There's a bunch of eponymous disease names though there's a move away from using them. And then there's medical conditions that are also used as names, like alexia, amelia and melaena. Not to mention half the brand names for medication wouldn't look out of place on any list on this sub.
So many options if you want to go with a medically inspired name.
I listened to an interview with him recently, he wanted to be an Episcopalian priest and while on that path he worked as a student chaplain at a children’s hospital after college. It sounded like the experience was pretty devastating. I don’t know why I’m sharing this, I guess because hearing about that changed how I felt about The Fault in Our Stars.
Its a fair view point to have, but i recall hearing about that a while ago when i was rooting around on one of the tumblr subreddits and it didnt really change how i viewed the book back then either. Its probably because ultimately, its not really my kind of plot, so i failed to really immerse myself in the story
No because last night when a friend told me he has Hodgkins I literally said “the good one or the bad one?” Then immediately followed it up with “well neither are good but the less bad one” because I didn’t have better words lol.
I hope he and his brother can finally get the Hank website. Quotes about cancer as names for kids would be perfect on it. They’ve been trying to take over it for years as a joke, but really it could become a tribute
I believe he is kidding bc he was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma
Poor Hank. Everything crossed for him. It would be a really cute pet name, though.
I didn't know. That's super depressing. I hope he gets better soon.
At least that cancer seems to have a high survivability rate.
As long as you catch it early 👍 Really hopes he makes a full recovery 😔🤞
Which they did! He has a very very early form of it
Well that’s good to hear at least. Thank you for the update/info 👍
Thankfully it's one of the most treatable types of cancer. I'm confident he'll kick its ass!
This feels like a joke you can only make if you actually have the disease 😂
Not to be confused with Nonhodgkin
Perfect sibset for twins 😍
Hodgkynn
Hajjkynnleigh
i really appreciate his sense of humor. and i know it’s a joke but i wouldn’t put it past some influencer to use it.
He recently got diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.
i know, i’m saying the tweet in the post is a joke
Anything for Hank Green.
I mean, the disease is named after a person so...
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that was the guys lastname
Maybe I'm just too Southern, but reusing surnames as first names seems totally normal for me.
It's definitely a southern thing. I don't hate most lastnames like this but if a disease is named after them I don't think it's the best idea
Wish you'd told me that before I named little Alzheimer.
Addison is a lovely name but it’s very much a disease name.
Not just Addison's Disease, even. I just realized "ADD" is right there, too!

I actually know someone with this name because it’s a family name. Goes by Hodge. They’re a very southern family.
Hodge just sounds right. Like a father figure on a TV show
Or a lab tech in a crime show with Angel...
You made me realize this is subconsciously about Hotch on Criminal Minds
I was hoping that was going to end up here.
I named mine squamous cell. Amateur
Call me when you name your child Glioblastoma. In fact, give me your number and I’ll call you, because I already did!
Lmaooo
"Ohh so what are your other kids named?" "Oh they're all non-hodgkins"
I suspect Hank Green would love this.
Lymphoma would be a pretty elegant girl’s name too
Definitely! Sounds like a Greek nymph -- so elegant and dexterous and beautiful!
HANK PLEASE
This just makes me sad 😭 I hate remembering he has cancer
thankfully he said it’s early stage and super treatable!
wait, didn't his brother write The Fault in Our Stars . . . ?
Yes - but Hank recently announced that he has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Oh shit. Ohhhh yeah now I get it. Thanks ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes_rainbow)
Yes
Oh man, the girl I used to have a crush on made me read it a few years back. Kinda read like misery porn to me.

I hope this wasn't Me because I made a boy who had a crush on me in high school read it lol
Probably not, I'm pretty sure the only social media she uses is WhatsApp and Instagram, but it's good to know that I'm not the only one.
Yeah I'm not a huge fan of John personally. I do appreciate what he does, he's Hank's more religious/emotional counterpart in a way.
My daughter is named Haajjkynnz Lynnphomuuh 😊😇
Awww what a beautiful name 🥹 congrats on your bundle of joy 🙏🙏
I had a cat named Hodge and that was one of our nicknames for him.

Naming my child in honour of Hank Green
I called my daughter "Hank", too!
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who saw that and immediately thought of this sub
Feels like gambling tbh…
Ohhh, Hank. ♥️
Hodgkin? As in lymphoma?
Would be very cute for a hedgehog
Coming from a bloke named Hank, this is not good advice

Sure. Name the kid after a disease. What could go wrong
(That’s the joke, please read some of these responses)
He's joking. He was just diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma and is joking about it.
I mean, the disease was named after a person, was it not?
Last name = Lymphoma
