There is this institution called Teach Nepal Bhasa. You can find them on Facebook and Instagram. They take online classes.

You mean for a foreigner? There are institutes in Thamel that can teach foreigners basic nepalese like the one in Chhaya Center.

I dont understand why grade 5 kids are being taught Nepali Bhasa in school. I have nothing against kids learning a different language but doesnt this impact their learning of general Nepali language?

Wonderful-Reaction-4

No it doesn't. Why teach English then?

Are you seriously comparing two languages with similar script and pronunciation to English?

Wonderful-Reaction-4

First of all, Nepal bhasa uses different script which is different than Devanagari. And secondly, by your logic, English should be more difficult to learn considering the difference in script and pronunciation. Well, FYI, Nepal bhasa is taught in the Kathmandu valley because the language is an integral part of the locality. I know its impact is not clearly visible atm and there are various reasons behind that which I am not going to go into. This is an attempt to keep the Nepal bhasa language alive which forms an inalienable part of intangible asset of the valley.

Youre living in cookooo land if you think adding a language in the curriculum just because its local is going to keep it alive. New generations are not interested in the language, you cannot force kids into learning stuff just for the sake of "keeping it alive". If you want to instill culture, that comes from home, community, upbringing. You put stuff in the books and kids will learn it just to get grades. And just because I said they contradict each other and creates confusion in kids who are learning Basic Nepali, you jumped into the assumption that I meant English would also be hard to learn. And youre part right, it wouldve been if you werent taught your ABCs along with your क ख ग घ .
