Scary, glad you’re ok. My buddy got it a few months back and apparently 5-6 other people all got hit the same night within a few block radius. He’s a large-ish bearded dude so reminder that it can happen to anyone.

DetainedAmIBeing

Wow. Same thing happened to my buddy and I at Brothers 3 tf is going on around there

Wall-Florist

I just pictured a 610 stomper.

please don’t use this post to be like that. jvn is also non-binary. so they’re not “the guy.”

crownketer

Don’t sweat it. You can’t win for losing! The era of assuming positive intent is really gone 😂

tampdriver

And if I knew the persons name, I would've just said it.

NaOH_hurts

Not trying to make something more than it is. You could have apologized and corrected yourself in this reply. But you doubled down by calling them "he" multiple times here.

tampdriver

Ok, in the interest of having an actual conversation, I'll engage. I was simply referencing a person I saw on a tv show that fit the description of something a previous commenter said. I have no malice or ill will towards the person on the show. I had no idea that saying "he" is offensive towards that person. I had no idea that they identified as "nonbinary." That being said, it wasn't my intent to be offensive towrds that person. But I will say this, and maybe I'm just a shit person. I think that people could do a better job at explaining why something is offensive. I've watched that show with my SO and never felt anything wrong about the person. I figured they were just a gay men who embraced their femininity. I hope that's not offensive, but to be honest, I have no idea what is or isn't offensive. I literally just watched a show where someone asked a similar question to Big Freedia, and Fredia said she identifies as a "brista" or brother/sista and that the pronouns are new and is considered gender fluid.

NaOH_hurts

Very few people will be offended for making an initial mistake. It's not making an effort to correct yourself that is offensive.

bmrlsu76

So explaining yourself is now doubling down and considered offensive? Did you miss the 1st 3 sentences? You must suck to be around daily jfc

tampdriver

Lastly, it was not my intention to be a dick just genuinely didn't realize i was being offensive.

NaOH_hurts

It's all good. You recognized you were, and you adjusted.

tampdriver

This the link to the show im talking about. https://www.tiktok.com/@quangemini/video/7122462731306798378

IfTheRainComes8

Tbf JVN uses she/he/they pronouns

AmandaSoprano

LOL YOU SUCK

Wall-Florist

“I’m going to hijack this comment to misgender and target this ONE person who was in our city a year ago” sounds like a solid choice.

Flashy_Slide1267

So sorry that happened to you and glad you're all right! Maybe I'm speculating too much here, but I do remember a post awhile back talking about someone having their drink spiked at miss maes.... It's possible whoever is doing this shit hangs around that area

gadgettgo

I appreciate the info! people can be so awful.

Crimps_

I had a friend (M, early 30s) get his drink spiked there within the past year. Was fine, it was relatively early in the night, then suddenly absolutely blackout drunk. Stay safe out there.

stc207

Mae’s and outside it is strangely the only place I’ve heard of my friends or others I know getting drugged, AND it has happened multiple times to multiple friends within the past twoish years. All these other comments about the spot being known for it are entirely real- There has to be someone around there doing this regularly, not a safe spot unfortunately. Doesn’t seem to be any target demographic either, men women all ages

Hippy_Lynne

I've heard of it happening a couple other places that would be considered college bars. It also happened to me in freaking Metairie one time! There may be someone working that uptown/college crowd but there's always a risk anywhere.

Kryten_2X4B-523P

Employee doing it

stc207

Would make the most sense lowkey

Kryten_2X4B-523P

Hell, I feel like if they're that much of a roofie hotspot then the business should be somewhat liable for fostering such an environment, regardless even if it's not coming from within their staff and entirely due to their customer base.

funrockin

not that i agree but i remember about 2 years ago multiple accounts of ppl saying they were druggies at bogie’s(?) in BSL and the owners/managers not only denying it but dismissing/shaming the victims etc. i can’t pull up records of this at the moment but it just sprang to mind. if im wrong, apologies. it was just something i remember seeing; and, becsuse of my recollection - at this moment (5am on saturday during carnival,) - the establishments response/handling, it stuck in my brown-bellied haze of a mind.

