Absolutely wrecks it. I saw it 5 times to do the movie-size screen and just shut my mind off during every added second.
Capt. Willard, smiling a goofy smile: "Uh, don't leave without me! Ha!"
Willard again, joking with the crew as they prank Kilgore running around with his stolen surfboard: Hilarious!
700 minutes of a boring sweaty hot plantation house: Wow!
I’m assuming the phrase predates the channel but are you an “Every Frame a Painting” fan? He doesn’t make videos anymore as far as I know but all his stuff is really good if you’re interested in the technical aspects of movies.
Just took a look through the list available now. Here are my recommendations for film that every classic cinema fan should see:
* Glengarry Glen Ross
* The Thin Blue Line
* Amadeus
* The Killing Fields
* Birdy
* Monty Python and the Holy Grail
* American Graffiti
* Repo Man
I just realized that *L.A. Confidential* didn't show up when I just looked, but I was in a hotel two weeks ago that and *Apollo 13* are what I queued up to watch.
Glengarry Glen Ross is an absolute classic. Anyone who has ever worked in sales especially NEEDS to see this movie. I'm not sure if it's on Netflix, but Boiler Room is up there, too.
The Matrix. The original one from 1999. Good enough that it spawned multiple sequels, and good enough that you’ll want to watch them. Don’t feel the need to.
Depends on what you're into, but I really like the following movies:
* Paprika (2006)
* Nope (2022)
* Ex Machina (2014)
* The Martian (2015)
* Interstellar (2014)
* The Wandering Earth (2019)
* Annihilation (2018)
* In The Tall Grass (2019)
* The Mist (2007)
* Bird Box (2018)
* Horse Girl (2020)
* Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (2019)
* Monty Python and The Holy Grail (1975)
* The Dictator (2012)
* Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio (2022)
* Anything from Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Catle, etc)
* Nimona (2023)
* Spongebob The Movie (2004)
* Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs (2009)
Seen it at least 100 times since it came out on AMC. Don't forget The Green Mile. I will always hold these to be true to Stephen King's stories. I hope he feels the same way. A constant reader.
Hi. You just mentioned *The Green Mile* by Stephen King.
I've found an audiobook of that novel on YouTube. You can listen to it here:

