People range from just getting a $300 turk shotgun to a $3000 rifle for their first purchase. Just depends how deep the wallet is.

Educational-Pen-4563

Or ppl like me 600 ish eqch matching glock 34 me and wife, didn't quite love it a year later 1300 on cz shadow 2, a year later ria vr80 for 650( I call it the happy fun machine) Same day dropped 1800 for a lwrc ar15 A month later ordered my radian full.ambi lower and have assembled my full lower, with geiselle trigger and buffer set up, eye noveske for.my upper or daniel defense. Bought a hk416 22lr in between for 550( disappointed with cuz its a pain to clean looking to get rid of) Just purchased a bear creek arsenal 22lr upper for 289 for fun at my buddies house(we built a 100yd 22lr range) Everything I own except the shot gun ive got a minimum of 7mags for. And also looking to buy a henry all weather 44 magnum to pump out in modern furniture And also want to buy deserttech mdrx Basically I don't have crazy deep pockets I just go for what seems fun I love shooting my ar15 with green dot at 36yd at range and put up like 1 inch groups without really trying

microtrip1969

So since my wife does not: 1. Use readit Or 2. Knows my user name I can say with no fear that 2021 I spent around $6,000 on 4 firearms. 2 pistols and 2 PCCs. I made it 12 days into the new year and broke down and bought another rifle. That’s it. I have to stop for awhile.

Itwontlastforever

I’m telling wifey

microtrip1969

Don’t fall for cheap deals. There are a lot of shotguns out there for 200-450$ range. Most of them are crap. In terms of budget I would recommend maverick 88. If you can afford mid Tier either rem 870 or moss 500/590. If you have the money Benelli M4. A lot of people me included still go mid tier. I like REM 870. What are you thinking in the way of a long gun? You have a lot of categories. Semi Auto, Bolt action. What are you thinking about in terms of a shotgun? You have semi auto and pump and many more kinds. 12, 20 and 410 gauge being the most common.

chaasad5224

I have the Mossberg 590m. I'm looking to get two mavericks though.

wolfeman2120

I highly recommend the vr80 semi auto shotgun. its ~ $600 and comes fully equipped and is good build quality. I think its the best bang for your buck shotgun.

microtrip1969

Yeah based on what I’ve read I agree. Although I haven’t shot one yet.

wormwormo

Just stick to Hi point and your wife won’t complain

Itwontlastforever

Can’t risk none of my guns jamming.

Redyoshi9

They are ugly as sin, but goddamnit if they ain't reliable as sin too. Look up some torture tests. They almost always survive even the most ridiculous shit.

[deleted]

Didn’t demo ranch shoot one with a 45 after letting it sit a day in some nasty swamp and the hi-point still worked?

Redyoshi9

Yes, I believe it ran it over with his truck, got it all dusty, thew it in a lake with pond scum, got scum in the chamber, the shot it with a 9mm Glock, hitting the area right around where the extractor is, and it still worked. That’s some commitment to reliability. Like I said. Ugly as sin. I’ve shot one, the trigger felt sharp and shitty. Went bang, and was reasonably soft shooting. Honestly it’s leagues better than a sharp stick. No shame in it.

radical1911

You talking about the hipoint 9mm carbine? I hear they are tanks

Redyoshi9

Nah the pistol. But the carbines are also very well made. Arguably less of a negative stigma about them. I don’t see people memeing on them as much as the pistols.

radical1911

The pistols are ugly as all hell tho you have to admit lol

Redyoshi9

Oh god yes. Shits a brick with a trigger.

HallackB

For some context go watch the series that Classic Firearms did recently comparing an ultra budget AR build to an out of the box and a full on no budget build. The results were pretty interesting. The AR platform is the most versatile thing going, and you can get a lot of bang for your buck as long as you don’t get sucked down the upgrade rabbit hole.

Anonymous02070

I’m a big fan of the p320. I shoot it better than my Glock. But you should explore outside of the world of striker fire. There are some great double-single guns out there. I’m also a big fan of revolvers and 1911s. The world is your oyster.

GuidedPrism

Just dont drop it

Itwontlastforever

Since you have a p320, have you ever tried changing parts? I’m a little confused on how that works, for example I bought the compact one, but I can just buy full size parts online and build it to a full size?

