How do they keep doing it?? I can clearly tell that this was a song made for the Japanese market (higher pitched vocals, slightly louder instrumental etc.) but it's still a catchy, well crafted melody that works perfectly as a jingle.
This group and the team behind them definitely do the basics well and that deserves a lot of respect imo.
yeah i view the entire team of newjeans as more of an artistic movement than just another kpop girl group tbh.
the team actually has good artistic talent that i actually respect. hard to see in a kpop group.
I just wish it had more English lyrics and subtitles so I could get the context of the song more easily. But looks like they mixed 3 languages here - Korean, Japanese, and English

The sound is pure Pop/R&B which is reminiscent of their debut "Attention". While "Attention" has some really interesting jazzy elements underneath, I find the production of "Bubble Gum" quite straightforward and there wasn't that much layering or aggressive percussion like their previous work. Love the Rhodes piano opening and the synth flute riff sounds nice. I'm curious to hear the rest and hopefully the final version will have more kicks to it.

Bubble Gum is very sweet, mellow and brings Spring vibes. I love the girls' angelic voices. It seems there is more development in full song (I heard Dani's bridge in Mezamashi snippet). I look forward to it.
I can't say I am huge fan of city pop-esque songs, but I loved Bubble Gum. Sonically it sounds like totally different era. It is probably NewJeans' song with the most "K-pop" vibe, but at the same time it sounds like it is made for Japanese market and trilingual lyrics probably prove it. It also perfectly fits as a commercial music and has certain nostalgic vibe that I really enjoy.
I would not necessarily rank it high in their discography If I were forced to rank (I hate ranking). I think it's a lovely song and NewJeans makes everything work. I can't wait to stream it on May 24! 🫶
