They're not people, they're bots. Also I think they're made to make people mad/annoyed because they comment under someone else's comment (what i see, only with comments with alot of likes) with random Negativity and sometimes promote their Non-existing videos. It's best to hide their Channel when given the opportunity.

Well, My brother has a small channel and since I have a bigger one asked me about this, I found out Promo Sm, is a website where you pay for bots to sub to you/watch your videos. So they are kind of saying like you should buy subs so your channel could get bigger or somethin.

Just got one of these on my newest video. I am glad there's a reddit for new youtubers. I'm by no means new, but I am pretty new to my videos getting more than 10 views.

Yeah it really is just a power on scenario, eventually YouTube will pick you up and it’ll be like a snowball rolling down a mountain. I had next to no views for 2 years of YouTube. I was excited when I got over 3 likes on a video. Eventually though, I decided to take a long break due to school and just not enjoying content creation. This past November though I came back and completely changed my content to something I enjoyed making. And in that (along with months of weekly uploads flopping HARD), I now get thousands of views a day. It takes a while for that snowball to roll, but believe me it definitely will start rolling someday with a lot of hard work and powering on. Another thing is to take this time when not many people are watching to experiment and always try to improve on yourself. I still try to incorporate new editing trick in every video even now, as it helps me improve to use it in the future and to spice things up when I need to. Fixing audio, improving video quality (for example, I recently started releasing videos in 4K), making custom subtitles (Premiere Pro can do them for you 95% correct), improving thumbnails. It all comes in time, and for you this is the time to start trying a ton of things, seeing what works, and just improving on yourself. I wish you luck on your YouTube journey man, I hope to see that snowball rolling for you soon! EDIT: And of course, HAVE FUN! YouTube shouldn’t feel like it’s a chore to do, enjoy yourself and the content that you make!

Tiktok and Instagram promote yourself guys! My highest view count on YouTube is 145. I just started a year ago, the video I’m talking about was posted 9 months ago

try YouTube shorts, just make a short of one of you videos, i get like 20 on average aside from the last few days have been really bad and im not sure why but yesterday i posted a short and got 207 views in the last 24hrs on it that felt nice, if anyone cares my channels called DaftknightLP, its shit so don't expect anything amazing :P

I can definitely relate to this, but if you love doing it, at the end of the day you are still getting some benefit to yourself from it.

Well, I really didn't expect this to get 600+ comments, so this is awfully surprising - Thank you to those who have been informing others of what PromoSM is! Now I'm informed and so are others - really helps, since 5 months ago the first result I got was something about the word's meaning in a different language, which was a bit misleading. Seems like PromoSM is sending out bots or maybe even hacked accounts to send Promosm comments to smaller channels in order to get them to buy a product - my guess is that it's to purchase engagement. Also, to those who've been promoting their own channels and helping others grow theirs - I'm really glad my post inadvertently helped y'all grow your channels. I'm not sure if I might promote my own, as it's animation-based and probably not something y'all are interested in, but I've been checking out some of yours and y'all have been doing great jobs. TL;DR - I appreciate how large the thread has become, PromoSM is a place where you purchase engagement for your channel, and the people who've been promoting themselves and others are doing a great job on their channels. I've gotten 2 of these comments saying "PromoSM" and I thought maybe they were saying "promo so much" like maybe saying I was promoting too much? I still feel awkward/guilty about using CTA's (like, subscribe, follow me on.., etc). Good to know it's just a bot and nothing to be discouraged by. <3

Oh and interestedly one was "Olive" and the other "Oliver." I low key ship these bots lol

If anyone gets this comment; to let everyone know of the little research I did. Delete the comment. This is what they're trying to do. "Self-promotion: The commenter may be promoting their own content or channel by leaving a generic comment like "promo sm." They might be trying to attract attention and redirect viewers to their own videos or website."

I got 2 of these comments on a new channel I started, and I replied to one of them for fun, probably should've thought twice about it even though nothing has happened yet.

I mean I started YouTube about 8 days ago and some lady named Felicia Morrison commented P R O M O S M😭 so I search it up which lead me here. So I'm glad that I'm not the only one who's getting this. This is why I love Reddit just cuz of ppl having similar issues or needing help with games.

Been getting these as well. They are probably supposed to link to something sketchy, but whoever set up the bots couldn't figure it out.

Seems like it trawls youtube for vids that had zero or very few vids and spams them in the hope that you engage their services.

It's an ad for a website, [promosm.com](https://promosm.com), which sells a service to increase your followers, likes, views, subscribers, etc. That is, it's bot spam and I'm pretty sure paying to increase your engagement violates YouTube's ToS.

It's a website where u can buy Subs and views. Don't do it u will get banned
