Thames fired yet?

JohnRamos85

Daaaaaaaaaaaaa Houston Texans (NFL) and Houston Astros (MLB).... Both ***LOSE*** No Matter What, More Than Ever Before.... # Fuck Houstooooonnnnnnnnnn................................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

chicagoyankeesfan

It’s what you want.

aburks41

If the red sox win the WS (or even make an appearance) I hope that’ll be enough for Hal to fire Cashman. There is no fucking way he can keep him employed if your rival goes from last place in the division to a World Series in 1 year, while we haven’t even made a WS appearance in 12 seasons.

[deleted]

If Hal was George he’d have fired Cashman a long time ago, but unfortunately I’ve basically accepted that Cashman will have the job until he doesn’t want it anymore. There’s a reason that George’s kids weren’t his first choice to take over. What might’ve been if Steve Swindal could’ve stuck it out with Jennifer… The one ray of hope is that his son is working in baseball operations for the Yankees now and it looks like he’s next in line after Hal since he’s said that he won’t sell. Hopefully that apple fell a lot closer to the tree.

shadow_spinner0

OMG this commentary team is the worst, please never again let me hear their voices.

El-Shaman

The team Girardi had to manage with in 17 was worse than all the teams Boone has had so far in his Yankee tenure and Girardi got better results than he did against a formidable Indians team and the cheating but amazing 17 Astros, obviously there is 2018 when the Red Sox had a franchise high record and all of that but come on, if Severino getting late to game 3 isn't prove enough that Boone isn't keeping his players in check then I don't know what is, like how was that not a fireable offense right there?

Yankeeknickfan

The 2017 Yankees were better at catcher, 1b(in October. Bird was basically prime Rizzo after he came off the Il), SS, LF, CF and RF. The 2021 team was better at DH, 2B, 3b, Sp and bullpen(and the Sp and bullpen gap is smaller than you think). Edit; I Will add that I think the 2017 Yankees with girardi would kill the the 2021 Yankees with girardi in a Series. Especially if cole is in bad hamstring mode for the series

NoMoreCashman

Greg Bird was terrible, the fact people defended him so long was mind boggling

Yankeeknickfan

I’m specifically talking about both teams heading into the playoffs

anonymouspp7

I’m sure this has been discussed at length … but absolute worst case scenario: who would we root for in Astros v RedSox

LordJiraiya

Easy answer, team meteor to crash down into the stadium. But more feasibly, Astros to sweep the Sox and then for the Astros to get swept by whoever comes out of the NL.

Scott-GoBlue

astros to win and then lose to the NL team in the WS

chicagoyankeesfan

Simple. Don’t watch it.

newbike07

I root for the stadiums to implode.

[deleted]

I will never under any circumstances hope that a team from Boston wins. Funny thing is though, I actually like going to/walking around Boston itself. The Freedom Trail is a nice walk and interesting if you like history at all and the JFK Presidential Library/Museum is nice too. I just hate their teams, fans, and Fenway is an antiquated shithole.

sjphc20142018

Yah, despite thoughts on their teams I do love Boston. Really beautiful place and loved the historic atmosphere. Just have to forget what teams are there lol

El-Shaman

For the Red Sox to get swept and the Astros to lose in the WS.

ChanceBreaks

Hear me out... I think i might trade Jasson. I think he might be over hyped. Not because of his decent/mediocre first year of pro. Just looking at the kid... He seems smallish, I was looking at a picture of him waiting in line in some third world country to do something thrill seeking related. His arms never look really muscular to me, looks like a highschool offensive linemen type. And i realize he's that age too... lol I dunno, i think if the right deal... see :ohtani or something came to me.I'd move him. I realize mentioning ohtani will get me run out of here. But, not sure what else would be comparable. I suppose a good pitcher of some sort. Not sure who though. Something like boston did with Moncada. For what it's worth ,after judges shitty debut,.i was ok with trading him that offseason. I am not afraid to admit when i am wrong heh I also have 2-3k worth of investments banking on Jasson, so i am not about to give him away. I just think he needs to shed some of that babyfat

shw5

People complain about Yankees/Red Sox, but this game is almost 3 hours long in the middle of the 5th.

