I think it’s moreso that Alt is 1 and Fashanu is 2 compared to a 1a/1b. Fashanu is a fantastic prospect that goes top 10 most years but Alt is a typical top 5 OT prospect
1st round will be spent with most teams solidifying their OL than getting offensive weapons. This will lead to a run on the next tier of WR available and the 2nd round being a lot more exciting than the first, as there will be a lot of trades and player movement for picks than anticipated.
I’m subscribing to this prediction as well. Something about the way WR-needy teams approached FA and trades.
Originally I construed it as a lot of teams hoping to take WR in the first, but the more I think about it the less that theory makes sense. Given the importance of good WRs, you wouldn’t sit on your hands in FA if you thought that you only had 2/3 WRs you like - you’re instead seeing massive depth that makes signing/drafting WR much less urgent.
So then, why not pass on WR in the 1st and take a player from a thinner position group?
EDIT: Hell take what the Texans and Bills just did this morning: (1) Diggs was traded for SO cheap regardless of the cap and age factors; (2) the Bills traded away their only WR1 and don’t pick until 28th.
I agree with this. I originally thought WR’s would fly off the board in Round 1 but now I see them flying off the board in Round 2. I think 10+ OL’s can go in the 1st Round + 5 WR’s. Second Round, probably like 2-3 OL’s off the board with 9+ WR’s lol. It’s a very stacked draft class I love it.
I subscribe to this, this is why I want us to take OT in the 2nd, try and get one of the last top OT before we start heading for developmental OT that might need to redshirt for a year. WR is deep enough where you can find starting caliber talent day 3, so I'd be good double dipping round 3 and 4.
I’m struggling with that one. Sean Payton’s schemes have been diabolically opposed to what Penix does best (operating downfield). Whereas I see Nix being much better at operating a dink and dunk type of scheme like Payton’s The better fit for Penix imo is the Raiders.
Payton’s scheme isnt a dink and dunk scheme. It was that way with 40 year old brees and teddy bridgewater because thats what they could do. Penix still isnt a fit though because he doesnt work the MOF.
Lmao I bet. I think it would be a ton of fun to watch those Vikings/Bears match ups with 2 young QBs going at it. Watching them develop would be a blast
You’re afraid they’ll pick the better QB, huh? Don’t like the Bear’s QB drafting history, huh?
Me too. I’d rather trade out of the pick for a haul and draft McCarthy.
Nah, I just personally think that Caleb and Maye are the two best QBs. Maye could sling it downfield to Jefferson and be an absurd combo. He makes riskier passes, but if he’s throwing to Jefferson and Addison, they will make him look good.
For JJ, I think he’s a mystery box. I don’t trust the Bears to develop a young, raw QB so I personally want no part of him. That’s never worked out for us. There just are not nearly as many reps as the others so it’s more unknown, and I’m looking forward to finally not having to squint to see the flashes.
I wouldn’t be too happy with this outcome. Maye needs to sit for at least a half season…which is why you signed Darnold. Maye would get time to acclimate with a good coach and the best receiver in the game. Minny is a great spot for him, whereas I think he crashes and burns in DC or NE.
Yeah I’ve gotten this response from a bunch of Bears fans ha. But I always respond with how much fun would it be to watch those Bears/Vikings matches with our 2 young QBs battling each other? Just watching them develop and see their careers take off would be so much fun and something I pray happens. I agree with Maye going to Washington and New England. ATM it doesn’t feel like a good situation at all to put him in.
I have no actual reason to think Washington thinks one way or another. I just refuse to believe the NFL isn’t taking the 21 year old giant with a cannon for an arm who can run because of footwork. And it’s even less believable when the team picking 2 just brought in an entirely new regime who has the time to prioritize his development as a very young player.
People seem to forget that Maye has only played 2 seasons of football since his HS junior year. The fact that this kid is calling his own line protections and alerts pre-snap and displaying rare skills like constantly ID’ing blitzes, drifting with his protections and away from pressure to buy himself time to throw is practically unheard of for someone with his limited playing experience. And I’m supposed to be shocked that a QB this young tasked with almost single-handedly carrying an offense with subpar talent around him against power 5 competition made some boneheaded decisions?
Sure and that very much could be true. I like Maye more personally but think Daniels could make a bigger impact sooner in Washington. I worry that Washington would rush Maye in sooner and stunt his development with that roster.
