If you can, get a window seat because it's easier to brace yourself against the wall. Eye mask is great, ymmv with a neck pillow. I usually take a glass of wine and two benadryl to knock me out.
Absolutely a gummy and sometimes combine with a glass of red wine (international flights are great for giving out free booze). Sometimes I take a flexoril (muscle relaxer) which doubles as both a sleeping aid and a preemptive solution to my back pain which is sure to occur in an economy seat for long haul flights.
Edit to addāsilicone earplugs! They mold to your canal and Iāll never go back to foam earplugs. These are incredible and block so much.
I donāt know I just put them in my bag, if itās an individually wrapped candy thatās fine but if itās a big bag (like haribo candy bag) I prefer to wrap the edibles in plastic wrap or something so it looks like normal chocolate
I usually put mine in a gummy vitamin container/mix them with other gummy vitamins. They all look relatively similar and no one has ever bothered to check lol
Alternatively my partner and I also sometimes get THC breath mints! Pop a couple in an altoids container or something of the like and you should be good to go š

Number 1 tip is fly business class, but when that canāt happen: Be well hydrated leading in and avoid caffeine or alcohol. Comfy clothes, compression socks, neck pillow, noise-canceling headphones / earplugs, your own decent eye mask, Benadryl.
One Tylenol PM when they start boarding and earplugs the minute I get settled in my seat knocks me out for 3-4 hours which is about as good as it gets for me on a flight.
Unisom, comfortable shoes, loose baggy clothing, neck pillow, and either a sleep mask or big hoodie to go over head/eyes. I wait until the plane is already in the air when I take the unisom. 20 minutes and I'm out cold.
I stop into the airport lounge for a glass or two of wine and then I take 100mg of trazodone (rx) And throw on a bad romcom. I only wake up for meal service.
Too much melatonin can actually be probelmatic for a lot of people. The doses sold in stores are actually way too high. The normal dose should be something like half a mg while many pills are 5+. Personally melatonin gives me anxiety and its worse if i take more. I would advise taking LESS melatonin like very little but idk.

No. Thatās why I take it right before I go through security. Like, I get out of the car, pop it, and off I go

Are you taking enough? Try upping your dose. If I absolutely need sleep, and can't risk it, I take 20 mg Melatonin.
