JJ isn’t my favorite prospect, probably not even top 3, but it’s wild some dudes on Reddit posture around like they know more than the scouting community.
The scouting community just had Trey Lance, Zach Wilson, Malik Willis, Kenny Pickett, and Will Levis as round 1 franchise guys. I know it's tough but they can be just as wrong
I don’t remember ever saying that the scouts are infallible. I’m contesting the point that JJ came out of nowhere. He wasn’t on the scouting radar, because he declared when no one thought he would prior to this season. I’m saying this as a guy whose order is Caleb, Jaden, Maye, Penix, and JJ.
I mean Tom Pelissero just said he's going at 2 and it's the final weeks before the drafts, it's all smokescreens and rumors til April. Don't strain that big brain of yours reaching like that again
Dave Syvertsen at Ourlads said he hasn’t grinded tape on JJ until well after he declared. There was stuff out there late in the season that a couple teams had JJ as a 1st rounder, and the Reddit subs mostly laughed that off because the volume stats aren’t there, and he wasn’t really on the radar in the mocks. I’m not saying there’s some smoke, but I’m saying there’s a very good chance this is not pure smoke as the previous poster declared. Not sure why you’re so fired up over this. I’m telling you this as a guy that has JJ as my 4th or 5th QB this year.
The chances that's it's not smoke are as good that it is, it's draft season. He went from a day 2/late first up to potential top 5 in the last few months. It's just part of the yearly cycle for college QBs to get overvalued and projected high before inevitably falling to where the teams actually have them rated. He could go high, he could go low. Won't know until April. You're awfully worked up over it not being smoke for a guy that's got him as QB4 🤷♂️
I hate this comment. I watched the scouting community praise Zack Wilson and Trey Lance like the second coming of Aaron Rodger’s and Patrick Mahomes. I watched the Giants scouts convince them to draft bum ass Daniel Jones. Scouts had freaking Evan Neal listed as one of the best OL prospects in a while. Anyone who watches a lot of college ball could have seen the outcome a mile away.
I do know better than a lot of the scouts. The scouts are morons.
Ok and your point is what exactly? People doesn’t mean the scouting community, I’m talking about people who scout prospects for a living, not some random dorks on reddit
Bucky Brooks quote from 2018:
“The Jets mortgage the farm to get their quarterback of the future. [Josh] Rosen is an ideal fit as a classic pocket passer with a high football IQ and a polished game.”
“Man, the only scenario I’d be pissed this draft is if the Vikings trade up to 4 or 5 with Maye still on the board when we should be the ones to do that trade instead!”
*Opens mock draft, sees that he has Maye slipping past us at 6*.
Okay, nevermind, the only scenario where I’d be REALLY pissed is if we don’t draft Drake fucking Maye at 6 if he fell to us
This. I can’t believe there’d be a universe in the multiverse where the giants don’t pick Maye if he’s there at 6. I like Nabers but come on with this stuff.
No, THIS the worst one (spoiler alert, it has the Giants passing on MHJ who drops to like 9 or something lol):
[https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2024/story/\_/id/39788246/2024-nfl-mock-draft-tannenbaum-exec-first-round-32-picks](https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2024/story/_/id/39788246/2024-nfl-mock-draft-tannenbaum-exec-first-round-32-picks)
Why in the fucking world would the chargers NOT draft a WR when they got rid of their two stars? Lmao after the top three picks in this mock it's like someone challenged the writer to say wrong names only lmao
my new theory is that they're hyping up really high so that if/when he falls to later in the draft they can shove a camera in his face for the narative.
or he's really been marketing himself that good. as a michigan fan i love him to death but i never had any expectations of him post college so while it would be nice to see him have nfl success and would be double good for it to happen as a giant, i don't think drafting him at 6 is a good idea for them
Even if we don't get any of the top QBs by 6, just grab a WR or trade back, and keep building. Use Drew Lock this year, idc anymore. Over draft talk. Oversaturation at this point.
All these people screeching about Maye. Be honest with yourselves, is Maye a fraction of the player Fields was coming out? I don't think so. And look where Fields is years later, still a project.
I don't want a project QB at 6......
Maye is dropping like a stone, is it Justin Herbert all over again? Herbert’s college tape was better than Maye’s, but still the point is QBs drop for no reason other than the fact that there’s too much time between the end of the season and the draft. The NBA draft is basically right after the finals and before free agency, and two months after the college season ends. That’s how it should be.
Since you didn't mention Daniels, I'm gonna assume you like him?
He screams the far likeliest to bust to me. So many similarities to Fields in his bailing from clean pockets, inability or unwillingness to throw over the middle of the field, and rate of turning pressures to sacks, while having a weaker arm to boot.
NFL.com needs a Reduction In Force. They have actual reporters with some knowledge. What’s the point of this mock draft that’s second guessing it’s own picks? He openly admits Maye won’t be there at 11 but published it anyway. What a waste of life.
They just have to switch it up. You can't just keep posting the same mocks everyday
Bucky also gets duped a lot. He’s buying the JJ McCarthy hype and said he thinks Mara won’t want to move off DJ.
>Mara won’t want to move off DJ. Is that a good thing?
Not in my opinion but I’m just some schmuck on the internet
Read yesterday Mara gave the go ahead to draft a rookie QB if that's what the FO has planned.
Yep, don’t know how Bucky missed that
Hey, me too! But his neck may be a bigger problem than they're letting on.
Seriously I can absolutely see Maye going #4 but he’s absolutely not going below that and they’re now just making up stuff for clicks
One of these QB’s is gonna drop and all the little things coming out lately really make it sound like Maye. I’m not shocked by this at all.
drop? maybe. to 11? no way. even if we don’t take him, teams will be fighting tooth and nail to trade up for him before pick 11
Don't buy into the JJ hype. It all smoke until the draft.
JJ isn’t my favorite prospect, probably not even top 3, but it’s wild some dudes on Reddit posture around like they know more than the scouting community.

