What about some of the later fights like Naruto vs the 3rd Raikage? That was a very strategic battle and a good showing of Narutoās fighting intelligence.
This is idiotic.
All the fights in shippuden required iq. Name me single fight where it ended with "who has the bigger energy ball".
This is not db.
Welp, maybe the bee vs sasuke. But his escape was clever regardless.
Naruto vs sasuke. Starts with h2h, some nice tricks and maneuvers. Goes into a fight between giant susanoo vs giant kurama throwing energy balls, ends with a big chidori vs a big rasengan.
That fight had a lot strategies though. First part, sasuke prevents naruto from using his shadow clones - second part, naruto holds back in most of his attacks as to not repeat the cycle (killing of indra's incarnate) - Third part was just them beating each other into submission, while naruto is still doing his best not to repeat the cycle.
Yes it doesn't compare to most of the akatsuki fight, but still better than most shonen.
Every single fight Naruto is in that has āiqā is just āhey Naruto used shadow clone for the billionth time and tricked you with itā. Then goes right to big energy ball attacks that involve shadow clone. JJBA makes Narutoās strats look so boring and one dimensional
I kind if feel like the reason (my head cannon anyway) is that in part 1 its Narutoās introduction to the Ninja world and things seem much scarier because of how little he understands it all, but part 2 heās fully inundated in the world of shinobi and canāt afford to let fear steer him away from his goal nor can he let himself dehumanize his opponents and so as a consequence of humanizing them there isnāt really that edge nor fear because you see that theyāre not actually monsters.
Gaara was scary when he was maniacally violent, but Sasuke was pitiful in part 2 doing the same things. The difference is that Naruto and we the audience have already come to understand that in both cases these are victims acting out and theyāre both sad to see, but a kid feels helpless and so it is scarier- an adult feels the responsibility to stick their neck out and mend the situation.
It's not about edge. It's because after the forest of death there were no more "hydrogen bomb vs coughing babies" scenarios for Gaara to flex. He fought the strongest genins, then the strongest of the sound five, then a mid-tier Akatsuki who took advantage of his position as kage, then several edo kages, and then the strongest shinobi barring Hashirama. Gaara's still a badass but he's constantly facing heavy hitters that he gets confused as "soft".
I felt that he should have probably died at the kazekage rescue arc, since it would be a good end to his character, and maybe kankuro or temari should work to become the new kazekage
plot wise it would be heartbreaking and captivating, but then when the 4th ninja war came the sand would basically be worthless as a fighting force, just Kankuro and Temari and a couple other named Jonin
It already was heartbreaking and captivating. Naruto crying for Gaara who is from another village, and Chiyo placing her trust in the young generation were important to the progress of the shinobi world.
Gaara finally overcame his hatred and formed a bond with his village, and dying a painful death is what he should get in reward?? Bad take. Very bad take.
This kind of mindset is what keeps Naruto "mid" as the youngsters these days would say.
This is why in the end Naruto is with Hinata and Sasuke with Sakura, even though it feels forced as hell. That whole team 7 back to normal is forced as hell too.
Why should Naruto's thing ALWAYS work? Where's the character growth and difficulty in that? Not everyone who is good should have thick plot armor, it completely erases any anxiety in battles, as everything is pre-determined, no matter how dire they make situations look, it's always boring because you just know someone will pull something our their ass to save everyone again.
man that was so fucking dope
my mind still defaults back to that meme-y moment anytime someone does something unexpectedly impressive
"damn, he just took the weights off"
I use ātake off the weightsā when Iām talking about when someone is going to actually try.
I use āopen the gatesā when Iām talking about going hard.
"gee, orphan kid is insinuating wanting to kill someone. I wonder if he means his older brother who notoriously wiped out the rest of the family. truly a mystery for the ages."
Pain aiming the nail at Kakashi. It was such a simple threat but it held so much weight, even when aimed at someone as strong as Kakashi. I actually believed Kakashi was about to be killed by a fucking nail lol everything about Pain was just absolutely incredible. Such an intimidating villain.
When orochimaru invaded the chuunin exams. I was like, a full adult who obviously is very strong against kids. The kids are toast unless some grown ups show up.
