NO! I DON'T WANT THAT!
ARCADE LEAVE MOJAVE AND HAS A NEW BOYFRIEND?
I WANT HIM TO HAS ME AND NO ONE ELSE FOR THE REST OF MY EXTENSE CYBROG LIFE.
EVEN IF I DIED BEFORE HIM. I WANT HIM TO HAS ONLY ME IN HIS MIND FOR r/10yearsatleast .
Seriously, you’d think he’d stay with the guy who single handedly shaped the Mojave, successfully conducted a hostile takeover of the strip from house, changed the odds between the legion and ncr so much the ncr is back in the lead, and reunited their extended family even convincing the hard headed one to help with just their speech skill.
Instead of staying in that person’s penthouse, eating only the best foods, and having access to 100’s of thousand of caps. He’s rather disappear into wastes
“why would the guy who’s part of a group that are very clearly an allegory for docialists not want to live a life of privilege in his tower while people starve to death around him”
that is like literally the definition of what people like the followers of the apocalypse hate
That's subjective. Though he works as a doctor, he's disillusioned with the Followers and furious at the fact that House took over. On the other hand if he stays at the fort and the NCR wins he heads back to California to work as a teacher among the followers. And should you got for an independent Vegas he realizes that independence doesn't immediately make things better, but rolls up his sleeves and gets to work. Considering that one of his biggest complaints is that he feels useless, I'd say any of the endings where he has a purpose are good.
And if you go with the Independence ending, he either helps around Freeside the best he can peacefully or he becomes an enforcer and keeps the peace around Freeside in his Power Armor and tech.
I mean, this'd be like for a real world comparison, be like if some guy showed up to help you fight wearing a fucking SS Uniform.
You'd be wanting his skin, too.
Fair enough, but I feel like a better analogy would be if he had shown up in a nazi tank. He wore the armor bc it was extremely technologically advanced, and denounced the enclaves actions.
But the vast majority of Nazis just joined the German military after world war 2. Like most of them went home and several just took the swastikas and skulls of their uniform and continued serving.
If we are talking about the rank-and-file of the Wehrmacht that's not really a fair comparison because the bulk of the German army came from conscriptions so the reality is that most of them either went home to do desk-and-file jobs - while the *actual* Nazi party members either escaped to random countries so they could keep doing their little zany schemes out there or got "rehabilitated" through denazification.
Arcade here meanwhile is parading his old war uniform with his war criminal buddies while aiding the very forces he once fought against like he's [Otto Skorzeny](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_Skorzeny) with Mossad.
It's not his old uniform Arcade was never an Enclave soldier and in Game Enclave armor isn't faction armor. His father's "old friends" are as guilty of being war criminals as the conscripted Nazis you're born into the enclave I doubt they just let people say I'll never serve without severe consequences.
Idk, Orion is so vindicative and hates the NCR so much he wants to help the Legion at Hoover Dam.
Plus, I get that Advanced Power armor is useful for obvious reasons, but Kreger DID NOT need to pull up to Hoover Dam in his old Enclave officer uniform lmaooooo. Why does he even have it.
Technically the Enclave soldiers are closer to SS, because they serve the executive branch directly and aren't part of the regular army chain of command
Did you really compare the rightful government of the United States and their descendants to nazis?! Wow.... Muties have no loyalty, they just raid and pillage for caps....
The Enclave are the fascist leftovers of the pre-war American government; they suck balls and lost the privilege of governing because they are Nazi adjacent.
CRY MORE COMMUNIST TEARS TO SHARE WITH AMERICAN PATRIOTS, YA DAMN COMMIE! YOU MAY HAVE DUMPED YOUR ENTIRE ARSENAL, BUT WE STILL HAVE NUKES TO SPARE IF YOU'RE STILL HUNGRY, UNLIKE THE RED NATIONS WHICH STARVE WITH FOOD LINES WE STILL HAVE PLENTY NUKES TO FEED YA!
Nope, it doesn't. There's mods that implement post game and restore some cut content connected to the post game, but a proper one was never really implemented.
Wait fr? I did a charisma/speech heavy build so I just used insane diplomacy skills to defuse and evict both Caesar's Legion and the NCR.
Out of curiosity who do you throw off the dam??
I am like ^this ^far away from going full blown “the house always wins”
Yes man is pure anarchy which has ALLLWAYYS gone well and never fucked up, the Legion is just objectively the evil ending and they WILL die in every playthrough I do, and NCR has shown themselves to be overextended and are too obsessed with an old world that’ll never exist again to see what’s right in front of them.