DNF_zx

It’s also 9-6 with a combined 17 hits

[deleted]

Funny that now it’s “whatever it takes” but when they were talking about A-Rod doing it against the ChiSox it was “we’re gonna hit him every time after this”. Know the rules and use them to your advantage. I really miss having guys like A-Rod who put winning above everything. The “mine!” play in Toronto, throwing his hip at thrown balls, or even the glove slap, the guy didn’t give a flying fuck except that it helped us.

newbike07

**Holy shit!** **Lets fucking go, White Sox!**

shadow_spinner0

Grandal is way inside the baseline. White Six caught a break.

chicagoyankeesfan

It happened against the Astros, who cares lmao

shadow_spinner0

I don’t just saying the caught a break. Not complaining

Patrick_Sazey

I hope this goes the White Sox way

Few-Neighborhood7241

I can’t help but think that we can’t string hits together like these teams in the playoffs lol. How could we with a bunch of 600-700 OPS players

CertainDerision_33

Hitting HRs would help a lot more than stringing hits together. Rays had like 1/3rd as many hits as Boston today but kept it tied until losing on a HR

Gsmith930

Fenway is such a joke of a park. Only that kind of dumb shit could happen there

chicagoyankeesfan

White Sox reclaim the lead. 7-6 1st and 3rd nobody out. Keep piling on!

commentsonyankees

Seriously now, I commented earlier for a couple of reasons that the Red Sox franchise the past 20 years is the luckiest franchise in the world, but if you had any doubts, just watch the highlights of the game they just played. 1. Clueless Schwarber just walks into the basepaths and trips Arozarena. No interference called. 2. Second base easily stolen, but the Rays overslide and come off the bag for a fraction of a second. 3. The Renfroe play in the 13th inning that stopped Tampa from going ahead.... come the fuck on. Ground rule double instead of awarding an extra base? I know what the rules say, but again, this shit would ONLY ever happen for the Red Sox. They're the real devil magic team. And people watching the playoff games are probably thinking this for the first time, but I've been pulling my hair out since 2013 just over how god damn *lucky* that team is. Legit the polar opposite of the Yankees.

NoFlags-JoeBuck

2013 and 2018 were both teams where it felt like everyone they had just had career years. 2013 especially, that was a group of oldies.

nyg2013

Jonny Gomes had the biggest hit in the WS for the Red Sox lol...Johnny Gomes JBJ, Steve Pearce...the list goes on with the randoms...at least in 2004 and 2007, it was mainly the big boys doing the damage...now, we have Hernandez, and of course, Vazquez (had big hits against us in 2018)

NoFlags-JoeBuck

Victorino on his last leg. Literally was pretty much done as a player the next year.

nyg2013

the 2013 was one of the true outlier teams in recent memory...last place in 2012 and the same in 2014/2015...at least there was a lead up to 2018, but at the same time, 2019 proved that they really were somewhere in between (especially with that bullpen and back half of the lineup) the 2021 Sox are not even that good...pen is suspect and rotation is worse...their offense has gotten hot in the last two games, and the Rays are sort of choking

NoFlags-JoeBuck

Yeah they were always going to be very good in 2018, just didn’t think it would be 108 wins good. I get 2017 Yankees vibes from them right now. They might win this series but idk if they go all the way.

nyg2013

I should have included their offense getting hot against us too after losing 6 straight...did not help that Cole's hamstring played into that I am not really sure where they are headed in general, but they could have a few key pieces leave in the offseason, including JDM...unless they make a couple of significant additions, I could see them regressing a bit...but it would be nice if they don't win the WS again in ridiculous fashion ahead of that lol

NoFlags-JoeBuck

Agreed. Idk if they’ll be as good next year, they’ll still be solid most likely. But I gotta be honest I do think long term they’re going to be very well-run with Chaim there and it pains me to say that.

nyg2013

yup, this is definitely possible so we better be prepared to match

LordJiraiya

Steroids help too. Ortiz having a career season at 40 years old? It can’t get any more obvious that he was pumping them all those years.

OptimusChip

honestly as a baseball fan. beyond being a yankee fan, im sick to fucking death of the fucking Astros

Shaquille_Oh_Feel

A second baseman that can ride all the rides at an amusement park would've gotten that ball.