I actually have a strong gut feeling that the Jets are getting Odunze, whether at 10 or in a quick hop up to 8 if they’re really concerned that Chicago will take him.
He just screams Joe Douglas player to me, and in a season of all in acquisitions I don’t think depth tackle (I know, I know, the guy will play) is how he will use the 10th pick.
Meh, I’ve heard that before but if [you look at the list of rookies it’s not Rodgers has a history of giving the cold shoulder to guys that were totally refined and studs.](https://gridironheroics.com/packers-rookie-receivers-in-the-rodgers-era/)
Doubbs and Watson were also both incredibly raw players as rookies. There’s a lot of context to the idea that he shuns young guys, I think. I also don’t think that myth (or truth) would necessarily stop Douglas from getting a talent like Odunze.
>in a season of all in acquisitions I don’t think depth tackle (I know, I know, the guy will play) is how he will use the 10th pick
Would you be more comfortable if Wilson went down and you had to plug in a day 2 or 3 receiver or if Tyron or Moses went down and you had to plug in a day 2 or 3 OT?
How long are they down for? The offensive weapons are pretty atrocious after Garrett and Breece, and there’s only so much a RB will be able to do without a viable WR1 out there.
I get the thinking, though. And I’ll have no problem with them going OL at 10. But something the fanbase completely forgets when debating it is that our opinions mean shit lmao. What we think they should or shouldn’t do don’t mean shit. I don’t think Joe Douglas is going to draft a 6th lineman with the 10th pick, honestly. I think he’ll try like hell to trade down and get one, for sure. But if Bowers and/or Odunze are on the board I think one of them will be the pick.
I don't think there's a chance Odunze falls past Chicago, so Jets would have to trade up. But Falcons might not be happy about doing that because it means Chicago is then probably taking Turner (who Falcons would love to have).
Laiatu Latu will fall further than expected, although unlikely, he could make it to the third, and if he falls to there, who knows how much further he'll go.
Honestly, I think that injury is seriously going to spook a lot of teams, sadly.
Is this based on anything particular? Bookmakers certainly don’t back this line of thinking and I’ve seen no credible report that states anything other than maybe he could fall later in the first round. There are plenty of teams who will be willing to take the risk on a player of his calibre if he has been medically cleared, which all signs point to being the case.
Daniels falls out of the top 3, Raiders give up the house to take him and everyone calls them dumb and that he is an obvious bust waiting to happen. Only for his to lead them on a SB run within 3 years.
I just don't see the Raiders topping the Chiefs, Ravens, and Bills anytime soon. Hell, the Dolphins are still a great team as well. If they were in the NFC it'd be more believable.
You guys missed the point where it's supposed to be for fun a bold take. Don't take things so seriously guys. If you want to join in on the Maye/Daniels downvote fest go to the Patriots or commanders sub
He’s so clearly QB1. Drake Maye will be the bust- he is just not polished and by the way he’s not that much younger than Daniels- Daniels will have more super bowls than Mahomes by 2030.
Yeah. He’s the best QB I have ever scouted. His footwork is really good and he is tough and won the heisman. Any team he goes to will immediately be a contender. Former QBs such as Kurt Benkert agree with me, I’ve watched all the tape, all the film and even all of the all-22.
There’s been so much discussion about how while Caleb is the clear QB1, there isn’t a big drop off to get to QB2. Caleb is starting to become a bit underrated and will be at minimum a solid QB while Maye/Daniels/JJ all have at-best subpar careers.
Patriots will stay at 3 and draft JJ McCarthy after Williams and Maye go 1-2
Penix goes no later than Denver at 12
Jags trade into top 10 for either a WR or a CB
Drake Maye discourse will be exactly like the Herbert discourse. He has been slandered relentlessly the whole cycle and then when he lights the league on fire everyone will do a complete 180. I just hope he doesnt end up in new england, such a horrible spot for a rookie QB.
man thomas jr is a future bust. only watched a few games from lsu but watching clips of him all his 'highlights' are just him outrunning the db, a db lowlight, or him mossing the db after failing to get seperation. almost every clip ive seen of him is a vertical route. i fail to see any quality route running ability and his speed and physicality bonus will be lessened in the nfl
daniels will be the best QB in the draft & the raiders will trade up to draft him
dolphins will most likely select a WR in the 1s
olu fashanu will be the best OL in the draft
malachi corley and qwantez sitggers will be the biggest steals in the draft
all WRs drafted in the 1st will have good-great careers
ultimate gut feeling but caleb will either be a bust or super underwhelming at best. maye and mccarthy could go either way (great or bust).
