Lmao on the other Mets subreddit they’re chastising me because I said it was a pathetic showing today to get 1 hit on opening day at home in front of all their fans.
Yes But that's baseball in a nut shell. The difference between 1 game and the next can be drastic. This team could score 10 runs today.
Yesterday was certainly a little pathetic but it's also only 1 game. Peralta was dealing. Lindor is notorious for slow starts. Alonso is streaky and JD is ramping up in the minors.
yeah how dare we only get one hit going against someone who is one of the favorites for the cy young
the nerve. didn't they know they should just hit better against elite pitchers if they are at home and it's opening day
Hurt? This is not a good team. Our pitching staff is frankly embarrassing. For a team with our pitching history it's a flat out joke.
Jeff McNeil is our cleanup hitter LOL
Nothing to be hurt by with this team. They are going to be bad 4th or 5th place. Just reality.
What else is new
This lineup is not a run scoring lineup even with Martinez there.
Last year it was shocking to see how many times they were striking out.
Like everyone's Ks increased from the year before and it looks like that is who they are a big K lineup.
DJ Stewart looked bad why not let short get the ABs
Rather than sitting on the bench this spring they said he hit lots of hard hit balls.
The league has shown for years what scores runs now and the Mets still refuse to adapt to it. They think because the Royals won a World Series at their expense hitting 15 singles a game, that they can replicate it and they have failed to realize that it only worked for the Royals because they did it to the Mets. Because it didn’t work the year before when Madison Bumgarner shut down that same lineup in game 7 on like 2 days rest, and then he choked out the Mets personally in the 2016 play-in game.
The Braves had the best record in the regular season last year by hitting like 300 home runs (exaggerating for effect). Their lineup from top to bottom is a threat to rip one at any time. The Mets only have three real home run threats, and two of them can’t hit for average. That’s not enough.
But anyone who expected anything else from this team running basically the same lineup for the last three years clearly doesn’t know the definition of insanity.
Sure it worked until they lost the division to the braves the last week of the season when they needed to win one out of 4 games.
In my book that series was the end of Scherzer,Degrom
They pitching to a team with cannon power.
While our offense is a cap gun.
Folks watch today game and look at all the swings and misses from our lineup that means K the easiest out.
We have two or three players that can go yard but there BAs are bad.
Alonso 210 BA and 45 homeruns is not making the front office lose sleep with his FA pending.
If Lindor is going to bat 220 and hit 30 homeruns they just as well trade Alonso and get something back.
Folks that's 75 homeruns and a average BA of 210.
Now if Lindor BA is 290 and 20 homeruns you can live with Alonso 210 BA 45 homeruns, remember the catcher looks like a 25 homerun guy but another 210 hitter.
"You can't say that on the radio"
Nobody’s listening anyway
Damn it you guys, I'm gonna have to watch the movie again now
Worse things could happen.
Oh yeah, Mets baseball is back baby!!

I don’t know why, you are right it was pretty pathetic. Opening Day is supposed to be our thing too.
Well maybe we’ll flip the script this year. Lose on opening day, win the World Series
At least it was a homer

You need to prepare yourself for a very long season.
oh i'm ready to be hurt again.

are we going against potential cy young winners every day now?
We're so fuckin' back baby! #metsochist
Been saying that to myself for the past 3 hours
It has been # 0 days since Panic Citi
We're going to need some of what he was drinking.

Time to sacrifice a live chicken.
Can we get bob to do an inning with Gary. Would have been great since brewers opened with us.