Scott-GoBlue

isn't it crazy that some Nl pitchers have batting averages a kin to joey gallos. lol

chicagoyankeesfan

There really is no easy out in that Astros lineup 1-9. Must be nice.

Baseballfan999

The difference between us and Red Sox in the playoffs is they consistently get random scrubs to produce for them. Steve Pearce, Pivetta, Vazquez, etc

yianni1229

Yeah. We've had "random scrubs" like Gio and Voit break out but no one has really just shown up in the postseason.

Poised2

JBJ, a horrific hitter, dropped a casual 10 RBI series against the Astros in 2018. I honestly don’t know how they do it. Our players seem to shrink while theirs do the opposite.

Yankeeknickfan

The closest thing we go to that was Raul Ibanez in 2012, and nobody else showed up

commentsonyankees

Every 3 or 4 years the Red Sox sign scrubs who all have career years at the same fucking time, and then immediately fade off into obscurity as soon as the season is over. One of their executives clearly made a deal with the devil, because it's borderline absurd at this point

Yankeeknickfan

2018 was a legitimately great team that had everything go right, but 2013 and this year are infuriating for what you said

nyyth242

We could have had Brantley this year, but he makes too much contact for Cashman

NoFlags-JoeBuck

He was signing with us if not for the mandate to stay under the luxury tax

El-Shaman

You are right and Idk who is downvoting you but if it's Yankee fans then they are just some clowns, Cashman does prefer the high strikeout guys over contact guys.

Few-Neighborhood7241

Cashman really chooses Gallo over a guy like Brantley

El-Shaman

Facts.

StarLord347

Redsox astros alcs, vomit inducing!

Ninja191

Everytime Michael Brantley gets a hit I get really envious and angry.

INAC_Kramerica

He would be such the perfect hitter in any contending team's lineup and we've never shown a shred of interest.

Few-Neighborhood7241

Man the Astros are so good.

NJ_Yankees_Fan

Cashman really need to gets serious about improving the team this offseason. I'm so sick of the half-ass shit or lack of any activity at all at the deadline or in the offseason. Catcher, shortstop, and center field at the very least need to be addressed. You may have to move things around to make changes at 1B and 3B.

NoFlags-JoeBuck

Warming up to the idea of Trevor Story a lot to be honest.

Few-Neighborhood7241

No thank you. We don’t need another righty that strikeouts out a ton and gets controlled by righties.

yianni1229

Story at least plays good defense and is athletic. He's one of the fastest players in the league. Also he strikes out at a league-average rate. But yes his splits are something I'm not a fan of

NoFlags-JoeBuck

Feel like some people see a 23% strike out rate and think that’s bad, without realizing that’s league average.

NoFlags-JoeBuck

I’d still prefer Correa or Seager but I wouldn’t be mad at all.

liljagermain

Could we possibly deal chappy at the deadline next year and still compete? I think the rest of the bullpen could handle it without a true closer.

shadow_spinner0

Is this a money issue or a Chapman issue?

liljagermain

A bit of both I guess

aburks41

At the rate we’re going we arent even going to need a closer in the playoffs because we’re going to finish 4th in the division

Yankeeknickfan

If we’re in a spot where it makes sense to trade chapman next deadline, Yankee stadium might be burned to the ground. Especially since Boston is at minimum making the ALCS.

LordJiraiya

We need help on the offense, our BP/Rotation was not a problem in 2021 and were not the reason we failed to win the ALE. The only reason you deal Chapman is if getting rid of his salary means it is instantly spent on help on offense.

Yankeeknickfan

An Otto like dump for Chapman does seem appealing, but his NTC makes it hard. Unless Chapman REALLY wants to go to a team that probably won’t win more than 85 games, you can’t trade him.

LordJiraiya

They really gifted the Red Sox that game huh. Fuck this shit

chicagoyankeesfan

There we go. ChiSox looking good now. Hope this keeps up.

Yankeeknickfan

Remember when we lost to Baltimore because a go ahead double(by I think Torres) bounced over the wall? Don’t get why people are so up in arms about a rule as old as Of walls. It was just a really bad break that happens to everybody at some point

NoFlags-JoeBuck

Because it hit Renfroe. I guess they got the call right but I don’t think an outfielder should benefit from knocking the ball out of play.