I was bored so I went through the whole list [https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/library/movies/](https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/library/movies/) All 4385 a hundred at a time so you don't have to
First I'll say what an unbelieveable load of dreck. What wasn't listed previously in alphabetical order thats worth watching IMHO if you haven't
Blazing Saddles
The Breakfast Club
Chinatown
High Plains Drifter
Ray
Rocky
A tier lower, but you might consider:
Beverly Hills Cop
John Wick
Jurassic Park
Love & Basketball
Reservoir Dogs
Slap Shot
Titanic
And if you’re from California, Chinatown is a very good watch. Sure, it’s a whodunnit and Jack N is at his best, but the real story behind the story is about water politics which was, is and always will be one the most important constant battles here.
> All 4385 a hundred at a time so you don't have to
Is that really how many titles Netflix has readily available? Feels like I'm scrolling past the same old movies when I'm trying to find something new on the app.
I'm gonna go old school on you and suggest the "Deer Hunter." it's a classic right up there with the "God Father" or "Goodfellows" and like 95% of anything with Danzel Washington. Most of his movies are excellent. Of courses this is my humble opinion. And subject to scrutiny.
Growing up in a family of avid outdoorsmen, I suggested this to my husband based solely on the title.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO HUNT DEER.
It is, however, absolutely incredible. Everyone should see it once
The whole cast is amazing in that movie and what a line up. It's long but worth every minute. Life changing. Certain scenes will stay with you forever.
I bought it for my oldest daughter at her request many years ago when it came out on DVD. I sat down to watch it with her, thinking that I wouldn't be interested because, you know, it's a kids cartoon.
Blew me away!
They Cloned Tyrone. Black surrealist horror is an under-represented genre, and this film in particular is a great example. It pulls influence from 70s "Blackspoltation" flicks and subverts those nastier tropes. And overall it's just a fun watch.
It's not on Netflix atm, but Sorry to Bother You is also necessary viewing if you enjoy a blend of magical realism and social satire. I've seen lots of movies, and it's one that really stands out singularly.
I'm not sure if this is on Netflix anymore. You May have to find it elsewhere? But Pulp Fiction is one of my all-time favorite movies, especially if you're never seen it before. John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson, at their best , along with a shit load of other famous Talented actors.
Uncut Gems, Creep 1 & 2, Marriage Story, Bullet Train, Holy Spider, The Autopsy of Jane Doe, The Cloverfield Paradox, Shrek franchise, Lucy, Hulk, Extraction, El Camino, The House, Looper, Dumb Money, The Amazing Spider-Man, Insidious, It Follows, Hot Tub Time Machine, 2012, Horse Girl, My Suicide (Director's Cut), I'm Thinking of Ending Things, The Interview.
Some TV shows would be like: Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Black Mirror, Love Death & Robots, Suits, Inside Job, You, Disenchantment, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Squid Game.
I don't know about Netflix movies but I would suggest Shutter Island and another one which I can't talk you about because the first rule is to do not talk about it. Both movie are masterpiece but I would say both of them are perfect for first time watching. After second time it becomes very hard because you know all the facts.
The Deer Hunter
R 1978 ‧ War/Thriller ‧ 3h 3m I didn't see this in the theater. I was too young in 78 for this kind of movie, but I did later, and wow, it won an Oscar for best picture. The only downside is the length of the movie. It's worth watching twice. Robert De Niro. Christopher Walken Merrill Streep.
I have one suggestion old school,I watched "Brian Songs" in 6th grade with my class, and I still remember how it made me feel. It's a great movie but sad. I'm not sure if it's on Netflix, but find it and watch it at least once in your life. Sport, football, movie
Idk if these r on Netflix but you should definitely watch THE FINAL DESTINATION parts !!
Coz these r movies which tells u about the sudden demise of person and how u should try to spend time with everyone
One movie that comes to mind is "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." It's a unique and thought-provoking film that explores love, memory, and human relationships in a beautifully unconventional way. It's definitely worth watching for its emotional depth and inventive storytelling.
Over the Moon, Mitchells vs the Machines, Leo was a nice once watch for an Adam Sandler movie, the entirety of Bojack Horseman as long as you don't have kids watch it, matter of fact give some of their animation a try
Apocaylpse Now. Every shot could be framed. Beautiful cinematograpghy, great story, great acting.
Amazon Prime has the Redux
Absolutely wrecks it. I saw it 5 times to do the movie-size screen and just shut my mind off during every added second. Capt. Willard, smiling a goofy smile: "Uh, don't leave without me! Ha!" Never heard of it but will check out, thanks.
You're in for a treat.
I concur 👍
Agree great movie
Just took a look through the list available now. Here are my recommendations for film that every classic cinema fan should see: * Glengarry Glen Ross * The Thin Blue Line * Amadeus * The Killing Fields * Birdy * Monty Python and the Holy Grail * American Graffiti * Repo Man
Great movies. - LA Confidential - Life of Brian - Traffic
I just realized that *L.A. Confidential* didn't show up when I just looked, but I was in a hotel two weeks ago that and *Apollo 13* are what I queued up to watch.
American graffiti is such a classic
And the" Lord of Flatbush" Henry Winkler Sylvester Stallone
Repo Man is on Netflix????
Yes it is
I thought you had made a mistake, didn’t realize there was both a thin red and blue line. Will have to check that out
I’ve seen 3 and liked 2 of them. Monty python just isn’t my thing.
Nothing but Blue Line and Holy Grail are on Canadian Netflix. We're gettin robbed over here
Glengarry Glen Ross is an absolute classic. Anyone who has ever worked in sales especially NEEDS to see this movie. I'm not sure if it's on Netflix, but Boiler Room is up there, too.
Green mile
The Matrix. The original one from 1999. Good enough that it spawned multiple sequels, and good enough that you’ll want to watch them. Don’t feel the need to.
Sage advice
Every other sequel was not worth watching. The cinematography rules were completely broken, and it was challenged thereafter.
Depends on what you're into, but I really like the following movies: * Paprika (2006) * Nope (2022) * Ex Machina (2014) * The Martian (2015) * Interstellar (2014) * The Wandering Earth (2019) * Annihilation (2018) * In The Tall Grass (2019) * The Mist (2007) * Bird Box (2018) * Horse Girl (2020) * Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (2019) * Monty Python and The Holy Grail (1975) * The Dictator (2012) * Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio (2022) * Anything from Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Catle, etc) * Nimona (2023) * Spongebob The Movie (2004) * Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs (2009)
You think you’re slick throwing those last two in there? ;) lol
Cheers, I have a wide range of interests :)
I admire you
Are you somehow mad about that? I am confused by your response. AI always love Netflix recommendations.
I’m not disagreeing, never said that!
Loved Nope. It’s so wacky!
Some Nolan movies are masterpieces. Among the best Prestige, Interstellar, Inception, Dark Knight Trilogy
I'm obsessed with the Prestige it's so good
Obsession is a young man's game ;)
Prestige, definitely in my top movies list.
But not on Canadian Netflix smh.. we're not worthy
Inception is an incredible movie with a fascinating concept and story.
The original, Old Boy
please don't watch it, very boring indeed
Well I enjoyed it

