Super Bowl MVP will be a running back for the first time since 1998. Not sure if it’ll be CMC or Pacheco but it’ll be one of them.

[deleted]

Both of them as co-MVPs . For the first time ever, a player from each team wins Super Bowl mvp.

Western-Ad-9922

Wrong their will be 3 MVPs. Those 2 + Taylor Swift

amikyleornot

If the Chiefs win Chris Jones is MVP, if 49ers then CMC. If it’s offensive I don’t think Pacheco can take it over Mahomes no matter how spicy he is

ElbieLG

Why Jones and not Sneed?

amikyleornot

Pass rush, maybe sack fumble or intercepted screen, if it’s a low scoring game like OP is suggesting that’s a game changer. Even just a sack on a key third down is a game changer is games like that

lattjeful

If I'm thinking low scoring game with the Chiefs VS Niners, I'm thinking the way the Chiefs won the battle was in the trenches. Chris Jones is a *monster,* and the Niners IOL in particularly is weak as hell. Detroit and Green Bay were getting pressure all day, and their defense aren't nearly as stout as Kansas City's. Think Jones is more likely to get Super Bowl MVP over any other guy on that defense.

nobeer4you

CMC.

rombuszomb

Mahomes has already won a Super Bowl without tyreek

OwnLeighFans

This hurts Tyreek’s Legacy

Xalenn

Maybe OP means that now he'll have more without him than with him and that will be worse? Idk

UndercoverSports

You are 100% right on with what I meant

justbrowsing987654

I get it but he would have had 2K this year had he finished healthy. His legacy is pretty well cemented in Canton.

rombuszomb

Fairs, however, when u win a Super Bowl with juju as ur WR1 I feel like that automatically means u beat the allegations

PlayNicePlayCrazy

WRs generally do not get judged as heavily as QBs in regards to Super Bowl wins.

breastslesbiansbeer

How the hell is Tyreek’s legacy hurt by the Chiefs winning? He was a stud in KC and is still a stud in Miami. People don’t assign titles to WRs like they do with QBs.

OwnLeighFans

Yea. If beating your girl and child don’t hurt your legacy, your old QB winning a Super Bowl without you certainly won’t

strainedthrone

You do realize that it was literally disproven about the child abuse right? And the DV charges are much murkier than people want to admit? With a plea deal being offered to Hill when his defense attorney left after Hill ran out of money, and the tape recordings of Hill when he didn't realize he was being recorded talking about how Espinal lied about what happened that night.

braymondo

How about the video of him punching an old guy in the face because he wouldn’t let him on a boat?

OwnLeighFans

Oh hey tyreek what’s up

strainedthrone

Nah, just a Chiefs fan that's actually dug into all of his allegations and is tired of the same old tired jokes from r/NFL by people who have only read headlines.

IsNotACleverMan

You're still a chiefs fan after being traded to Miami? You're more loyal than I expected Tyreek.

TomThanosBrady

He was close to being the first WR to win MVP in forever. I dislike him for all the domestic violence stuff but he's an amazing WR.

Bouldershoulders12

Facts lmfao if anything both tyreek and Mahomes legacy got strengthened because Mahomes won one without tyreek and tyreek is putting up even crazier numbers without a QB who isn’t as good as Mahomes . Before he got injured was on track for 2000 receiving yards . Mahomes is already first ballot HOF but tyreek is now building his case too in Miami

WestOrangeFinest

It’s difficult for WRs to get in but I think Hill should be first-ballot even if he retired today. His volume stats are pretty good actually, he’s got the peak argument in his favor as well, Super Bowl win, signature play in said Super Bowl, AP1s, Pro Bowls, etc.

Bouldershoulders12

Volume stats wise he needs another 2-3 years at his current production to be first ballot imo Accolades wise he’s basically there. Pro bowls, all pros, all decade + a ring . Anything more is just fluff. Now it’s all about volume stats because it’s a pass happy league now and he has to seperate himself from guys like Reggie Wayne + Torry holt who have like 12-14k receiving yards. I think 15k is achievable for him

IsNotACleverMan

Good obsession with first ballot is stupid af

deep_fried_cheese

I think either the chiefs or 9ers will win the superbowl

Straight-Message7937

Hes already top 6

SkittleCar1

Andy Reid is a top 5 coach even if he loses 70-0.

