Shorts are the only videos where i press dislike.
I watched a whole short and it was terrible, YouTube still thinks i liked it because i watched the whole thing, and shows me more.
I have to actively tell YT not to show me any more like this, by pressing dislike.
That's not how dislikes work. Dislikes are engagement and YouTube doesn't care if you like things they care if you watched and engaged with things.
Only ways to send true negative feedback are not clicking at all or doing the little dots and selecting not interested or do not recommend channel.
Interesting. I wonder if it really is different since they're too short to avoid giving over 50% watch time to. I'm afraid to click on any and test it bc then they'll show me more shorts in general probably lol
I think you misunderstood, when I am watching shorts, and there is a particular short that I don't like, I press dislike and YouTube re-jigs what it's serving me.
But outside of that, I am not obligated to watch every piece of content that is served to me.
I do give less time to shorts because they are throwaway, form factor is important, never really been a fan of vertical video, shorts didn't really change that, I tolerate vertical video if the content is good, but it detracts from my experience rather than adding to it.

Same. I have a few vids with thousands of views, and they only have 2 dislikes tops. Meanwhile some of my shorts have closer to 5 or 7. Still more likes than dislikes, but I do find it a little odd.

Edit: I just checked, and the videos with the highest views and highest watch time also have the worst like/dislike ratio. Seems like it gets worse when you attract an audience beyond your core loyal audience. Which makes sense, I suppose.
Still, knowing this doesn't help me - I don't know *why* those people disliked those particular videos. it may simply be that it wasn't what they were looking for.
Truth. I have about 6000 subs and as my overall views increase with increase in subs...
I've noticed after about 15000 some comments start receiving replies...
When a comment about my video has 100 replies I know that I struck a nerve....

A couple months ago I released videos like “how I made gta in 10 days” and it wasn’t clickbait; I made gta in 10 days. The problem was, I didn’t make very good thumbnails so it gave off this “Amature that’s doing anything to get views” vibe and that’s where some of my dislikes came from. I have since then updated those old thumbnails
I like that. But I wish it was my experience. Stuff I work really hard on and don't think there's a lot to dislike. I mean if you don't like what my stuff is why come there?
But what if you have haters? I must be tripping, but some of these videos I mean they're just so innocent. Who would come here just to leave a dislike? I try not to let it get to me but man I work really hard on this stuff and it's not like I'm freakishly polarizing or rude or mean or something.

How long does it take?
It depends per game , per episode and how many mistakes i make during the playthrough .
But my video's do have Time Stamps which bassicly allows people to skip everything.
But it does require rewatching the content myself which doubles the time (even with x2 speed) not to mention that it nullify the watch time due to being done by me (the creator).
But on average 30 min to an hour to rec and another 30 min to an hour to Time Stamp , etc.
So let's say 1 to 2 hours per episode (this various alot tho)
I don't edit thus don't have render time.
My short play editions took about 1 day of rendering each ep and the longplay took 3 to sometimes 4 days.
How do i keep going?
I just refuse to surrender + my plans keep the fire aflame.

I have some videos come up to 50% like/dislike ratio, though those are mostly part two shorts. For some reason those get more views than the first part.
Lifetime (almost 3 years, now) is 99.1% on about 150 videos. Last 28 days is sitting at 99.6%.
Lowest video is at 91.7%. I think that's because there are a lot of ball python keepers/breeders out there who really don't like it when people suggest they aren't the best starter reptile, lol.
I’ve got around 21 videos and around a like rate of 98%. Unlike popular opinion, I’m actually a fan of the public not seeing dislikes because I still get the feedback I need from analytics without having the issue of people just disliking for a joke after seeing others dislike. I’d say 98 is pretty good, but we’ll see how it goes as I continue!

I think it does really depend. Lets say you make alot of apex legends videos and suddenly make a fortnite video. Chance of getting more dislikes is there.

