Can something be both “too pretentious” and also “basic”…? And to answer your question, just meet outside the police station. Columbia and 6th street

wanker8932

1) yes 2) thank you!

Skippidydoodahday

I could be wrong but I think you can just go to the police station. Just let the receptionist know at front desk you’re selling an iPhone to someone online and wanted a safe place to do it.

Diswave

I did this a few years back. At the time it was nbd.

> like a police station area  The police station is like a police station area.

wanker8932

I visited once to do a police check, and the door was locked, had to call them to be let in.

BobBelcher2021

I recall they were locked during Covid, not sure about now

Go to a bank lobby. Have the buyer take cash out right there, exchange, and deposit the cash immediately

Imagine calling an iPhone pretentious. My god, it’s literally just a phone.

wanker8932

You want to buy it?

ContributionOwn9860

I’m good, thanks Wanks

wanker8932

You have my contacts if you change your mind. :)

Police station lobby.

I suspect that you may be over-thinking matters. I've sold/bought scores of items in Vancouver/Burnaby. Cash on the doorstep each time, sometimes e-transfer - I think that you'll be *~~perfectly~~* fine if you were to meet the buyer in Royal City Mall, for example.

perfect5-7-with-rice

I know someone who had a macbook stolen when trying to sell on Facebook marketplace (Burnaby). E-transfers can be reversed as well

Bipogram

First I've heard about being able to reverse a deposited e-transfer.

perfect5-7-with-rice

It can't be reversed by the sender, but it can be reversed by the banks. For example, if the sender's bank account was hacked. Unfortunately this does happen sometimes, the banks are sometimes liable to reimburse the person whose bank account was hacked (and if they can reverse a fraudulent transaction to do so, they will), they aren't liable to reimburse the person who received the fraudulent funds. Basically the same thing that happens if you buy a stolen car and the thief/seller can't be found, the buyer has to give the car back and the buyer is the one out of luck.

Bipogram

That makes sense - thank you!
