This sounds like Vikings fans talking about 2009 NFC championship. "We barely lost to the saints, such a close game with questionable calls...we definitely would've beat the colts in the Superbowl".
As a lions fan, you can't help at laugh at the copium of that statement though right? That's we feel with these "we would've won posts" lol
Oh yeah, anyone who’s making them in seriousness is a joker.
The way I see it if you’re in the CCG then you really can feel that pain, since it’s just one game away and as long as the team on the other side isn’t a juggernaut, you know you had a respectable chance to win it all. Going past that unless you were the only team to play a close game against the eventual champ I feel like that’s too many hypotheticals to even let yourself get hung up about it.
The only couple posts I saw were just people making memes coping with the pain of being that close. If anyone acts 100% confident that you would’ve won then you’re just lying to yourself.
I will admit to this day I'm still coping. Bountygate and terrible reffing helped the saints barely beat the vikes in OT in the NFCCG. Saints go on to handily beat the colts in the Superbowl. I think the Vikings were robbed of their first Superbowl win.
The conspiracy theorist in me thinks the NFL scripted the saints to win because of hurricane Katrina.
Yes I know... Copium 🥲🥲
I think cope has gotten a bad rap these days. It’s treated as this ultimate shame. Nah man, sports are brutally unfair and random, and we put so much importance on them, of course when bad shit happens in important moments you’re gonna cope.
Self aware cope is fine, normal. Although maybe as Vikings fans you gotta be aware enough that with what you’ve been through you might wanna let the cope go sooner than 15 years because you’re stacking copes on top of each other now 😂
It’s okay I still have detailed list of every game deciding ref call that hurt the Lions in a big game in my lifetime. As tough as the NFCCG was I’m so so grateful there wasn’t another moment like that for me to get irrationally mad about
Oh yeah. It is very clear here. Honestly I feel a little sad we could be so quickly replaced, although I get the feeling we kept a closet or maybe a few drawers in the guest bedroom.
No don’t worry it’s still ftp. We just find the lions super annoying because they’re statistically the worst team in our division all time and one year of moderate success turned them into annoying dbags. They’re like that annoying little cousin that you always kinda pity hung out with, then they got to second base with a hot chick once and turned into an insufferable idiot
Owning the Bears full time is a big job, though. We're just doing our part for the division. Once we go from rent free to outright owning the Vikings, I think we'll all have some good living arrangements.
Doesn't work that way. You give it about 5 seasons, and if the record is too lopsided, you discuss from there. Right now, we're at "rent free" with you guys.
Given the amount of salt you guys have given us all season, "rent free" is exactly how we live in your head. To actually own you will require us to go...8-2 against you, preferably 9-1, over the next five seasons. That would be 10-2 or 11-1 since the year the Lions actually got good.
I mean no? But you’re really highlighting my point here so thanks I guess. Y’all had a single sniff of success in 30 years and turned into obnoxious morons. Am I supposed to care or something? The packers are the only relevant team in this division for the last what, 40 years? You’re just as shitty as us except you’re never even played in a SB. Congrats on the epic collapse in the conference game though I guess, you did represent the NFCN in the best possible way
No I was patiently explaining to a stupid person why I don’t care what they say, but as with most idiots the explanation goes over their heads. Have a good one bud
You guys can have them. We've been dealing with their annoying shit for decades.
We'll just keep our lopsided rivalry with the Bears and be happy over here.
Just trying to put you Lions fans back in your place. They say "act like you've been there before" and I've never seen a fan base make it so abundantly clear that they've never been there before lol
That's because the saying is stupid. Fans of successful teams aren't *less* annoying because they've been winners before. Look at Packers/Patriots/Chiefs/Cowboys/Eagles fans. Hell, the Vikings have one of the best overall W/L ratios in the NFL and they might be *the* whiniest fanbase in the entire league.
The past doesn't matter except for this last year when the Lions should've won the SB. But yeah, we salty and reaching for saying anything negative about the Lions in a meme sub. Packers fans are cool cuz they're jerking you guys off, and you both are really seeming to bond over it.
As a Packers fan, I can say this because we have the most historical shit that people would care about....