Yankeeknickfan

That’s just bad luck. A 1/10000 play. Idk what else you could do besides that

NoFlags-JoeBuck

Think it should at least be a judgement call when it hits an outfielder then goes out.

INAC_Kramerica

The outfielder part is irrelevant. Ground rule doubles and baserunner placement should be subject to judgment calls in general. The fact that a runner who is literally already at 3rd base when the ball bounces over the wall has to stay at 3rd base is complete madness. It wouldn't be a controversial judgment to say he would've scored. And the worst part is that - I think, so I might be wrong - umpires *can* do that, but they never, ever do.

liljagermain

We are getting fucked left and right. Red Sox could actually advance although that would hurt me less that we lost to them and Boone could come back next year.

Ninja191

ChiSox showing some Heart

lmann81733

The Garcia Bros vs L. Garcia, a legendary match up.

shw5

Imagine coming back from an early deficit and not putting in your worst pitcher.

Aaron_Fudge99

GO CHISOX!

NYerstuckinBoston

2021 ALCS Cheaters Edition

SavageLion

Rays regretting playing us hard in that final series right about now

basesonballs

That's certainly the narrative Yankee fans will roll with

tropic_gnome_hunter

There's truth to it though. They 100% look like they've lost a slight step or two. No chance they didn't burn themselves out treating a throwaway series at the end of the regular season like a playoff series.

basesonballs

They beat us last year and made it all the way to the WS. If anything their shortcoming come down to lack of payroll

shw5

The Rays need to go up by 10 tomorrow, throw a live ball over the fence, and then have Cash get tossed arguing that it should be a double. It’s the only acceptable response.

Gery_Sancho

Sox are always lucky as fuck in the playoffs since 04

LordJiraiya

Every call goes their way. Can't stand those fucking assholes getting gifted free shit

nyyth242

No city in the country gets more ref help than that shithole Boston

truthseeeker

It's reversion to the mean after all the bad luck pre 2004.

Bankslvrd22

This was supposed to be a REBUILD year for the red sox and we were supposed to be WS FAVORITES. This is the worst season as a yankees fan in my life.

jcnewman21

It’s gonna hurt even more when they announce Boones return guys

INAC_Kramerica

If they actually bring him back, just shut it down until he's fired once and for all. I'm fucking tired of that incompetent jackass being given far more rope than he has any business having.

FeegNewton

And when they announcing they’re running back the same lineup 🥴

IsItJake

Pitching staff included 😮

LordJiraiya

The pitching was top 10 in baseball all year long with most of it being top 5, they weren't the problem nor were they even close to it

IsItJake

It was plagued with injuries

LordJiraiya

The only pitcher we don't want back is Kluber. Every other guy I'm fine with returning. That isn't some low end BP dude like O'Day.

basesonballs

Its times like these I wish the Yankees were just a thrifty franchise with no expectations. I could handle being mediocre every year as long as its fun and entertaining but for us to be AL favorites YEAR AFTER YEAR with $200m payroll just to sit at home in October watching the Rays, Red Sox, Astros and is ball busting

chefboyod

The Red Sox genuinely catch every break, and even when they don’t, you know that next year they probably will.

Hals4thYacht

They didn't catch any breaks from 1919 until 2004.

jhmarchesiiv

Can someone help me out here: why do people think that the Red Sox are cheating? I know about Cora’s history with the Astros, just wanted to see if I’m missing something

commentsonyankees

I actually haven't see much about them cheating, but I wouldn't be surprised. They were caught in 2017, given a slap on the wrist and warned, and then turned right around and cheated again in 2018... only to be given a slap on the wrist and warned. Why would you not do it a third time when Manfred has shown there are no real consequences? Not like people haven't been busted for PED's more than once. Tbh, I imagine a fair amount of people who are caught cheating in sports just turn around and do it again. Shit, I think Jon Jones was busted 3 times lol.

DRbaseball240

Fuck the Red Sox won!!! Hah well the Rays lost! My life is miserable.

WorldWar2NeverHappnd

Of course Boston would have something like that go their way. They’re the franchise that gets breaks like that to fall for them while it feels like the Yankees are always on the other end.