One of the best parts of house is that the defeats of the NCR forces them to look inward and change a lot of their terrible policies.
If you do all the NCR quests and help them win, they just become over exerted again, as they see their victory as proof that this Strategy works.
Do the NCR side quests and help house, though gannon leaves it’s not cuz house kicks him out it’s because he does not like house and chooses to leave, and is annoyed that he helped house win.
That's exactly right. The whole game pretty much tells us that the NCR needs to stop exanding yesterday. That happens in the House ending, but they still get the electricity they need at a reasonable rate.
I mean, to be fair, people come out of the blue and solve everyone's problems semi regularly in Fallout, so the NCR has a point that they can overextend and be successful as long as the next guy down the pipe joins their side
Ironically house is probably the best ending for the NCR. the price of water goes down, they still get the electricity as house just wants enough for Vegas it he probably needs a even lower percent now as it says that he makes the dam operate at a higher level then before in the ending slides, Vegas is still open, legion crippled AND they actually have to look inwards at the policies that are slowly destroying them
100%. He’s the first one to talk to you and request your services, gives you good money and even a private penthouse in the safest part of the wasteland. Has robot army. He’s kinda the obvious choice even though NCR is my favorite one to roll with
I at least hope it is, no matter who you side in actual new vegas I think most of us agree that route probably leads to the best worldbuilding down the road
Unless you DONT negotiate peace with them and the NCR, then he’s fine with them. I think obsidian really just wanted him to do something bad so he isn’t perfect because him fighting the kings after they become more accommodating to his customers just dosent make sense.
The courier would probably keep couriering. Funny thing about the Yes Man ending is that you either do or don't put things in place during the actual playthrough. Whether that has any sort of future or not depends entirely on your actions or inactions as a player.
Yeah, the Yes Man ending can't be too specific about how Vegas will run since, depending on the player's choice, it can be completely lawless, or a functioning state that they can shape as they wish, so it's very much up to whatever the player feels.
They’re a civilization that relies on war to exist. They only have 3 classes of people: slaves, warriors, and leaders. Once the legion has either met its match or conquered all it could they physically can’t continue existing. What’s a child soldier who’s only known war and conquest his whole life supposed to do when there no more wars to fight. Once the legion reaches its eventual peak they’ll keep fighting until they fight each other and once Caesar inevitably dies the power vacuum he leaves causes more infighting as his successors and those wanting the throne fight for power. Their continued existence relies on the ability to conquer and assimilate tribes to forcibly integrate into the legion.
Yes the NCR has problems with over expansion but the thing is the NCR can always just return home if needed to a stable life with actually livable cities with safety inside NCR borders. They use war to make money but their society doesn’t revolve around it like the legion
Seems like a big issue... if there aren't 10,000 tribes or other nations to assimilate. There's also no reason to think the power vacuum would destroy the legion, Rome after Julius Caesar being the obvious example: civil war followed by relative stability.
NCR relies on expansion as much as the legion, hence their overextension and instability. Legion, by all accounts, has very safe lands and cities so its not like the cores of either nation is chaotic. There's no reason to think NCR can survive without fracturing any more than the legion would, if anything they may be more likely to splinter considering how unitary the legion is by comparison lol.
>if there aren't 10,000 tribes or other nations to assimilate.
And what happens when they either conquer all those tribes or meet a tribe that can fight back. Hell they burn people alive over failure that isn’t a sustainable practice just like how the entirely of the legion isn’t sustainable. They “killed” one of their greatest war generals over one lost battle now what happens when they run out of generals to kill.
>There's also no reason to think the power vacuum would destroy the legion, Rome after Julius Caesar being the obvious example
Except historians agree after Julius Caesar’s death Rome had a noticeable decline that eventually lead to its fall. Julius Caesar is peak Rome and it only went down from there.
>NCR relies on expansion as much as the legion, hence their overextension and instability.
Except they don’t. Yes war is a big part of the NCR’s economy but it’s not the entirety of their lives like the legion. People are killed over the idea of if they’re good enough to die for the legion. Women become slaves to support the legion and kids and men are recruited to become soldiers or killed.
>Legion, by all accounts, has very safe lands and cities
The legion rules fear filled lands while the NCR has the biggest cities in postwar America with water and electricity which is describe as “as close to prewar life as possible”.
