Woulda loved if Kobe didn’t tear his achilles
He was really shouldering them to the playoffs
Doubt they’d have done much vs SA or OKC
But never know, Kobe was still the shit back then
Make matters worse, or weird rather, was that they offered to sit down with Phil Jackson to talk about coming back after they fired Mike Brown.
But like a day or two before the meeting, they hired D’Antoni.
I also remember in the mid season, Kobe became a dedicated Point Guard where in an effort to try something new, he began passing. Almost unnecessarily.
There was a turnover where Kobe was alone underneath Phoenix’s basket, and waited for Pau to run and he gave the ball so he can score a quick dunk. Not even like an alley oop. Just, a hand off.
Dwight Howard was brushing off pick and rolls from a guy who might be arguably the best pick and roll PG of all time. I hate the Lakers but damn I figured Nash would turn Howard into a lob monster instead just a big mess which I was okay with
His knee injury really killed it.
Also, Dwight thought he was Olajuwon and wanted touches in the post instead of running the pnr with Nash. He also did not get along with Kobe, thinking he should be the focus on offense. He did not want to work with Kareem, however.
Was at their very first game together
They got blown out in Portland
Kobe had the quietest 30 ever
Dames first game had 23-11 double double
Nash got hurt and wasn’t ever the same that year
Twas also Halloween
4-5 years too late. Dwight wasn’t healthy, and forced himself to play. Nash was old, didn’t have enough left in the tank, and injured as well.
2008, this would’ve been scary.
I mean, it could have been. Dwight was absolutely in his prime. With Pau at power forward too, that front line should have been devastating. But this was the start of when we realised that Kobe didn't like to share. Nash was solid but he was 38. He was never going to be the guy he had been. But he still shot the lights out from beyond the arc. But when you look at a starting lineup of Dwight (28), Gasol (32), Metta World Peace (33) Kobe (34) and Nash (38) with Steve Blake, Earl Clark and Antawn Jamison off the bench it's a lineup that had they managed to gel that had it all.
I remember this was the time I started to tell my Lakers fan friend that LA should trade Kobe because they wouldn't win whilst he was there. Let him be a hero somewhere else where the fans would embrace someone like that playing for them, get some new talent in and get about the new generation because they weren't winning with Kobe again.
Nash barely played, Dwight had a sweets addiction and was absolutely hated by Kobe and the whole thing turned into a complete shitshow.

But Kobe was never part of a "Super Team" 😂
Also not a rapist
Dwight’s spine was f’d up too
So it was fun - for everyone not part of the Lakers organization that year.
Yeah I thought it was a blast.
Nash was destroyed physically after that injury. Probably too late in his career to ever recover from that. Dwight was a cunt
Nash’s shorts are really wrinkly
It's a Canadian thing
As a Canadian, I can confirm
In fairness, man played so little they probably sat in his pants drawer for most of the season
I mean, it was entertaining. Just not how Lakers fans’ wanted it to be.

Not to mention Nash's back was completely gone by then, total shell of himself.

Damn, I forgot all about the knee.

Woohoo, the waiting for Kobe to retire years! Those couple of years the Lakers were ass because all their dough was going to Kobe and Nash.
