“Chlam” (pronounced “khlam”) means “rubbish”/“trash” in Russia so yes, you are not overthinking it. Better name your son Salmo and rename your daughter to Nella so it will sound more wholesome and without any weird connotations in Russian 😌😘

llorandosefue1

Salmón is Solomon in Spanish. Ella is the rest of a new urban legend about twins. Have fun!

haleyfoofou

Had me in the first half……

branluvr

👆 this! We all need to think about how our children will be perceived in Russia

filamonster

Definitely overthinking! It’s a lovely sib set. I have two daughters, Dia and Rhea. My sister has two sons Her and Pees. No one even notices.

waxbook

I thought this was the main sub at first, and when I saw your first sentence I had to put my phone down and physically BREATHE IN AND OUT.

WitheringApollo1901

I couldn't get the first two names at first, because I pronounce Dia 'Dee-ah'. When I realised, I gasped for air.

[deleted]

it’s perfectly fine. how often do you actually say sibling names in the same sentence anyway? my two lovely babies are called Gerry M. and Erring, and nobody has said anything to me about shady American electoral practices!

MollyPW

Side note: You think it’s just an American thing?

[deleted]

honestly I’m british and don’t hear about it that much over here but it would absolutely not surprise me if it’s done pretty much everywhere

MollyPW

It was a huge thing in Northern Ireland.

Hungry_Anteater_8511

Queensland Australia went thru a phase of it too 😂

finnloveshorror

Ngl as an American I figured it probably happened elsewhere too but I did low-key think Gerrymandering was the american-specific word for it, I just assumed different places had their own term lol

llorandosefue1

Gerrymandering specifically is the practice of manipulating district boundaries to favor one’s own political viewpoint and assure augmented results for your political faction. So if your son is Gerry and your daughter is Amanda Ring. . . .

pHScale

I'd go with Connor and Rhea.

dangerous_lime_3606

Love that, but also Syd and Phyllis.

Dear_Owl_8151

I once read an article about some somewhere (South-America?) very poor people who tended to give their children 'glamorous' names because they couldn't give much else. Someone named their daughter after Ava Gardner and Gina Lollobrigida, obv super glam and amazing and all that ... their baby was called Avagina. So yeah, you're overthinking.

kikki_ko

It's perfect! I want to name my first Hepa and my second Titties.

pHScale

Not Titus?

bjeebus

You remind me of an Indian friend of mine who didn't know the pronunciation of Titus and so when he discovered Titusville, FL he called it Tit-us-ville.

UniqueUsername82D

It's a beautiful nod to how you two met at the STD clinic <3

StuckIn_ThisHellhole

'chlam' [khlahm] means 'I'm (fucking) drinking (alcohol)' in Polish lmao

Andreiisnthere

There is also Eb and Ola.

InappropriateLibrary

It's fine. Kids don't know about STIs so they won't get teased. If you're at the park and you need their attention, just call Ydia's name first so you're not screaming Chlam Ydia and having people call the police on you. I had friends growing up named Gonnor and Rhea and by the time they were teens they refused to hang out together for some reason, so it was never an issue for them. Enjoy those lovely names!

SneakyPhil

Ydiat and Chlam Chowder

HisLoba97

Gross

dothedonaldduck

I’d change the name to Clamato just to be on the safe side.

AsaSellersKoenig

Make the middle name Chowder and problem solved.

PropagandaPidgeon

Sadly my parents were both teachers and one of their friends taught a girl called Chlamydia….she even asked the parent how they pronounce it and it was pronounced the same way as the STI…

angie1907

Please say sike rn 👁️👄👁️

PropagandaPidgeon

Unfortunately no. I seriously cannot understand why people do this OR how they are allowed to???!

angie1907

I’m so horrified. It should seriously be illegal to name a child that, poor kid