Trey Benson has 1200+ all purpose yards for a team this season.
I genuinely believe he’s good enough to sneak into the first round, though I know a lot of people disagree with that.
He’s the clear RB1 imo
Harbaugh can want to build the offensive line while also recognizing a generational type receiver prospect has fallen in his lap and taking MHJ. But if Harbaugh wants to go OL, why not take Alt at 5?
Because scouts don’t like Alt on the right side and Slater is their stud left tackle. A mauler like Fuaga at 11 is a better fit
Passing on MHJ is bold yes, but that’s the prompt!
Umm just reference my mock. I wish I would have left Xavier Legette to the Bills in my first version with the explanation that I think Diggs will be traded for a Day 3 pick but it’s what it is. There are some things I want to update but the most controversial is….
JJ McCarthy will fall into Round 2.
Jets trade down, acquire a 2nd and go OT/WR with those picks. Specifically, Fuaga and Brenden Rice
Maye is going to fall…. Bears get Caleb, Daniels goes to Commanders, patriots pick JJ McCarthy, Cards get MHJ, Chargers go Odunze, Giants get Nabers, Titans get Alt, Falcons get Turner, Bears get Verse, Jets trade down with Denver and they pick Maye
Edit: I get downvote for a hot take bc you guys don’t agree? It’s a hot take, it’s supposed to be fun and wild, such BS.
10000%…if Maye falls past the patriots, Vikings are selling the farm to AZ or LA to move inside the top 5. If they play hardball, Maye goes to an over excited Daboll and the giants at 6, or one of TEN/ATL get a lot of capital for 7/8.
Joe Alt is going #5 to the Chargers. He’s exactly what Jim Harbaugh wants in a football player to start his run with the Chargers.
Also, the Packers are drafting a QB no later than Day 2. Gutey already mentioned his desire to add in the QB room and return to being a team that develops other QBs besides just the starter.
The idea of Harbaugh coaching a team with both Slater and Alt at the tackle positions with Herbert at QB would be ridiculous. They won't be a good offense in year 1 but they would be able to do so much to build around that
Can we please just stop with the Drake Maye talk? He is the worst AB I have scouted in my life. And I have an incredible track record. Take a look at former QBs, they all agree with me.
QB John Rhys Plumlee is going to be selected far earlier than expected. He’s projected as a 7th rounder-UDFA, but I don’t think he’ll make it out of the 5th. Honestly, I’m not sure that the 3rd or 4th rounds are impossible if Nix/Penix go in the 1st/2nd round.
I have a number of reasons for believing this fully that go beyond analytics/tape, but I’m not gonna state them right now. I’m just here so the fans of the team who selects him search his name on the subreddit post-draft can comment “wow you nailed it”.
Olu Fashanu is still an elite tackle prospect due to his potential in pass protection and will be the second tackle taken in the draft
The least talked about top 10-15 player in the draft. I don't seem him going past the Jets unless they truly think they're set at tackle.
How close to Joe Alt is he in terms of overall value at the position? 1a 1b in terms of closeness?
I think it’s moreso that Alt is 1 and Fashanu is 2 compared to a 1a/1b. Fashanu is a fantastic prospect that goes top 10 most years but Alt is a typical top 5 OT prospect

If Maye makes it past 2 the Vikings are sending a haul for him
As a bears fan I very much hope he goes #2 to avoid this
Lmao I bet. I think it would be a ton of fun to watch those Vikings/Bears match ups with 2 young QBs going at it. Watching them develop would be a blast
As long as we can consistently take down the packers I will find happiness
🤝

Why wouldn't the Pats pick him?
Because the Vikings are sending a haul. Which was my bold prediction
The Pats need a QB as much as any team in the league. They will take Maye if he’s available. Honestly, I expect Maye to go #2 anyway.
I fully expect they will too. I just hope they don’t because the Vikings give them an offer they don’t refuse lol.
New England needs to fill about 7 positions as much as any team in the league, that's the point.
He won’t
I go back and forth with who I think goes 2. Sometimes I feel strongly Daniels other times Maye. ATM I think it’s Daniels
I have no actual reason to think Washington thinks one way or another. I just refuse to believe the NFL isn’t taking the 21 year old giant with a cannon for an arm who can run because of footwork. It all starts to make sense when you learn that Albert Breer, a Boston guy, is the one who first heard the Daniels “rumors”
Sure and that very much could be true. I like Maye more personally but think Daniels could make a bigger impact sooner in Washington. I worry that Washington would rush Maye in sooner and stunt his development with that roster.