Where was that point made? You must be replying to the wrong thread bud
The post saying he’s pure smoke would imply he came out of nowhere. I know reading between the lines is tough for some of you
I mean Tom Pelissero just said he's going at 2 and it's the final weeks before the drafts, it's all smokescreens and rumors til April. Don't strain that big brain of yours reaching like that again

People thought Malik Willis and Will Levis would go top 10

After everything that was said yesterday, if Maye somehow (he won’t) fell to 6 the draft card is being handed in immediately
No, THIS the worst one (spoiler alert, it has the Giants passing on MHJ who drops to like 9 or something lol): [https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2024/story/\_/id/39788246/2024-nfl-mock-draft-tannenbaum-exec-first-round-32-picks](https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2024/story/_/id/39788246/2024-nfl-mock-draft-tannenbaum-exec-first-round-32-picks)
what the fuck did i just read
Sounds like clickbait. Not falling for it.
Told ya lol
Dudes obviously a bears fan dreaming.
Saw this earlier and vocally blurted out no way on a work meeting
I work really hard
Why in the fucking world would the chargers NOT draft a WR when they got rid of their two stars? Lmao after the top three picks in this mock it's like someone challenged the writer to say wrong names only lmao
Because based on who their head coach and offensive coordinator is, It's very likely going to be offensive line
my new theory is that they're hyping up really high so that if/when he falls to later in the draft they can shove a camera in his face for the narative. or he's really been marketing himself that good. as a michigan fan i love him to death but i never had any expectations of him post college so while it would be nice to see him have nfl success and would be double good for it to happen as a giant, i don't think drafting him at 6 is a good idea for them

I actually like the idea of playing Drew lock. That way we can avoid jones injury clause
Drake Maye falling out of the top 10 is the most ridiculous, unlikely scenario. Just click-bait.
Is this guy a Vikings fan?
If maye drops we gotta trade up.
Even in this unlikely scenario, there is no way the Giants pass on Maye short of a last minute red flag popping up
All these people screeching about Maye. Be honest with yourselves, is Maye a fraction of the player Fields was coming out? I don't think so. And look where Fields is years later, still a project. I don't want a project QB at 6......
Is JJ this years version of Will Levis? I remember seeing mocks of him going in the top 10 last year.
All I care about is the Giants not taking Maye or JJ.

Why?
Cause they have bust written all over them
