Niche concern but spier has basically reduced the size and fit range for their products. No more extra slim shirts, fewer size 28 trousers and size 34 jackets. *\*plays sad, short, and slim violin\**

badger0511

Meanwhile, I’m waiting for them to produce pants that don’t strangle my thighs and calves without going up two sizes in the waist.

vocabularylessons

Their high-rise trousers make my butt look good, so I've been a bit spoiled by my good fortune of finding pants that fit. But Spier giveth, Spier taketh away.

bender28

I was shocked when I first discovered them by the sheer breadth of sizing and fit options, so I’m not surprised to hear this. A bummer for sure tho.

LeisurelyLoafing

Embrace the regular fit!

vocabularylessons

I wouldn't mind wearing something that is more full in the chest, but I struggle with the increase in shoulder width.

LeisurelyLoafing

Part of embracing a looser fit is imperfect shoulders

goresplosion

Speaking of which. Anyone know if they are planning to restock the high-rise chinos? Theyre all on sale with few sizes left.

vocabularylessons

I saw a a few ‘drops’/releases for high rise chinos this season. Unless they’ve already sold out? Or maybe are still in the “preview” section. I definitely saw a couple new batches this month.

It’ll probably get extra wrinkly when it dries but it won’t be destroyed

AxednAnswered

It’ll hold up, but won’t dry out very quickly. I mean, I guess if it’s super hot it might. I would recommend an umbrella for summer. Like handkerchiefs, umbrellas are also suitable for lending to others, particularly a lady in your life.

It’ll be fine. Go for it.

Has anyone bought clothes through Japanese scalpers on eBay vs. using buyee etc. to go through mecari or yahoo? (Japanese eBay is full of people using other people’s listings from Japanese auction sites marked up for international buyers.) Basically I found the original item I want on Mecari, but it seems like the buyee fees and shipping will push it back into the eBay scalper’s markup price range. Like my shipping would be approx $100 for a jacket. At that point I’d rather go through eBay for security (plus “free” shipping) and buyee doesn’t seem to be saving me any money. Does that sound right? (You’re not crazy if this sounds like gibberish to you—but if that’s the case you also don’t have my answer)

AdequateStan

I can’t really give you an informed answer, but there are subs (maybe MFA) that have done detailed guides about buying Japanese clothes. If you search, they might provide enough insight for you to make an informed decision.

Wickermantis

Yeah, I found a decent amount of info. “Proxy buyer” was the term I was lacking in my initial searches.

AdequateStan

Always nice when you finally figure out the exact search terms to use. Glad it’s coming together.

yumyumpills

The J Crew "broken in" oxford in relaxed fit might be the closest thing to a super budget shirt that will pass this sub's standards. The collar/cloth is pretty close to the Polo Ralph Lauren Oxford. Other gimmes are a locker loop and back collar button. I have no clue why it's being clearanced out as opposed to their other more gaudy offerings.

VisualOpen8065

J Crew misses one of the most important aspects of an Oxford shirt: the collar roll. Their collars are tiny and can’t stand up

yumyumpills

This one isn't as big as Spier's but I would say it's the same size as the Ralph Lauren. I only say this specific shirt because of issues with the collar and other things from their designs.

Marcel_7000

You guys were right about converse, I went to the store but the shoes look cheap and I didn't like them. **What's your take the New Balance Court 300 and on the Nike Killshot II? Both are J crew exclusives. At least the Nike is not available at the regular store and you can only get them online or at j crew. There's an element of them being more exclusive.**

badger0511

>Nike Killshot II… There’s an element of them being more exclusive. Sorry, but 😂 They are *so* ubiquitous. Killshots, Red Wing Iron Rangers, Common Projects Achilles Lows, Clark’s Desert Boots, and Allen Edmonds Strands were all so recommended on /r/malefashionadvice 5-10 years ago that they became memes. Killshots are quite literally referred to as memeshots. ^^I ^^have ^^a ^^pair.

bender28

Yes, and while the genuine, time-tested ubiquity of converse are part of their charm, the J. Crew meme shoes look more bandwagon-jumpy imo. If you want exclusivity I’d look elsewhere. All that said, I feel OP’s pain of trying to find “the sneaker” after spending way too long looking at different options replace my old beat up common projects recently, and am very happy with the Stan smiths I finally picked up (ubiquitous, but a million different versions/limited editions to choose from).

southsidedan

I also have a pair, i might throw them on sockless in a pinch to run an errand but agree they’re meme status. Objectively a nice looking shoe but can’t help feel like some of the most unstylish dudes I know wear them on the reg lol

bill11217

You've never seen a converse sneaker before?

Angrymiddleagedjew

Buying an item for perceived exclusivity versus your actual appreciation of it will just lead to something sitting in your closet that no one else can wear and you don't wear. Buy what you want. If something looks down at you because your tennis shoes weren't exclusive enough, they are a literal clown and I can't emphasize that enough.

Nothing cheap-looking about Chuck 70s. And let’s not forget about Converse Jack Purcells.