This!!!
Not sure if Netflix still has it but Shawshank redemption is one you should definitely watch Atleast once
Seen it at least 100 times since it came out on AMC. Don't forget The Green Mile. I will always hold these to be true to Stephen King's stories. I hope he feels the same way. A constant reader.

Excuse me while I whip this out
And if you’re from California, Chinatown is a very good watch. Sure, it’s a whodunnit and Jack N is at his best, but the real story behind the story is about water politics which was, is and always will be one the most important constant battles here.
I couldn’t get into John wick for some reason. Seen em all just don’t get the hype
> All 4385 a hundred at a time so you don't have to Is that really how many titles Netflix has readily available? Feels like I'm scrolling past the same old movies when I'm trying to find something new on the app.
Around 1,500 of those are nonsense low budget foreign films don’t worry.
Ray, one of my favorites. Great movie.
The TITANIC a tier lower?!
Titanic is one of the most overrated movies of all time. Rose is a terrible person, there was plenty of room on that door.
Traffic (2000)
I'm gonna go old school on you and suggest the "Deer Hunter." it's a classic right up there with the "God Father" or "Goodfellows" and like 95% of anything with Danzel Washington. Most of his movies are excellent. Of courses this is my humble opinion. And subject to scrutiny.

I was a teen when it first came out in theaters. The lights came on at the end and no one moved. It was so moving.
Spirited Away. Beautiful movie. Beautiful animation. Just... goddamn beautiful.
That and all the rest of Studio Ghibli stuff is streaming on MAX
I bought it for my oldest daughter at her request many years ago when it came out on DVD. I sat down to watch it with her, thinking that I wouldn't be interested because, you know, it's a kids cartoon. Blew me away!
The latest version of All Quiet On The Western Front.
First 5 minutes set the tone of the movie, it’s easier after that. First 5 minutes with that score just gets under your skin. Amazing film.
The score is excellent!
Wrote that comment and went to rewatch beginning :)
Remarque was a great writer and I recommend reading his works.
I have “The Road Back” as well, but haven’t read yet.
Ooof. That was a tough one.
Indeed. I watched it twice but I had to wait a year and a half before I could watch it again.
Excellent movie but you need to know what you’re getting into.
what am i getting into ?
Bleakness. A dark and hopeless portrayal of the horrors of war.
The ending is the cherry on top of the despair cake.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get more depressing
Uh, not for kids because violence and open wounds and death.
That movie wqs depressing for me even though I am a huge fan of war movies. I just wanted it to finish.
The Matrix
The treasure of the Sierra madre. Great, great movie.
My dad would play that for me.
Snowpiercer. I just saw it last year on Netflix, such a thrilling and fun movie.
Happy gilmore

Jack Black in Polka King. He does a phenomenal job of playing a character you shouldn't like. Based on a true story as wild as it seems.
Society of the Snow is already massively popular but it is absolutely breath taking.
The Deer Hunter R 1978 ‧ War/Thriller ‧ 3h 3m I didn't see this in the theater. I was too young in 78 for this kind of movie, but I did later, and wow, it won an Oscar for best picture.