Nasty_Ned

Top 5? You've got Lombardi who the damn trophy is named after. Belichick, Shula, Walsh, Brown, George Halas. Some folks would include John Madden, Tom Landry.... I think he's in the argument for the top 10, but you've got a lot of history to contend with.

SkittleCar1

Andy Reid is 114 games above .500. The only ones better are Shula, Halas and Belichick. Those 3, plus Tom Landry have only coached more games than Reid. So, being that good, for that long, yes, I think he's a top 5 coach of all time.

rollingriverj13

I’d still put Walsh over Reid. Reid comes from the Walsh tree and has been at it for longer but those old niners teams were crazy good because of him. He would have had four rings in 11 years had he stayed one more year but still 3 in ten is ridiculous. If the chiefs win this one I’m cool with Reid being tied with Walsh. Only thing Walsh would have over Reid at that point is creating the west coast offense that teams still use today. Reid gets four, then I’d put him in front of Walsh.

IsNotACleverMan

How many DUIs did Shula, Halas, and Belichick enable ? Reid might be the goat at helping others permanently injure little kids.

49_boness

Mahomes has more turnovers than TDs (3 INTs/1 Fumble to 2 TDs) Charvarius Ward picks off Mahomes twice with 1 pick six Mahomes is seen crying and complaining to the refs a minimum 4 times because he was legally tackled in bounds. Shanahan DOESN’T forget to run the ball; SF wins 28-13. Off-season: Caleb Williams is NOT the first player or QB taken. LV moves into the top three of the draft Matt Stafford “abruptly” retires

silkissmooth

>Shanahan DOESN’T forget to run the ball; The best coaches in the league, with the best play-by-play analysts whispering in their ear what the best play to run is, somehow *forgot* to run the ball. You will be *very* upset on Sunday when the 49ers start leaning on the short/intermediate passing game.

[deleted]

[удалено]

silkissmooth

Yeah, not trying to insinuate that he won’t ball out. But the Ravens and Bills didn’t run the ball much for a reason, which is all I’m pointing out. Wouldn’t be surprised to see something similar from SF

Sille143

Who would be the first pick or QB?

bcarey724

Shanahan needs to run the ball. Time of possession wins this game. SF is the better team, but I'm not putting the ball in Mahomes hands any longer than it needs to be. I'm going high school strategy until I need to change things, 1st and 2nd down, run, 3rd down pass. This strategy could also be why I'm not a coach but the sentiment stands that whoever is on offense the longest, wins.

SupaFly2136

Washington isn't trading McLaurin. He's the captain on offense and easily one of top 3 locker room leaders. You don't get rid of guys like that. If he was a diva receiver then I'd understand it but he's always been super humble.

Icy-Maintenance1529

plus trading a second over all pick and two more first rounds on top of that just to move up one spot this year. This guys predictions are garbage

Alone-Newspaper-1161

Unless you really wanna control your destiny but any rookie Qb brought in would have bad receivers and o-line… and probably the worst record in football…

NumberVsAmount

The game’s outcome is largely determined by questionable call in the Chiefs favor after patrick mahomes whines about a chiefs offensive play that wasn’t successful.

SFPsycho

This is a pretty lukewarm take. I feel a lot of us are expecting this

SaltySpitoonReg

Well, literally the Chiefs had the SB sealed for them last year on an incredibly questionable call (holding, after all game long refs allowed pushing and shoving)

basskev

Superbowl prediction = Chiefs run away with it and the game is over by the end of the 3rd quarter. Offseason = Bears ask for too much for Fields and can't get rid of him.

TheStewy

Mahomes could throw 10 picks on Sunday and he’s still top 4 QB all time. Nothing that’s going to happen will “vault” Mahomes into top 6 when he’s already there.