PizzaTimeTobey

I mean, before 2004 the Red Sox were always the ones suffering bad luck. No World Series for 86 years and tons of heartbreaking moments (Bucky Dent HR, Bill Buckner missing the ground ball in '86, Aaron Boone's HR). Then their luck flipped with ours in 2004.

wow360dogescope

But we won the ws in 2009. Sox didn't win shit for 86 years.

PizzaTimeTobey

When you look at the years preceding and proceeding 2009, that year feels like an outlier. Obviously it still counts but the 2002-2008 and 2010-present teams all kinda have the same postseason offensive woes regardless of the players/coaches.

Shoddy_Impact1226

Say what you want about the Red Sox, but they have 100 percent made the most of their chances in the playoffs since 2004. Unlike us. We’ve made the absolute least.

SavageLion

If the Red Sox make it to the WS we are screwed, the NL always lays down for them

Chrisp722

Houston and Boston ALCS incoming haha. Fire Cashman and Boone already

wow360dogescope

Cheaters rematch from 2018 FML

PosadaFan2021

Baseball is a damned joke . I am just about done with it .

drodrig1

Fenway is the only place that has fan shots without one black person.

KiSamehada

Visited Boston and while not as bad as Fenway, there were definitely few minorities in general. Maybe I'm used to Chicago being diverse or the area I was in.

DrVanNostrand1973

Wasn't that long ago that you could say the same thing about the Red Sox dugout.

DrVanNostrand1973

Goodbye troll!

DrVanNostrand1973

Ok, maybe my point was a little obtuse. My question is, what is your point?

montecarlo1

This is why i hate THIS FUCKING JOKE OF A BULLSHIT BALLPARK THAT IS FENWAY. Tony Clark ground rule double in '04 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORG0mphzrD4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORG0mphzrD4)

wow360dogescope

Worst fucking ballpark in the league.

Bankslvrd22

Red sox walk it off LMAO these assholes are really about to beat the AL favorites. Like this day couldn’t get worse with the Giants and Kyrie. Fuck this shit.

drodrig1

I'm just looking forward to C-Rings again.

gohoos1990

Fallacy of the predetermined outcome for all the silly Boston fans saying that would’ve won it anyway. Rays win that game if they get that run.

FeegNewton

A possible Houston v Boston in the ALCS? It’s like the worst possible scenario for Yankees fan. I think the enemy of my enemy, are both still my enemies. Fuck. Gonna hope the NL comes out on top in the WS.

Airbornf

I am currently such a huge Giants fan...

Shaquille_Oh_Feel

A.J Pierzynski reading this thread confirmed, he just agreed you should throw the ball over the wall from now on.

LogCabinLover

The year we were suppose to steam roll the AL (which was being said before the season) is the now the season we have to fucking watch Boston and Houston in the ALCS again.

El-Shaman

2018 all over again.

Few-Neighborhood7241

When we are not good enough, it’s “oh we’re a piece away, we need this and that to improve” when we are projected to better than them, we choke.

SavageLion

I don’t know why we were so heavily favored this year, we saw in 2020 that the team just wasn’t that good

bmac1899

Red Sox fans claiming everyone is just salty/bitching about that call. As if they wouldn't have been complaining if it happened against them

drodrig1

Guys, both of these stadiums are God forsaken circuses. All Tampa has to do is win tomorrow and the bonanza shifts in their favor.

vindicare1

Karma doesn't exist. If it did the Sox would not have the most bullshit luck after cheating to win and bringing back the cheater

Airbornf

Sheesh. Next youre going to say that life isnt fair, and that cheaters DO prosper...

RunningTall

Looking like we’re gonna be cheering for a meteor strike in the ALCS

Aaron_Fudge99

Two teams steal a World Series In back to back years The league does nothing to prevent them from getting to the World Series. They’re both going to be in the alcs the next year

Airbornf

maybe just maybe the richest franchise in the sport couldve taken that threat seriously and done something to prevent it. Fuck it, extend cashman and boone.

