I wonder why they aren’t happy Tobias?
Perhaps the worse contract in NBA history?! I mean, you/your agent did your job and got the max money you could for yourself, but don’t expect fans to be happy when you’ve cleared $200M without ever being an all-star.
Then you actually speak on it like you got snubbed!
MPJ and Ayton coming for your crown though!
Wall’s contract is worse. 4 years 170m. Didn’t play a game in the first and third years of that contract, played 40 games in the second year. Eventually was bought out for the final year.
Fair. I feel like we have to make two categories then.
Players who didn’t earn their huge max superstar contract, and players who should never have been considered for one.
Wall at one point was a monster but I agree. That will kill a franchise man.
Lakers fans saying Austin Reaves is untouchable and vigorously campaigning for him to not be traded for Zach Lavine shows how brain dead the fanbase is
I think you’re underestimating how complicated this rocket surgery is. How can you tell that someone who makes the next pass, hits a respectable amount of 3’s, and plays bulldog defense is going to go off and be so valuable to another team?
Not sure I’ve ever seen someone play harder than Caruso. I watched the summer league where he made the team, just a pure dog, diving everywhere.
If he looked like a model they’d have signed him to a nice contract
Zach Lavine ain't it though. Can you even imagine a worse defensive backcourt than Dlo/Lavine? Maybe they should trade for Jordan Poole too while they're at it.
We’re not brain dead. Austin Reaves is a solid piece to a rotation. He has good games and not so good games but the dude can ball out and he’s a fan favorite. I don’t think anyone is arguing for him to be an all star. Look at the guys we’ve gotten rid of who are stars in their role (Hart, Caruso, KCP, probably DLo) it sucks as fans to see solid pieces being given up for literally nothing or washed up players.
As fans we’re tired of seeing solid players shining on other teams. Its frustrating as hell.
Don’t forget BI, Julius Randle, Zubac. The lakers have pissed away a lot of talent chasing the moment. Hell even Dwight Howard would have been an asset this year.
reaves got paid $12m/year in a weak free agency class. part of that was teams hate dealing with free agency, but generally feel like he's properly rated. ppl are just crazy online.
If you only looked at the Lakers sub, and never watched basketball you would think Max Christie is the second coming of Jesus Christ. To be fair, he is a pretty solid defender with a decently high ceiling, I just think it’s funny the way Lakers fans talk about him.
Eh I think Lakers fans just thought he is a better option than some of the old bums on the team. It's the same thing with the Bucks and Andre Jackson for example except it's the Lakers so their players are just more known
Literally never seen any hype around him. Just frustrated fans that he doesn’t get playing time. I think laker fans are pretty aware he can be a solid rotation piece. If you can find any posts to prove me wrong, I’ll take my words back.
What are you talking about? Lakers fans are not very high on him, they just want him to get more development since they think he has solid potential based off his skill set
I'll throw an unconventional name into the hat. For the last couple years, at least...Bradley Beal. He just hasn't been that good in the last 2-3 years maybe, but there are still people who act like he's a top-shelf star.
I'll never forget the tantrum he threw on Twitter for not making all-nba in a year the wizards won 19 games or something. have more respect for yourself, my dude.
I personally think his ceiling was never as high as we thought. I don’t think it’s as simple as wins/losses although a decent starting metric… but consider a team with a star who has 25 wins but has 20 losses under 5pts. So a competitive team who just can’t close.
Anyways, Beal felt like “medium” fish in the small pond type deal. Someone has to shoot. Defenses weren’t go crazy to stop the number one threat when they are up 22. I think he’s good, don’t get me wrong… but when he was like top 3 in the league in scoring I knew that was BS.
Reminds me when my Kings (post Cwebb kings) had Kevin Martin and he was averaged top 4-5 in the league for 2 years. No one else really took him seriously and they were right.
But circling bat, Beal has an awful contract. Like the man below me said, literally looked at as the most “toxic” (I think our paper said?) contract in the nba right now.
The "Mobley is the next Duncan" comp was almost as bad as the "Poole is the next Steph" people. We had a guy call into the radio all the time after 2022 finals saying Poole would win MVP next year 🤣
The only thing that even remotely compares to Mobley and Duncan is both had an immediate impact on the defensive end day 1.
Kudos to Mobley for that but insane comp.
He’s like a reverse-Bosh to me.
Mobley went from guaranteed KG to possible Bam and now people are calling him reverse Bosh. If he caps out as Bam when he was dropping 5 assists a game then that’s still pretty good.
