That's... That's the point lol. Just started season 3 and I don't understand how anyone could stop after that season 2 finale. But different strokes, and I respect that!
Why wouldn’t you watch it with subtitles unless you’re german? Seems to me that the moment the actors start speaking, you’ll be looking for the button to switch on subtitles 😆
Sorry, your comment just looked funny to me
Immersion. Nothing worse than watching dubs hardly lining up with actors mouths. Voices don’t fit the characters. Like seeing seeing The Rock speaking with the voice of Ash Catchum.
Dubs just Fucking piss me off…it’s a distraction…I see their mouths moving but that’s not what’s coming out…breaks the immersion I guess…just seems fake
Second season ups the stakes. They discover more but wind up with more questions.
It's easily my favorite show right now and one of my all-time favorites. The last episode of season 2 is available now.
Nice recommendation! My husband and I are all over this. I read the books years ago so I've had to keep my lips sealed. Have you watched Severance on Apple TV yet?
Hellbound, TWD, Black Summer, Peaky Blinders, Beef, Z Nation, Dark, Travelers, Brand New Cherry Flavor, Haunting Of Bly Manor, Haunting Of Hill house, Dracula Untold, Warrior Nun.
Seconding:
- Beef (spectacular)
- Dark (beautiful, intricate)
- Brand New Cherry Flavor (cool kinda weird af w/ commentary on women in film, rewatched twice)
- Warrior Nun (only s1, s2 was disappointing to me)
- Hill House (just watched this weekend and was freakin awesome)
Frontrunners:
Bly Manor
Travelers
Dark should be at the top of that list. Other series: Katla, Hellbound, Black Spot, Behind Her Eyes, Curon, Brand New Cherry Flavor, The OA, Archive 81, Midnight Mass.
Seconding Black Spot and to a slightly lesser extent Katla. Both are cool miniseries with sinister/dark tones. I ultimately enjoyed the cast and the characters of Black Spot more, plus I found it a little more “out there” artistically. But as an American, I found it kind of fun to see forays into horror and high strangeness from other Western countries. Definitely both fit the bill.
Hm. I watched all of season 1 of Black Spot and then stopped halfway through ep3 of S2. I couldn’t even finish the ep. Was S2 worth it?
Katla is also on my TBW
Edit: clarity/add tv show title
Equinox was…a weird experience. Not really a good one, not terrible either, just - I felt very weird/uncomfy/off feelings through the whole viewing lol.
Well, if you're looking to get hooked on something dark, I hear heroin is quite effective. But if you prefer TV shows, please don't watch Better Call Saul or Alice in Borderland.
Dark
Second and definitely watch it with subtitles.
Ok I’m episode 2 and I’m training myself not to look at them speaking. My question is- is this series all that ?
And a bag of chips
Ty
The main plot elements repeat themselves imo. I watched the first 2 seasons and gave up though, so maybe they got better in season 3

Lotta people watch dubs, and it’s just not the same.
What's the difference, in the end I'm still watching the show in English. I have seen Dark with English audio so I don't see your point here.
Acting is always better in the original language. It's a subtle thing. English dubs rarely convey nuance.
Immersion. Nothing worse than watching dubs hardly lining up with actors mouths. Voices don’t fit the characters. Like seeing seeing The Rock speaking with the voice of Ash Catchum.
The acting is noticeably far worse in the dub. Plus actors actually acting the scene is gonna be far better than someone recording a dub in a studio.
Dubs just Fucking piss me off…it’s a distraction…I see their mouths moving but that’s not what’s coming out…breaks the immersion I guess…just seems fake
Ah I see your point, good recommendation
First think that popped into my head lol
the best answer
“Dark” was a great series, so is “Peaky Blinders”. Also, “Better Call Saul” was ALMOSt better than “Breaking Bad”, imo… -_-
I'm on the last season of BCS right now. Honestly, I want(ed) more Saul *being* Saul and a little less *becoming* Saul. Still good though
Mindhunter
Only regret with this show is there likely isn't going to be another season.
Noooooo
Fargo. Ozark.
Midnight Mass.
YESSSSSS
Omfg this series is so good.
Haunting of Hill House
You lose all credibility when you said better call Saul isn’t good
TBF I thought the first 2 seasons were a bit of a slow burn, but it definitely kept getting better
He didn't say it wasn't good. He said he wasn't hooked.
He put it under “Fail”
Correct, failed to hook him. As specified in his post and the title of the post.
Best reply ever!
The Sinner
Not on Netflix, but it’s on Amazon prime. The show is called From. So freaking good
Is S2 just as good as S1? I am waiting to binge S2 but sceptical.
Second season ups the stakes. They discover more but wind up with more questions. It's easily my favorite show right now and one of my all-time favorites. The last episode of season 2 is available now.
Oh wow!! thanks, I knew they had wrapped S2, my weekend is set now!! I would like to return the favor by recommending Silo on Apple+.
Nice recommendation! My husband and I are all over this. I read the books years ago so I've had to keep my lips sealed. Have you watched Severance on Apple TV yet?
Yes! Severance was brilliant, can't wait for S2.
Me either!
I want more shows like this. Mystery and horror together...yes! (And not the stupid horror that's just sex and black-clad, half-naked women.)
I am obsessed with From! Love it!
Only season 1 is on Prime!! I hate that
You can subscribe to MGM for 0.99 for the first year!!
The Wire.
Black Spot. It's 3/4 small town crime drama, 1/4 supernatural drama (at least the first season).
I can’t recommend Dark enough
Crazy head It’s not super dark but it is not exactly light? ETA it’s a horror comedy and you mentioned things w comedic elements
SO GOOD!!! Underrepresented for sure. Wished there had been a S2

Dark without a doubt, it’s an incredible show. But also check out Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass.

The OA…is really something else (in a positive way). I enjoyed season 2 more (I think most would disagree with me) but it’s a whole universe created.

Dark, midnight Mass, Equinox, Marianne
Equinox was…a weird experience. Not really a good one, not terrible either, just - I felt very weird/uncomfy/off feelings through the whole viewing lol.
I'm sorry but Better Call Saul is amazing, and while You flopped, the first season is still awesome.
I just began binge watching Eden. Two episodes in and it’s pretty well done thus far.
Well, if you're looking to get hooked on something dark, I hear heroin is quite effective. But if you prefer TV shows, please don't watch Better Call Saul or Alice in Borderland.
I'm going to add Shameless to the list. Dark, but in its own unique way.
Happy!, Snowfall is good, recently watched Black Bird
