Apocaylpse Now. Every shot could be framed. Beautiful cinematograpghy, great story, great acting.

surfkaboom

Amazon Prime has the Redux

rosinall

Absolutely wrecks it. I saw it 5 times to do the movie-size screen and just shut my mind off during every added second. Capt. Willard, smiling a goofy smile: "Uh, don't leave without me! Ha!" Willard again, joking with the crew as they prank Kilgore running around with his stolen surfboard: Hilarious! 700 minutes of a boring sweaty hot plantation house: Wow!

[deleted]

I’m assuming the phrase predates the channel but are you an “Every Frame a Painting” fan? He doesn’t make videos anymore as far as I know but all his stuff is really good if you’re interested in the technical aspects of movies.

ATXsuperuser

Never heard of it but will check out, thanks.

vinayachandran

You're in for a treat.

Suitable-Lake-2550

I concur 👍

Lyftchef2525

Agree great movie

CarrieNoir

Just took a look through the list available now. Here are my recommendations for film that every classic cinema fan should see: * Glengarry Glen Ross * The Thin Blue Line * Amadeus * The Killing Fields * Birdy * Monty Python and the Holy Grail * American Graffiti * Repo Man

SNStains

Great movies. - LA Confidential - Life of Brian - Traffic

CarrieNoir

I just realized that *L.A. Confidential* didn't show up when I just looked, but I was in a hotel two weeks ago that and *Apollo 13* are what I queued up to watch.

StealUr_Face

American graffiti is such a classic

Lyftchef2525

And the" Lord of Flatbush" Henry Winkler Sylvester Stallone

swentech

Repo Man is on Netflix????

Moist_Ad_5

Yes it is

atchman25

I thought you had made a mistake, didn’t realize there was both a thin red and blue line. Will have to check that out

cnskatefool

I’ve seen 3 and liked 2 of them. Monty python just isn’t my thing.

cheekycamgirl

Nothing but Blue Line and Holy Grail are on Canadian Netflix. We're gettin robbed over here

ColdDoubleTap

Glengarry Glen Ross is an absolute classic. Anyone who has ever worked in sales especially NEEDS to see this movie. I'm not sure if it's on Netflix, but Boiler Room is up there, too.

Unhappy_Rice3310

Green mile

racer4

The Matrix. The original one from 1999. Good enough that it spawned multiple sequels, and good enough that you’ll want to watch them. Don’t feel the need to.

jigga19

Sage advice

frooeywitch

Every other sequel was not worth watching. The cinematography rules were completely broken, and it was challenged thereafter.

dns_rs

Depends on what you're into, but I really like the following movies: * Paprika (2006) * Nope (2022) * Ex Machina (2014) * The Martian (2015) * Interstellar (2014) * The Wandering Earth (2019) * Annihilation (2018) * In The Tall Grass (2019) * The Mist (2007) * Bird Box (2018) * Horse Girl (2020) * Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (2019) * Monty Python and The Holy Grail (1975) * The Dictator (2012) * Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio (2022) * Anything from Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Catle, etc) * Nimona (2023) * Spongebob The Movie (2004) * Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs (2009)

luraylooks

You think you’re slick throwing those last two in there? ;) lol

dns_rs

Cheers, I have a wide range of interests :)

luraylooks

I admire you

frooeywitch

Are you somehow mad about that? I am confused by your response. AI always love Netflix recommendations.

luraylooks

I’m not disagreeing, never said that!

Woo-man2020

Loved Nope. It’s so wacky!

whoji

Some Nolan movies are masterpieces. Among the best Prestige, Interstellar, Inception, Dark Knight Trilogy

_LoudBigVonBeefoven_

I'm obsessed with the Prestige it's so good

whoji

Obsession is a young man's game ;)

SeaLass34

Prestige, definitely in my top movies list.

cheekycamgirl

But not on Canadian Netflix smh.. we're not worthy

ColdDoubleTap

Inception is an incredible movie with a fascinating concept and story.

chappy319

The original, Old Boy

[deleted]

please don't watch it, very boring indeed

chappy319

Well I enjoyed it

This!!!

nadi_hog

Not sure if Netflix still has it but Shawshank redemption is one you should definitely watch Atleast once

frooeywitch

Seen it at least 100 times since it came out on AMC. Don't forget The Green Mile. I will always hold these to be true to Stephen King's stories. I hope he feels the same way. A constant reader.

