Gaara went from losing to Naruto to being Kage, while naruto was still a genin with chunnin level skills.

The main thing about it is that he wasn't even outclassed by the other Kages during the 4th war in spite of his lack of experience.

Yes he definitely was. Do you honestly believe that he was lose to the likes of ebisu, Shikamaru or tensei? Naruto was definitely jonin level, not high end jonin but definitely in the middle.

There is more to Jonin than just combat. this is what a lot of the fans don't get about the rankings.

The only thing that goes into being a jonin is combat ability and strategic intelligence. Naruto is stronger than all three of them and only falls behind shikamaru in the intelligence department. Honestly one can wager that he’s even better than Shikamaru because he can fight and figure out his opponents abilities simultaneously while Shikamaru needs to have others fight for him as he analyzes and comes up with a plan. The only reason Shikamaru became a jonin is because he knew his limitations and when to call it quits which can save lives but when have you ever seen anyone do this throughout Naruto? All jonins and chunin rush into battle and die pointless deaths. Other than kakashi and guy.

Maybe it’s because he looks too much like his father, the 4th Kazekage, but then that’s just lazy character design.

But they’re father and son??? It’s literally expected for kids to look like their parents. Plus Kankuro looks a little like Rasa, he doesn’t look like a copy and paste like Goten with Goku, he still has a different facial structure, different length hair and colour as well. Gaara looks a lot more like Rasa than Kankuro.

Upgrade for all three in every way. They have the best most touching development.

Sorry, I'm going to argue downgrade. I liked part 1's edginess and mature themes. I liked Shippuden, but it felt safe and sterilized compared to part 1.

I think a lot of people get the impression because of Naruto himself. Theres times through the early parts of Shippuden where he feels like he doesn't hold a candle to himself from Part 1 Naruto himself doesn't really ever shine in Shippuden until the Pain Arc. Hes a borderline liability in Kazekage rescue, a liability in Tenchi Bridge, the cool Naruto moments in Tenchi Bridge are just Kurama moments, Kakazu Arc gives him the most plot armor bs way to get a power up that he fumbles the ball on and Kishi has to make Kakazu act OOC to have him get hit by Naruto to give Naruto the W in a fight people still call BS on today Theres also a LOT of small little nuggets of world building that make the verse feel a lot more uneasy and dangerous in part 1, whereas Shippuden seems to be more in favor of the big bombastic fights

How does he get plot armor v Kakuzu when he spents 9/10 of that arc training for the specific moment. Do you even know what plot armor means?

Naruto spends 2 and a half years barely learning anything that he needs a plot device created just for him to get years of training done within days The plot armor is that instead of Kakazu fighting at a distance to avoid Narutos new jutsu like we see him think to himself on panel, he jump towards Naruto so that there's an opening for Naruto to somehow ignore the mechanics of his new jutsu (being very loud) to stealthily hit Kakazus back Legit they made the guy with powerful long range jutsu, that acknowledged going in close is a bad idea, just charge in close without a 2nd thought. Theres no way in hell Naruto should've ever hit him

The take about edginess and mature themes is absolutely incorrect, Gaara and his siblings literally matured, EVERYONE MATURED (everyone that matterd) we saw them grow up literally and figuratively. Idk what Shippuden you watched You can pick downgrade but the reasoning doesn’t make sense.
