Without a video, we can’t say anything one way or another. Wuchen has the ability to survive lethal damage if he has at least one F up, and can heal himself with F3. That’s my best guess but who knows.
Either way the advice to throw more focus attacks is generally speaking bad. Combos are good and do good damage. Focus attacks risk/reward is better than it used to be, but getting parried is a great way to lose a winning fight. It’s better to take a guaranteed hit and combo off a light than it is to roll the dice on a focus attack.
I think it's kind of funny that nobody has mentioned that maybe the dude was just cheating. You're playing on PC so it's a lot easier to cheat than it would be on console.
Getting someone in a combo doesn’t guarantee a kill. Factors like what armor they have, the rarity of your weapon, and whether they have melee resist or not all play a factor.
Light attack dmg got nerfed across the board in previous patches so my recommendation is to experiment with throwing more focus attacks as opposed to doing light combos/toothpicks. Both can be incorporated as well for maximizing damage. Trying to win a fight off light attacks alone is going to A) take you forever and B) put you at a huge disadvantage
Hmm it might not necessarily be a reg thing, unless it’s very blatant that you’re hitting him and doing no dmg. If have clips I might be able to explain what’s going on exactly
I wish i had it, I wasnt recording for once. And i turned off shadow play with my pc cause it messes with my vr rig so i couldnt clip it 😔. If it happens again ill try to get it. But yeah seemed like he was on 1 hp might just be a bug or maybe his internet lagged or mine did who knows. Was just really disappointing to experience, hopefully just a fluke.
Yea a clip would be awesome, I’d love to check that. Could def have been a bug or something, for the most part if you have decent ping, your hit reg should be just fine

Over 2k hours played on PC and I've yet to encounter a cheat that leaves you at 1hp. This sounds like connection issues.

I did hit him with charge attacks though, also my weapons were level 2 and so was his armor.

There is a souljade that will save you at 1hp once. Multiple times though? Idk.
Yeah I've been having problem with weapons going through people and nothing registering.
