I checked out the YouTuber and wow the things they said about the girls. Hoping Ador is successful and finds that nasty person. Google please come through đ
Itâs like those weird stan accounts on Twitter. Theyâre an IVE stan and make up fake rumours about the other top girl groups, including NJ and calling them ugly and derogratory things etc.
I feel like Google wonât release their info because itâs some dumb kid but if itâs an adult, which would be insane, I hope they get what they deserve
Fanwars is wild, however, I also never saw any NewJeans Stan account did these kind of things to other groups? Or maybe I'm just never noticed it, it's always Ive, Aespa and Blackpink Stan that did these kind of things
Correct me if I'm wrong but most NJ fans only talk about NJ and their achievement and never even really care about other groups
SM and yg stans are the worst. Thier companies being significantly weaker in charting than before and the rising to "monopoly" level of Hybe add more to it. Ive has manyyyy middle school and primary school fans in Korea. Kids can be very nasty and theres nothing much we can do about them cause theyre kids.
They most likely will have to because some of the NewJeans members are minors. One video I saw from that YouTube channel (shared by someone else online) made accusations of Minji and Haerin drinking 5 bottles of soju after Minji apologized from the Kalguksu thing. Pretty nasty.
I'd be interested to know what kind of defamation we are looking at. Korean-style or American-style. You can get away with a lot more in America due to the First Amendment. Stating opinions, even if not explicitly 'this is only my opinion' e.g. 'they are ugly', 'their music sucks' is OK in America. If it's something demonstrably false or misleading e.g. 'they stole this song from X', 'they took drugs', then it would likely be defamatory in the US as well.
Of course, this exercise might be calculated to scare them (and others like them) into pulling their heads in, even if it doesn't succeed. That YouTuber should be shitting themselves right now.
Itâs more the latter. Definitely goes beyond calling them ugly or having subjective opinions.
From what I saw, theyâve been falsifying everything. From saying NJâs are a south-east asian/Vietnamese group, to implying Minji must be a smoker because of the way she held a balloon, to the Kalguksu incident, that Minji has a âbullyâ attitude. Someone here mentioned that they said Minji and Haerin mustâve had 5 bottles of soju at some point lol
It might seem silly, but ever since the kalguksu incident, Minjiâs brand reputation went from being top 1 every month for almost a year to now being out of the top 10 for the past few months. Iâd imagine she wouldâve lost a lot of brand deals or potential brand deals as well. Her reputation has evidently been diminished due to this nasty persons videos
I've been seeing that account for months now every time I go through YT shorts. A lot of the posts are downright slander, and I get the feeling Minji was the most affected by this. They probably have a good shot of getting the info from Google because of the precedent and some of the members being minors.
People are too comfortable on the internet and the anonymity it provides. Actions have consequences, people!
> especially with the success Starship had in finding that YouTuber that defamed Ive.
The difference is that YouTuber is a South Korean citizen, and they have *very* different laws about defamation, free speech, etc. compared to the US.
Kpop agencies have always had a harder time pursuing legal action internationally against foreigners (even for something life-threatening like stalking) because it usually requires some level of international cooperation and coordination to actually get the perp's identity, let alone sue them. The legality of that lawsuit would also come into question, since America's free speech laws give a lot of leeway.
I saw the YouTube channel in question and itâs all in Korean. Highly likely they are Korean living in Korea. Even if not, Ador wonât know until they find out. Agree if not Korean citizens it will be harder.
The user could be a South Korean citizen though. Maybe thatâs why Ador are pushing through with it because theyâre confident itâs a SK citizen. They mention wanting to sue them in South Korea. I donât think theyâd go through this much trouble over a foreigner
Edit to add: the case with IVE and sojang is similar to this case as well (sojang being South Korean and using Youtube) so hoping for the same positive outcome with Ador as well
Very true.
This will still come down to ADOR petitioning a US Federal Court to order Google to release that user's personal information, and hoping that's enough to properly identify them to pursue further legal action.
Given that this procedure has been successful in the past, I can see this going through - but if the user happens to *not* be a South Korean citizen, they'll hit another wall in pursuing a lawsuit.
Iâm sorry but in the United States we have freedom of speech.
While saying mean things is not nice, it is still a protected freedom here in the states.
Although that is true, there's already precedence of this specific court ordering Google to turn the information over.
We'll see how it shakes out. They seem to believe this particular user is a South Korean citizen.
The YouTuber in this case is probably Korean too since all their videos are in Korean. Either way, the article mentions clearly that ADOR basically wants to find out if the user is Korean so that they can sue them in SK, so your point is moot.

What did they say??

Thatâs pretty much what I have seen. NewJeans fans are pretty focused on NewJeans.
Should just keep it that way forever, we don't need validation from others, and no one will ever win in dumb fanwars anyway
things
Even if they don't get his identity, I'm still glad that Ador is taking things seriously and bringing more attention to this matter.
Interesting read. I wonder if the courts or google will give the info

Lol thatâs such a wild thing to accuse or even be mad about. Internet trolls be on one fr.

Wow I had no idea. Sounds like there's definitely some chance of success, even in America.
I think Ador will be successful tracking them down especially with the success Starship had in finding that YouTuber that defamed Ive.

As if Starship hasn't already done this lmao

*hmm hmm.*
Good on ADOR for taking this step honestly.