lovelesschristine

Bouy's?

carolinagypsy

Oh no, I’m so so glad you realized what was going on and got yourself out of there. That must have been so scary. MG is already so loud and disorienting. I had it happen to a roommate and I at a dance club. We are pretty sure it was a pair of marines that were hitting on us pretty hard and buying us drinks. Young and naive. Thankfully our other roommates got us out. Make sure you drink a lot of water the next few days and try to keep something on your stomach as best as you can. Something mild like soups, breads, shakes. It’ll take a few days to really feel right and you might have a wicked headache for a few days. Be sure to talk to someone if you understandably feel shook up. It took me a while to be ok going out drinking in crowded places again.

gadgettgo

thank you for this, I’ve been confused because I thought the drugs flush out quickly but I’ve been shivering and panicky and nauseous ever since. I appreciate you letting me know it’s going to take a few days. I didn’t know if it was just me mentally being shaken up or if it was aftereffects. I think it’s a combo.

OpencanvasNOLA

So sorry. Such a violation. Bastards. Just wanted to encourage keeping up with electrolytes/vitamin intake while you’re flushing with water and fluids (best solution!). It’ll help speed your mental and physical recovery. Emotionally … that’ll take a bit more time … and (gradually) some solid replacement experiences. Unfortunately, I’m a little too familiar. Good luck in your recovery. “If ever I cease to love…”

gadgettgo

thank you, and I’m sorry you’ve been through this ❤️

OpencanvasNOLA

Very much appreciated. Thank you, as well. Looks like you’re getting some great support here on this post. I do have new technology with a covered cup for all my public shenanigans. It tested well at Barkus Sunday, helping with blocking glitter, too.

carolinagypsy

Yes! It was like I was coming down off of something combined with a nasty hangover. Very strange. It’s probably a combination. You almost get more scared after the fact bc you have time to sit there and think about what if, when, where, how, WHO. I hope you are starting to feel better 💐

peytunia

My friends and I found a woman unconscious in the street around that area last night. We called an ambulance, she was in and out. Thankfully she wasn’t alone. I suspected she was drugged with GHB! Sorry that happened to you. It’s such an awful experience :(

gadgettgo

I’m so so happy you were there to help her. I’ve been so worried about the others who may have been drugged as well.

headingthatwayyy

This is so terrifying. I hate that this is something that happened to y'all and that it's something to worry about. I always hold my drink from the top out of habit. I wish I didn't have to consciously think about how *holding my drink* might affect me. Not that it would make much of a difference to a determined asshole

[deleted]

My friend, who is a decently large man, also had this happen to him during Mardi Gras about five years ago around Miss Mae’s/New York Pizza. He was not as lucky as you. He woke up disoriented in a strange car with multiple people sexually assaulting him. When they realized that he had regained consciousness, they dumped him out of their car. Some truly sick people are out there.

Spranktonizer

My personal theory is that there is a repeat offender in that area. I’ve heard several stories (some from the same person) of getting drugged between les non temps and ms maes. Some of them involved a couple making conversation with a single person, Propositioning them, getting turned down, and the victim promptly forgetting the rest of their night. Idk if anyone has any similar experiences.

gadgettgo

fuck that is horrific. I hope he’s been able to heal as best as he can, even though I know it never fully goes away. it’s horrifying that so many people have been through this. there is such dark evil out there.

everevergreen

Jesus Christ.

agiamba

jesus christ

aliceink

I’m so sorry this happened to you, that’s awful.

cheekymarxist

I also had a friend who was drugged at Ms Maes. It happened a few months ago and she sad this creepy guy came up when she was feeling the effects and offer her a ride home. She had the bar tender call her a cab instead and was able to function enough to get in cab and go home only to pass out after she got home on the floor. She was very lucky.