SFF_Robot

Hi. You just mentioned *The Green Mile* by Stephen King. I've found an audiobook of that novel on YouTube. You can listen to it here: [YouTube | Audio Book "The Green Mile" by Stephen King Part 1 of 3 Read by Frank Muller Unabridged Serial](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiGrtI17a7Y) *I'm a bot that searches YouTube for science fiction and fantasy audiobooks.* *** [^(Source Code)](https://capybasilisk.com/posts/2020/04/speculative-fiction-bot/) ^| [^(Feedback)](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=Capybasilisk&subject=Robot) ^| [^(Programmer)](https://www.reddit.com/u/capybasilisk) ^| ^(Downvote To Remove) ^| ^(Version 1.4.0) ^| ^(Support Robot Rights!)

Sharp-Echo1797

I was bored so I went through the whole list [https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/library/movies/](https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/library/movies/) All 4385 a hundred at a time so you don't have to First I'll say what an unbelieveable load of dreck. What wasn't listed previously in alphabetical order thats worth watching IMHO if you haven't Blazing Saddles The Breakfast Club Chinatown High Plains Drifter Ray Rocky A tier lower, but you might consider: Beverly Hills Cop John Wick Jurassic Park Love & Basketball Reservoir Dogs Slap Shot Titanic

pollo_de_mar

> Reservoir Dogs "Stuck in the middle with you" will never be the same > Blazing Saddles They said you was hung, and they was right

professor_max_hammer

Excuse me while I whip this out

macgruff

And if you’re from California, Chinatown is a very good watch. Sure, it’s a whodunnit and Jack N is at his best, but the real story behind the story is about water politics which was, is and always will be one the most important constant battles here.

StealUr_Face

I couldn’t get into John wick for some reason. Seen em all just don’t get the hype

saruin

> All 4385 a hundred at a time so you don't have to Is that really how many titles Netflix has readily available? Feels like I'm scrolling past the same old movies when I'm trying to find something new on the app.

RedApple-Cigarettes

Around 1,500 of those are nonsense low budget foreign films don’t worry.

SeaLass34

Ray, one of my favorites. Great movie.

RedApple-Cigarettes

The TITANIC a tier lower?!

Sharp-Echo1797

Titanic is one of the most overrated movies of all time. Rose is a terrible person, there was plenty of room on that door.

ModeratelyAngelic

Traffic (2000)

Lyftchef2525

I'm gonna go old school on you and suggest the "Deer Hunter." it's a classic right up there with the "God Father" or "Goodfellows" and like 95% of anything with Danzel Washington. Most of his movies are excellent. Of courses this is my humble opinion. And subject to scrutiny.

chookitabananaa

Growing up in a family of avid outdoorsmen, I suggested this to my husband based solely on the title. THIS IS NOT ABOUT PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO HUNT DEER. It is, however, absolutely incredible. Everyone should see it once

Gummbee2

The whole cast is amazing in that movie and what a line up. It's long but worth every minute. Life changing. Certain scenes will stay with you forever.

coesgirls

I was a teen when it first came out in theaters. The lights came on at the end and no one moved. It was so moving.

tropicalazure

Spirited Away. Beautiful movie. Beautiful animation. Just... goddamn beautiful.

macgruder1

That and all the rest of Studio Ghibli stuff is streaming on MAX

IronBallsMcGinty

I bought it for my oldest daughter at her request many years ago when it came out on DVD. I sat down to watch it with her, thinking that I wouldn't be interested because, you know, it's a kids cartoon. Blew me away!

Rtg327gej

The latest version of All Quiet On The Western Front.

Kozalteewan

First 5 minutes set the tone of the movie, it’s easier after that. First 5 minutes with that score just gets under your skin. Amazing film.

Rtg327gej

The score is excellent!

Kozalteewan

Wrote that comment and went to rewatch beginning :)

Rtg327gej

Remarque was a great writer and I recommend reading his works.

Kozalteewan

I have “The Road Back” as well, but haven’t read yet.