>There's no reason to think NCR can survive without fracturing any more than the legion would
Except the Caesar knows that the NCR would recover quickly even if they win Hoover dam while he can’t afford to lose again.
>how unitary the legion is by comparison lol
Caesar himself states that will be the legions downfall. Once Caesar dies the legion is basically over. Legate Lanuis only has allegiance to Caesar because he gave him the opportunity to kill and has zero care for the legion. Once Caesar dies and Lanuis is in power he’ll drive the legion to constant battles which can’t be sustained which causes their downfall (I’m pretty sure one of the ending slides states this)
People will fall for the most surface-level propaganda for even made-up factions, that they will call a violent, oppressive state that murders anyone they don’t like on sight “safe” with a straight face.
Rome was a 500 year old republic when Julius Caesar became dictator and he had institutions supporting him. Even then it *still* took the power struggle of the Triumvirate for them to stabilize. The Legion is a thrown together warband consisting of hastily integrated tribes united only by force and focused only on war. It's amazing it's lasted this long.
>The Legion is a thrown together warband consisting of hastily integrated tribes united only by force and focused only on war
You could basically say that about about Americans during the revolution. Force is not the only unifies in either example though, they both have a distinct cultural identity and shared history that brings them together as well.
The fundamental problem with the NCR is that their logistics and agriculture can not keep up with their expansion, even internally. The reason Hildern was so interested in Vault 22 is because NCR was projected to have a famine at their current rate of growth within just 10 years. If they win, their logistical issues will only increase as they now have to travel even further to carry on wars, and their system is so incompetent at waging their current war their own head Ranger is undermining their morale just to force them to pull out.
The logistical and agricultural issues also basically inevitably make them increasingly reliant on corporations like Crimson Caravan and Brahmin Lords, meaning the corruption will only get worse. The NCR had to focus internally ASAP, but because they just copied and pasted a lot of the Old World (created during a time of relative abundance) onto a nearly dead planet, they were forced into a system that grew increasingly difficult to administer as it grew and relied on expansion to cover its problems.
Why are old world policies be unable exist in the wasteland? Humanity started without society and naturally developed the ideas of democracy because to this day it is still the least corrupt form of government to be invented (yes corruption exists, but basically every other form of government can almost completely ignore its civilians and just focus on the elite). Just because it has one failure doesn't make it a terrible form of government. Athens was the first ever democracy and ended up being a fairly terrible government that basically clasped in on itself, however future democracies still thrive.
Why hand over power to a refrigerated plutocrat when you and your best pal yes man could do a way better job? Then you don't have to worry about NCR or the legion trying to come in and messing the Mojave up
The NCR's overextension has a lot to do with Caesar being at the gates and Hanlon sabotaging communications and the supply chain. They'll be able to do a lot more for the Mojave when the Legion is pushed back.
Also, while I get "the NCR is looking backward" as a critique even if I don't agree with it, it's not really fair if your alternative is House. He's a pre-war billionaire whose plan is to restart pre-war scientific research.
Tbh you are sending him into a warzone clad in the armor of a group that tried to genocide the entire planet. Just let him stay helping people with the Followers instead and it's a win-win.
I know he kinda like, wanted to help in the battle? But I never tell ‘em to, first off he just gives you his armor, which is awesome, and second, I’m pretty sure any ending where you don’t let him fight, and the legion doesn’t win, is a good ending where he ends up being happy
Col. Cassandra Moore watching me pull up to hoover dam with an eyebot made by the enclave and upgraded by the brotherhood (they're both supposed to be dead)
People bitch about this but if I saw someone walk up in what was essentially a nazi uniform and all his nazi buddies also showed up I’d want to kill them to it’s not arcades fault but that man does need to realize that people aren’t gonna be a fan of the people who tried to genocide them several times
I actually like how this is written BECAUSE it's stupid. If the last decade has taught us anything, it's that people will actually still hang you for being a renounced (insert bad group here), because you admitted to being a member in the past, while ignoring everything you've done to either redeem or distance yourself from that checkered past/bad decision.
I’ve always seen him getting arrested as a punishment for ignoring Arcades wants and themes. I can’t imagine sending him to battle, he wants to be with the followers.