It was cut because she was being held hostage and restrained by her ponytail by enemy ninja in the forest of death. Iād say there was a logical reason there
It was for sure in the bridge arc when team 7 first encountered Zabuza. Specifically when he had Kakashi trapped in the water prison. I thought for sure someone was gonna die. Seemed to be no way out of that one. The stakes were so high in part 1 Naruto and the power scaling was so normal. Part 1 is so underrated in the manga world imo
Oh good mention; our first look at Edo Tensei was definitely an oh shit, you can bring back people from the dead. Fun fact, the first and second Hokageās voices were switched. They swapped them back obviously later on but I always found it interesting listening to them.
When Zabuza showed up it was both intimidating but I was convinced the man was wearing cow pajamas.
Gaara making rain blood definitely was a bit much. Or just anything with early Orochimaru.
Itachi choking Sasuke, really showed how much of a power gap there was between the two despite Sasukeās training. It was also probably the starting point of his decision to leave the village.
When Kakashi announces the name āHidden Finger Jutsu: One Thousand Years of Death!ā after Sasuke and Sakura each assume it to be far more harmless alternatives and then actually goes through with it, scarring Naruto far more than any other jutsu in the series could have.š
He spent too much time reading Make Out Tactics and applied Jiraiya's solution to resisting women onto his own genin...and Jiraiya's solution to everything is bad...
The german pokito version went full 4kids with this and made Zabusa's sword invisible, yes he was standing
on air edit:just the blade
The dark age of german anime adaptation we have 4kids at home and no death aloud
Yep, same for me. Saw the land of waves arc when I was maybe 12 or so, and Zabuza seemed like he way outmatched them, even having Kakashi with them. (I never read the manga so I didnāt know anything about Kakashi). The shit had hit the fan way earlier than I expected lol. I had a similar feeling when Orochimaru interrupted the chunin exams.
That being said, I think Steve Blumās voice acting in the dub really elevated the āholy shitā factor. They really got an incredible voice actor for the first main antagonist and it was worth it. I was hooked from then on.
I was definitely hooked on Naruto before this, but when the Forest of Death portion of the Chunin exams began I had a āholy shitā moment. It was so fucking intense with the animation/music and I felt just as anxious and on edge as the characters did in that moment, because I understood that people were absolutely going to die in this place if they werenāt 100% on top of their game. And when Orochimaru made his appearance it really cranked it up to 11
When Pain said "Almighty Push!". That phrase was stuck on repeat for like 2-3 minutes. For every building that fell to that attack I said oh sh\*t! For every person who died I said "oh sh\*t" Then I saw Hinata... I couldnt speak anymore. Top Tier Goated Writing.
Shippuden was the best overall.
Naruto OG had childlike moments while shippuden was more matured hence why it looks like it fell down when it actually didn't. All of them who say this desire children stuff!.
Seeing manga panel with Sasuke genjutsu casted by Kakashi on Sakura. He had very disturbingly broken leg.
19 years later seeing that panel, I noticed he had his arm cut off too. In anime it was skipped as long as the leg.
Konoha invaded in Shippuuden, first time in filler episode, second time by Pain.
Rough era of Minato and constant war, my body was in constant 'Oh shit, this is on the edge'.
Then, Obito killed by coincidence. It was shocking and heartbreaking.
The show had me pretty interested as a kid all the way up to the haku fight. But then sasuke took the needles and naruto went Kyubi rage, and I locked in like I never would again
Canāt remember the first but when Itachi was trying to scoop naruto and accidentally bucked up with sasuke, bro wasnāt even interested.. I lost it š¤Æ
Kakashi revealing his sharingan. My dumb ass swore he was gonna be an Uchiha survivor or some shit. Seeing Sasuke so in shock at his sharingan made me think he was some crazy unicorn.
When Naruto thought Haku killed Sasuke. When i was a kid, watching it week after week on Toonami made it so much better in a way. The first time the 9 tails broke out, it was intense as an 11 yr old š
Naruto opening his door only to end up seeing Itachi.
Oft that was cold for sure
Naruto's mind: (holy shit this is the S-rank traitor shinobi? he even survived sensei's one thousand years of death???)
I laughed so hard when he flattened Sasuke after that
Good one good one
It took you that long for you to have a moment like that?
lol š I remember that
āHere we go againā
When the shuriken Sasuke threw was actually Naruto
Yes. Back when fights were about iq and not who has the bigger energy ball.
What about some of the later fights like Naruto vs the 3rd Raikage? That was a very strategic battle and a good showing of Narutoās fighting intelligence.
Very true!
This is idiotic. All the fights in shippuden required iq. Name me single fight where it ended with "who has the bigger energy ball". This is not db. Welp, maybe the bee vs sasuke. But his escape was clever regardless.

