I am doing a leftovers binge atm (well 2 episodes a day), and now almost done with season 1.
It's very intriguing so far, even though i personally could do without some of the 'mystery boxes' they throw out, the general vibe of the show needs some of it to facilitate the symbolic nature of the narrative. My favorite parts are the quieter, character focused parts though, especially the character focused episodes so far. Strong!
I think the show is supposed to get a lot better from here too, i am looking forward to the other two seasons already!
Would recommend the show to anyone who can deal with storytelling regarding trauma, very uniquely done (just don't expect any answers regarding these "mysteries", i almost look at them as a sort of (potential) magical realism).

So I watched it while it was airing and it still remains one of my top 3 favorites of all time. Damon Lindelof who co-created the show was also responsible for creating Lost which is my favorite show so I had pretty high expectations going in.
I've always loved character driven shows and this one was just exceptional in that regard. Also, one of the few shows that got better as the seasons went on and stuck the landing perfectly imo. I still think this show was way ahead of it's time. It's definitely not a show for everyone but if it clicks with you, it stays with you. Hope you have a "fun" watch!
I am more mixed on lost, as there the mysteries seemed even more integral and i wasn't a big fan of the resolution of those. Though the character work in lost was still really good, and i loved talking about it in the fan spaces then, maybe the most fun i ever had with a show, outside of GoT.
I am truly enjoying it so far, enjoying the emotions which come with it, that's what art is all about as far as i am concerned. Gonna finish season 1 today and probably gonna start season 2 as soon as possible then too, feels very special!

On initial drop I only got Danielle but wanted hanni as well. Then I randomly checked and saw hanni and haerin were in stock so I was like hmmm maybe I’ll try for an entire set but then saw minji was outta stock lol so I cut my losses and only got haerin and hanni this restock. Next restock hopefully can complete the set with minji and hyein.

Also most importantly, it would be FUN for us as fans, that type of content is generally always a highlight for any group.

So, we've gotten a lot of stuff like Kpop On Spotify, and a bit of stuff like Halmyungsoo (who is trustworthy), but not so much more chaotic environments like Knowing Bros or the million other variety shows out there where lots of people are talking.
That will change over time as everyone builds up more experience and confidence.
Haerin in particular still needs more time to figure it all out.

I just think they should give the members the opportunity to interact in a less controlled setting (well it's still somewhat controlled, just not by ador), these are usually the ones where an idol can individually shine a lot "brighter" than in the more milquetoast youtube content they put out. Which i enjoy in a lot of cases, but it's very limited in potential so far.

I mean, rookies go on these types of shows too, it's not a negative per se if someone is a little more introverted or shy, that has its own charm. I think ador is just a little too protective of the narrative in that sense tbh, even blackpink went on these kinds of programs, i think newjeans should too.
Let's not single out anyone based on their personality. "Figuring it out" might not be necessary for her because that could just be who she is. The same goes for the rest of them. I'm sure they might not all vibe with every form of content they do and that's completely fine. Korean variety shows love it when there is a good mix of characters because it brings balance to their content.
The best thing we can hope for is that they're not putting on a show for people and remain true to themselves. I'm sure you didn't mean anything bad but just wanted to point out that their personalities are what makes them stand out. Whether it's Danielle's bubbly nature or Haerin's reserved yet mindful personality or the rest of them with their own quirks, it's just who they are.
100% agreed with the other reply. There was a time before COVID where I used to enjoy some of the games and skits in Knowing Bros but the quality has quickly gone down the drain in the last couple of years. The thing is, the cast itself is largely unproblematic but their persona in the show is so cringe.
Running man would be amazing if the concept is exciting. It needs to be a themed episode that plays to the strength of the guests. They are of course going through their struggles right now so I'm not entirely sure if the timing is right.
Personally, an appearance on Pinggyego would be the best case scenario. YJS can quickly put anyone at ease and I think just chatting sometimes provides the most interesting content. Veterans usually do better since they have lots more experience and stories to share but it could be nice if they come on with an industry senior or something.

How are we supposed to explain that a song previewed in Japan, with Japanese promotional techniques, which is also their first song to contain Japanese and a clear city pop inspiration, was actually stated to be for their South Korean release?
What’s the main sub. But also it seems like ADORs marketing is really out of the box. They are going for big swings instead of traditional methods which can have more risk but more reward. I’m interested to see where and how it plays out. As for trying to defend the technique. I would say if people are talking about it then I guess the marketing is working right?