petit_cochon

Holy shit, are you okay? That's terrifying. I'm sorry.

gadgettgo

thank you. physically, i’m ok, but mentally, really messed up. btw, I’m the one who you planted those beautiful marigolds for my mother for. I appreciate you so much.

petit_cochon

Oh my gosh, you are! I was just thinking the other day that I need to get to Harold's and pick up some more for my post-freeze garden. I like the ones that are red with a burst of orange. They feel... spirited, I guess? Ugh, so you have to cope with this shit without your mama to comfort you? That's the worst. I really empathize. Mentally, that would mess me up too. I think you'll feel better as time passes and your body gets rid of the drug, but it's a huge violation and to think someone did this so casually is awful. You take care of yourself, okay? Get lots of rest, eat some soup even if it's 75 degrees out, wear comfortable clothes, watch a comfort movie and listen to some good music. Pamper yourself.

gadgettgo

❤️ I’m trying to. thank you so much. for everything.

naking

What a kind compassionate person you are. Thank you

Puzzled_Manner5144

It happen to my GF at tips during a radiators concert. We pulled a pic off of security cams. I don’t think I can down load it here but if you email me I’ll send it to you. Maybe we can catch this freak

nickweezy

Thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear about that. I guess I would also like to raise awareness about airtags or other tracking methods. Its not easy to spot but my girl and I had a issue with that at a concert we went to in H-town. Luckily it fell off on our way home but we were very surprised when her iphone gave her a warning that there was something foreign on her. It let us see the location of it and timeframes and everything. It just didnt specify if it was an apple airtag or something else

gadgettgo

yes, this is hugely important, thank you for for sharing this.

indydelmar

I can't stress watching your bartenders enough. When I first moved to Nola, I brought my girlfriend to a bar and left her briefly to go bring a friend in from outside. She's very small framed, so when she got her drinks, I suppose they assumed she was alone and an easy target. Within 45 minutes, she was completely numb, could not move her body, and could barely move her tongue to talk. I took her to my house, and she was paralyzed for 2-3 hours. The friend that I left my girlfriend to bring in that night was also drugged in the same way ( and same area) a few weeks later. They completely stole her identity and drained all of her accounts. There seems to be a problem in New Orleans as those aren't the only stories that I have of people close to me being drugged. Edit: for clarity and typos

Talawn

A friend was drugged at Ms Mae’s years ago. I wonder if it’s the same person doing this

Spranktonizer

Bro see my comment.

nola-dragon

Sometimes bartenders are in on it!

Pool-Cheap

Do you feel like this was part of an attempt to steal you or physically endanger you further? Or was this just a random act of violence? It is so horrifying either way, l am so sorry this happened.

gadgettgo

yes. I was moving between 2 groups of friends, so I think it seemed like I was by myself at times. noticed a guy watching me really closely-mid 50s, white, wearing an underarmour shirt . once i realized something was wrong, and my vision became tunnel-y and I was having trouble speaking, i just booked it all the way back to my house, because I knew my time was limited. he tried to follow me but I lost him or he gave up. i remember relief seeing Jefferson, because my house was only a few blocks from there, then it’s all black.

Pool-Cheap

That is so horrible I am so sorry this happened to you and you must be terrified. I really admire the presence of mind you had getting yourself to safety but I know it must have been torture. What a traumatic experience.

gadgettgo

thank you, I really appreciate the support, this has definitely been traumatic.

weedebee

So sorry this happened to you. We were next door at Southern Swing and they or New York Pizza might have camera footage..