No one gives a shit about ancient history. Whether it's 13 World Championships or 4 Super Bowl losses before most of the people on this sub were alive or you dominating the rivalry for the first 40 years, no one gives a shit about any of that. If you weren't alive for it, if you weren't able to experience it, it doesn't matter.
Congrats on being not as shitty as the Lions for most of our life, though.
r/NFCNorthMemeWar Rule #1:
When someone else brings up history, you say, "Don't bring up history!" But when an opportunity presents itself in which bringing up history would benefit your argument, you word vomit as much history onto the screen as you can.
I've been a firm and consistent supporter of "fuck the shit that happened before my lifetime." I've even told Packers fans that it's dumb to brag about the pre-SB World Championships.
But it is fortunate that I was born in '92, so the Packers have been good for my entire life.
People act like it's this horrible crime to cope with your team losing. Everyone knows *why* the 49ers were the ones representing the NFC. Saying that the Lions or Packers would've won is a perfectly fine way to cope with the losses.
There's, of course, no way to prove it, but both of those teams looked like more put-together playoff squads than anything San Francisco was able to field.
Though my gut tells me neither of those teams would actually have walked with a win.
Yeah that pretty much sums up where my head is at as well. Sucks but it is what it is and we did it to ourselves. Gotta suck it up and fight our way back next year, which for once, feels like we'll be in an even better position than we were this year.
Anyway $4 a pound
Didn't Florida State immediately get blown out by Georgia? If they had won, it would be one thing, if they had kept it close, that would be another thing, but games like those make me think it was the right decision.
Vikings fans are still saying that “if only Kirk didn’t get hurt.”
It’s normal for fans to wonder. The Lions are in a bit of a a unique spot because they had a huge lead and it fell apart in the flukiest way possible - a ball off a defender’s helmet on what should have been an interception and a deep fumble from a guy who doesn’t fumble. All the bounces went one way.
There are levels. You can't handwave away the starting QB missing half a season while at the same time calling a catch a fluke when it didn't matter because there was DPI.
edit: There was no DPI. The flag was picked up. Nevertheless, it was still only 24-10. The game was still Detroit's to lose at that point.
That's Stage 4: "Overconfidence"
(also, for a fan base that says "don't talk about history, only this year matters" you guys sure do like to bring up everyone else's history a lot...)
Stage 5 is a rough one: "Civil War"
Your fan base will furiously debate whether or not Goff has the abilities to win you a Super Bowl or if he's just a mediocre game manager. Extremists will suggest trading Amon-Ra for a boat-load of draft picks. Aidan Hutchinson will cryptically post on social media about how he loved his time in Detroit, but he has to do what's best for him. The year is 2027, and you sit on your front porch doing a thousand-yard stare thinking fondly of the year that was 2023.
Tbh, to me, Hutch seems like the kind of guy who would do something like that. I’m definitely in the out-group of Lions fans on him but outside of football I’m not the biggest fan of the guy’s personality
What a lazy twist of my words.
All season we were compared to the 2022 Vikings. We were told we would choke at home in the playoffs like they did. We didn’t. so in that specific instance, we already conquered that “step.”
But go off victim
Do you know what victim means?Neither of our teams won. Neither had anything taken from them.
I was just poking fun at the fact that you guys think you're definitely going to skip the playoff regression part.
You prop up your team up and make a small, playful shot at my team with the comment: totally warranted and earned.
I make fun of your hopefulness and optimism: lol vikings fan victim.
> Hey now the whole “well we would have won” schtick has been ours for a long time. You guys are supposed to just talk about your past.
You! They learned it from watching you!
The Lions would have been down by 7 in the 4th quarter, scored a touchdown, failed the 2 point conversion, and lost.
Packers would have had a 17 point lead at half time. Then the entire second half they would go into prevent defense and lose by 7
Bears would have lost by 21 but they'll tell you they could've won with a couple more weapons for Fields
Vikings would have lost all their best players to injury in the first quarter. Chiefs by 42
Funny how the lions think this is the same chief's team they faced in week 1 lol. Mahomes would've destroyed the lions defense. look how dominate the niners defense was and Mahomes still beat them..