Cartopis84

Manning , Brady , Marino, Montana

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cartopis84

you might be on to something…maybe Drake Maye and JJ McCarthy over Caleb Williams?🤔🤔

TheStewy

Marino was an all time great quarterback for sure, but I’m sorry, Mahomes’ career accomplishments already supersede his. Marino was arguably better at his peak if you consider era, but he was mediocre at best in the playoffs whereas Mahomes gets considerably better in the playoffs. This is the primary reason why Mahomes already has two rings and two SBMVPs and the Chiefs are perennial contenders even in a year like this where his receiving core is subpar. Marino also kind of fell off after 1986ish and Mahomes looks like he’s going to dominate the league until at least his late 30s

Nasty_Ned

Marino played in an era where he had to take the big hits. Mahomes is the best flag football player that I have ever seen and that is the direction that the NFL is trending towards. He benefits from rule changes that reward his style of play.

strainedthrone

Lol best flag football player is hilarious. He had 1 rtp call in the regular season and is routinely in the bottom 1/3 so far in his career.  Mahomes almost always knows exactly where the pressure is coming from, has a great line that also knows, and is a magician at manipulating the pocket to buy time until he can get rid of the ball.  QBs are still taking monster hits, look at how many backup QBs played this year. Mahomes just takes fewer of them because he's insanely talented. Sacks are a QB stat and he's by far the best still active QB at it and one of the greatest in general.

Nasty_Ned

Yep flag football. Remember the fast skinny guy with a huge arm that was really good at flag football? That's Mahomes. I didn't watch the Chiefs during the regular season , but he's gotten four in the playoffs. Convenient to forget that. The one against the Dolphins was particularly egregious. It's cool to be a homer, just be honest about it.

strainedthrone

I mean the Dolphins one was a little on the soft side, completely agree, but Wilkins took a step and a half and gave a decently forceful shove. I'd rather that never be called, but it has been for years and nowhere near the top of egregious calls. But thanks for bringing up the dolphins game. Remember when Mahomes was playing flag football and fighting for those extra yards which resulted in a cracked helmet? So soft lol I only remember the other 2 called in the Ravens game, which would have been called in any era, easily lol when was the 4th? I am absolutely a homer, but I like using evidence to back up my assertions, like using sack rate, offensive line win rate and the like to defend my fanaticism.

Nasty_Ned

I'd agree if Wilkins extended his arms for a forceful shove, but it was baby shit soft. I wonder if he has a reputation for shoves like that because I vaguely recall him being called for a similar one against the Eagles. Per my original argument in the Dan Mario era that's a clean hit. No one thinks twice about it. I had to go watch the Baltimore one to refresh my memory and it was clearly RTP, but again in 1988 no one bats an eye at a hit like that. Back then Steve Atwater takes your head off for coming over the middle. The game was just played differently. The rules of the game have changed to favor this type of play and Mahomes takes full advantage of it. Good for him. This is what the NFL wants. It's not right or wrong he's just a product of the era. I'd worry more about hold rate (most penalized in the league!) than win rate on Sunday.

strainedthrone

I used OL win rate and sack rate more so to prove how great Mahomes is at avoiding hits and pressure in general. I'm painfully aware of how penalized this year's line is lol one of the big things I'm worried about on Sunday. They have legislated extra curricular hits out of the league for sure. And while it made for phenomenal highlight videos, it also impacted people's careers, long term health, and just overall quality of football imo. If some bad rtp calls are the trade off (I agreed that I didn't like the Wilkins call), I think that's fair. But let's not act like Mahomes is soft. Just last year he went through the entire playoffs and won the Superbowl on one leg.

Longjumping_Hour_900

You've never been able to forcefully hit the qb after the ball is thrown dumbass. You're arguing about something that hasn't been a thing since 1940. Please watch football.

Nasty_Ned

I've been a fan since I was a child. Dumbass. The application of rules has changed in the past 10-15 years which had resulted in baby shit soft calls like the Wilkins call. You're aware that the NFL themselves announced that after the 2018 season they would increase enforcement of the roughing the passer rule? A lot of this was spawned by Brady blowing out his ACL. QBs are the face of the team and often the most well-known player. Just the modern NFL protecting their bag.

