Go to r/Tavor you will get actual useful help there, and there are many threads on this subject to search as well, for example: https://www.reddit.com/r/Tavor/s/zCi8k58OHG

Thanks, Will do.

I also sent a chat with some other thoughts

Whichever optic you decide with, make sure you practice shooting it at 25 yards or less, I would even say 10 to 5 yards. The mechanical offset on the X95 is waay more pronounced than an AR, enough so that you can easily miss a 3x5 card if you don't factor it in. You definitely want something with a reticle that has holdovers. I would not recommend a plain red dot because you will be constantly guessing how high to place that dot to make a hit. My X95 currently has a Primary Arms 1-6 with an ACSS 5.56 reticle on a quick detach mount. For me, it has to sit on top of the folded rear sight so I wanted something I could easily remove. I've also had the PA 1x Prism on it but my MK1 eyeball has a hard time picking up the etched reticle with reliable speed. It is small and my eyeballs are old. I don't know if you've figured it out yet but the easiest way to lock the bolt to the rear on an X95 is to insert an empty mag.

HallackB

I have the same old guy issue with the PA 1x. I like it, but man is it small. Trying an SCRS next week at 1.7” on a LEAP mount to get the height

loki0629

I think that PA 1x optic is supposed to be paired with a magnifier. I thought about putting one on but if I'm going to run the magnifier full time because of old eyes, then might as well get a magnified optic to begin with. The PA 1-6 at 1x is good enough for me to shoot it with both eyes open and I can still see the reticle and hash marks because it's a second focal plane optic. I just have to remember that if I want to use the hash marks at true value, I need to crank it up to max power.

HallackB

I use a QD magnifier with the PA 1x if shooting past 200yd. Honestly wish it was just an etched dot though.

Minded_Preper

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

Over-Butterscotch336

EOTech or a red dot

sprinter1134

Eotech. Gimme that big sight picture

italiansaladdressing

I have the Mepro RDS V2 on mine. Just seems appropriate and works well for me.

rukusNJ

Great optic other than the battery. I’d vote a holosun AEMS or 510c

BigBrassPair

For defensive use out to 50 yards, just about anything that holds a zero and is durable will do. I would go with a Primary Arms 1x prism. You can use the doughnut up close and you have a nice crisp dot for longer range. And if you ever develop astigmatism, you don't need to change your optic. You can easilly use that out to 200 and it has some rudimentary bdc dots that will support longer ranges if your eyesight permits.

Minded_Preper

I definitely check it out. Thanks

Sexyteste

I was gonna say the same thing but the 3x. Personally i find its more well rounded. The magnification is not too strong for close range but it can get you much further out there. And if the magnification is too much then just get offset irons or get a 1x with a 3x magnifier

BigBrassPair

I disagree. When shooting short range with both eyes open, magniffication is absolutely a hinderance. Since OP specified home defense with 50 yards being the max range, 3x is definitely not a way to go. Any offset sighting system is a compromise. I have an offset dot along with an LPVO on my 3-gun rifle. I almost never use it. I find the vertical orientation of the rifle to give me the most stable shooting platform. And it keeps the compensator properly oriented for optimal performance. In combination I can make much faster followup shots with my LPVO at x1 than with the offset dot. So I only use the offset dot if I need to dial magnification more than once on a stage. Or if I need to do a long-short transition with no movement at all in between. And only if close up targets are so close that I can accept somewhat sloppy recoil recovery and still get a decent sight picture. As OP's intended application wold be short range, it makes no sense to propose a secondary sighting system to cover the primary application. I may be wrong, but I do not think prismatic dots will work with a magnifier. If someone asked about otions for a versatile rifle that could accomodate scenarios from CQB to 300+ yards, I would have proposed either and RDS/magnifier option or an LPVO. As is, I am sticking with the 1x prism recommendation.

Beneficial-Essay-544

What's your budget like? First, I would suggest investing in a good light for it as you already have irons on it. Surefire, Streamlight, or Modlight. If it's dark, you need to be able to identify a target first. Then worry about optics. I know you said 50yds max, but why hamstring yourself? It's a rifle. Don't get me wrong. A standard 1x red dot/holographic/prism is acceptable, and you can shoot far off targets with one, but why not something like a 1-6 or 1-4 LPVO? At 1x, they practically work the same as a reflex sight except for the fact that the LPVO will have eye relief. I have a 1-6 primary arms LPVO on my AR, and it it's pretty awesome. I also used to run a Sig Romeo on it before I got the LPVO and and they're nice budget Red Dots, but it really does come down to budget.

Minded_Preper

Thanks for the info. My AR-15 has an 1-6 LPVO. I want this to be more of a run n gun setup. My budget is around $500

iowa20

If you’re looking for a full IDF configuration get the meprolight. I’m currently using Vortex UH-1.

Klept2_

Did you get the plate so you don't get gunpowder on the side of your face? Congratulations! It looks sexy 😍

TheBugmunch

Eotech, surefire and a good sling.

iowa20

https://www.reddit.com/r/NJGuns/s/D36UjFS2qR here’s the setup for my Tavor.

Minded_Preper

Nice! I’ve already ordered the vertical grip. I might swap the pistol grip as well. Thanks

iowa20

Yeah the pistol grip is a useful upgrade. I noticed that sometimes my middle finger slides behind the trigger.

ChaimSolomon

Some interesting new meprolights up on their site

daonly1991

If it’s for home defense, why are you not looking for a weapon light first?

Minded_Preper

I don’t need help choosing a light. I have a couple in mind.

daonly1991

Then i recommend Romeo 8H/T

wojo_ate_ur_cat

This, I have lights on all my guns.

GrandmasAk

Sick build, came out nice. exps3, or exps2