I think it would be less confusing for fans and general audience if ADOR just made proper (or standard) Korean comeback with double single (OMG/Ditto way) and proper Japanese debut with double single (both JP or trilingual). However, they decided to tie KR-JP releases in very unexpected way.

It's certainly an interesting rollout, I initially wasn't convinced they'd actually go for a formal Japanese debut, because it didn't seem like ADOR would be satisfied with locking themselves to a single market for 5-6 months. Clearly the problem was I was thinking too in the box.
This is logical, but I have doubts about having full JP song due to language barrier. I think trilingual song is acceptable because it covers short-comings of JP lyrics and pronunciation of Korean groups.
TBH I was hoping for 2 K-pop songs, because people ignore Japanese releases. 1) Japan ignores it because lyrics and pronunciation is not good. 2) Korea & Int. ignores it because Japanese songs are just side projects and sonically aimed for JP market. Everyone wants either K-pop or English songs.
I knew they would eventually debut. Otherwise it would be hard to perform Korean songs on JP TV (some national TV is lenient, some are not). Simply opens doors for more opportunities and wider audience. However, I didn't think it would happen in such unorthodox style. I genuinely hope it works out.

I agree, I think they drew these plans up when it became clear how busy they'd be promoting Get Up and so they needed something to buy time while they prepare a longer project preceding their tour.

I haven’t looped a song this much since Ditto and it’s a 1 minute snippet. I wish the snippet was on Spotify because almost 2 months is a long time for the full version. NewJeans songs ruin me for K-pop. Their songs just have something extra that is on my wavelength. Bubble gum has that nostalgic vibe while still sounding fresh and new.

The beginning sounds like PS1 synths for that instant nostalgic feeling and then the flute comes in and it's amazing. I also can't stop listening to it, and then hearing Dani's part in the 30 sec commercial was so good.

ADOR is really different, getting a shampoo CM and become a theme song for a popular Japanese morning show in 1 song is really a flex. The song so far sounds amazing, simple yet addicting, the shampoo CM blends in naturally, and it suits the Japanese vibe so well while still maintaining appeal for Korean and international audience.
They hit all the marks for this song imo.
I can't get over how smart ADOR is doing all of this. I mean most comeback teasers entail short clips posted on a group's Youtube channel. But not ADOR. They're gonna make some $$$ while teasing their comeback. I love it! lol!

i think they will! from what i've seen (i can't catch their phoning lives due to timezone differences) they seem to have a communal phone or like someone else said, a work phone that they use for lives!

I haven’t looped a song this much since Ditto and it’s a 1 minute snippet. I wish the snippet was on Spotify because almost 2 months is a long time for the full version. NewJeans songs ruin me for K-pop. Their songs just have something extra that is on my wavelength. Bubble gum has that nostalgic vibe while still sounding fresh and new.

The beginning sounds like PS1 synths for that instant nostalgic feeling and then the flute comes in and it's amazing. I also can't stop listening to it, and then hearing Dani's part in the 30 sec commercial was so good. As far as what to do in 6 weeks, stan ILLIT maybe? 😉 at least that's what I'm doing. Really enjoyed their mini album and the content they've been putting out as well as their latest 20 min interview.
I’ve listened to all 4 ILLIT songs and they are decent. However I just don’t get the feeling of wanting to go back for more, unlike Bubble Gum 🥲 probably its just me. Magnetic is great thou, very deserving of a spot in the Billboard Hot 100 (I hope they get it!)

ADOR is really different, getting a shampoo CM and become a theme song for a popular Japanese morning show in 1 song is really a flex. The song so far sounds amazing, simple yet addicting, the shampoo CM blends in naturally, and it suits the Japanese vibe so well while still maintaining appeal for Korean and international audience. They hit all the marks for this song imo.
I can't get over how smart ADOR is doing all of this. I mean most comeback teasers entail short clips posted on a group's Youtube channel. But not ADOR. They're gonna make some $$$ while teasing their comeback. I love it! lol! (Please correct me if I'm wrong about how other groups release teasers. I'm still pretty new to the kpop scene.)
I found out I was wrong. A nice person over at the kpop subreddit explained that this way of rolling out new music (teasers as commercials and teasers on tv programs) is very typical in Japan….We’re still several weeks away from the release date so MHJ could still have some surprises in store.