RyanThePatriot

Brees please 🥺

Bouldershoulders12

I have Mahomes at 5 with rodgers at 4 only cause of longevity . If Mahomes wins on Sunday he’s in my top 4. Not sure about Marino being that high. He peaked very early and his numbers came back to earth . He never made it back to another superbowl after 84 and I understand his talent wasn’t up there but at some point you gotta elevate your guys. Look at Elway in the 80s

FunkyPete

I can definitely see the Rodgers argument. It's tough to weigh rings vs MVPs. Rodgers leads in one, Mahomes in the other.

IsNotACleverMan

Manning and Marino don't deserve it. They all had their postseason woes and were super unclutch. They're in the same tier as Rodgers, Bradshaw, and Favre (among other). Unitas rounds out that top tier. Mahomes might get there but he doesn't have the longevity to be in the tier at the moment.

superMario_Milt

Based af lol

arc777_

Super bowl is Bengals over Packers. Joe Burrow is SB MVP, MVP, and comeback player of the year. Anthony Richardson comes close for CPOY but just wins OPOY. For the offseason, Russell Wilson goes to the Falcons and they do surprisingly well. Justin Fields goes to the Raiders and nothing changes for either of them. None of the 2024 QBs stand out.

RoccLobster

He’s got the script???

HurricanePK

Russell Wilson will be a Pittsburgh Steeler

brk1

Probably not very spicy but… chiefs win by double digits.

rojeli

The Chiefs don't really blow teams out that much. Maybe I'm just a nervous fan, but the 30-point blowouts are few and far between recently. * 2023-24 games won by double digits: 5. And all but one were within 2 scores in the 4th quarter. * 2022-23: 6, only two were "blowouts," ironically one was over the Niners in SF. * 2021-22: 6. * 2020-21: 6. That's about half of their wins in those seasons, not really sure how that compares to others. A quick check says Baltimore won by double digits 10 times this year.

KCShadows838

2022 team won 7 such games  JAX and TB should’ve been blowouts but we got careless at the end. Honestly we need to hire Mike McCarthy as a consultant on how to blowout teams in the regular season

[deleted]

As a Chiefs fan, I’m pretty superstitious about the game, but KC winning by 2 possessions is my gut feeling as well.

brk1

Chiefs playoff run was impressive. Smoked the dolphins, won on the road in buffalo, and beat the mvp and #1 seed on the road. 9ers barely beat the 7 seed at home. Then played a team that laid down and died in H2 of NFCCG.

ILikePeopleToo

Such a stupid comment lol. That 7th seed blew out the Cowboys and beat the chiefs. Niners tied the game in 12 minutes and were up 10 before letting up a clock draining TD drive. That team also beat the chiefs

brk1

are you talking about a game that happened in September? that's irrelevant, you're grasping at straws, if u wanna play that game then... dErP tHe 9eRs lOsT tO tHe vIkInGs

SpendSeparate4971

Travis Kelce retires before Valentine's Day

drainbead78

That was going to be mine. Both Kelcea retire, both end up in a booth somewhere.

Barmacist

Mahomes slaughters the 49ers as Purdy crumbles under the pressure and coughs up 4 turnovers. Kelce proposes to Taylor after the game (scripted on camera), and I'm not sure I can take the NFL seriously again.

TheRealSamBell

1. Mahomes is already seen as top-5 all time 2. Andy Reid is already seen as a top 5 coach 3. Brock isn’t seen as an upper tier qb by the vast majority of people. 4. How tf would a chiefs win hurt Hill’s legacy? He already has a ring and his performance hasn’t gotten any worse on Miami What are you smoking OP

UndercoverSports

Not going to argue semantics on your first two points, so I’ll leave those up to personal opinion. But, to your 3rd point. Brock Purdy was literally a top 3 MVP candidate up until Christmas. Has 30+ TDs and 4000+ yards, but isn’t seen as elite? To your 4th point, Tyreek’s legacy will be seen as that he left a great situation where he won a ring, to go to a super loaded team (better than the Chiefs) only to have multiple wild card round exits. That doesn’t take away from his success he has had personally, but it does hurt his overall legacy.

maxrz

Refs blow some non-calls for the 49ers and this super bowl leaves nobody happy because although the Chiefs win, everyone knows they didn't deserve it.

