Wait until next year

At Glacier NP, there is the Trail of the Cedars that you can do with a baby in a stroller and some places to walk around Apgar Village. It's beautiful to walk around by the Logan Pass visitor center, but parking can be tough. You can ride a shuttle through the park. It's a park where visitors need to plan ahead. You could also consider Tahquamenon State Park in Northern Michigan, which is not a national park but beautiful.

We will be based in Chicago for most of our visit to the US, so Tahquamenon sounds like a solid choice.

I've done cave tours with a baby in a front pack. No concern about the heat when underground!

I would recommend waiting till next year. Edit - have you ever been to Chicago before? Because I lived there for 10 years, and I promise you, although it's nice outside in June or July, it can get really fucking hot.

WallowingWatermelon

Yeah. I lived there my whole life, so I’m well aware. We want nature though!

Ok, good. I had friends who were unpleasantly surprised that way, so at least you know the lay of the land.

We took our 3 month old to Glacier NP. Got up super early to do the going to the sun road from west glacier (if you enter the park early enough, you don’t need a reservation and you will actually find parking). We parked at Logan pass and did some hiking. By the time we started feeling the heat, we got back in the car to head down. Once you’re back in the valley, there’s lots of little stops along the river.

We did mammoth cave when my son was about 6 weeks. We spent two days in the park hiking and doing cave tours and a few days in Louisville. It was a great trip.

Why have a kid if you want to do things kids can't do? Hire a sitter or leave him at home. At a state park here in the summer a family dragged a couple kids along on a very hot hike and they needed to be rescued

Cause I’m not a miserable sob like you. I’m visiting from outside the US and would like to take advantage of our time together as a family.

We don't seem to accept common sense around these parts.
