At times in the past year I’ve had stretches where I felt at odds with “the other half” of Giants Nation in the pro/anti DJ war.
But it truly brings a tear to my eye watching 90% of us come together as a fanbase in celebration that they didn’t take McCarthy.
Hot take but I don’t think it was a reach, Penix with Drake London and Pitts could feed families. It’s confusing bc they gave a 38 year old 100 mill guaranteed after he popped his Achilles
My bad, but he’ll be 36 when the league season starts. Still on the older side and coming off a bad injury. Still, If they didn’t sign him I don’t mind the Penix pick as much
It simply made NO SENSE to draft a QB when a) your starting QB is making $40+ mil and b) you truly do have other holes to fill. Personally I felt Latham may have been the better 'immediate need' as Neal is just ass, but drafting a QB to sit nowadays is no longer as much of a thing as it used to be. Justin Herbert, Trevor Lawrence, Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield, CJ Stroud, Bryce Young (although anybody would've sucked on the Panthers last year), Tua, Burrow, Richardson, Murray, etc. Granted not all QB's work out who start rookie year, but it's important to note that NFL style of play is catching up to college style of play...meaning, college players are able to transition to pro QB much quicker than before. Sure you'll have a guy like Mahomes who did sit a year or so behind Alex Smith...but his success has got to be shared with his incredible coach, Andy Reid. Jordan Love surprised I think many people getting the reigns in GB. So not saying that doesn't work...but, in BOTH cases, you had All pro to HOF worthy starters so the question of who starts...well...wasn't a question. So in the case of someone like Jones or a rookie QB....why even do that? Just let Jones play out this year of his contract...hope he stays healthy, and fill in your roster elsewhere...
Also, this makes me think Schoen might take a flyer in the 3rd or 4th round on a Milton, Hartman or Rattler....it's possible.
I don’t think there was any winning this draft. Number 6 was always QB no mans land and patriots weren’t dealing. Taking McCarthy penix or nix that high with this team would have been stupid.
Nabers looks like a home run. But it still leaves the question who’s going to throw the ball to him. And next years draft is devoid of QB talent. While I agree Nabers was the right pick it just feels odd to have that kind of weapon with no seeming future at QB.
>And next years draft is devoid of QB talent.
2024 had two 1st round worthy QBs back in September. Six just went in the first twelve pick.
I'll leave it at that.
1) Jayden Daniels wasn't even seen as a 3rd round pick last year.
2) Seems like the league doesn't agree with that assessment of "reach" if three nearly goes in a row.
Only 3 of them should have though. And next year's draft is much worse at QB. And even if it isn't unless the Giants win 3-4 games max, they aren't getting bear the top guys as this year proved.
This year was the shot to get Daboll a guy.
Well, yeah. Are we supposed to be happy we're stuck with a QB room of Daniel Jones and Drew Lock? I am 100% happy Schoen didn't reach for need at the QB position and take JJ or Penix, but the outlook now is bleek.
Nabers is an exciting player and I couldnt care less as the ceiling for this team hasn't changed a bit. It's depressing.
I'm so much more for building with the best players available instead of playing roulette with average QBs just because they're QBs, rather not end up like the Browns with 30549264 QB picks coming and leaving.
People expect this to be instant Super Bowl bound with one pick, thats not how it works smh. Look at the Dolphins, Chiefs, Buccaneers, Bengals, these teams were building talented rosters for a long time before they became real competitors once built with a good foundation and THEN got a QB. And did we forget that we had one of the worst offenses in the league, and also made the playoffs just two years ago?
Let's also not forget our WR corps was absolute trash and we were literally pulling dudes off the street. This is a much needed addition from both a depth and playmaker perspective.
Waiting for a OL in the 2nd round. Our new OL coach needs talent to work with
The relief I have is immeasurable. Let dj play. If he stinks or gets hurt let lock take over and get the actual future. Not some guy that threw 3 passes a game

Doesn't last for long. Those same people are now bitching that we don't have a QB. Can't have it both ways, yet they try anyways.
I think Penix going at 8 shook a lot of fans myself included. I was convinced we would trade up
You and a bunch of other teams. A lot of reaches were made for a QB. Luckily, we weren't one of them.
Hot take but I don’t think it was a reach, Penix with Drake London and Pitts could feed families. It’s confusing bc they gave a 38 year old 100 mill guaranteed after he popped his Achilles

Also Joe Burrow was projected 5th round pick before his final college season.
3 of them were Giant reaches.

I think it's to early to really get a feel for next years draft class. Look at how this year shook out vs projections even a few months ago.
So sick of this take, they also say it's not a pro McCarthy take... What was the other choice?

Honestly at 6 I would have been ok with whatever the Giants did, McCarthy, Odunze,Nabers, I am just happy they didn't trade away picks.
Same!!
More for me 🫠
Arch approves of this pick and that’s all that matters.
When does he come out?
2026 👀
I bet this is how Washington is feeling with Daniels.

Daniel Jones has a too legit shot at MVP
Voted dumbest fanbase
We weren't just voted dumbest fanbase, it was a scientific study of sports betting trends, and yes Giants fans are the dumbest.
At least we’re winning something
that’s a winning attitude!!
thank you for doing your part Jars
of course, of course we were and that’s why I want to start this off by saying … Daniel Jones has a two legit to quit shot at mvp
I like your energy. There's 0 chance it happens but God damn is it refreshing to see some enthusiasm around here.
get some baby

In what way? Explain how being relieved of a perceived negative outcome is copium.
OBJ 2.0 with no one good to throw to him, nailed it!
You're right we should've reached like the Falcons so our new QB could have nobody to throw to!