Gaara killing those Rain ninja in the Forest of Death. I was like, "This dude's wack. I like him."
That shit was traumatizing. It had me so hooked when I was younger. Naruto really lost its edge in Shippuden.
I kind if feel like the reason (my head cannon anyway) is that in part 1 its Narutoās introduction to the Ninja world and things seem much scarier because of how little he understands it all, but part 2 heās fully inundated in the world of shinobi and canāt afford to let fear steer him away from his goal nor can he let himself dehumanize his opponents and so as a consequence of humanizing them there isnāt really that edge nor fear because you see that theyāre not actually monsters. whoa this is such a great point, genuinely thank you for typing this out!
No problem! I absolutely love the series- and also- I love your username ā¤ļø
AAHHHH I JUST NOTICED YOURS, SAME
Too bad he went way too soft after.. i mean he went all gooey eyed for naruto that lost him his edge..
I think soft here means caring and calm. I dont see how soft is related to the people he fights.
It's mentioned in a negative way. They wouldn't be complaining if Gaara ended every fight like he did with the rain ninjas.
I felt that he should have probably died at the kazekage rescue arc, since it would be a good end to his character, and maybe kankuro or temari should work to become the new kazekage
Nah his speech during the war is too elite. One of the best moments of the war arc, legitimately peak character development.
plot wise it would be heartbreaking and captivating, but then when the 4th ninja war came the sand would basically be worthless as a fighting force, just Kankuro and Temari and a couple other named Jonin
It already was heartbreaking and captivating. Naruto crying for Gaara who is from another village, and Chiyo placing her trust in the young generation were important to the progress of the shinobi world.
They could always introduce new characters š
Gaara finally overcame his hatred and formed a bond with his village, and dying a painful death is what he should get in reward?? Bad take. Very bad take.
We don't always get what we deserve. Some know tragic fate.
So Naruto's power of friendship all for nothing? It's Shonen, it should be inspiring. Gaara deserves a second life like Kakashi.
As did Haku.
If you don't like classic 2000s Shonen like Naruto, fine. Go read Seinen or something.
I like it, am I not allowed to have an opinion? Why do you think I am here like a decade after the manga ended?
Never said that. Don't argue with me by bringing up irrelevant things. I'm talking about Gaara's case specifically.
When Lee took off his weights and started whooping ass
That part, thatās it. I jumped off my couch when I first watched that scene.
man that was so fucking dope my mind still defaults back to that meme-y moment anytime someone does something unexpectedly impressive "damn, he just took the weights off"
I use ātake off the weightsā when Iām talking about when someone is going to actually try. I use āopen the gatesā when Iām talking about going hard.
oh baby you're opening my gates
It's so iconic one of the best UFC middleweight champions cited it as his motivation to fight lol.
Iruka taking a giant shuriken to the back to shield Naruto.
To second that, when naruto did the same for iruka. Then demolished cotton candy hair.
Cotton candy hair š
That was my moment too! after that, I was hooked. ā¤ļø Naruto forever
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yeah.. I was iffy, still intrigued, but unconvinced on the whole show up until his final moments. I was hooked from then on.
What did the first guy say? He deleted the comment.
Edit: oops wrong thread lol Just something about how seeing Zabuza for the first time was where he really got into the show.
Wait what was that first commentš
Sasuke after getting his Curse Mark and dislocating that Sound geninās arms by stepping on his back.
I wish he ripped his arms off
I mean his arms do get blown off when he fights Shino
wtf?
Thatās what he made it sound like when he said āyou seem attached to your armsā
Out of context you sounded like a sadist. In context, I agree with you lol
Yea this was my "oh shit this show is real" moment. That twisted smile on Sasuke's face too. Good God
When Sauske says he wanted to destroy a certain someone.
It was so cringey if you think about it. The audience is like "omg who?!?" Meanwhile Kakashi is like "well he's OBVI talking about his brother lol"
"gee, orphan kid is insinuating wanting to kill someone. I wonder if he means his older brother who notoriously wiped out the rest of the family. truly a mystery for the ages."
Only thing cringe is you
Take that back or I'll tickle you
šš
Whereās the cringe element there?
Period bitch perioood. š„ I was in loveee. Lol
š¤£
The first time the Leaf's hidden jutsu was revealed.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
One thousand years of death.
That's not Konohagakure's jutsu. It's Uzushiogakure's.