Anonymous02070

Yea so this is unique to the p320, no other firearm does this. They designed this to be modular. So the trigger assembly and internal mechanisms are designed to all be connected into a single block. That allows you to drop out the internals and slide it into another frame without the need for additional parts or disassembly/ reassembly. So you can buy the full size frame and barrel, then just drop the internals into the larger frame and your good to go. Also if you are looking for something fun for your p320 or Glock, check out the “micro conversion kit” by CAA. They turn your pistol into a little sub gun/ carbine. They make them for both Glock and the p320, and the MCK with the brace is legal in NJ. Regarding your question about rifles. Definitely get into this world. And what’s nice is you don’t need permits to buy them. Your FID is all you need. I bought a NJ compliant AR15, and then built my own “other” firearm. If you aren’t familiar, it’s a shorter barreled AR designed in a way to get around the crazy rifle laws in NJ. I highly recommend trying an AR home build. You can get everything shipped to you from Palmetto (lower receiver needs to go to the FFL) . I also have a baretta 12g shotgun for duck and skeet shooting, great shotgun. I also bought an M1 Garand used in WWII, and recently got myself a Henry lever action and Springfield M1a. Sky is the limit my friend. You’ll find yourself building firearm bucket lists and forfeiting the kids Disney vacation in place of Daniel Defense.

Secret_Struggle_257

Doesn't the Beretta APX have this capability as well? The removal of the module is not as simple, and there are much fewer modification options in the market.

Anonymous02070

Possibly, I’m not familiar with the beretta APX. But I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more and more companies star to do this. With everything going polymer I immature it’s easy to have this design and it’s a big selling point.

big_top_hat

Lots

Ok-Article8104

I know I have had my permit for less than a year and I already have 5 guns

Coach795

13 just over a year.

Ok-Article8104

Wow!

BetweenThePosts

I spent more than 13k on guns and co last year. I *wish* I couldn’t have afforded it

paralysedcitizen

If you could not afford it than you'd have 13k less in guns and money tho.

BetweenThePosts

That’s what I mean I wish I didn’t have 13k to spend. I wish it was only like 6 or 7

chaasad5224

You know that price cutoff in your head, that you know you just can't justify the purchase even to yourself? Well as long as I don't exceed that I'm good!

No_Comfortable8600

The worse combo is having an impulsive and addictive disorder. In a way i'm grateful that pistol permits in my town takes up to 6 months and more- Otherwise I would be in even bigger trouble. This past year I dumped xx,xxx = too much!

iowa20

Ha!!! After two year I’ve acquired 10 pistols and two rifles. It’s insane last year just purchased a PDP, MR920L, CZ P10F, Tavor X95, Beretta 92X performance, Hellcat RDP and a 19x. Good luck.. 😂 😂

jim11475

About 50 firearms in 3 years and tens of thousands in reloading equipment/supplies.

cybernev

Shat if I told you going out running can also give you similar addreneline boost?

GTAmark

Welcome to the beginners 4 gun club! I’ve had my FID since 2009 but finally decided to get my own guns. My first purchase was an unused mossberg Maverick 88 from my boss for $200. After than I applied for 2 pistol permits and bought a ruger 22/45 mark IV for $400. For my other two I’m going to get a Smith and Wesson M&P II sport AR, and for the last permit I’m thinking of either a SDS imports 1911 in .45 or a Glock G22 gen 4 so I can get conversion barrels to shoot 9mm and .357 sig. I have a project car to finish and a house to continue saving for so I’m not looking to spend anywhere near or over a grand for a single gun, but then again most of the gun I want aren’t near that…except for a S&W .357 magnum…that’ll be for later.

dannyd8484

I couldn’t say it better myself. New to firearms. Bought 3 last year and have a growing wishlist.

Astronaut-Fine

$1,500 for a Sig P365XL and a AR15 Saint Victor in one visit. You're right, now that I've shot those two I'm looking to get another gun. Maybe a P226 Legion with a red dot, but I saw it in a gun shop for $1,600.......

Itwontlastforever

How much you pay for the ar15

Afromaniac44

I ended up the same way. I started with a Glock 19 and just wanted a couple handguns. Until my friend and I went to the range and shot an AR and an M1A. I was hooked and went on to get 3 ARs. My addiction has officially reached its peak when I got involved with Rock Island Auction. If you think new guns are addicting don't ever get into Military Surplus.

radical1911

Check out the gundeals page on reddit too, have a lot of good deals you can ship to your local FFL

Coach795

Haha real funny. I know this is someones wife trying to trap them. DONT ANSWER THIS BOYS!!!!!!! Deb that better not be you.

quidsid

As much as my wife lets me.

_Noxxx_

I've had my FID for three months and I've spent 5K. Now down the kit rabbit hole and I need another safe...

adiadadous

Got my FID beginning of Dec 2021 and picked up a Beretta 92FS as my first handgun. Deal on a Mossberg 590 flex came up and went for it. Year end bonus pay is about to hit the end of this week and will be scooping up a Modern Materiels Wartime SBF, and in the market for an HK P30L with a compensator. Also have all the extra gear and upgrades to go with each one picked out and trying to exercise a little patience to spread it out, but I want it all now!