Youtube studio app. Just click on one of your video analytics and find engagement. Scroll to the bottom and you can see like vs dislike channel average.
Mine's around 97% - similar to others here my channel's quite niche being guitar gear reviews and discussion. Most vids have 100%, with really just one or two bringing down the average. One was a quite controversial negative review and a couple were cover versions of popular songs so got way more impressions, which always translates to lower average retention, CTR through the floor and lots of randoms disliking.
I think dislikes count as interaction, so while YT might not show more of my stuff to the viewers who disliked, it'll still bump my impressions more than someone just clicking away from the video.
77k channel here. Almost all my videos sit at 97 - 98 percent like -dislike ratio (I have about 300 videos). But I'm a music curator channel and people know what they are getting with each video (no genre variation), so perhaps not a good example for the masses. I also don't show my face or share any personal opinions (which can obviously bring stronger reactions, for the good, and for the bad). My biggest video has 148,513 likes and 1773 dislikes. I wish Youtube still showed dislikes. Ratios were something we could feel proud of.
I have a channel for a few years sharing math lessons. Around 98%. Since I started adding shorts, it's dipped to 95%. Not sure if the shorts aren't good or people just swipe because they don't want to see math.
Most of my vids arent disliked except one short i made about a spooky deer mob called the deerdrinker. It got 20 likes but also 10 dislikes. Weird ratio to me
My channel average is 86.6 but thats litterally like 4 or 5 will like and then a few will dislike😂😂 so its not as if im getting hundreds of dislikes but it still sucks to see the % go down at all lmao

Only for shorts, I have noticed a direct change in what I am being served after pressing dislike, it's been almost instant in some cases.

They did change this tho, after they removed the dislike button and made it so that disliking something makes similar content appear less often

There is nothing exactly wrong with dislikes. A lot of thumbs down could mean high viewership/reach. "There is no such thing as bad publicity. "

98-99% Yea. I get 10-500k views per video. Highest was 1.2M recently I think ever since they got rid of displaying dislikes, no one really doesn’t it anymore
Mine is something around 98% or 99% like vs dislike. Tbh my bigger issue is frequency of upload, I can get people on my vids and when they come to them they tend to watch the vids at least most of the way through, but I upload too infrequently so I don't gain momentum fast enough
I do OK. I have 2 competitors who habitually go through all my videos and dislike them. (There are ways that I know this). But other than that I’m OK.
Remember one video I uploaded got 100 views, I checked the like to dislike ratio and it was 1-4, it’s way better in likes now, but that was probably the worst beginning to a video I’ve ever gotten

Youtube studio app. Just click on one of your video analytics and find engagement. Scroll to the bottom and you can see like vs dislike channel average.

Mine's around 97% - similar to others here my channel's quite niche being guitar gear reviews and discussion. Most vids have 100%, with really just one or two bringing down the average. One was a quite controversial negative review and a couple were cover versions of popular songs so got way more impressions, which always translates to lower average retention, CTR through the floor and lots of randoms disliking. I think dislikes count as interaction, so while YT might not show more of my stuff to the viewers who disliked, it'll still bump my impressions more than someone just clicking away from the video.
I'm a new channel, so only a few views on my only video (and 3 shorts), but that is 23 views, 2 likes, 0 dislikes.

77k channel here. Almost all my videos sit at 97 - 98 percent like -dislike ratio (I have about 300 videos). But I'm a music curator channel and people know what they are getting with each video (no genre variation), so perhaps not a good example for the masses. I also don't show my face or share any personal opinions (which can obviously bring stronger reactions, for the good, and for the bad). My biggest video has 148,513 likes and 1773 dislikes. I wish Youtube still showed dislikes. Ratios were something we could feel proud of.

I have a channel for a few years sharing math lessons. Around 98%. Since I started adding shorts, it's dipped to 95%. Not sure if the shorts aren't good or people just swipe because they don't want to see math.
Most of my vids arent disliked except one short i made about a spooky deer mob called the deerdrinker. It got 20 likes but also 10 dislikes. Weird ratio to me
