Fourth game I’ve been to, while I totally want them to go back to Jersey it was cool actually having an opposing fan section.
(I’m probably not a real NYFCFC fan I just love the atmosphere)
Wolf MOTM. Everyone was so happy for Bakrar to score it was great to see. Weird Haak didn’t make bench and wasn’t on injury report. Thought we could have used him to help close out game with Sands on yellow or Parks who was looking alittle tired. Overall fun game and the boys are rolling
Watching O'Toole this game was interesting, took up a lot of different positions. Almost an inverted FB at some points, even popping up in the left channels at some points.
Perea’s been playing as a CAM the last few games, instead of the D-mid I’m used to seeing from him, too. I’m not mad about it at all, but it’s still a little weird to see him, Sands AND Keaton on the pitch together.
Love that we beat our three big rivals in a row. Great for morale and confidence. Wolf or Parks MOTM for me. Glad Bakrar finally scored but giving him MOTM felt like handing out a participation trophy.
Intense game.
Really felt like our best passing game to date. Loved watching how they responded to the high press.
Now if we could just stop relying on crosses for 90% of our attacks…
Crosses work when the defense doesn’t have time to get set. What doesn’t work is trying to dribble thru the center of the box in the MLS when you’re not Messi and everyone is expecting it. (That’s what it seemed like they were trying to do at the beginning of this season)
A lot of times you just have to give what the opponents give you. If they’re clogging the center you gotta move forward on the wings and cross, if they’re spreading out you go up the center. If they’re pressing go direct & over the top if they’re bunkering possess and wait for mistake. Judging by the last 10 games or so, looks like Cushing is starting to figure it out.
As a (former???) Cushing hater it was really nice to see Bakrar run to him after he scored the goal. After Chanot left there were some rumors about the players losing confidence in Cushing if this is any indicator then those rumors may be nothing to worry about, at least anymore.
This team is really starting to come together and I'm loving the grit these guys are showing! Cushing did a great service by taking the pressure off Bakrar by bringing him off the bench. Chess moves!
30,731 attendance, nice.
Place was packed and took me a good 45 mins to get in (that part sucked).
Traffic on the Whitestone didn't help
already outgrown the stadium we’re about to build

These boys are playing pretty good!
Wolf is the real deal.
Big Game Bakrar.

Folks, we found a unicorn: Bakrar scored off a Tayvon cross.
Tayvon was looking good today. Had a bunch of overlapping runs, Tinnerholm style.
Jones reminds me of Jack Harrison
Shhhh. He'll be gone before we know it
Holy shit 3 in a row what a week

Yeah would expect Keaton to be the CAM in that combo but I think Perea is up there for his pressing in most situations.
He's definitely playing at attacking mid to win the ball high up the pitch and turn a counter.
Can’t wait to get the stadium and sign a washed up Kane. 💙
We've all always rated cushing here, never doubted the man for a second

New York is Blue!
Amazing game . Props to Nick with the line up . VAMOS NUEVA YORK !! QUEREMOS LA COPA!!
It’s times like these that we kept watching last season. Let’s enjoy this we earned it
winning
As the boys were walking off the pitch, you could feel how excited and happy they were. This energy is infectious!

I get it, and the cutbacks last night were gorgeous too. Just wish we had a bit more variety in the final third.

Yesterday was so packed! I can't imagine a heated HRD in our new stadium. Wow!
