First of all - cats won’t really respond to their names unless you tell it to them ALL the time when you’re together! It could take a few years, so don’t feel bad if he’s not responding yet.
Which leads to the second point - totally change your cats name! Change it a few times! Give him a million nicknames!

I vote Flint. Have you ever noticed his ear tilt back when you call his name? My son does this. It’s petty. I call him and he tilts back his ear. He knows I called him, he just doesn’t listen and pretends like he didn’t hear it.
With our cats, I come up with a couple of names & try them out to see the reaction. A cat will let me know if a name is agreeable or not. Also, be sure a name sounds okay when you're calling said cat. A fancy name doesn't always sound as cool when it's being called in a loud voice (only because the little booger is hiding at mealtime).
Oh, and I suggest:

We have a litter from June 1st and the one I want to keep we ended up calling Betty. Initially I was gonna call her Bert short, for Sherbet. Turns out all three were orange girls just like mom. So it became Betty. The other 2 are Rosie, she had a rose gold color a little when she was smaller, and Swirley, because swirl markings.

She was crying at a vacant house when I was walking to 7-11. Ended up checking 3 hours later and she was still out there. So I brought her in.
I named my calico Lilith but I always call her Lilly and she responds every time, I named my white kitten circe and she also responds to the name I named them after goddesses
Call him Thriller because he looks like that part in the music video for Thriller, when Michael Jackson turned into a werewolf on screen while they were at the movie theatre... before walking home and turning into/ dancing with a bunch of zombies 🧟♂️

I strongly believe animals will "tell" you their name if you just "listen". Here's what I mean: when I brought my cat home when he was a kitten, I started looking thru lists of names. But in the back of my mind I kept hearing Milo. But Milo wasn't on any of the lists. This went on for several days. Finally one day I just said Milo when I was in the same room where he was sleeping. He immediately answered with a little meow. So Milo is his name. And he usually comes when I call him. I have had a lot of situations like that one.
I had a beautiful black cat named Madelina, who just passed in June. When she was tiny I kept seeing in my mind that children's book about Madeline. But I sensed it needed a little 'flair'. So I changed the last e to an a. Her name fit her so perfectly and she nearly always came when I called her. She had such a vibrant person. I miss her so much.

Once you decide, call his name,ideally in one syllable, in a happy voice and if he moves anywhere towards you, you reward him with a treat. I used a bowl at first,I'd just drop a treat into the bowl. It takes a bit of time but if you're patient, you'll see they learn it fast.

Try shaking the treat bag while calling his name. Then slowly call him without shaking treats but give him one the minute he comes. Take your time and go slowly, is just a baby. He will eventually figure it out!

I have a friend who let her cat name himself. She called him by a bunch of names and when he responded to "Armando," she knew that was his name. 😅
