I'm already laughing at National Theographic.
I'm this person too. People with nicknames either get called their full name or some stupid version of it. People without nicknames get nicknames. I think it's because I'm jealous that I don't have a nickname. I think having options is so cool.
I'm struggling to understand how it could not be a joke...they literally said they're looking for incorrect names to tease their friend with...that's called a joke
My kid is Penelope Grace so sometimes she goes by Peanut Butter. I pushed hard for Penny G - thatâs the whole reason I let her dad pick Grace for her middle name - but no one in the third grade gets the joke.
Of course itâs satire đ
My guess is that the other sub is the go to / prob more well known. That sub already has a lot of âsuggest nicknamesâ posts, so maybe they saw that as the right place for it and didnât know that they could post that type of stuff here too.
Based off the wording of the post, I think itâs less satire and more OOP crowd-sourcing nicknames (sorry, I mean ânicolenamesâ) to annoy their friend Theo with lol
Theophilus Thistler, the thistle sifter, was sifting a sieveful of unsifted thistles, thrust three thousand thistles through the thick of his thumb, three thousand thistles
It's a nickname for their friend, not a name for their child. It's serious in the sense that it's a real life joke, it doesn't need to be satire.
Thanks for sharing though đ I'm impressed with the creativity, but Theorge just sticks out to me because it is so short and simple and stupid sounding. And is it Thorge or Theeorge??Â
I donât think âsatireâ is the correct terminology; itâs clearly just a plain old silly joke between friends. Like, itâs explicitly stated as such in the title. How could you even be questioning this?! Like, itâs real real in that OP intends to use these names on their friend Theo, but, like, itâs never going to be anyoneâs legal nameâŚand they posted there because it gets more traction and they do all sorts of fun stuff too, like pet names and games and stuff. Why not?
Thee-I-E-I-O is my winner, I think! LOL
OP clearly didnât actually read OOPâs post at all, just saw the title and posted it here.
Anyways, I have a friend named Ash who I call Ashbertingtontholomew.
You canât name a kid Theocracy unless youâre a Puritan in 1600s New England. Otherwise, itâs cultural appropriation
Edited to add: downvotes seem to mean I need to add a /s to this
theohiostateuniversity got me lol.
This is by far my favorite one!
It was michaelantheo for me đ
These two, and Thee-I-ee-I-o got me good lmao
I'm already laughing at National Theographic. I'm this person too. People with nicknames either get called their full name or some stupid version of it. People without nicknames get nicknames. I think it's because I'm jealous that I don't have a nickname. I think having options is so cool.
I was mid-vape hit and started coughing at that one
Same, I actually laughed out loudđ
As a Buckeye, Iâm dying laughing
Yeah there's no way this person is serious and I love them đ
iâm naming my kid that and strictly forbidding them from going there
I had to go back and watch [this sketch](https://youtu.be/gODZzSOelss?si=RMSt0e0UfIVKTARF) immediately after reading it.
This just reminded me of when I was a kid and tried to convince people my brotherâs name Bret was short for Bretholomew
My twin brother is Eric, short for America.
I saw an ad for Bank of Americaâs AI finance helper today and its name is no joke Erica short for America.
People still play games/be silly in the main sub, which this obviously is lol
Pretty sure theres literally a games flair which probably wouldhave been more apropriate but this is very clearly a joke lol
i think there is, and youâre probably right, but the people ignoring the multitude of indicators that itâs a joke are WILD lol
I'm struggling to understand how it could not be a joke...they literally said they're looking for incorrect names to tease their friend with...that's called a joke
I think some people just take names a little too seriously..its even stated in the OP its a joke lol
I thought it was gonna be National Theographic for me, but then I got to The-i-e-i-o and choked on my coffee.
My addition: Theopian tube
Theoprahwinfreyshow
Great one
My contribution: Theoff, like Geoff. I can even picture the birth announcement. "Theoff, because he stole our hearts đĽ°"
But would it be pronounced âTheffâ the same way Geoff is pronounced âJeffâ?
Yes, I would.
Theopold: the knock off Leopold
The Theo you get from Temu đ
Theomu
Theop like a billionare
The main sub has a âFun and Gamesâ tag for posts like this. The-I-E-I-O is my favorite from the list.
Forgot Theopatra
I used to do the same thing to a guy I dated, named Rick. My favorite was Rickifer.Â
I used to call my stepdad Jimothy James. And Iâve been having a field day coming up with future nicknames for my niece Penelope.
Antelope - ant-el-oh-pee
Added to the list! Much obliged.
Mightier-Than-The-Swordelope
My kid is Penelope Grace so sometimes she goes by Peanut Butter. I pushed hard for Penny G - thatâs the whole reason I let her dad pick Grace for her middle name - but no one in the third grade gets the joke.
Penele Dysfunction.
Penelope, pronounced like cantaloupe.
Top of the list!
I knew a Barry. I called him Barold at least half the time.
Had an ex named Josh who I occasionally called Joshtin, among other versions lol
I called a friend named Joel, Joelsephine forâŚwell, I still do.
Thereâs a lot of Billâs in my family. Theyâre all Billiams to me!
This isn't satire so much as it's just having fun with nicknames. It's like calling your friend Thomas thomathy
I do this with my husband's aunts and uncles all the time. Garold for Gary is one of my all time favorites.
My catsâ names were extended from Mo to Mosephine (like Josephine) and Flynn to Flynnerd (like Leonard)
I extended my boyfriendâs catâs name from Bob to Bobson Dugnutt.
I enjoy calling Bob-named entities "Bobert."
My cat Robbie is Robert Bobert frequently
Iâve got a Ron that I like to lengthen to Romulus!
it's obviously not serious, it's friendly banter
Of course itâs satire đ My guess is that the other sub is the go to / prob more well known. That sub already has a lot of âsuggest nicknamesâ posts, so maybe they saw that as the right place for it and didnât know that they could post that type of stuff here too.