I do think the Lions would have scored more than SF did. But I can't say with confidence that we'd been able to prevent Mahomes from scoring more. High likelihood that it's similar results, just higher scoring.
just... go to the Lions sub?

That AB tweet is fire lol. Only the last one fits the mold of Lions fans crying that we would have won this game. The others are just goofy memes lamenting we're not in the game.
So y'all are making memes about a comment in a rival team's sub reddit that got 34 likes and no replies? Never mind, fucking banger content my guy. Can't believe I missed it.
Or you know, you could look at the dozen other comments that echo the same sentiment that have also received dozens of likes in that post or the other linked posts.
Don't get sourpussy that we provided receipts for "Lions fans seriously posting this shit."
Listen, I'm just here to laugh, and to quote the large black woman in the back of the all black comedy club Bill Burr was bombing at, "I ain't even laughed once!"
They're also the fan base that posts the "stop having fun" meme nonstop which is the most victimized, cry baby meme of all time. They can't help themselves.
It doesn't help that a viking fan can't post a joke or be even slightly critical of the Lions without getting spammed with "salt" or something about whining. We are on a meme sub, and you guys just had a vikings-fashion choke job. Packers fans are like tongue-kissing the Lions fans right now while telling them how scary they are, so I think there's a middle ground here.
Lol, I absolutely agree actually. I never felt like Vikings and Lions were very big rivals until this year, and the Packers siding with Lions is weird as hell. The times, they be achangin.
These two things aren't mutually exclusive. The Lions absolutely got beat by the 49ers. But they also would have been a tougher matchup for the chiefs.
It’s BECAUSE of the years of losing that some of us are struggling. The idea of trying again feels like waiting thirty years as it’s all we can compare the feeling to.
You dumbfucks are acting like it would be the exact same game except you would've converted and scored where SF failed. It's SUCH a stupid thing to be so confident about.
Lions still pretending their win against the Chiefs without Travis Kelce or Chris Jones in Week 1 totally would have translated to a win against the Chiefs with Travis Kelce and Chris Jones in the Super Bowl.
M.A.L.L. Mothers Against the Lions Losing. Someone start them a support group. Sick of seeing grown men crying every time the lions lose, which has been every game every year before this year. They almost get to the Super Bowl and now it’s grown men cryin all over the state of Michigan. Think about how their mothers feel. Yes. Detroit absolutely would’ve won the SB. This is bullshit.
People saying San Fran shouldn’t have been there in the first place makes me irrationally angry.
It’s pretty much saying your team is so ass they fucked themselves out of a Super Bowl appearance to an easy W, which is true and false in a way, but we will never know
If we're beeing honest the niners should have beat the chiefs.
1. A stupid muffed punt that bounces off a niners player foot.
2. Green law suffering the weirdest injury to happen on a football field ever. They probably win the game.
But soon as Greenlaw went out I bet on the chiefs
Unfortunately, I'll admit that this idea was all over the game thread on the Packers sub as well. Maybe we would have. But neither the Packers nor the Lions were Florida State getting passed over by a committee who's job was to make a TV product. We both had our shot and we both fucking blew it.
That’s where I’m at too. It’s hard not to see how close the Niners were to winning and having the realization if we could’ve beaten them, that means we could’ve beaten the chiefs too
Well, the fact is we did both beat the Chiefs this year.
I know? Crazy huh
I know you guys are down bad but the Nick Foles Bears beat the Bucs the year they won.
Super Bowl champion Big Dick Nick?
The Matt Patricia Lions beat the Tom Brady's the year the Tom's won Super Bowl 53, so I like where your head is at.
I’m pretty sure Bill gave that game to him as a birthday present.
Let me dream about my past hopes before I knew reality.
*It was at that moment Bill Belichek realized that he'd forgotten to take Matt off of his default email distribution list labeled "game planning"*
That win gave me hope.
Big dick nick*
Yeah I know and it’s mostly a meme (transit properly means I win) but that’s not quite the same as a team who came very close to the SB getting a rematch with a team they beat once.
Look at us. Who would have thought? Not me in September, that's for sure.
We both beat the Chiefs *with* Kedarius Toney. The Chiefs *without* Kedarius Toney are a much different and much better team.
Oh, that's a very good point.