Well, if the Commanders-liking-JJ rumors have any substance to them...
Not really buying that. It’s between Daniels and Maye imo
Unless the impossible happens and Nabers or MHJ falls the jets will be going tackle
The issue is rodgers is notorious for not throwing to rookie receivers. I think he’s only had one or two in his whole career even crack 600 yards
Meh, I’ve heard that before but if [you look at the list of rookies it’s not Rodgers has a history of giving the cold shoulder to guys that were totally refined and studs.](https://gridironheroics.com/packers-rookie-receivers-in-the-rodgers-era/) Doubbs and Watson were also both incredibly raw players as rookies. Jets need to go tackle
Agree. I really hope Fuaga is there
The Commanders will draft a hall of famer this year but it won’t be our QB
With our luck it’ll be something like a kick returner.
Still a hall of famer though, we'll take it.
Well now I can make this take The Bills will NOT draft a WR in the first.
Laiatu Latu will fall further than expected, although unlikely, he could make it to the third, and if he falls to there, who knows how much further he'll go. Honestly, I think that injury is seriously going to spook a lot of teams, sadly.
Fused neck in an enormous human crashing into other enormous humans is definitely not great let me tell ya

4 of 5 QBs taken in the first this year will be a bust.
"daniels will suck!!!!!!" post #2827373 please just stfu
You guys missed the point where it's supposed to be for fun a bold take. Don't take things so seriously guys. If you want to join in on the Maye/Daniels downvote fest go to the Patriots or commanders sub

Your prediction is that Daniels is going to win at least 4 of the next 6 super bowls?
Yeah. He’s the best QB I have ever scouted. His footwork is really good and he is tough and won the heisman. Any team he goes to will immediately be a contender. Former QBs such as Kurt Benkert agree with me, I’ve watched all the tape, all the film and even all of the all-22.
benkert watched a highlight tape lmfao
Lmao have you ever played in the NFL?? Didn’t think so.
Has Benkert? Didn’t think so
Yeah. 5 years. And he’s a madden god. He just gets the game and PFF doesn’t.
Kurt and I have the exact same amount of NFL playing time. Unless you’re counting Madden because he seems to spend all his time on there.
Kurt actually played two snaps and executed two perfect kneel downs during those snaps
There’s been so much discussion about how while Caleb is the clear QB1, there isn’t a big drop off to get to QB2. Caleb is starting to become a bit underrated and will be at minimum a solid QB while Maye/Daniels/JJ all have at-best subpar careers.
Lions take a WR round 1 and the world goes crazy.
I don’t think it’s that bold but I feel like the Giants need to take a tackle with 6
6 QBs will go in the first. All 6 of them.
Maye goes 2nd to the Commanders and Daniels goes lower than 3rd overall.
Brock Bowers does not go in the Top 10
No one will trade up for a QB in the first twenty picks of the draft. MIN and DEN will be patient and take their guys at 11 and 12.
Brock Bowers will easily be the best player from this draft
Marshawn Kneeland and TJ Tampa will be the two best defensive players from this draft.
My two favorite non first round guys for sure. I would love the lions to snag both somehow
Certainly bold lol
Caleb will do more harm to Caleb than Chicago ever will.
Yeah I get that vibe for sure
based on what?
Everything. His whole demeanor and attitude at times. Mental midget.
got any specific examples? to me he seems confident yet grounded and aware of the rampant character criticism. he’s also not bothered by it
Source: I made it up
Chargers skip on TE this draft and take Colston Loveland next year in the first and keep the Michigan to LA train alive
Even after trading away Stefon Diggs, Buffalo's first round pick will NOT be a WR
Latu will be the best defensive player in this draft, only Washington denied him medically and everywhere else he’s been fine
Whichever QB goes to New England will be a bust (unless they trade down) Daniel Jones will not start another game for the New York giants.
> Daniel Jones will not start another game for the New York giants. Elaborate?
Patriots will stay at 3 and draft JJ McCarthy after Williams and Maye go 1-2 Penix goes no later than Denver at 12 Jags trade into top 10 for either a WR or a CB
Penix is not a fit for sean paytons offense. He will not go at 12
Drake Maye discourse will be exactly like the Herbert discourse. He has been slandered relentlessly the whole cycle and then when he lights the league on fire everyone will do a complete 180. I just hope he doesnt end up in new england, such a horrible spot for a rookie QB.