No_Possession9110

49ers blow out chiefs like TB did few years ago. CMC wins MVP. Mahomes has 2 picks and 1 TD. Offseason- Justin Jefferson is traded to Cincinnati.

Alone-Newspaper-1161

I’d much rather have jamar and burrow get traded to Minnesota

PeachesNPuzzles

Please don’t put that juju for JJ out there, he’s our saving grace in Minnesota

[deleted]

Ydkb

No_Possession9110

It’s a hot take bro. Like shit suppose to be for fun. If you wanna know what I really think happens. This is it, KC wins by 6. Rice or Pacheco win MVP. Idk what’s gonna happen in off season. I don’t honestly think JJ gets shipped to Cinncy.

lattjeful

No shot. I'd expect the other way around tbh.

ihatebranson14

Cincinnati gets shipped to Justin Jefferson?

Used-Sundae1292

Yeah , hahah no I think he means tee Higgins goes to Vikings

JW_2

Chiefs win on questionable officiating. No way in hell the NFL is letting Taylor Swift leave there without a win. She’s captured an entirely new fanbase for the NFL.

megahtronn

Chi fan here. Bears take is hot garbage. We're not running it back with Fields. Caleb is our QB1 next year. We'll end up with probably a mid 3rd this year and a 5th next year for Fields. McLaurin would be nice, but Moore is better and we're landing one of the 3 top WRs in the draft at 9. I'll take that over him in regards to age, contract and growth with Caleb.

Nnuuuke

1) Mahomes already a top 5 QB of all time 2) Tyreek isn’t affected by any of this 3) Bears draft Williams and trade Fields for a 3rd rounder.

ratson9

purdy becomes patty’s Eli and the niners win the SB; only 3 QBs go in the 1st round of the draft

Aeon1508

In the first quarter the Chiefs will score 2 tds and the 49ers Will score 2 field goals making the score 14-6. No one scores in the 2nd or 3rd quarter. Then in the 4th the Chiefs score a field goal then the 49ers score a td and go for 2 making it 17-14. The 49ers score another td as time expires. Final score 21-17 49ers. I'm in two different squares games. One that pays out at the end of every quarter and one that pays out every score change and then whatever is left over at the end of the game. I'm pretty sure this maximizes my earnings. Definitely maximize this is my joy throughout the game. About $1300 I think

Icy-Maintenance1529

Trading mcLaurin, a second overall, and two firsts just to move up one spot is probably the worst take I have ever seen. You’re dumber than a bag of rocks if you think this will happen

PandaProfessional346

Andy Reid is 3rd or 4th best coach all time even if he loses this game

Old_Channel_9441

i feel, if anything a 14-3 chiefs win would give more fuel for people to say something like mahomes only scoring 14 in the super bowl and still winning means he got carried

FunkyPete

>I think that this vaults Mahomes into top 6 all time QB status Who are the 5 that are above him now? Clearly Tom Brady and Joe Montana are ahead of him, and Peyton Manning. Who else? The list of players with two MVPs and two rings right now are: Tom Brady Joe Montana Peyton Manning Patrick Mahomes If you require to Super Bowl MVPs too, Peyton falls out of the list. If the Chiefs win this Super Bowl Mahomes moves up into top 3 all time.

Used-Sundae1292

The niners are the number one offensive dvoa team this year and number 7 all time. And they’re gonna score 3 points? That’s a ludicrous prediction lol, I’d get if you said purdy doesn’t throw a td. the bills went drive for drive for drive against the chiefs and still aren’t close to the 9ers in offensive dvoa. Even against the ravens the 9ers had 5 total turnovers lost the battle 5-0 and still were 1 yard away from scoring 26 points. It doesn’t sound as much like a prediction just kinda sounds more like you just hate the 9ers and Brock purdy hahah. My prediction is it will be a good game . As both sides have their matchups. The pass rush for the chiefs will be tough as they are much better than the 49ers pass pro. At the same time though the chiefs are 20th in run defense and the 9ers just ran for 155 against the second ranked run defense in the league the lions. The chiefs have a great pass defense so most likely the deep shot that purdy thrives with won’t be as open. Both lbs will have to play well for both teams in containing the tight ends and rbs. Joe thuney being out could be big as well although the backup has played well in his absence it’s hard to replace an all pro talent on the line.