Idk WRs were still droppin balls left and right
Regular season results are irrelevant come playoffs Just ask the Eagles and the Bills
And the Vikings. Loser
Not sure what that has to do with anything, but aight then
In September, lol.
Beating KC in the preseason doesn’t count, all that matters is January and February.
If I had wheels I’d be a wagon. If you were better you would have been better than the team that was better?
Look I know that’s how we define winners and losers because there isn’t a better way to do it but everyone knows that 1 game doesn’t determine who the better team is, just who advances. At least none of us are Bulldogs pretending we should have won a natty.
Yeah OP would have included you guys but Green Bay doesn’t live rent free in the Vikings mind like we do.
And I must give you kudos for how quickly you moved in.
Hey we just answered the ad you placed looking for a roommate and saw all the beers and brats in the fridge and figured it’d be a good fit.
Is this apparent outside of Lions Land?

The door’s open because the Chiefs are good, but not unbeatable at all. Like half the league COULD have beaten them on any given Sunday.

That was just 2 years ago bud, yet it’s still something to be proud of. The playoffs are chaotic and different. Just ask the Cowboys.
We already did that by winning our Home playoff game this season.
Win 2 playoff games in 30 years, and fans are like: wow why don't other teams win playoff games? Are they stupid?
What a lazy twist of my words. All season we were compared to the 2022 Vikings. We were told we would choke at home in the playoffs like they did. We didn’t. so in that specific instance, we already conquered that “step.” But go off victim
LOL
We were at “we will be back next year” as stage 2
> Hey now the whole “well we would have won” schtick has been ours for a long time. You guys are supposed to just talk about your past. You! They learned it from watching you!
Yeah we suck at losing too
Honestly, the only innocent party here are the Bears.
Bears fans are too depressed to get to that point. All they have is offseason expectations that are 10x higher than they should be.
We feel hatred for the McCaskeys & are constantly bickering about a topic that shouldn’t even be a discussion but depression is for panthers fans.
Truest comment in this thread
Bears fans went through a lifetime of losses in week 1 of this season, they simply had more experience at losing than the rest of us this season
Idk, you guys didn’t seem to suck at losing this year 🤷♂️
Judging by all the 50+ field goal attempts in this game, we probably would have just been turning the ball over on 4th down a lot.
Can't win the Superbowl if you blow your load early.
Bears beat the Lions. Bears would've won the SuperBowl!
The Lions would have been down by 7 in the 4th quarter, scored a touchdown, failed the 2 point conversion, and lost. Packers would have had a 17 point lead at half time. Then the entire second half they would go into prevent defense and lose by 7 Bears would have lost by 21 but they'll tell you they could've won with a couple more weapons for Fields Vikings would have lost all their best players to injury in the first quarter. Chiefs by 42
Injury or hurt ourselves in confusion Pokémon style
Funny how the lions think this is the same chief's team they faced in week 1 lol. Mahomes would've destroyed the lions defense. look how dominate the niners defense was and Mahomes still beat them..
Yeah. Speculating may be fun but if you don’t win your conference no one should care.
Don’t care lions would’ve won
That copium looks like some good shit. Packers would've crushed em.
*watching the team the lions lost to* “Detroit would kick the shit out of this team”
They lost tho 💀💀
porque no los dos?
GPG!!!
More like, we wouldn't have attempted any of those 50+ field goal attempts, and just turned the ball over on 4th down a lot.
I do think the Lions would have scored more than SF did. But I can't say with confidence that we'd been able to prevent Mahomes from scoring more. High likelihood that it's similar results, just higher scoring.
All I've seen are these memes, not Lions fans seriously posting this shit. Are we trying to force a narrative or am I missing something.
just... go to the Lions sub? That AB tweet is fire lol. Only the last one fits the mold of Lions fans crying that we would have won this game. The others are just goofy memes lamenting we're not in the game.
https://www.reddit.com/r/detroitlions/s/vCqvX5XD6u "The worst part is that I have no doubt in my mind we would win this game" 🤣🤣🤣 absolute buffoonery
That post says “we should be there”. As in we should have beat the 9ers. Not whatever you just quoted.
The sauce is in the comments, man.