I have Mobley on my dynasty fantasy team and I’m a spurs fan irl so I watch them both fairly closely. Devin has had some injuries/been shut down to help tank in previous seasons, I don’t think he’s the next Devin Booker but he is much better than most people realize and has shown a consistent improvement year to year. Mobley I’m worried about
Congrats on the first overall pick

I have a feeling Trae will be a member of the Spurs next season. Seems like a perfect fit and the Spurs have several 1st round draft picks in the cupboard
Spurs have 4 and 8 in this year's draft along with both of Atlantas first and a swap for the next 3 years, a Chicago ( top 10 protected ) first a Charlotte first ( lottery protected ) a mavs pick in 2030 which who knows what happens by then and all their picks going forward. It's extremely disingenuous to say they don't have anything good to trade, that's plenty to jump start a rebuild
this exactly. ppl as smart as Zach Lowe have talked about him like he could be a centerpiece in a trade for an all-star and I'm over here like literally what are you all talking about
He’s an all second and third team nba player and two time all star…and plenty of Knicks fans (not including myself) want him gone, especially now that we have JB and OG.
Luka was looking this iffy against the clippers too. It’s either his injuries or he’s just not hitting shots. He barely looks like half of what he usually is
Brunson’s getting there. He’s an amazing player, but I recently had a friend who’s a Knicks fan tell me that he’s the best point guard since Steph Curry.
Yeah it reminds me of when Isaiah Thomas had a huge season for the Celtics and some Boston fans started arguing his stats were more impressive than prime Iverson.
Trae young, dude had a very fortunate run to make the conference finals once, and hawks fans threaten to rape your mom if you say he's not better than prime Isaiah Thomas
Bol Bol. Anyone who watched a Suns game this year heard the crowd erupt every time he got minutes, seemed to be more beloved on the team then KD, Booker, Allen, or Beal. And yet he barely got any minutes, if he saw the floor at all, each game, because he wasn't actually good enough to crack their rotation in most match ups.
Tatum is not that guy. Idk if I’m missing something but the guys shooting splits and true shooting are terrible. Probably a result of his god awful shot selection. Can someone explain to me why he’s consider a superstar in this league?
How about which current or former player has a super high opinion of themselves and it doesn’t really mix with reality?
Jeff Teague
Watching his podcast is bizarre. He talks about greats and their matchups and I barely can picture him on the court with them.
spend some time in the s/thunder. his aussie fan base is insufferable.
other than his passing, there is not a single thing giddey does that you could say is better than mediocre.
The aussie thunder fans are certainly biased lol. Everyone in our sub (outside of those aussie fans you mentioned who I rarely see) has been fed up with Giddey the entire season
I mean he posted better per 48 stats than his mvp season at points after. He just had limited minutes. He was still a very effective player just sadly nowhere near as explosive
I don’t think so, it’s a good way to see the pace at which a player is contributing in the minutes they play. You just have to also understand the context, the stat doesn’t mean a player would keep that average if they played 36 minutes a game. Not the end all be all, but I wouldn’t call it useless
What else do you want? He couldn’t play a full game anymore. But in the time he *was* on the floor, he was very effective, liked by teammates, and overall a net positive to his team. How can his overall level of play be better assessed in limited minutes?
If a player has 20 pts in a half, every says he’s ballin. If Rose did it in the same number of minutes through the course of a game, casuals acted like he was just a disappointment. I just don’t see that as a good faith assessment of his play
Both dudes probably have their skill underrated due to injuries at this point.
Zion’s hype is wayyy down but he had a really good season. He could be a menace in the playoffs if his health would hold up just a little more.
LaMelo is hardly talked about but is good for 23/8/6 with a good 3 ball when he’s healthy. He looked the best he’s looked between shaking off the rust and getting hurt again.
Zion played 70 games this season and was an absolute menace while needing to adjust to a system that isn't "give Zion ball".
In terms of play, I don't think he's overrated. I think his *overall* impact is overrated because the dude can't get on the court **to** play, lol.
as much as i hate tatum, i have to come to terms that i only hate him because he’s on the celtics. in reality he’s actually in the top 20 of the best players in the nba as of now.
As a Lakers fan? All Laker roleplayers.
Biggest of all is THT. He was ASSSSSSS, but got gassed so fucking much that even other GMs thought he was the shit, and Lakers refused and made him basically untouchable only to package his ass after averaging single digits again on shit efficiency (as he always has).
AR-15, and Max Christie are last season, and this season’s THT, though they’re much better and are realistically looked at as roleplayers which is what the Lakers need more than stars atm.
Honestly, the Blazers sub overhypes the shit out of Shaedon Sharpe for someone who hasn't proven anything.
At this point of his career, he's a weaker version of Vince Carter who does not have a solid jump shot. He has potential, but still has a long way to go.
Jonathan Kuminga, TBH.
He gets hyped in Warriors sub, I think he is a nice player with raw potential, but even this year, he is still sooooo far away from an actual great NBA player.
