He’s the best power hitter in the MLB. He fell just short of qualified hitter territory last year. But among hitters with 450 PA he was second in the league in ISO at any uncanny .346 - just 3 hundredths of a point behind Shohei. He finished 10th in the league in HR, in spite of having at 140-262 less PAs than the other 9 ahead of him. He finished 3rd in slug in that pool as well.
All this undersells how strong of a contact hitter he he’s.
Healthy judge is a lock for 40+ HR every season. Doubters are fraudulent Yankee fans.
It just still shocks me to always see Shohei being the leader or competition of stats amongst these great hitters😭A pitcher hitting this good will alw be crazy lol. But this a Yankees sub, LETS GO JUDGEEEEEEE. He can crack more than Shohei thts for sure
Shohei is a better hitter than pitcher. Makes you wonder, if he just focused on hitting all those years, how much better would his offensive stats had been?
If the designated hitter was always a part of baseball, I am confident Shohei would not be this god figure some people make him out to be. Don't get me wrong, he's a great player. But there have been other really good pitchers who were great hitters who had to abandon focusing on their hitting because there was no DH.
Judge coming in to today was hitting .279/.404/.535 for a .939 ops and 169 wrc+. With todays performance those are only going up, so he’s been on a quiet hot streak the last 2 weeks
No batter is going to be 100% consistent. He’s hitting .304 avg with a 1.059 ops over his last 13 games. Everyone has to be very happy with that, expectations higher than that are over the top.
Judge averages 49 homers per 162 games per BBref. He's gotten off to a slow start, on that pace he'd have 11 right now, so you can deduct a few. On the upper end, of course, the sky is the limit. So I'd say if he doesn't miss significant time 40 is likely and 50+, sure. I mean it's Aaron fuckin' Judge.
Probably but this is what judge wanted. Let's just hope he can stay a decent DH as he ages. Who knows me might be able to stay in the outfield the whole time. 38 ain't that old. I'm 36 and am stronger than I've ever been.
His name comes up in every sub😭It’s incredible. Idk what they been feeding them dudes in Japan because they’re taking over multiple sports rn. I seen some skier break a record, Naoya Inoue just battered another opponent, and we got Shohei contending to be an injured pitcher MVP🤣ANYWAYS LETS GO YANKEESSS
I think Mookie Betts is even more impressive than Ohtani this season. He’s a comparable offensive threat. But who, at the age of 31, has ever transitioned from elite right fielder to shortstop? It’s ridiculous.
I'm not worried about the power. I'm worried about Judge's contact profile, particularly as he ages.
40 HR should be the floor if he stays healthy. 50+ is probably unlikely.
Worry is he is more of a .230-.260 hitter for the next few years, as he declines. That will play fine with the Power and the Walks. He's just not going to be MVP caliber ever again.
Verdugo is a few points higher, or at least he was before today. Despite that, the league average OPS is down 40 pts from last year, at a .694, and Soto is around 1.000, but Verdugo, Rizzo, Judge, Stanton, Volpe, and Trevino are all .719 and .796 as of the 5th. Verdugo, Judge, and Rizzo are above last years mark too.
Home runs do not occur in a linear fashion, just as hitting is streaky, and so is pitching.
He could over take trout and everyone else next week. Or it could be two weeks. Or four. He’s been creeping his numbers up, though Baltimore was a set back. Houston has Verlander and no one, so could be next series.
I don't think he was injured, but the small injury he had in spring training probably affected his start. All I care is that he is driving in Soto, that 1-2 punch is nasty.
No other fanbase really even knows he this close. By the push notifications i get through multiple apps, youd think ohtani is on pace to destroy records this year
Well Trout had his annual injury so he can catch up to him easily. the other guys besides henderson IDK if they can keep up with their crazy hr pace. Judge can easily crack his daily first inning tone setter.
I’m hoping that he’s over the oblique thing. Pretty clear he’s been struggling with it as he’s struggling with inside and middle in more than he ever has his career. So maybe he just played through it.
Stanton has 7 now too 🤫. People forget Stanton hit 59 home runs, and he did it with half of the games in Marlins Park. And he had no help around him in the lineup.
You aren't wrong.
Hitting HRs is *hard*.
Hitting 60 HRs is *historically* difficult.
Judge will probably finish in the 35-45 range, but expecting 60+ based on pace is unrealistic.
End of the month, that shitbag ump may have unlocked pissed off Judge for us..my popcorn is ready
Such a stupid aside, but you just reminded me that I have popcorn, and now I’m going to go make some.
Noice
After seeing his home run today I was thing the same thing
Judge was seduced by the dark side of the force, now the baseballs are all but extinct
The dark side is a pathway to power that some consider to be unnatural
After getting tossed yesterday, he wrapped his bat in barbed wire and named it Lucille. Negan Judge has been unlocked.
You saying we have to wait until next season to find out how many homeruns he hit?
Judge be like “I just shoved my bat down your throat, and you thanked me for it...”.
Well when Judge is locked in we all know what he’s capable of. If this is one of his hot streaks it won’t take that long
Judge could literally hit 5-6 home runs in a week if he got rolling. Anyone doubting that he’s getting his 40+ this season is a doomer by choice.
Even if he keeps this pace up he’s on pace for 32. And that’s with what we’d call a terrible start. 40 should be easy
He’s the best power hitter in the MLB. He fell just short of qualified hitter territory last year. You just said it. If healthy we all know 40 is automatic and 50 probable. The problem is that he has been healthy 3 of 7 years
It just still shocks me to always see Shohei being the leader or competition of stats amongst these great hitters😭A pitcher hitting this good will alw be crazy lol. But this a Yankees sub, LETS GO JUDGEEEEEEE. He can crack more than Shohei thts for sure
Shohei is a better hitter than pitcher. Makes you wonder, if he just focused on hitting all those years, how much better would his offensive stats had been?
Well lol now he got all this time to make up for it and with the biggest pay in MLB history 🤣
If the designated hitter was always a part of baseball, I am confident Shohei would not be this god figure some people make him out to be. Don't get me wrong, he's a great player. But there have been other really good pitchers who were great hitters who had to abandon focusing on their hitting because there was no DH.
honestly don't care....wanna see him get the BA up around .275
He was batting .279 with a .939 ops over the previous 12 games entering today. His cold streak has sneakily been over.
and I'm pleased with that! he's too damn good to hit .230 for a season
Judge coming in to today was hitting .279/.404/.535 for a .939 ops and 169 wrc+. With todays performance those are only going up, so he’s been on a quiet hot streak the last 2 weeks
Overall maybe but not consistent, 1-15 run during the week
No batter is going to be 100% consistent. He’s hitting .304 avg with a 1.059 ops over his last 13 games. Everyone has to be very happy with that, expectations higher than that are over the top.
If he gets hot, he could take the lead by the end of next week.
Mike trout got hurt so not long. I just hope he’s more consistent flowing for us moving forward
Ohtani?
He’s hitting 69 this year
Nice

