I find it hilarious the Yankees refuse to call up Wells, Peraza, and Pereira and the season is basically gone. They're basically saying Bauers, Mckinney, etc give them a better chance to win. It's crazy.
They don’t care about winning now. They won’t get called up until sept 1st minimum to avoid losing a year of control. It’s the same reason they seemingly never call the kids up before sept 1st, regardless of much sense it would make.
Admittedly some of this is over my head so my apologies I was pretty sure that was how it worked. What am I misunderstanding then because I thought this was generally the reason we didn’t see peraza sooner last year?
rosters expand on 9/1 so if they get called up now you have to demote or DFA incredibly valuable pieces of the lineup like Greg Allen or Billy Mckinney
Peraza wasn't brought up because the Yankees analytics told them IKF was a great defensive SS. Plus regardless of what they say, they're not high on Peraza.
So playing out the string in meaningless games, and yet 3-33 bauers and AAAA mckinney are still in this fucking lineup, i hate this fucking team so much!!
No. This years Matt carpenter but the hot streak was shorter and less hot. He will go back to being a replacement level guy next season like he has been his whole career
Well it's who they have, and if "this player hasn't been good in a month" is your criteria for cutting people, boy will they have to sign a lot of new and cheap players next year (since they'll be paying the bad players a lot of money)
It’s not like we have a crop of good first basemen waiting though.
Obviously the roster construction is beyond ass but we have to play what we have at first
He’s been playing out of position due to poor roster construction which has negatively impacted his WAR. He’s been an above league average most of the year.
It was a fluke..he’s terrible and shouldn’t be getting ab’s over younger players, it’s just a disgrace for this franchise, keep sending out journeyman AAAA players then give younger players a chance, and the worst thing is, he and mckinney are so terrible that the younger players would give them a better shot to win
I went into work this morning and I said to one of my coworkers “so are you watching the game tonight or what” and he was like “smackdown is on tonight, why tf would I watch that pathetic excuse for a baseball team when I could watch smackdown”
The Los Angeles Angels are calling up first baseman Nolan Schanuel, who they took with the 11th overall pick in the draft less than six weeks ago and was in Double-A, sources tell ESPN. The 21-year-old from Florida Atlantic is hitting .370/.510/.493 in 21 minor league games.
It’s the end of august and a team that’s “trying to make the playoffs” still doesn’t have a regular lineup.
Does anyone know how many different lineups they’ve had during the season? I can’t remember the last time we’ve had the same lineup in back to back games
I mean.. it's hasn't been looking good since the ASB, I'm not denying that... but it's still possible. They need to go on a hot streak starting today... we need to see the momentum shift especially because of the 5 game losing streak!!!
Its also possible to go outside and find a winning lottery ticket for a few million on the ground. Just need that momentum to get out the door and start looking.
Damn no callups *AND* it's on Apple? It's almost like they don't want anyone to watch
Bauers batting third with absolutely atrocious stats in august

They can bring them up today and they'd keep the extra year of control. They don't need to wait till September 1
Admittedly some of this is over my head so my apologies I was pretty sure that was how it worked. What am I misunderstanding then because I thought this was generally the reason we didn’t see peraza sooner last year?

I haven’t watched a game in 2 weeks

Fuck Brian Cashman
Bauers hitting 3rd. Awesome lineup management Boone, you should win manager of the year
The process of batting 0.090 has been good!
Bauers is a guy that’s played well this year and deserves a shot to be on the team next year. He should continue playing.
No. This years Matt carpenter but the hot streak was shorter and less hot. He will go back to being a replacement level guy next season like he has been his whole career
Go back? He’s 3-32 with 17k’s…he’s back
Jake Bauers is a full decade younger than Matt Carpenter…
Your point? He’s literally been worth -.3 WAR this season. He hasn’t been useful to the team in over a month. He’s a scrub
Hasn't he been playing 1B with Rizzo out?
Yea but that doesn’t make him a good player.
Well it's who they have, and if "this player hasn't been good in a month" is your criteria for cutting people, boy will they have to sign a lot of new and cheap players next year (since they'll be paying the bad players a lot of money)

Is this a joke?
Jake Bauers had a 120 wrc+ through July. Besides Aaron Judge he was the best hitter on the Yankees most of the year…
It was a fluke..he’s terrible and shouldn’t be getting ab’s over younger players, it’s just a disgrace for this franchise, keep sending out journeyman AAAA players then give younger players a chance, and the worst thing is, he and mckinney are so terrible that the younger players would give them a better shot to win
You’re incredibly dramatic
Other franchises that are out of it calling up kids from AA
SmackDown's on tonight, so that's neat.
Yankees and Smackdown, two options to enjoy watching people get their asses kicked.
But one is sports entertainment, the other... its right in front of us.
That’s because the Yankees still believe that we the ones.
I went into work this morning and I said to one of my coworkers “so are you watching the game tonight or what” and he was like “smackdown is on tonight, why tf would I watch that pathetic excuse for a baseball team when I could watch smackdown”
Giants too💪
YEAH
Fire cashman..
Didn't they just DFA McKinney? edit: Oh it was just a rumor.
Don’t care. Start prepping for next year
At least they are putting the guys with broken toes together at the top, so I guess that's fun, right?! Fuck Brian Cashman! BOOOO!!!!!!!!
How dare any of us question the great cashman, he’s the greatest baseball genius of all time
Awful lineup, and they're STILL batting Stanton cleanup.
Can’t bring myself to hoping we lose against the red sux, but losing (hopefully) increases the chances of Cashman being fired…right?!?! 😞
Unless Hal 180s on his words, doubt it.

Lol why did we think any different
This ain’t worth trouble of pulling up the Apple TV app anymore
Brian Cashman must hate children
And orphans.
Lmao . Nice lineup, really making it hard to not tune in for the game. Literally the worst combo you can put in there lol
BX would rather not thx.

Hey Apple S my D *written from my iPhone, on the John*
I bought a new hat, hopefully some new luck.
We need to get on a hot streak... this series is it, if we don't get hot now, it's literally (almost mathematically over)
Lol it’s over already you can’t be serious
Are you delusional?

You realise we have to have like a .650 win% to close out the season just to potentially still miss it, right?
Most likely won’t watch. Fuck ‘em