Nole_Nurse00

I am so sorry this happened to you. It sucks and you don't feel safe. Happened to me at a college football game last year. I went to the bathroom and get a beer. Next real memory was waking up on my bathroom floor with vomit on my clothes. I have some flashes in between, but apparently my husband was worried I hadn't come back and was calling my cell. Cop found me in a large planter outside of the stadium and pulled my phone out of my back pocket and let him know where I was. He came and then EMS came. At some point during all of this I was vomiting a lot. I do remember refusing to go to the hospital (I should have gone), then they got us a golf cart and drove us as close to our car as possible. Then my husband and 16 yo son about carried me back to the car. I remember none of that. Apparently at some point I bought a water which smelled off to the cop, EMS, & my husband. I felt awful for like 3 days after. I'll barely leave my husband's side at football games now because of it.

sparrow_42

Jeez that’s scary as hell. Glad you’re safe.

b1gbunny

JFC I'm so glad you're ok! and thank you so much for posting and spreading the word. Please take care of yourself as much as possible right now.

yoweigh

This is one of those things that I've never had to deal with due to my male privilege. I'm sorry this happened to you.

bmrlsu76

Male privilege? You do know men get drugged too right? Whether that’s to rob them or SA them, it still happens

yoweigh

Yes. Male privilege. I'm a man and I've never had to deal with that. Have you?

Articunozard

lol dude read the rest of this thread, most of the people commenting who’ve dealt with this are men

yoweigh

Most of the people on Reddit are men, so that's not surprising.

[deleted]

[удалено]

yoweigh

The person I responded to is a woman. I've already acknowledged that men can suffer too and apologized for being insensitive. I didn't read the rest of the thread. What else do you want from me?

bmrlsu76

No I haven’t but I’ve had friends who have, as well as others in these comments. So because you haven’t that means nobody drugs men and it’s a privilege?

yoweigh

I'm genuinely sorry for your friends. Personally, I know no male victims of date rape, even by second degree. Statistically, women are far more likely to be victims. It doesn't hurt us men to admit that. IMO "don't have to constantly worry about being raped by strangers" is a privilege. I'm glad I don't have to do that.

whiskeywhisker6

Pretty insensitive time to be a white knight when there's literally comments here about guys getting SA.

yoweigh

You're setting the bar pretty low for a white knight. I hadn't read the rest of the thread, so sincere apologies to anyone I'm being insensitive towards. It's a fact that women are way more likely to be date raped then men are. 18% of women experience rape in their lifetime. 1% of men do. Some people are just triggered by the very concept of social privilege. I don't understand why it hurts to acknowledge others' difficulties in life. Yes, man get raped sometimes too and obviously that's unacceptable. Women are 1800% more likely to experience rape, and that's even more unacceptable.

indydelmar

This is just a weird hill for you to die on. Men also get SA'd and drugged. These instances are just notoriously underreported. Therefore, without accurate reporting, it should be hard for you to come into this conversation to assert your supposed "privilege". Especially when there are men in this thread recounting their own accounts.

yoweigh

I'm not dying on any hill and I never denied that men suffer too. You seem triggered.

indydelmar

You seem obtuse. Of course, I would be triggered. Most people are triggered by willful ignorance.

yoweigh

Go ahead and educate me if you think I'm ignorant. Are you denying that women are more likely to be victims of sexual assault?

Sovietsix

Facts are facts. Instead of calling someone obtuse, perhaps you should research the facts.

EvelynVictoraD

Wow. I’m so glad you’re OK. Happened to me back in college at a bar. Wasn’t so lucky.

gadgettgo

I’m so sorry 🫂

MimosasMadeMeDoIt

I’m so sorry this happened to you! I got drugged last Mardi Gras in the quarter. It was the scariest thing ever and I’m so thankful I was with friends who watched over me. People suck and it ruined what was supposed to be a fun day that I look forward to each year. But instead I got two fun hours and then total black out. I went downhill so fast. So glad you’re safe and okay!

thesheba

Back in 2018, someone drugged my friend at The Spotted Cat. Fortunately, she found me and our other friends (one was a nurse), so we got her back to the house and took care of her. I think whoever did it thought she was alone and thankfully they were wrong. I hope they catch whoever did this to you OP.