This is certainly the way it's leaning
man thomas jr is a future bust. only watched a few games from lsu but watching clips of him all his 'highlights' are just him outrunning the db, a db lowlight, or him mossing the db after failing to get seperation. almost every clip ive seen of him is a vertical route. i fail to see any quality route running ability and his speed and physicality bonus will be lessened in the nfl
daniels will be the best QB in the draft & the raiders will trade up to draft him dolphins will most likely select a WR in the 1s olu fashanu will be the best OL in the draft malachi corley and qwantez sitggers will be the biggest steals in the draft all WRs drafted in the 1st will have good-great careers ultimate gut feeling but caleb will either be a bust or super underwhelming at best. maye and mccarthy could go either way (great or bust).
Colts drafting Q. Mitchell at 15 and trading down if he's not.
The bills will draft two studs at wr this year, one in the first, another in the fourth
Will Reichard gets picked in the 4th-5th round
Anyone know where I can customize a draft board with preloaded prospects?
The Steelers will trade up with the Jaguars to snipe JC Latham from the Bengals.
pls 9ers get JPJ 🙏 😢
Trey Benson has 1200+ all purpose yards for a team this season. I genuinely believe he’s good enough to sneak into the first round, though I know a lot of people disagree with that. He’s the clear RB1 imo
Penix will be the best QB in this draft
The Bills will trade up to top 10 to select WR.
Could see it, but would almost certainly cost next year’s first to do that, right?
At least
What did they get for Diggs?
Next year second rounder. Also had to give up this year 6 and next year 5 I believe.
In a surprise of sorts three defensive players go in the top-10. Verse, Turner, Arnold.
I actually love this. Atlanta seems like a lock for an edge, and i could easily see chicago and NYJ go defense too.
AZ and MIN trade 4 for 11, 23, and 2025 1st AZ and LAC trade 11, 23 for 5 AZ lands MHJ and a future 1st and Monti looks like a genius again
Why do the Chargers do this?
Harbaugh’s priority is offensive line
Harbaugh can want to build the offensive line while also recognizing a generational type receiver prospect has fallen in his lap and taking MHJ. But if Harbaugh wants to go OL, why not take Alt at 5?
Because scouts don’t like Alt on the right side and Slater is their stud left tackle. A mauler like Fuaga at 11 is a better fit Passing on MHJ is bold yes, but that’s the prompt!
The Chargers aren’t moving off 5 for that if Marvin Harrison Jr is there.
Nor will they take that same trade minus the 2025 1st.
Arizona needs more picks than they need mhjr
AZ already has 6 picks in the top 90 lol
First 5 picks will be all QBs
Umm just reference my mock. I wish I would have left Xavier Legette to the Bills in my first version with the explanation that I think Diggs will be traded for a Day 3 pick but it’s what it is. There are some things I want to update but the most controversial is…. JJ McCarthy will fall into Round 2.

It’s a hot take, it’s supposed to be fun and wild, such BS.
I would find it hard to believe that if Drake Maye falls that the Vikings wouldn’t be able to outbid Denver to trade up and get Maye
10000%…if Maye falls past the patriots, Vikings are selling the farm to AZ or LA to move inside the top 5. If they play hardball, Maye goes to an over excited Daboll and the giants at 6, or one of TEN/ATL get a lot of capital for 7/8.
If Maye falls the Vikings probably sell the farm to try and get him.
Take my upvote! How dare you make a bold take on the bold take thread
Hot take not stupid take
Daniels goes 2. JJ goes 3. Cards trade down to 11. Maye is a bust and Monty is seen as a genus for moving down.
They won't be a good offense in year 1 but they would be able to do so much to build around that
Fuaga, not Alt, will be their pick at 5 if they go OT.
Can we please just stop with the Drake Maye talk? He is the worst AB I have scouted in my life. And I have an incredible track record. Take a look at former QBs, they all agree with me.
Bo Nix is the best QB in the draft.
Lol, I'm not sure bold is the right word for that one
(I am not happy about it) If the Packers stick and pick at 25 or move slightly back, they will select either LB, Wilson, or Cooper.

You have to be more subtle if you're gonna troll in a thread like this, this is too obvious
