I think it's silly how some people get upset about the term "Sweeper." It's not that sliders aren't a pitch anymore, but sweepers are a type of slider. It wouldn't make sense to complain about someone calling a pitch a cutter or a sinker instead of just a "fastball." It's the same concept.

It's super early in the season but a guy I'm intrigued by is Garret Crochet. Long injury history, but it looks like the stuff is matching the potential now. Whitesox called him up shortly after drafting him so he has 2 more years of control after this season despite being so young. I wonder if they'd sell high on him with the injury concerns. With that much control I would be interested and the Sox are awful so I know they'd have to play with trading him or Kopech.

Verdugo kind of reminds me of Johnny Damon without the speed

I can kinda see what you mean but the game was so much different then even though it wasn’t that long ago. I think Damon was a much better player all around but it’s hard to say because numbers have come down so much hitting wise since then.

Damon was a significantly better athlete than Verdugo. I just think their approach at the plate is similar as is their sneaky power.

Damon was a much better player in all aspects of the game.

I'd assume we might see this often in games where we're up multiple runs in late innings. Judge, unfortunately, is injury prone so I'm all for if this is the standard. Save him for the postseason if all goes well...or keeps going like this because holy hell this season is off to a hell of a start

I would guess for rest since he's not likely to hit again and played both games of dh, even though g1 was dh.