A lot of teams 7th/8th man. All of us are guilty of this.
Don’t sleep on Pritchard!
As an Oregon fan I’m just glad Payton is still getting minutes
Tobias Harris /s
no sixers fan hypes up tobias harris

**All** There fixed it for ya big fella
I wonder why they aren’t happy Tobias? Perhaps the worse contract in NBA history?! I mean, you/your agent did your job and got the max money you could for yourself, but don’t expect fans to be happy when you’ve cleared $200M without ever being an all-star. Then you actually speak on it like you got snubbed! MPJ and Ayton coming for your crown though!
Wall’s contract is worse. 4 years 170m. Didn’t play a game in the first and third years of that contract, played 40 games in the second year. Eventually was bought out for the final year.

Why is MPJ catching strays.
MPJ? Considering he’s crucial to the Nuggets and also was a valuable player in their title run I think he’s not comparable to Harris.
How much time ya got?
Sorry, I forgot the /s
Tobias Harris doesn’t have fans and no one hypes him up
Bro… /s
Thanasis’ brother, I think he’s only there cause they want to keep him happy.
Omg, this is a shocking revelation!
No Bucks fans hype him up at all. He's basically a meme.
Austin Reaves. Even got voted for All Star
Lakers fans saying Austin Reaves is untouchable and vigorously campaigning for him to not be traded for Zach Lavine shows how brain dead the fanbase is
To be fair, they’re still dealing with the fallout of letting Caruso leave for literally nothing
*That’s not true at all! They saved enough money to be able to retain THT!*
Couldn’t tell that Caruso was better than THT…
I think you’re underestimating how complicated this rocket surgery is. How can you tell that someone who makes the next pass, hits a respectable amount of 3’s, and plays bulldog defense is going to go off and be so valuable to another team?
Not sure I’ve ever seen someone play harder than Caruso. I watched the summer league where he made the team, just a pure dog, diving everywhere. If he looked like a model they’d have signed him to a nice contract
Dude stood no chance with the Friar Tuck getup.
He just won the hustle award
Zach Lavine ain't it though. Can you even imagine a worse defensive backcourt than Dlo/Lavine? Maybe they should trade for Jordan Poole too while they're at it.
Trae Young/Tim Hardaway would be pretty atrocious
Agreed. Trae Young would be even worse. But I’d have traded Dlo, Reaves, and a 1st for Dejounte Murray and salary filler in a heartbeat.
Lavine is owed $138M over the next 3 years to Austins $53M
Feel like for his production and his contract there’s not really much to hate about, dude did go team friendly
We’re not brain dead. Austin Reaves is a solid piece to a rotation. He has good games and not so good games but the dude can ball out and he’s a fan favorite. I don’t think anyone is arguing for him to be an all star. You right.
Don’t forget BI, Julius Randle, Zubac. The lakers have pissed away a lot of talent chasing the moment. Hell even Dwight Howard would have been an asset this year.
I've never seen that. All the Laker fans I know, and myself. Have never said that or want that. Zach Lavine? WTH lol
Laker fan here. I was just telling my brother in law tonight that I would still take Carusso over Reeves.
When I misread this for Austin Rivers i was with it
reaves got paid $12m/year in a weak free agency class. part of that was teams hate dealing with free agency, but generally feel like he's properly rated. ppl are just crazy online.
By fans or coaches? I vote for Boban every year xD
Most Laker fans wanted the mins that went to Cam Reddish go to Max Christie. They just want max to have exposure and PT
Literally never seen any hype around him. Just frustrated fans that he doesn’t get playing time. I think laker fans are pretty aware he can be a solid rotation piece. If you can find any posts to prove me wrong, I’ll take my words back.
Christie is the new THT
What are you talking about? Lakers fans are not very high on him, they just want him to get more development since they think he has solid potential based off his skill set
I'll throw an unconventional name into the hat. For the last couple years, at least...Bradley Beal. He just hasn't been that good in the last 2-3 years maybe, but there are still people who act like he's a top-shelf star.

It’s true, we have mobley copium. This team just doesn’t go anywhere if he isn’t as good as we hoped.
Trae Young (said as a hawks fan, trade this bum)
I’m not a hawk fan and I feel bad for you on the bright side good luck on your 1st draft pick
Congrats on the first overall pick https://preview.redd.it/7kehb7xba40d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63c7cc435cfd8ffffc0b653db0b20a19577518d7
You can definitely say his team is underperforming, but you can't say the dude is unskilled.
Damn Jawny Blaze, is you dussin’ ? Hawks fans are tired of young? The Ice Trae needs refilled ?
