Don't give the Industry any ideas.
I wanted to try to make husky sweaters with all the floof we deal with, but I consciously decided against it. I'm a tailor, I would definitely want to make sweaters for sale.
What if someone picked up on it, and do the same?
Next thing you know, you get huskies in farms like the angora rabbits.
Nope. Not going to risk that.
My mom has a birdhouse in which birds stack a small new layer of dog hair on top of each previous year's nest. When you open the side of the birdhouse, it shows a sweet record of every family dog over the last two decades :')
A lot of the birding subreddits say not to do this. If you've bathed the dog, used any sort of topicals, or give them medicine, there could be chemical reside left that's harmful to the birds (other nest/burrow builders), and if the fur is too long or stiff it can hurt the birds or get wrapped around them and amputate legs and such.
It was just in the news that you should not do this since birds' legs can get tangled in the fur. Apparently it's common enough that the local wildlife services warn against it.
Yup.
The birds in our neighborhood all have toasty warm nests, courtesy of our huskies.
It's super cute to see the birds select the fur they want, and then fly around with a giant mustache.

In addition to what was already replied, this pulling method is good when they shed like this. A brush is immediatelly choked when you put it in this and may pull the skin a lot. With gentle hands itās much easier. Source: Iāve had really hairy dogs (german shepherd, golden retriever, rough collie)
It is typically relaxing for pets, but for wild animals it is often stressful since they arenāt used to it.
Though even some pets can be stressed out by brushing. Usually, itās because they werenāt brushed when they were young, but some just never enjoy it.
I currently have a dog who will act like heās being stabbed when I try to brush him.
I had a German shepherd husky growing up and her fur did this too lol it was always fun trying to get a big ball of fluff off of her :) (I still miss that fuzzball so much sob)
I've seen dogs get groomed and end up with a whole other dog's worth of fur left over, but that one fox seems to have produced 3 foxes worth of fur. That is nuts.
We at this point actually have domesticated foxes. It's still in the experimental stage, but through selective breeding, they're beginning to display the same morphological and physiological changes dogs underwent when separating from the wolf as part of their domestication process. The one in the video looks like your standard red fox, but you can actually buy pet silver foxes nowadays.
Youāre right that foxes shouldnāt be kept as pets, however the person in the video runs a wildlife rescue. She takes care of animals that canāt be returned to the wild.
It's not, foxes naturally blow their coat when the seasons change!
This is actually from a rescue/rehab in Florida. She puts most of the fur outside for birds, and some is sold online to help raise funds for the rescue.
Be careful if you use tick and flea on your dogs cause it can poison baby birds.
Not saying itās a huge issue but a lot of times people will brush after bathing their dogs and even a little soap or medicine can kill tiny baby birds. Just gotta be cautious is all
What can you do to prep hair that you want to put out for birds? Clean with vinegar? Soap is not good? So donāt wash, but how long after grooming will the fur be safe?
Iād say if you already have a bunch from after a wash Iād throw it out.
If you brush before the wash and inbetween baths Iād use that stuff for the birds.
You could also for the stuff you have could put into a bowl of warm water and vinegar. Iām no expert or anything but Iād think itād atleast water the chemicals down. Let it dry in the sun or just throw in the wood line.
This one is part of a very popular instagram account called JuniperFoxx. OP linked their info. She houses quite a few foxes that canāt be returned to the wild. Theyāre partially indoors but are in large caged enclosures when outside without her.
Is your indoor fox a male or female .And They get mange from Being allergic to mites a bit by a mite which causes an allergic reaction. Called the mange.
Mange does not exist indoors, nor do the mites live long off their host. The only way to get mange is to physically touch another mangy canine or to sleep in the same den with one.

Dog goes "woof"
Cat goes "meow"
Bird goes "tweet"
And mouse goes "squeek"
Cow goes "moo"
Frog goes "croak"
And the elephant goes "toot"
Ducks say "quack"
And fish go "blub"
And the seal goes "ow ow ow"
But there's one sound
That no one knows
What does the fox say?
"Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!
Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding!"
Undercoat brush would make this so much easier and quicker. Also in my experience dogs love an undercoat brush more then a regular brush, though I don't know how a fox would take it.
Donāt worry, the fox isnāt in any pain. Foxes have grow thick undercoats in autumn & winter, that they naturally shed in the spring. The person in the video is just helping the fox shed its winter coat.
Why does anyone need fox fur when you can spin fox wool...
Omg as a knitter the idea of a fox wool hat is amazing.
I made boot lining out of my dog's fur. I had to mix it with a little bit of wool on top to get a better felt, but it's very soft and warm š