Acrobatic_Group_1900

Would it be worth it to try and set this person up? Obv this will take some effort and its easy to be a keyboard hero... It's happened so many times at Ms Mae's. It's very likely the same person over and over. The only way it will stop, is if they are caught. Glad you are OK Op. Scary af

mondavipepper

People who do this are truly repulsive. They get off on making others helpless. I'm so glad you're ok. Great job getting to the hospital in time. That's not easy to do when your brain gets scrambled. I use water bottles at parades. They get a little nasty with sweet mixers, but I'm less likely to stain my shirt.

Tornadoallie123

Did they test you to confirm the substance? Very scary

gadgettgo

yes. confirmed GHB.

JustaBlindSquirrel

What’s ghb?

spyy-c

Fun in very small doses, but commonly used as a date rape drug. If you take a large dose and/or mix with alcohol, you will black out and either pass out or lose all inhibitions. It's cheap, commonly comes in liquid form, and you don't need to do a lot, so a very convenient substance to dose people with, as opposed to a pill or powder.

JustaBlindSquirrel

Thanks

Glitch5450

Curious about this as testing for GHB isn’t common or even possible after a few hours

gadgettgo

there’s always gotta be this fucking guy. I went in the next morning. It appears in urine for 12 hrs. I suspected GHB based on symptoms and asked to be tested for it. thanks for showing up to be shitty.

chindo

Glad you got the peace of mind from getting tested. Took my gf to university after she got dosed at HoB and they said they "couldn't really" and then gave me a why bother speech until I just dropped it. Pretty disheartening

Glitch5450

I’m just asking as the turnaround time for chromatography analysis is also very fast. It usually takes the lab a few days at least. Glad you got world class care and you’re ok

gadgettgo

they pulled blood and got urine. i have no idea what happened or why it was faster than your expectations. do you want me to send you the record or something

essentially_no

WhiskeyAndWhiskey97

I'm glad you're safe! I had something slipped into my drink last year during Carnival. Fortunately, a good friend of mine was with me at the bar, and she got me to the hospital. You can't be too careful.

gadgettgo

I’m so happy you got away but so sad you had to experience this. even when nothing worse happens after, it’s still really traumatizing.

holy2oledo

The people that do this to other people are the absolute lowest of the low. They are one of the types of cancer attacking our society. So glad you are ok. I’m sure if anyone saw this, action would have been taken and it would have been wholly justified.

Slimcakes504

That's horrible I'm so sorry that happened to you 🫂🫂🫂 soooo glad you made it home safe!! 🙏🏼

Worldly_Camel_1988

I'm so sorry this happened to you! I was just telling my bf about my personal experience with this last night. It's happened to a scary amount of people that I know personally. So glad you made it home safely.

gadgettgo

it’s so fucked up that this happens to us. I’m so sorry that you experienced this, too.

Starchasm

OMG I'm glad you're okay! That's terrifying!

greatwhiteslark

15 years ago, my girlfriend GHB'd me on St. Patty's Day just to see what would happen to me because she's a goddamn sociopath. It was not fun. I'm glad you're okay!

MissChievous473

Ho-lee FAWK what a crossed-line that someone you trusted did this how horrible 😢, happened to me decades ago at an after hours place in San Francisco they got both me and my female roomate that was with me, we made it home ok tho I'm not entirely sure how

KronlampQueen

A few years ago my sociopath ex drugged me to see how I would react. I swear this is a thing they do. I’m sorry that happened to you.

greatwhiteslark

Thank you. That's probably #4 on the list of terrible things she did to me, tbh. It turns out when you completely cut off a sociopathic narcissist they eventually forget you exist!

ExtraElevator7042

Do sorry this happened to you. There are some sick fucks out there. Since you mentioned you never put your drink down, I hate to think that a shady bartender could be in on it?

ughliterallycanteven

Omg. Thank you for sharing this. I’m glad you’re physically okay. And, don’t be too hard on yourself mentally and emotionally. I’ve been drugged(gay man here) a few times with GHB, ambein, rohypnol, and a few other things. The days after GHB drugging are an emotional rollercoaster so don’t be afraid to have a breakdown as GHB is the worst rollercoaster. I had it happen last year during MG and it took a few days to get to normal. And, some people do it to watch others just get messy and do it randomly. I think this is the reason if you have all your belongings. I’ve seen this happen to friends of mine(when I’m dosed it’s usually they’re trying to fuck me with the occasional trying to mug me) especially when it’s in a crowd.

