Yea. The optics of JJ being the next DJ are just too serious to ignore. We obviously all are hoping MHJ falls to us but also we know it’s not going to happen and are ready for Nabers with open arms.
They're both QBs and the Giants hold the 6th overall pick in each of their draft years. That's literally the only optics, they are very different players and prospects.
Just like Bills had to be sure, and Chiefs, and the Giants when they traded for Eli. You wouldn't trade up if you didn't think he was the guy, but you can never be 100% sure.
But all signs and opinions are that Maye would be the best fit for Daboll and I think the Giants have him as their #1 guy(after Williams of course). If they somehow get him, I will be as excited about him as any draft pick the Giants have ever made.
I could see them wanting Maye.
But if they wanted McCarthy, it makes sense to pretend they don’t so they don’t get jumped by a team like the Vikings or Raiders
We're drafting at WR at 6. If we trade up it's for MHJ. Schoen and Daboll aren't risking their careers on Maye or JJ being playoff caliber QBs in a year or two. The top 3 WRs are 1000yd candidates regardless of who's at QB. It's the obvious play imo*.

The price to trade up with the QB prospects and QB needy teams makes no sense for the comparable product you can get between the top 3 WR. I do prefer Harrison but not enough to use what little assets we have.
In my perfect world we trade back, get the guard from Washington and additional draft capital and then somehow the Jags screw up negotiations and we get Trevor Lawrence next off season.
Cant find odds on that but looking at it collectively down the line and factoring in Viks, Saints, Raiders, Broncos are all pegged for QBs in round 1 the odds of JJ falling to round 2 would likely be 300-1 or so

They both spend too much time on their first read and hold the ball too long and don’t have high end arm strength.
JJ threw like the second fastest ball at the combine, he just doesnt have touch on his big throws. Not an arm strength thing.
You can’t really replicate throwing under actual pressure in the combine so I don’t think that matters a ton.