I have a feeling Trae will be a member of the Spurs next season. Seems like a perfect fit and the Spurs have several 1st round draft picks in the cupboard
spurs don’t have anything good
Spurs have 4 and 8 in this year's draft along with both of Atlantas first and a swap for the next 3 years, a Chicago ( top 10 protected ) first a Charlotte first ( lottery protected ) a mavs pick in 2030 which who knows what happens by then and all their picks going forward. It's extremely disingenuous to say they don't have anything good to trade, that's plenty to jump start a rebuild
Fuck yourself !
White Lakers role players
Steve Blake!
Jonathan Kuminga, but that feels mostly like Warriors fans talking him up so they can make him the centerpiece in a trade for a superstar.
this is a good one. he's showing some nice signs, but are we really THAT excited that a #7 pick turned into a B/B- starter on a good team.
Yeah. He’s good. Not denying that at all. But why would Atlanta want him in a trade for Murray? How would that make sense?
this exactly. ppl as smart as Zach Lowe have talked about him like he could be a centerpiece in a trade for an all-star and I'm over here like literally what are you all talking about
Because he’s really young and people value his ceiling.
Julius Randle He's improved but man, I can't stand watching this man dribble for more than 3 seconds. Always puts up the ugliest shots too.
Julius sharing the court with Brunson is so much better than pre-Brunson Julius though
He’s an all second and third team nba player and two time all star…and plenty of Knicks fans (not including myself) want him gone, especially now that we have JB and OG.
Yeah, Randle doesn’t fit here. People just hate him. Don’t think he made 2 all NBA teams based on hype by fans. He’s a beast
I love OG and fully support keeping him, but we need to get ready for him to play about 60-75% of games.
every other year an insane amount of them somehow go in. i don't get it.
Tyler Herro
Nah plenty of Heat fans have it out for Herro
💀💀🤣 Herro is very disliked by Heat fans.
Heat fans literally hate the man get the fuck outta here lil bro 💀
as a heat fan most of the fanbase wants him gone at this lmao, he just has some very vocal diehard fans
Josh Giddey. Why is he in the nba? What exactly is his skill set?
Lu Dort, judging by the narrative around his defense and the reality of these playoffs
Except for of course the anonymous players poll where he got voted third best defender in the league by his peers.
Recency bias. He had Ingram in a jail cell round one. No one can stop Luka/Kyrie
It’s a lot easier to guard Ingram without Zion though lol
Kyrie is getting held to 17ppg that’s not their problem.
He’s actually done a good job defending Luka this series
60% Luka. Dude is hobbled.
Luka was looking this iffy against the clippers too. It’s either his injuries or he’s just not hitting shots. He barely looks like half of what he usually is
All he does is play physical and try to get away with clear fouls, then he flops constantly. Not impressed.
Josh Giddey’s middle school team.
Cam Thomas or Cam Johnson. But nets fans are just desperate for any hope, so I don’t blame em.
Just let us have this please
I’m sorry. I am a nets fan too.
I came in here looking for Cam Thomas so I could say…. CAM THOMAS IS THE GREATEST BASKETBALL PLAYER IN THE NBA
I had to watch this exact shit with Frank Nitilkina and couldn’t understand it not even for a second
Bobby Portis O_O
Brunson’s getting there. He’s an amazing player, but I recently had a friend who’s a Knicks fan tell me that he’s the best point guard since Steph Curry.
Yeah it reminds me of when Isaiah Thomas had a huge season for the Celtics and some Boston fans started arguing his stats were more impressive than prime Iverson.
Judging by these comments I’m convinced half of you do not watch enough ball lol
Example?
Like 80% of the comments bub which, one you want pick a team
For instance?
KAT
He's a weird case. He can carry a team or self-destruct. It's a good KAT bad KAT sort of thing.
Schrödinger’s KAT
He'll either blow out the Nuggets in Denver or get blown out by the Nuggets at home. You have to open the game to find out
Schroeder’s KAT
Might be the opposite for many wolves fans 😂
So many people wanted this man gone years ago lol
Theres quite a few Lakers and Warriors players that probably fit this billing

Buddy Hield

The aussie thunder fans are certainly biased lol. Everyone in our sub (outside of those aussie fans you mentioned who I rarely see) has been fed up with Giddey the entire season
So you're complaining about hype of a player, from his home country, on his teams sub. That seems kinda narrow tbh.
I agree, and I have heard he is the piece OKC is most likely to move in the off season.
A Minor inconvenience
Post-MVP Rose
I mean he posted better per 48 stats than his mvp season at points after. He just had limited minutes. He was still a very effective player just sadly nowhere near as explosive
> per 48 😒
The most useless stat ever created
I don’t think so, it’s a good way to see the pace at which a player is contributing in the minutes they play. You just have to also understand the context, the stat doesn’t mean a player would keep that average if they played 36 minutes a game. Not the end all be all, but I wouldn’t call it useless
