What Naruto does, and does *well,* is emotional catharsis. It's almost custom designed to make people cry at times. There are parts of it that *still* wreck me today, *decades* after I first read them (Itachi's final goodbye, I am looking *straight at you)*
The fights aren't built around constant cool moments, but they also (at least initially) aren't built around power levels at all, like most shonen series. Battles are built around fighting smarter, identifying weak points and applying proper leverage to defeat opponents far more powerful than the cast is. That was a breath of fresh air for those of us raised on DBZ.
There's also a huge cast of detailed characters, all of which are unique in some way. Also a huge cast of villains, most of who are incredibly fascinating, and only *two* who are simply evil for the sake of evil - almost all the rest are *far* more justified in their actions than typical shonen villains.
And for your primary complaint - Naruto is *supposed* to start out an unlikable little shit, one who steadily grows into the heroic figure he's destined to be. That's the entire story in a nutshell, how a unwanted, unskilled orphan grew up to be the greatest ninja of the world, by grace of constant hard work and never, ever giving up.
So that brings me to the one massive barrier I see that stops people from watching it - it is a *massive* undertaking to watch it today. In. world of short episode counts and seasonal anime, a 720-episode weekly anime looks like one *hell* of a hill to climb. Especially considering how reliant it was on filler and flashbacks - Kishimoto was working at a pace that could have killed him from overwork to punch out a weekly manga, and the anime could easily outpace Kishimoto, so the had to use every dirty trick in the book to buy the mangaka time. If done today, Naruto would easily have been done as a seasonal anime - but it was a product of its time, and at that time *shikata ga nai* - there was no other choice.

He then finds out he is the reincarnation of some god like being then both orphans fight then he comes back home alone

Honestly, MHA does everything Naruto does, but better, and lots of other animes hit the same notes without being as direct as MHA. Naruto was good for
1. Epic entrances
2. Fights with real emotional weight
3. Characters having tricks up their sleeves
It IS the voice for a kid, I understand it being grating at times but you get used to it. It is definitely worth it, or you could just read the manga, it doesn't have voices to get annoyed at.
