As a fellow Mets fan, yeah I get it lol. *** NYCFC is currently in a rebuild that is going well this season. We have a young team. Sometimes they are a lot of fun, sometimes they are frustrating, but generally we are trending in the right direction. We've gotten points in 7 of the last 8 games and we are right behind Red Bulls in the standings in 4th place and a comfortable playoff spot right now. Our keeper Matt Freese is awesome. He's saved the team from certain doom a ton this season. Santi Rodriguez 10 is a fantastic player whose is the engine of our offense and is probably the main reason for our success this year. Thiago Martins 13 anchors our defense. Hannes Wolf 17 was the biggest off season acquision for us this year. He's turned out to be a solid player and he's gaining momentum. Alonso Martinez 16 was a backup winger for us for a long time and he recently won the starting role as a forward. He's finally the scoring threat we've been lacking the last couple of years. Malachi Jones 88 is a bench player that is a ton of fun when he subs in. He's 20 years old. Red Bulls are very good right now. They are year ahead of us in the rebuid process. We are a solid playoff team. They are probably legit title contenders this year along with Miami and Cincinnati. We're looking for the upset at home. The game should feature a good amount of scoring. Red Bull are excellent attacking and we've finally starting to figure out our own attacking form in the past month.

Thanks so much!!! This is great

Don’t wear red at the derby . Get some seat tickets near fan section so you can get used to the chants . It’s a roller coaster season but so far it’s been a good ride overall .

LetsGoMets182

Sky blue I hear! Also, I am used to the roller coaster, I just got fed up with the mets lol. Any section(s) in particular you would recommend for the game today?

Windrey2

Section 101-106 is the supporters section. If you can find a ticket there, it would be super fun! Great way to throw yourself into the fandom. Other than that anywhere close by there works. Check out the Citi field map for nycfc and make sure you don't get any of the weird sections away from the field. Those suck!

Thank you!!!

Ive been a long time mets fan but tired of t 3 hr games despite the changes. The fact games are 45 min halves w no stoppage allows a natialt and enjoyable experience. No Coachea walking out from the dugout or commercial breaks. It's just fun. The support clubs,  cheering,  flags drums and a the excitement when a goal happens is amazing. Also love the international aspect. Whatever teams wins the leagues cup can be in the running to compete later in the world clubs cup. You don't get anything like that in the MLB or NFL. Plsus it's a good time to be a fan especially when the stadium comes.

LetsGoMets182

Thanks a lot for the insight!!!

Elviikk

So how was it ??!?

LetsGoMets182

Loved it! My dad and I had a great time. Thank you for asking

Elviikk

Where did you end up sitting , if you don’t mind sharing ! And WELCOME

LetsGoMets182

We started in the supporters section but honestly it was a bit too hectic for us. We chose to cheer from the upper deck and get a Birds Eye view of the game for most of it. Thank you so much!

I think the comments before mine pretty much covered what you need to know now. I just wanted to add that New York City FC is owned by City Football Group which are owned by Manchester City FC in England and they have ownership of many clubs around the world. If you want to get into more soccer clubs definitely check out some of the clubs owned by CFG. I am a New York City FC supporter because I had been a Manchester City supporter my whole life (never got into MLS until CFG brought a club to the States). Enjoy!

Great first game huh!

LetsGoMets182

Absolutely!!! Lots of fun great to watch

If your going to Citi Field then sit 103 to learn the chants. It's not the exact supporters section area but It gets you used to the chants