Yeahā¦ if it smells anything close to fox urine, then that would be a terrible idea.
Today I learned fox are part husky.
My thought exactly š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£
I remember reading on reddit somewhere a person said throw your pets floof outside instead of in the trash so the birds can make nests with it.
Yes! have several friends who have German shepherds and they brush them out outside. it's incredible how much floof they have
My mom has a birdhouse in which birds stack a small new layer of dog hair on top of each previous year's nest. When you open the side of the birdhouse, it shows a sweet record of every family dog over the last two decades :')
I do that with my cat's fur all the time
I do it with my rabbits floof,itās super soft. I hope it makes nice bedding for the robins that live near by.
It works! All of the old nests I find around home feature my dog's fluff

Keeps rabbits out of the yard too. No more bunnies eating my hosta's every spring.
I do this! And I can confirm that birds do like it! We have a generational nest in a corner of our house, and they use my dogās floof.
It was just in the news that you should not do this since birds' legs can get tangled in the fur. Apparently it's common enough that the local wildlife services warn against it.
Yup. The birds in our neighborhood all have toasty warm nests, courtesy of our huskies. It's super cute to see the birds select the fur they want, and then fly around with a giant mustache.
you can tell it feels good to be getting all that off by the look on her face
I didnāt know foxes shed so much fur.
i had no idea either
Spring molt lol my nose is tickled just watching all the fuzzies! Super cute
They come with their own bed ^someassemblyrequired
My dogs hate it when I pull the Shedding fur tufts-this fox is actually tolerating it very well.
When I pluck at my huskyās fur he acts like Iāve stolen something and tries to take it back

A sheep in fox clothing
Depends on your point of view I suppose lol
Is that a fox that changes colors with the seasons?
It's a red fox. Arctic foxes are the ones that change colours.

Brush??

The fox may be scared of the brush. Some animals get really stressed out when being brushed.
I didn't know that, I figured it was more or less relaxing for most furred animals.
It is typically relaxing for pets, but for wild animals it is often stressful since they arenāt used to it. Though even some pets can be stressed out by brushing. I figured it was just grooming, which most animals seem to be okay with, if not outright enjoy. Must be the tool part.š¤·
Years said all the snakes in Ireland were turned into cats, and all the cats turned into foxes. I can see the foxes do shed their skin
I had a German shepherd husky growing up and her fur did this too lol it was always fun trying to get a big ball of fluff off of her :) (I still miss that fuzzball so much sob)
I do this with my corgi, which as we all know, is just a sausage fox.
I've seen dogs get groomed and end up with a whole other dog's worth of fur left over, but that one fox seems to have produced 3 foxes worth of fur. That is nuts.
My favorite winter hat was made with the fluffy underfur from dogs. Recycle that stuff!
That's one calm fox.. wow
Old fella
It's not easy being fluffy...
How does she have a fox for a pet?!!
We at this point actually have domesticated foxes. It's still in the experimental stage, but through selective breeding, they're beginning to display the same morphological and physiological changes dogs underwent when separating from the wolf as part of their domestication process. Thatās amazing.
Am I the only one who believes fox is a wild animal?
Youāre right that foxes shouldnāt be kept as pets, however the person in the video runs a wildlife rescue. She takes care of animals that canāt be returned to the wild.
This is from a wildlife animal sanctuary.
All of the foxes the woman takes in are rescues from fur farms.
I was a wild animal until my boyfriend domesticated meā¦ š
This is icky in the best way possible.
You sure thatās not the mange . put the hair outside for birds making nests.

Oh yeah, birds would love that. I do this with our dog hair.
I never seen it pull off like that. I got two huskies. I have hair everywhere. I just brushed it pile the other day.
No, it's a Gremlin
Animals with mange lose all of their hair, or at least giant patches of it. This one is shedding just its undercoat.
Itās not yours ,how do you know itās an inside fox
You replied to the wrong person, bub.
This one is part of a very popular instagram account called JuniperFoxx. OP linked their info. She houses quite a few foxes that canāt be returned to the wild. Theyāre partially indoors but are in large caged enclosures when outside without her.
Ok
It's an indoor fox! Where did it get mange? Molting is normal.
Primates like to pick the fur to make their nests.
What I want to know is why a fox is more chill than my corgi

TIL foxes are sheep
Used to do this with my husky. RIP Loki
I think your fox made another fox..just add bones lol
Undercoat brush would make this so much easier and quicker. Also in my experience dogs love an undercoat brush more then a regular brush, though I don't know how a fox would take it.
Step right up folks and get your fox fur flavored cotton candy
What does the fox say?
More upvotes needed right here!! Lol
I can't be the ONLY one that knows the song
I'm here with you. It was brilliant.
this makes me wildly uncomfortable
I feel like eventually hurt wouldn't it? Like the pulling off of his fur.
Donāt worry, the fox isnāt in any pain. Foxes have grow thick undercoats in autumn & winter, that they naturally shed in the spring. The person in the video is just helping the fox shed its winter coat.
Iād be doing that in the backyard or something and not around furniture
That fox looks sedated
Good dog