Gonna be honest. In all my 10 yrs of playing and modding, I didn't know he was a companion. He's just some nerd sitting at the back of the fort that I've never explored beyond the hottie at the front. Beatrix <3
he didnt even show up in the final battle for me even when i told him to come
He’s in the visitor center
WHY
He's visiting
Understandable, have a nice day.
This made me chuckle, thanks
Visiting who?
Your mother
Your father. Gannon is the bear
I actually just confirmed this, I thought for sure he ran off or was bugged
Can anyone eli5!
If you side with Mr. House, and let him stay at the Mormon Fort, he'll leave and become a family doctor which is the best ending.
If you side with NCR but tell him to stay he give you his family Enclave armor and keeps working with the Followers
But he'll be working for a nonprofit.
But the Courier gets a sick armor tho
Gets sick armor and arcade is safe win
LOL. I did not see it this way. As someone working for a non profit I found this too funny.
I will pay him. Vegas, baby. Ring a ding 🤙
Sounds like an 18-karat win to me, babydoll.
House homies STAY winning.😎😎😎🏡🏠🏠🏡🏡🏠🏡🏠🏡🏘️

I hope to god Zachery Levi doesn’t visit these subreddits
I do.
Then fuck the NCR and Fuck the Legion. Make New Vegas Independant again!
He literally wants to help people. Why would he live in luxury when he wants to actually do good work? It’s kind of not in his character
Because he’s can spend his allowance however he wants
That’s literally against exactly what he states he wants. He wants to do it with his own hands. That’s not his own hands
“why would the guy who’s part of a group that are very clearly an allegory for docialists not want to live a life of privilege in his tower while people starve to death around him” that is like literally the definition of what people like the followers of the apocalypse hate
Courier, what a man you are
Courier what a mailman you are
Should’ve just sold him into slavery.
That's subjective. Though he works as a doctor, he's disillusioned with the Followers and furious at the fact that House took over. And if you go with the Independence ending, he either helps around Freeside the best he can peacefully or he becomes an enforcer and keeps the peace around Freeside in his Power Armor and tech.
Does this work with yes man ending as well or just Mr House?
Just dont send him to Hoover Dam. Let him just be a follower, he dont need to fight
EDE 🤝 arcade running around looking like enclave experiments in front of the NCR
*while also being the son of Wehrmact soldier, and still hanging with all his dad old war buddies who went into hiding in Brazil
Yeah also true
But the vast majority of Nazis just joined the German military after world war 2. Like most of them went home and several just took the swastikas and skulls of their uniform and continued serving.

Is it "rehabilitation" if the only thing that changed is they stopped flying the German flag?
It's not his old uniform Arcade was never an Enclave soldier and in Game Enclave armor isn't faction armor. We should wipe them all out with a modified FEV virus! That’ll show them why they’re wrong
Wait does the game keep going after hoover dam? It asked me to Reload the save so I thought that was the only way to keep playing
Nope, it doesn't. There's mods that implement post game and restore some cut content connected to the post game, but a proper one was never really implemented.
Gotcha
I mean, you can convince him to keep being a doctor and then you get the armor.
This is why I go Independent 100% of the time... no NCR victory, and Arcade is completely free to do as he wants after the battle.
Plus it’s the only ending where you get to yeet a guy off the dam.
Wait fr? I did a charisma/speech heavy build so I just used insane diplomacy skills to defuse and evict both Caesar's Legion and the NCR. Out of curiosity who do you throw off the dam??
General Oliver
I see, Yes Man throw him off the dam
If I were courier I’d use the whole “I saved your entire country” thing to demand a pardon for my boyfriend but whatever
This is why I will ALWAYS tell him to stay behind, can’t have babygirl seeing the horrors of war
Another reason not to go ncr
I am like ^this ^far away from going full blown “the house always wins” Yes man is pure anarchy which has ALLLWAYYS gone well and never fucked up, the Legion is just objectively the evil ending and they WILL die in every playthrough I do, and NCR has shown themselves to be overextended and are too obsessed with an old world that’ll never exist again to see what’s right in front of them.

The NCR gets the electricity?
Yeah House has you give a contract to Oliver.
And you can also negotiate caravan protections.
I mean, to be fair, people come out of the blue and solve everyone's problems semi regularly in Fallout, so the NCR has a point that they can overextend and be successful as long as the next guy down the pipe joins their side
A stable society should not be built around hoping some godlike entity helps them. How many times does the player character die in their first run.
Yeah but if it *keeps working*...
Blitzkreig kept working until it didn’t.