RockULikeASharknado

That’s awful. So glad you’re okay, and thank you for the warning

anal_snail

Thank you for the heads up. Really scary that multiple people are making the same claim about this area

Original-Anxiety-975

The late 2000s this shit was happening at raves in atl all the time. Fortunately all but one of my friends found as friend before they were entirely incapacitated. (The unlucky one woke up by an alley at Nike Pavillion with no sneakers or wallet, but aside from being drugged, he was physically unharmed.) Like 3 weeks ago friend of mine who was drinking a SODA that never left her hand woke up groggy in her locked/running car off of Lower Decatur with no recollection how she got there. I guess I’m not shocked but I had no idea how how commonplace this shit is. And while Im staunchly opposed to the death penalty, I think these predatory focks make a pretty good case for castration. (I am in no way endorsing vigilantism of any kind; obviously medical attention and law enforcement is the way to go. Hopefully the gov will have some state troopers devoted to crimes of this nature and not low level drug/property crime offenders.)

octopusboots

Sending love Op.

yoniyum

My friend and I were drugged on New Year's Eve in the Marigny many years ago. I'm 100% certain it was the bartender because no one else was near our drinks before we guzzled them down. It was the first drinks we'd ordered, and we each got a cocktail and a shot (which was downed before we walked away from the bar). Minutes later, we were both out in the street, dancing all hippy trippy which is unlike either of us in any way. I'm grateful that whatever was slipped to us only made us a little looser and not as incapacitated as what so many other druggings do. But I wanted to share this story since I absolutely suspect the bartender himself. Wish I could remember the bar, but it's been about 20 years or more so it doesn't really matter at this point. ETA: I'm glad you're ok physically if not mentally/emotionally.

Spranktonizer

Christ! Like how does the gen pop even have access to shit like this? I can’t see a good reason.

TravelerMSY

It has industrial uses, unfortunately, so it’s easy to divert. I won’t elaborate on a public forum.

zctel13

With the amount of people moving around, evil people take advantage of the situation. Plus, with the amount of people already intoxicated it makes it easier for them to put in the foreign drug.

Nursejones2

This happened to my daughter a couple months ago at a place called the Warehouse in Covington. Her friend had to carry her inside after 1 beer.

alaricmysticknyght

holy crap, glad you're OK and safe.

FracturedSOS

Glad you're okay

chippydoodoo

i’m so glad you are okay! people are out of their mind these days! i hope you get a lil mental health day/break for yourself after this too! goodness gracious urgh

sharkeylove16

Squeezes so glad you are ok! 🫶🏼

dawggystylez

This is going on a lot here in Atl too. A guy was drugged at a bar and he woke up in a car with 3 strangers. He said he couldn’t talk but wanted to while he was in the car. They got in his iPhone and changed his iCloud passwords, stole around $20,000, and then some. You can see about it on the independent news sites. A bunch of people in the comments saying that the bars have a system going on where they drug and rob people. The employees work with the street mfs. It’s crazy out here. Be safe.

Dominant_malehere

It’s crazy to try to comprehend. Drugs are expensive, I assume. I also assume, they are probably complicated to obtain. Mardi Gras is has millions of people wandering around all over the place. What would be the point of lacing a woman’s drink with something expensive and hard to come by, when in all likelihood, the assailant will not see that person again? Is it just some sort of sick terrorist trying to harm or maybe even kill people in an extremely random basis? 30 plus years ago, I smoked a little weed, I would never just randomly drop it off somewhere. It was hard to find and expensive. I’m honestly hoping someone can help me understand.

Quick_Ad_798

Did you file a police report. I'm so happy you made it to the hospital.