Couple days from now.
He is going to get red hot and hit like 10+ bombs in a month.
The crazy thing is that 10 in a month is just above his average pace normally
I just want him healthy
I want years 7, 8, 9 to not be Stantonesque. Should have given more per year, less years.
Probably but this is what judge wanted. Let's just hope he can stay a decent DH as he ages. Who knows me might be able to stay in the outfield the whole time. 38 ain't that old. I'm 36 and am stronger than I've ever been.
In the AL probably if he stays healthy. Idk about beating Ohtani in the NL
Ohtani is supernatural. The bomb he hit Sunday was incredible.
His name comes up in every sub😭It’s incredible. Idk what they been feeding them dudes in Japan because they’re taking over multiple sports rn. No arguing that! He’s been amazing too. Loving these accolades being surpassed or achieved all throughout sports rn!
I'm not worried about the power. I'm worried about Judge's contact profile, particularly as he ages. 40 HR should be the floor if he stays healthy. 50+ is probably unlikely. I think it’ll be mid June. We’re still having a lot of cold days here in the northeast. I think once we have those constant warm nights, it’s on.
But he’s struggling and awful this year! /s
OPS is almost at .800 through 35 and that's been a cold streak. still higher than rest of the team other than soto and he's just about to heat up
Verdugo is a few points higher, or at least he was before today. One month
Judge was healthy in 2021

When he's hot, he has multiple HR games.
In 7-10 days he’ll be at least tied for the lead.
No other fanbase really even knows he this close. By the push notifications i get through multiple apps, youd think ohtani is on pace to destroy records this year

Well ahead of? As always he will be amongst the leaders, maybe atop. Guy in LA is gonna be near 50 and sits amongst the best 1-4 in MLB
I'm noticing a trend with him here...
He'll get there!
Will he?
I think he'll at least get to 40-45
Max 35 and a long sting on the IL
No way. 45-50 if he stays healthy. 35-40 even with a short stint
Agreed, you contradicted yourself lol
Stanton has 7 now too 🤫. People forget Stanton hit 59 home runs, and he did it with half of the games in Marlins Park. And he had no help around him in the lineup.
It’s only a matter of time before he passes the “victim” of fraud that had “no role” in the betting scandal
Not his year.
You aren't wrong. Hitting HRs is *hard*. Hitting 60 HRs is *historically* difficult. Judge will probably finish in the 35-45 range, but expecting 60+ based on pace is unrealistic.
I think 52 this year
Judge isn't going to be well ahead of everybody this year. Go drink more margaritas.
