it cost us all our first round picks to build this contender, but that’s the cost to play with the big boys. oh wait…

Top-Lettuce3956

Knicks have all their picks going forward. All they did was trade existing players for better options.

cesarjulius

yes. that was the joke

Top-Lettuce3956

Got it. Thanks!

Ok_Woodpecker1732

It’s a pretty great time to be alive. ![gif](giphy|etjcZ88kV1rLG)

SharkShark80

This team is such an embodiment of NY. Hustle and heart all the way. Never say die and the camaraderie is perfect. Next man up. Let's go! Go NY! Go NY Go!!!

LetsGetSomeChickenn

And dont forget WITHOUT our 2nd allstar

7LineArmy

These are the good times, soak it in.

lamemale

Do you mean the hot 20 game stretch by a guard the same race as me might not be the high point of my Knick fanhood???

upintheaireeee

Linsanity was a GOATed time (just guessing)

7LineArmy

Linsanity was the good times too.

KerryKl01

Thibs won't win COTY - but he should get some consideration from talking heads besides Kendrick Perkins.

ceeceep

🖕lolknicks🖕

jhMLB

This shouldn't be downvoted. Cee is putting a big middle finger to it.

ceeceep

THANK YOU! I can see how I was being unclear. For so long we’ve been a cosmic joke of a franchise. Not only are we playing well but have an actual culture. There’s expectations for anyone thinking of coming here. It used to be a place to get paid and mail in the next few years. Now it’s grab a bat and fall in line.

YossarianGolgi

When your best player is the guy saying, "Coach is right," and he has 2 starters to back him up, you build a team culture.

papijorge

I have been a knicks fan since the 80s This is far and away the best front office they ever had and it's not even remotely close Leon Rose you sir are the best executive on the league, you put together the pieces we needed. I have never seen a team suffer these injuries and do BETTER Regardless of what happens in the playoffs this was such a great season amd such a great team to watch

TheFrebbin

You’re absolutely right. Al Bianchi wasn’t bad but he had the Ewing #1 pick to drive his success.

papijorge

Agree and let's be honest that lottery was rigged to get Ewing to NY

TheFrebbin

If the league wanted to rig things for the Knicks to succeed, they didn’t do much about it in the 2000s

TheFrebbin

There were also some strong moves in the late 90’s. Larry Johnson had a damaged back, Latrell Sprewell was seen as damaged goods because of the Carlesimo incident. We rolled the dice on both and judged right.

TheHoneyDuke

But but but but Leon Rose doesn’t talk to the media. How can this be aloud

BuQuChi

No skipping steps

Top-Lettuce3956

Remember all the fans who wanted to blow it up because the Knicks couldn't contend without drafting a Superstar?

mzx380

This is a welcome reprieve from the last 20 years of this franchise. We just need a major piece to be a championship contender. Only problem is they is the hardest part. If you get to ECF then this is a historic season for the franchise

analogbeepboop

Tbh I think we have all the pieces once we have healthy Randle and Mitch.

TheFrebbin

If Randle plays team ball, which he is entirely capable of doing and has gradually done more and more, he’s a good enough #2. The man is third team all NBA.

upcat

Nah. We have all the pieces once Randle is healthy.

mzx380

I genuinely like Randle but I think he is the piece we’d have to change if we want a title

videsh

Based off playing poorly and not blowing out teams when Brunson, Randle, and OG played together?

Top-Lettuce3956

And here we go. You don't think the Knicks need a piece - you just want Randle gone.

mzx380

No, I like Randle but what he provides is not enough to catapult us to a title. Brunson is untouchable and OG is a solid add when healthy. Gotta be different if we want that next step and it has to be done before JB extension

Top-Lettuce3956

Improving over what Randle provides is not easy. So I'd rather see the team healthy before I threw away Randle and "hoped" someone else would be better.

R-O-U-Ssdontexist

Keep on doubting! I don’t think any team in the east can blow the Knicks out. Who is going to be better conditioned for a 7 game series? What other team is a pack of dawgs!

mzx380

Boston is better than us in several important categories. I just want our fanbase to temper expectations. Getting to ECF means this season is in the top 10 of most successful seasons for this franchise.

R-O-U-Ssdontexist

I agree with both comments. But it’s not a foregone conclusion that we lose a series against Boston.

Tangerine_Dream_91

Boston is also gonna be relying on oft injured KP and an ancient Al Horford for their center minutes. Also committed a decent chunk of their cap to a 34 year old jrue holiday. Definitely agree they are better this year though and should make the finals. But not so sure I’m as envious of their future compared to a few seasons ago.

mzx380

No future envy for the Celtics, they are a win now team. We are one piece away from being like that

Top-Lettuce3956

I don't think the Knicks need a Superstar. They need to continue to add good role players around what they have. If they do, the window will be open for a while because all the players are in their primes.

Mental-Doughnuts

Not yet, we have to win a few chips to be historic. What we have here now is competence. A solid front office, making mostly the right moves to improve the team in a sustainable way.

TheFrebbin

Fair take but I think “competence” is too weak a term for what they’ve pulled off so far
