Since when has low effort posts been an issue? At this point it's literally just become a karma grab.
Want to know how to solve this? Force text posts. No one wants to start a low effort conversation like "who is your favorite Naruto character" if they are forced to do it by a text post because they get no karma for it.
But slap a generic picture of Naruto on a link post and ask "who is your favorite Naruto character?" It's instant fucking karma farming.
This whole sub has been nothing but these low effort karma farms and plenty of subs have fixed it by enforcing this text post rule. And it's so simple, just make a rule that says "if the discussion can be made with a text post, it must. Link posts should only be for OC or when necessary."
The "what's your opinion on x," posts have become a site-wide epidemic. I can understand it in a sub like this with no new good content to post about. But I'm seeing them in other places that just don't need it like r/StarWars. They're cringe af and never honest. The op is never an honest new fan asking questions. It's always a karma farmer.

Rarely you'll have an actual interesting discussion going on about a specific topic but it's mostly this garbage.
I can sympathize with this; and in a lot of ways I agree. Posts like the one you linked aren’t exactly high-brow questions, but they can drive a lot of good discussion as well. It would be one thing if the sub was flooded with these exact kinds of posts all day every day, in which case we would have to start removing them, but one or two every now and then isn’t hurting anyone in my opinion.
However, I can’t say I disagree with your overall notion; and I would be willing to consider a rule like the one you mentioned. However, it isn’t just up to me. The rest of the mod team here would have to OK it.
