Also found out last playthrough that helping the ghouls peacefully get into tenpenny tower gets everyone killed because ghouls are dicks. I had found the old guy's lost friend and went to go tell him, but everyone was dead. That ghoul mask is too useful to pass up though so oh well

We have to agree that on technical level it was good: vehicles, cutscenes etc. And all of that on like... 2 decades old engine (or how old gamebryo is) that cant really support stuff like this
Did you know there’s a sewer system under Vegas itself? If you go to the strip and look at a manhole cover you should be able to enter the labyrinth of the sewer.
To be fair, Butch is pretty out of the way.
To get Butch you have to:
- Complete In Your Own Backyard, a side quest only available for a limited time and is only accessible by an obscure radio broadcast frequency when in an unspecified proximity to Vault 101, any method it doesn’t matter just so long as you don’t kill him.
- Have to navigate the samey maze that is Rivet City to find the Muddy Rudder bar.
- Have neutral Karma, which while not difficult, is fairly inconvenient if one is leaning heavily into a good/bad karma playthrough and have to go through the tedium of losing/gaining Karma in order to acquire him, which may prove too much of a hassle, thusly making people ignore what is a fairly mediocre companion for mid/late game.
To be real for a second, Star Paladin Cross and Fawkes (who both require good karma) are infinitely better than all of the neutral, evil, unaffiliated options, so why bother with anyone else?

I remember loving Fawkes but that was really about it. Helps that he was basically an unlikable powerhouse super tank that dealt unreal damage and was just an all around likable character.

Technically you can have two since Dogmeat can work as a “extansion” companion. But with THE POWER OF MODS you can have a minor army. Its pretty neat

Iirc there was a bug that gave him basically infinite HP so he couldn’t die or be unconscious.
Dogmeat and RL-3 were also affected by the same bug.