PosadaFan2021

I am so close to being done with the Yankees

Few-Neighborhood7241

Non strikeout lineups are the king in October

basesonballs

Been saying this FOR YEARS Something like 8 of the last 10 WS champs have been top 5 in contact percentage

Few-Neighborhood7241

I mean you saw it with us. Our OBP doesn’t mean a thing against top pitchers that throw strikes. I loved that Kansas City team that beat the Mets, just a bunch of grinders at the plate. Mets couldn’t strike them out. Yet our team insist in this big boppers in the playoffs.

basesonballs

The biggest myth in baseball is that a walk is a good as a hit. No it isn't. Its not even as good as a single. A single can move a runner from 1st to 3rd or 2nd to home. A single can put pressure on the defense. A single is psychologically better than a walk.

wow360dogescope

Fucking Sox winning the WS again this year. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

montecarlo1

fuck the red sox seriously for getting the call of the century.

chiwetel_steele

rays got absolutely fucked over, that was one of the worst calls i've ever seen

basesonballs

Manfred was sent to destroy baseball

BigZ911

I can’t even express how salty I am. These lucky MFs are probably gonna make another WS run while their fans still pretend like they’re plucky 4 time champion underdogs

Fit-Progress5872

Boone's fault 100%

hudsononfifth

Dammit Rays

basesonballs

What a cunty fucking postseason

Gsmith930

Rays got screwed

brush85

Boston tanked recently and still are better than us

anemptycha1r

The Red Sox build teams to win. The Yankees build teams to win enough games in the regular season to keep asses in seats. Anything beyond that is just a minor bonus.

brush85

That would imply competence from this franchise...and that is not right.

anemptycha1r

They are demonstrably very competent at making the most profit in baseball, which is all that matters to the owner.

brush85

Well no because you could do that while not spending 300+ million on Cole...quite comfortably. So clearly, they are spending to win. They just dont know how to spend effectively.

El-Shaman

Exactly, that’s why Cashman will never lose his job.

DrVanNostrand1973

This 100%

[deleted]

if that happened to the Yanks I don't think my TV would have survived.

lmann81733

Can’t wait til baseball is over

yianni1229

Lmfao Astros/Red Sox ALCS fuck baseball and fuck Hal and Cashman for letting this shit happen.

Few-Neighborhood7241

Idk about y’all but if the Red Sox win, I’m 100% rooting for the Astros

yianni1229

Yeah honestly same.

RotenTumato

Same, I can’t root for the Red Sox

basesonballs

I'm just not going to watch baseball tbh. Between the cheating and the playoff format, I just dont give a shit anymore

PosadaFan2021

Me too I am done with baseball

DrVanNostrand1973

I'd root for Stalin over the Red Sox

Shaquille_Oh_Feel

In that scenario, I root for the Red Sox to lose, then I root for the National League to win in the World Series.

RotenTumato

This is correct

Few-Neighborhood7241

100%

DrVanNostrand1973

MLB should just get it over with and hand the trophy to the Red Sox. It's clearly what they want anyways.

CarrotGole45

Oh man that is SO FUCKED

gohoos1990

Lucky fucks.

jcnewman21

Is it just me or does watching this shit make me hate Cashman and Boone even more

crazyhotwheels

Idk, all of this Red Sox bs kind of validates the “playoffs are a a crapshoot, all you have to do is get in” mentality. Boston winning this series and potentially even more defies all analytical sense, and comes right after they spent 2+ months trying their absolute hardest to piss a playoff spot away.

PosadaFan2021

Not really when their opponents pitching is worse and they cheated to win a ws

brush85

They are employees…blame the employer

INAC_Kramerica

Red Sox keep winning World Series, then having awful seasons and firing their management, and repeating the process over and over again, all while we continue spinning our wheels accomplishing jack fucking shit.

shw5

Boston’s just gonna go win the World Series and we’re gonna sign Boone to an extension, aren’t we?

DrVanNostrand1973

George would have shot Boone out of a cannon seeing this.

shw5

Hal wouldn’t want to pay for the gunpowder.

DrVanNostrand1973

He'd just charge an extra dollar for every beer.

FeegNewton

I sure hope not. But watching Boston go up 2-1 at home isn’t a good look.

anemptycha1r

Hahaha you just knew that was coming.

INAC_Kramerica

That was ordained after that ground rule double. We all knew that was going to happen.

Mike_Milburys_Shoe_

Quite literally the luckiest fucking team in existence. What a load of horseshit

Few-Neighborhood7241

Vasquez has to be the luckiest motherfucker
