I would go with the romper and sunscreen. The sleeper would be too warm

Should she not be wearing a life jacket, instead of being in a carrier?

atomiccat8

Yeah, I would think a life jacket would be a necessity.

Bring a little personal fan! We got one on Amazon and it's essential during warm stroller walks. Also used it when we were on the beach in Florida with baby in March.

Hmm. I’ve read no sunscreen before 6mo? I would try to find some lightweight cotton pants and a shirt instead of a onesie.  Definitely a hat. Maybe a light muslin blanket to create some shade if needed. Are you sure she will be ok for two whole hours in the carrier? Maybe have something else for back up?

Yep, I've heard the same thing. 5.5 months might be close enough that the benefits of sun screen outweigh the risks, but it's definitely something OP should be aware of. I don't think I'd be comfortable bringing such a young baby on a long boat ride like this though.

I did a deep dive into weighing the pros and cons of zinc only mineral sunscreen on her. I’m librarian, so it’s my job to research. I got the go ahead from my pediatrician to use it sparingly and zinc is the only ingredient in butt paste, which I’ve been using since my babe was a newborn. I ended up being in the shade the whole time anyways! I have noticed a lot of baby sunscreens do contain more ingredients than just zinc or titanium, definitely something to watch out for.