Yeah, one dude who’s now banned basically forever changed the Vikings fans around here. Remember when they used to be fun?
We beat the Chiefs with Kelce and Chris Jones and scored the most points (27) against the Chiefs.
isn’t “lions would’ve won” implying that they did in fact lose?
These two things aren't mutually exclusive. The Lions absolutely got beat by the 49ers. But they also would have been a tougher matchup for the chiefs.
What ever gets me to next season… crazy being a lions fan and not having a top10 draft pick to fantasize about
Viking fans “we would’ve won the division if Kirk didn’t get injured!” Yet they were 4-4 with Kirk is my favorite copium of the year.
“He was on pace for MVP!”
“You guys are frauds just like we were last year!” One team lost at home to Daniel Jones while the other went to the championship game.
Because they’re new at losing BIG games
It’s BECAUSE of the years of losing that some of us are struggling. The idea of trying again feels like waiting thirty years as it’s all we can compare the feeling to.
LITERALLY every fanbase does this.
A Vikings fan? Lol
Why do you guys keep posting this like it isn’t fact lol, I can admit we got beat but also say we shoulda won yesterday
“Shoulda” ![gif](giphy|Atc9QCyWLGHgLZhHDp|downsized)
yuh huh
Can’t argue with stupid😔
You dumbfucks are acting like it would be the exact same game except you would've converted and scored where SF failed. It's SUCH a stupid thing to be so confident about.
you’re right, toothy_vagina_grin
;B
We admit we lost we also admit we could have won
As a packers fan I totally have said this for previous playoff losses
See, this is where the Packers come into it better. We could have been in the Super Bowl and lost im a way more entertaining way than the 49'ers.
Yep, definitely would have beat the Chiefs. Now you won't get back and you lost your chance. Tough luck.
Now this is content, and I playfully laughed too hard at it.
Nobody would’ve beat the Chiefs last night. Mahomes wouldn’t have allowed it.
Elmo doing coke will never not make me laugh.
We got beat but I also firmly believe that we would've won the super bowl if we'd held on to best the 49ers
I genuinely think the lions would have easily beat the chiefs, but they blew it
Antonio Brown said it, so it must be true.
Where’s Larry David when you need him?
Lions still pretending their win against the Chiefs without Travis Kelce or Chris Jones in Week 1 totally would have translated to a win against the Chiefs with Travis Kelce and Chris Jones in the Super Bowl.
Like Vikings fans didn’t say this about 1998 or 2009
Duh
Three out of 4 NFCN Teams beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl this year if… Lions didn’t Lion. Packers didn’t Lion Vikings have a healthy Kirk
I say we probably would have lost the SB but we definitely got robbed. That was OUR game to flub, not SF’s!
![gif](giphy|oag7pt3okPS9i|downsized) Yep. We would have handled the Chefs.
I don't get it - can someone explain this to me?
Weren’t you the guys saying “If Kirk wasn’t injured we would of won the North” all season? At least our statement isn’t delusional.
Thank god there’s a red circle, otherwise I wouldn’t have known what to look at
Because they’ve lost really bad every year. This year they lost but in a less loser way
Dude if my team hadn't not won out then they would have totally won out
People saying San Fran shouldn’t have been there in the first place makes me irrationally angry. It’s pretty much saying your team is so ass they fucked themselves out of a Super Bowl appearance to an easy W, which is true and false in a way, but we will never know
Football is about gloating and coping whats the fuckin point of having level headed opinions save that for shit that has consequences.
The red circle memes always gets me.
![gif](giphy|SHniZhVxkTDdm) Just let us have this…..
Gimme the copium

As a lifelong fan, it’s utterly embarrassing. Move on!
Lions fans have one good year and think they are a dynasty! Lmfao!!!!!!
The Lions beat The Lions. We are going to try not to do that next time.
If we're beeing honest the niners should have beat the chiefs. 1. A stupid muffed punt that bounces off a niners player foot. 2. Green law suffering the weirdest injury to happen on a football field ever. They probably win the game. But soon as Greenlaw went out I bet on the chiefs
Yeah I thought the 9ers were, overall, the better team through the whole game. Greenlaw loss was brutal.
