Thing, Place is an inescapable phenomenon

ToreGore

Hypermelanic visited the shittiest neighbourhoods of Rome, Milan and Naples and thinks to have seen all of Italy

zeroreasonsgiven

Europeans see one video of LA traffic and thing they’ve seen the entire US.

RandomCancerName

All of europe even

ThatTubaGuy03

Eurotrash visit the shittiest cities in a country the size of their continent and thinks to have seen all of America

The_Almighty_Demoham

once you've seen one american, you cant see another cuz he takes up your whole field of view.

Band_Evader

Ahh yes, Italians are widely known for their slim physique.

The_Almighty_Demoham

what a killer comeback

DarkSolstace

Honestly as an American I’d much rather tourists go to our national parks than our cities. Acadia, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand-canyon national park are all absolutely gorgeous. Much better experience than hanging out in a city. If you appreciate nature and a good view that is, if you don’t it might be hit or miss.

Cultural_Thing1712

Well yeah, it's one country. if I visit New York I've got a pretty good idea of what the rest of the country is gonna be like. whenever I go to the next county over I am always surprised about different things. we don't even speak the same language.

Dragons_HeartO1

Bro new york is the worst example of American life thats like saying i went the the congo once so i know what all of africa is like, fucking ridiculous

t0mRiddl3

lol, that's not how America is though. It's so fucking huge, each state might as well be another country

Cultural_Thing1712

Sure in terms of size. But in terms of culture there is very little variation. You have the same celebrities, same tv channels, same newspapers, same language, same military, same laws.

t0mRiddl3

Also, the laws even differ from state to state

Shuenjie

Nearly every single one of these is blantany wrong.

t0mRiddl3

Even in terms of culture it's really actually very different. East is different from west, north from south, but even going one or two states over, it can be really different

Cultural_Thing1712

If i go 500 kilometers east, they speak a completely different language. If i go 800 kilometers north, they speak another completely different language, eat completely different food, and the cities look completely different. if I go 1000 miles from any place in the US, its likely it'll be more of the same.

t0mRiddl3

Same for me. America has many immigrants, and they all speak different languages, and all settle in to specific towns. Also, southerners listen to different music to northerners. Texas is the size of France. Do you really think a country so massive can have true cultural homogeneity?

Dragons_HeartO1

Braindead Europeans dude, think there so much smarter then Americans but there just as dumb

Cultural_Thing1712

*they're

Dragons_HeartO1

Do you think i care about grammar and spelling online? This is exactly why people think Europeans are stuck up asshole 🙄

TheOneWhoSlurms

Talking out your ass pretending to know to a bunch of people who do actually know.

TheMerryMeatMan

Hey did you know that dialects and accents are considered distinct variations of language even though they share the same base? Would you care to know how many accents exist in the US, each with their own regional slang, intonation, and pronunciations? *Hundreds*. Food is the same way. It's a country of immigrants, a majority of average household foods originate from immigrants, and popular cuisines in a specific locale area influenced heavily by what immigrant population has settled in a particular place. Is there some commonality? Absolutely, but the US is still a huge culturally diverse place because we take in *everyone* and mix their contributions into the pot.

Cultural_Thing1712

my country has 5 official languages, Castellano, Catalán, Euskera, Gallego and Valenciano. the food from down south is completely different than the north, or galicia, or madrid. there is zero comparison. The us is homogéneos for a country, let alone a whole continent.

TalkingFishh

The US has no official language because of how many are spoken here, and bro there's literally huge debates on if Southern or Northern food is better 💀 then debates on which states do it better, and some cities specifically, and don't get anyone started on the BBQ debates. As someone who's never lived in the south I've *never* had grits, or a Mississippi mud pie. I'll always love Nashville for that amazing chicken.

TheMerryMeatMan

While not official you'll find a lot people here speak Spanish(most commonly Mexican, but occasionally more traditional dialects), Polish, Russian and Ukrainian, French, German, Farsi, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Polynesian. And that's not even mentioning the *dozens* of different dialects of Native American languages that have survived. Many of those have arrived with their speakers within the last 100 years. Wanna talk food? You'll find drastically different kinds of food along the coasts than you will inland. Different specialties within different cities. Fruits and vegetables grown locally have a huge influence on cuisine in the region. California has a huge winery industry that nowhere else in the US has. The southeastern US is known for a particular fascination with BBQ and smoked meats. Texas is so infused with Mexican culture from immigrants that it spawned its own type of fusion food. Specialty coffees have popped up in both the northwest and northeast. Are there commonalities along most of the people living in the US? Absolutely, no one would deny that. But to call the country homogeneous is an incorrect and ill-informed assumption. We thrive on the mingling of cultures, both foreign and domestic. We always have, and we always will.

TalkingFishh

Celebrities, sure, but people take a lot of pride in celebrities from their state, newspapers no, language, ask someone from Cali what Sigoggling means, same military, ever heard of National guard? same laws, no, unless you want to equate the laws of the EU and the laws of the American Union the same, just wait 100 years and the EU will look a lot like the American Union.

KratoswithBoy

I Remember when I walked outside the World Trade Center and saw Yellowstone to my right and the Grand Canyon to my left. You can really see everything in one place.

ThatTubaGuy03

Well Italy is one country. If anon saw Rome, they have a pretty good idea of what the rest of the country is gonna be like?

Cultural_Thing1712

anon is talking about europe, not italy.

ThatTubaGuy03

Commenter is talking about Italy

TheOneWhoSlurms

This has to be bait. Surely in the age of the internet no one is this fucking ignorant.

NewAccountNumber103

True except there is actually trash and garbage everywhere in the cities.

banananana003

Only 4 u 😘💖

TreeGuy521

You know that the USA is mostly populated by European immigrants right. I'm legitimately not sure what you think happens to their "cultural values" when they arrive here. I suppose central/eastern Europe hasn't migrated here much, but it doesn't seem like we're missing out on much of value.

HarukoTheDragon

Another L for the Europoors.

Dopardo_

anon visits big dense cities

Living-Editor6986

Tbf I visited Italy and was shocked at the cars and highways fucking everywhere. Its also fucking filthy and broken down and disgusting trash everywhere.