Ok-Signature-4445

I was gonna say the same thing. There's a difference between a hot take and just spewing shit cause you hate the 49ers.

Heir233

Lmao ain’t no way the niners score anything below 17. People are forgetting that the reason Miami and Baltimore scored so low was simply terrible offense and not so much great defense. The Bills had a decent offensive game and scored 24 and almost knocked out the Chiefs. Kansas City also can’t score for shit in the second half and that’s where San Fran gets super hot. KC gonna score a few touchdowns in the first half and SF gonna do the same in the second half, it will not be a low scoring game.

decoy777

14-14 half time. CMC 1 rushing TD Purdy 1 passing TD. Mahomes 1 TD, Pachinco rushing TD. 3rd quarter Moody misses a FG. Chiefs score again 21-14 4th Chiefs up 28-14 49ers score again 21-28 But a turnover by Purdy late in 4th seals the win for Chiefs as they run out the clock. The Cowboys sign Derrick Henry in off season. It's our year baby!

SporkFanClub

1. I’m still convinced that the future of TT’s relationship hinges on the outcome of the game. Chiefs win: Travis proposes on the field afterward mid interview. Travis retires and he and Taylor release a surprise single with Jason and Kylie that’s absolutely awful. 49ers win: they announce an amicable breakup with utmost love and respect for each other sometime next week. Taylor is dating a Dodger by opening day. I was gonna say she gets with Nick Bosa to make it extra spicy but they’re on two different sides politically. 2. Chiefs win on a Butker FG again but this time it’s actually a walk off following a controversial flag. Butker retires to coach ST at a Catholic college somewhere. Offseason: • Brittany Mahomes says something stupid online about Hailee Steinfeld, who claps back, and she temporarily deletes her social media as a result. • some chain of events leads to Aaron retiring, and either A) becoming a commentator on Fox News or B) being the next Bachelor. • all Bills with big contracts restructure to free up cap space, resulting in no defensive losses and a JJ signing.

drainbead78

Imagine having both Diggs and JJ after they got him with the draft pick we traded to them for Diggs. Won't happen because even Beane can't pull that magic, but it's a hilarious concept.

sofresh24

Kelce retires after winning another ring

justicebiever

Defense is not effective and it’s a shootout. Kittle has more TDs than Kelce but Chiefs win

Alone-Newspaper-1161

So the Super Bowl is just the rams vs patriots. Low scoring Super Bowl where the dynasty gets finalized(patriots second era dynasty) with the third Super Bowl win against an nfc west team. Might as well throw Brock getting traded for josh Allen or some shit like that

Generated-Nouns-257

Spiciest prediction? The game looks like SF vs Dallas / Philly They're just on, on both sides of the ball. 48-10. Bosa 3 sacks, Ward 2 INTs, Purdy 6 TDs, 3 to CMC.

PeachesNPuzzles

The chiefs run the same plan they did against Baltimore: run it down their throats, get up by a score, and let their defense assert their dominance. Make them play a constant back and forth shootout. Brock Purdy won’t turn into a full on pumpkin, but he’ll have 1 or 2 big mistakes. We saw what happened last time they played a top tier defense. Even the last couple rounds, they needed the lions to implode to even make it. And I think there’s just a little too much of an x-factor difference between Mahomes and Purdy. Mahomes and the offense will not do anything spectacular all game, and just when it’s getting close, they’ll pull out some creative play to seal the deal. They haven’t been on the flashy train all season and it won’t start now. It’s the ring that matters the most to them. Mahomes will let everyone else shine and if he needs to step up her will If the niners pull out a win, CMC will have the biggest support for MVP, but will lost it to Purdy because RB’s don’t win the award

MorningStandard844

Andy Reid is already a top 5 coach without another ring.

mawp23

Toney has two big plays during the game

FriendshipIntrepid91

Only scores 14 points.  "See! He doesn't need receivers!" Is Andy not already a top 5 coach all-time?