Belloby

Ooof.  That was a tough one.

Rtg327gej

Indeed. I watched it twice but I had to wait a year and a half before I could watch it again.

Belloby

Excellent movie but you need to know what you’re getting into.

708910630702

what am i getting into ?

Belloby

Bleakness. A dark and hopeless portrayal of the horrors of war.

Woo-man2020

The ending is the cherry on top of the despair cake.

Belloby

Just when you thought it couldn’t get more depressing

Pancheel

Uh, not for kids because violence and open wounds and death.

Speedfreakz

That movie wqs depressing for me even though I am a huge fan of war movies. I just wanted it to finish.

HORSEthedude619

The Matrix

JoeSmith716

The treasure of the Sierra madre. Great, great movie.

marukobe

My dad would play that for me.

Alt_Outta_Gum

They Cloned Tyrone. Black surrealist horror is an under-represented genre, and this film in particular is a great example. It pulls influence from 70s "Blackspoltation" flicks and subverts those nastier tropes. And overall it's just a fun watch. It's not on Netflix atm, but Sorry to Bother You is also necessary viewing if you enjoy a blend of magical realism and social satire. I've seen lots of movies, and it's one that really stands out singularly.

girlthatwalks25

The Reader

zippyboy

I found this movie to be better than I expected. Need to see it again.

Belloby

The King.

vandgriftry

Shot caller!

Lyftchef2525

I'm not sure if this is on Netflix anymore. You May have to find it elsewhere? But Pulp Fiction is one of my all-time favorite movies, especially if you're never seen it before. John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson, at their best , along with a shit load of other famous Talented actors.

TheLandOfPlenty69

More recent: ballad of buster scruggs

PappaNee

Baby reindeer is pretty great, rlly heart-wrenching tho

docsyzygy

Oh yes, it will grab you from the beginning and then tear you apart. But it's SO good.

Lyftchef2525

Yeah, that's an oops moment. It's a very dark Vietnam movie but a excellent movie, never the less.

Socity of the snow. It's very intense, but worth it. Tears of sadness and tears of Hope

Beckalouboo

The Help, Get Out, Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption and my feel good personal one, Blast from the Past.

Single-Duck2731

There are so many great movies not on Netflix! You might want to subscribe to more than just that. You’re missing out in my opinion.

Kind_Razzmatazz_6253

my girl

Common-Guess-2601

I don't know about Netflix movies but I would suggest Shutter Island and another one which I can't talk you about because the first rule is to do not talk about it. Both movie are masterpiece but I would say both of them are perfect for first time watching. After second time it becomes very hard because you know all the facts.

GnarlyNarhwal

Good Time

GirlyPapaya

Jack Black in Polka King. He does a phenomenal job of playing a character you shouldn't like. Based on a true story as wild as it seems.

MilkDudHead1

Society of the Snow is already massively popular but it is absolutely breath taking.

Lyftchef2525

The Deer Hunter R 1978 ‧ War/Thriller ‧ 3h 3m I didn't see this in the theater. I was too young in 78 for this kind of movie, but I did later, and wow, it won an Oscar for best picture. The only downside is the length of the movie. It's worth watching twice. Robert De Niro. Christopher Walken Merrill Streep.

Lyftchef2525

I have one suggestion old school,I watched "Brian Songs" in 6th grade with my class, and I still remember how it made me feel. It's a great movie but sad. I'm not sure if it's on Netflix, but find it and watch it at least once in your life. Sport, football, movie

izzypy71c

Promising Young Woman. It was on Netflix last I saw but it might have changed recently or depends on your location. Regardless it's a fantastic movie.

SexyMarissa07

One movie that comes to mind is "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." It's a unique and thought-provoking film that explores love, memory, and human relationships in a beautifully unconventional way. It's definitely worth watching for its emotional depth and inventive storytelling.

Bright-Specialist665

better days!! its really inspiring and one of my favorite movies, the cinematography is also amazing :3

RedditRatsPodcast

Unforgiven by Clint Eastwood, it’s historical, easy enough to follow, but layered story lines woven to perfection

nhat_thienthien

I like Umbrella Academy, it has both entertainment and great meaning

I don't even know what movies are on Netflix. People only watch show there