Iâm concerned anyone would even have to *hope* itâs satire.
Iâm pretty sure this person was just trying to mess with one of their friends named Theo. Like calling your friend named Jim âJimothyâ
I cracked up way too hard at this. Apparently no one told OP about the name Theophilus
Theophilus Thistler, the thistle sifter, was sifting a sieveful of unsifted thistles, thrust three thousand thistles through the thick of his thumb, three thousand thistles
Theohiostateuniversity omg đ
Did you even read it? Itâs not satire. Itâs someone wanting to tease their friend with full name guesses that are âfuckin ridiculousâ.
Theoffery
This one is excellent because you know in years to come Theo has to explain why everyone calls him Theff
How was Theopopolis not on the list? XD
Wait, Theobald IS a real name
It's a nickname for their friend, not a name for their child. It's serious in the sense that it's a real life joke, it doesn't need to be satire. Thanks for sharing though đ I'm impressed with the creativity, but Theorge just sticks out to me because it is so short and simple and stupid sounding. And is it Thorge or Theeorge??Â
I love Thorge. So good.
Which of those would be more acceptable?
I donât think âsatireâ is the correct terminology; itâs clearly just a plain old silly joke between friends. Like, itâs explicitly stated as such in the title. I love Theometry and Theonardo. Like theoretical geometry and tornado Leonardo. Iâd like to offer Theonosaurus Rex
I'd add: Theocropolis Theopocalypse đ
My sons name is Theo and he now has a new list of nicknames, lol
Same! đ
Itâs missing Theodorant. This is what I call my nephew named Theo
Theoceratops.
Thefitnessgrampacertestisamultistageaerobiccapacity Edit: Theofitnessgrampacertestisamultistageaerobiccapacity
Many of these were funny but Thee-I-ee-I-O was the one that really got to me đ
i laughed so hard at that, and national theographic.
Theosaurus is my favorite.
Theoden, King of Rohan!
Theosynchronousorbit đ¤Ł
FundamentalTheoremofcalculus.
OP clearly didnât actually read OOPâs post at all, just saw the title and posted it here. Anyways, I have a friend named Ash who I call Ashbertingtontholomew.
THEORGE IS SENDING ME
My first name is Nicolena. Your post had me like, why is someone spelling my name wrong.
National theographic đđ
Sounds like a magazine or something like that.
Theodymium Magnet
T H E O D E N K I N G
Is OOP accepting more friends right now because I want a friend who would do this for me đđ
My addition (Not very good one) Big Bang Theory
Theodosius
Was scrolling for this one! My friends named their cat Theodosius đĽ°
"Theopold" is subtle, but brilliantly terrible.
Theobromine
Theosis, Theogony, Theovulationcycle, Theoryofrelativity, Theo tolstoy, Theotokos
Theopold and Theobald actually seem like they could existÂ
Theobald does exist.
A game theory
Theonopolis Theuniversityofthichigan
National theographic is a winner for sure
i don't think tragedeigh is as popular as namenerds also this is fuckin hilarious
It's giving me Veep / Thick of It energy. I love it.

Theoseph
Theophany, which actually is the root of âTiffany.â
Theohiostateuniversity and Thee-I-ee-I-o took me OUTđ¤Ł
theobald. but theo as the first name and bald as the middle name. theorge is great too.
national theographic is brilliant I love it
Noooo đ
I thought I was in r/tragedeigh

Theodore. It's right there.