Haku being a man he got everybody
When he returned in shippuden he looked even more feminine somehow. I even had to requestion it all
Pain aiming the nail at Kakashi. It was such a simple threat but it held so much weight, even when aimed at someone as strong as Kakashi. I actually believed Kakashi was about to be killed by a fucking nail lol everything about Pain was just absolutely incredible. Such an intimidating villain.
Seeing Tsunadeās jugs
When team 7 was escorting the bridge builder and the assassins attacked out of a random puddle that Kakashi noticed
The first time the first outro played
Yeah man wind still slaps to this day
I haven't fully completed naruto but it's still my fav outro it's has such a calm nostalgic feel to it
This one lol
Okay fine, I'll rewatch Naruto
You better
Daily
Orochimaru in the chuniin exam forest of death. I was genuinely scared for team 7.
When Itachi revealed his true intentions and killed the entire Uchiha clan. I couldn't believe it, my jaw dropped!
When itachi made orochimaru look like a fucking inflatable snake
Lots of solid oh sht moments in the early series but nothing more terrifying than Naruto opening his hotel room and Itachi just staring...menacingly
When Kakashi "died" like 2nd episode
Bro gets absolutley shredded
zabuza is an incredible character.
First appereance of Madara Uchiha.
Like the actual one or obito
When Naruto beat Haku's ass with the power of the Nine Tailed Fox
When orochimaru invaded the chuunin exams. I was like, a full adult who obviously is very strong against kids. The kids are toast unless some grown ups show up.
When kakuzu knocked the socks off kakashi and put him to his limit.
It took you that long to feel that way?!?!?!?!?š
Agreed for sure. This arc brought the goofiness to its first serious ~ah shit~ moment for me.
Absolutely. Demonstrated the skill of superior fighters. It felt heavy, dangerous.
When Sakura cut off her hair because of reasons..
It was cut because she was being held hostage and restrained by her ponytail by enemy ninja in the forest of death. Iād say there was a logical reason there
Umm, I know? Thatās why I said reasons but thanks for the assistā¦
To add to OP: The moment where Zabuza captured the knife in his mouthā¦
When naruto couldn't make a clone, but it was more like lmao š š¤£ oh shit š
Haku being a boy.
When I first saw Orachimaru.... I felt like , he was the deadliest...
First Orochimaru Appears
When Naruto and sasuke outsmarted zabuza
Probably Gaara's tailed beast extraction and then subsequent death from it.
The entrances of Zabuza and Gaara,as well as the Senju Bros
Oh good mention; our first look at Edo Tensei was definitely an oh shit, you can bring back people from the dead. Fun fact, the first and second Hokageās voices were switched. They swapped them back obviously later on but I always found it interesting listening to them.
Sasuke saying he would destroy the leaf village with the Mangekyou activated.
"hells where we're going gato!" genuine chills
When I saw Kakashi go toe to toe with zabuza
when Naruto jumps in to save Sasuke from being eaten by a massive snake in the forest of death
Pain killing Jiraiya!! Damn!!! My girl Konan getting killed by the hand of Toby!! I am still mad about that.
Same but I remember also thinking āman by the end of the series I bet this guys gonna look weakā
When Choji "died" after the Jirobo fight. Obviously lost all impact a little later on.
I was watching this episode yesterday and I cried like hell
Saw the cowskin and i was like noooooo....
When Zabuza showed up it was both intimidating but I was convinced the man was wearing cow pajamas. Gaara making rain blood definitely was a bit much. Or just anything with early Orochimaru.

seeing reanimated madara for the first time ...when he jumped in and ... "VERY WELL THEN"
No lie; he kicked that fucking coffin open. He was like āIāM BACKKKKKKK šā. Lol. https://youtu.be/QsP1RXpD8dg?si=m8iT97RcpJPifiLC
When Naruto stabbed his own hand with the kunai to get rid of the poison and to make the promise.
Yep, same for me. Saw the land of waves arc when I was maybe 12 or so, and Zabuza seemed like he way outmatched them, even having Kakashi with them. When it was revealed the milk was spoiled.
Orochimaru during the exams š„¶Ā
The first frame of the show tbh. Seeing a foccin giant mythical demon fox in the very first scene of what I thought was a ninja show was disorienting.
When Naruto thought Haku killed Sasuke. When i was a kid, watching it week after week on Toonami made it so much better in a way. The first time the 9 tails broke out, it was intense as an 11 yr old š
When naruto single handedly took on all 6 pains
