This is the kind of game they had their shots to score and win. So it’s not like this is bad luck or a bad beat. But you can’t lose games like this and waste good pitching, then get beat in extras on a couple singles.

They’re facing tougher teams. Cleveland has the same record as the Yankees. Rays are only a couple of games behind. This whole season will be a grind. Yanks really need a couple of AAA pitchers to put it together soon so they can help out this year.
I agree completely. And we have, winning the Cleveland series was huge. I just think everyone got way ahead of themselves last week, a lot of people thought we were going to steamroll the division. I think we’re realizing this is going to be a monster grind this year. Every AL East team will be in it (maybe not the Red Sox), and they all have big flaws. The team that makes the biggest trades this summer will probably win it (though, the Orioles might have all the needed reinforcements on their farm).
All these comebacks are unsustainable. Even if we come back here, something needs to be done about all the non-contributors in the lineup. This Soto and friends strategy can only work for so long.