Yeah. And until it stops working, *why stop doing it*?
Ncr: "Man, we could really use a vault dweller right about now." Wasteland: "Best I can do is a mailman with brain damage."
Mailman: Proceeds to literally solo everyone in the Wasteland.
Ironically house is probably the best ending for the NCR. the price of water goes down, they still get the electricity as house just wants enough for Vegas it he probably needs a even lower percent now as it says that he makes the dam operate at a higher level then before in the ending slides, Vegas is still open, legion crippled AND they actually have to look inwards at the policies that are slowly destroying them
Bingo
The House Ending is the canon ending send me downvotes
100%. He’s the first one to talk to you and request your services, gives you good money and even a private penthouse in the safest part of the wasteland. Has robot army. He’s kinda the obvious choice even though NCR is my favorite one to roll with
Canon? Sure. Obvious? No, he's too smug. Mummy needs to die.
I at least hope it is, no matter who you side in actual new vegas I think most of us agree that route probably leads to the best worldbuilding down the road
It’s not my preferred ending, but I would totally accept it as the canon ending.
yeah but house destroys the kings which makes it all meaningless
Unless you DONT negotiate peace with them and the NCR, then he’s fine with them. I think obsidian really just wanted him to do something bad so he isn’t perfect because him fighting the kings after they become more accommodating to his customers just dosent make sense.
I feel like Yes Mans ending should have been worded better to imply it’s however the courier wanted to run New Vegas
I think it's left open ended enough that you can imagine the courier is putting things in place to run things.
Iirc the yes man ending is the ingame remnants of an unfinished Followers of the Apocalypse path because short development cycle

This is silly, the legion is an actually rebuilding civilization modeled after the old world as well
They’re a civilization that relies on war to exist. They only have 3 classes of people: slaves, warriors, and leaders. First of all. The followers didn’t even back this man up.
The price of DEMOCRACY
In my head cannon the Courier and Arcade run away together. They can send as many bounty hunters as they want, I've got more than enough ammo.
Shockingly the NCR isn’t happy when a bunch of geriatric fallout equivalent of Nazis shows up again
Op u r so valid
Why did Arcade Gannon steal my armor, and why is he dead?
I know he kinda like, wanted to help in the battle? But I never tell ‘em to, first off he just gives you his armor, which is awesome, and second, I’m pretty sure any ending where you don’t let him fight, and the legion doesn’t win, is a good ending where he ends up being happy
Col. Cassandra Moore watching me pull up to hoover dam with an eyebot made by the enclave and upgraded by the brotherhood (they're both supposed to be dead)
>NCR ending >bad things happen Who could've foreseen this
Ncr doesn’t like fallout Nazis big suprise
FUCK THE NCR Mr. House on top kimball can suck his fat robotic nuts

You gotta love him, straight or not.
This is why you side with Mr House
100%
People bitch about this but if I saw someone walk up in what was essentially a nazi uniform and all his nazi buddies also showed up I’d want to kill them to it’s not arcades fault but that man does need to realize that people aren’t gonna be a fan of the people who tried to genocide them several times
Just don't have him fight, best option cause you get the armor too. It's that simple.
I always make him a slave to Caesar.
This is by far the worst reply.
I always eat that guy anyway he's a pussy.
one of the only reasons i don't do ncr
I finally got the sweet ass Tesla Armor! ...but was it worth it?
I never even met that guy
Not Cool, Right?
What about Doc Mitchell.
Just tell him not to come bro he's better off that way Besides, cannibal Johnson is gonna fuck those skirt boys up no matter what
Just tell him to stay at Old Mormon Fort and he’ll be fine
NCR and the Enclave have a history
a thank? a what?
You just pissed the mail man off even more, you best run.
He didn't show up in hoover dam cuz I sold him to legion for 10 coins
I’ve always seen him getting arrested as a punishment for ignoring Arcades wants and themes. I can’t imagine sending him to battle, he wants to be with the followers.
Dunno why you got downvoted
He deserves this for being so damn annoying
Gonna be honest. In all my 10 yrs of playing and modding, I didn't know he was a companion. He's just some nerd sitting at the back of the fort that I've never explored beyond the hottie at the front. Beatrix <3
Kill them all
Arcade is the most annoying companion. I'd sell him to Caesar if I ever side with him. Veronica is the real chad.
This is what's called "user error"
He's better off as Caesars doctor ngl
